A mafia princess desperate to escape. A ruthless attorney driven by revenge. An obsession that consumes them both.
Madi I’ve always been the black sheep of my family—a burden, a disgrace. Now they’ve sold me off in an arranged marriage to Adrian Russo, a cold, calculating lawyer on my brother’s payroll. At first, I thought he was just another puppet in their cruel games. But when he touches me, his punishments turn into something darker…something addictive. And I begin to wonder if the man who shares my bed and rules my nights is my captor—or my savior.
Adrian The moment I laid eyes on the blue-haired girl, I knew she’d be mine. Her defiance, her fire—it was irresistible. Marrying her was supposed to be a means to an end—a calculated step in my plan for revenge. But every look, every touch, every scream has me craving more. I tell myself I’m saving her from a worse fate, but that’s a lie. I’m not her hero. Only the devil would force his bride down the aisle. And once she says “I do,” she’ll belong to me. Forever.
Natalia Lourose writes angsty romance about broken people figuring out life and finding love along the way. Television and far too much smut as a teenager left her obsessed with dark-haired bad boys who are moody and wear leather jackets. Tucked away in her writing nook with a dog at her feet, two cats on her keyboard, and husband yelling at the computer – she is always writing something, or trying to.
She loves interacting with fans and fellow book lovers on social media!
Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐: Great plot, the story drew me in. A few errors and some parts lacked continuity.
Introduction: This is my book review of Obsession by Natalia Lourose. This is my first time reading a book by Lourose.
Summary: This mafia romance starts with Madi at a young age attending her father’s funeral. She doesn’t feel anything about his death. Then the story moves forward when she is 18 and her brother is selling her off to an arranged marriage. She has a very low opinion of her family, especially her brother Marcus. “My relationship with Marcus was all dried up. Dead roses on the vine.” “He saw the world as one big chess game and we were all just pawns on his board.” Adrian, the family lawyer, saves her from her fate and puts his clout in to marry her instead. Adrian and Madi go through with the marriage with Adrian already attracted to her, but Madi is ignoring her attraction to him. She vows to make his life a living hell. While they’re figuring out their marriage, Adrian is in the middle of a mafia family war. He chooses to be in the middle of the family’s business to satisfy his own vengeful needs.
Character Analysis: Madi - Feisty, creative, kinky, kind. Madi comes across as the black sheep in her family - “So much sass for such a little thing, who’s way out of her depth” - but she just wants to be accepted for who she is. She’s constantly challenged and forced to submit to her family. She’s never given an opportunity to make her own choices until Adrian marries her.
Adrian - Moody, ambitious, domineering. Adrian comes into the story with a vendetta and a chip on his shoulder, but Madi soothes that - “She’s stunning. Even with the blue hair.” He stretches himself very thin with his allegiances only to end up putting himself and Madi in deadly situations. He’s sort of playing with fire until he realizes that all this time, he should let go of his anger.
Conflict: The conflict in the story is the mafia politics and Adrian inserting himself into them.
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️: Tension, kissing and open door sex scenes, but they are very short. Slow burn.
Conclusion: My concluding observations are that there were moments in the book that could have been expanded on like: spicy scenes felt short; the build up was great, but the event was lackluster and too fast; we got a lot of mafia politics with little follow through and no intimacy that showed the reader how Adrian and Madi got closer; there were moments that were told, but not showed. There’s a lot of mention of past events, which are depicted in books 1-2.
Question to the Readers: If you were forced into an arranged marriage by a dominant good looking man, would you submit to him? Do you think you’ll like it? Find out when you read Obsession by Natalia Lourose.
Warning to the Readers: There is unaliving and mentions of suicide.
Recommendation: I recommend this book.

A feisty mafia raised daughter who will do anything to rebel against her archaic family rules in anyway she sees fit, a lawyer determined to get revenge on the family for everything he’s lost, and an arranged marriage that was never suppose to happen but throws both Madi and Adrien together on a whirlwind adventure of secrets, betrayals, more than one spicy encounter and maybe even love. If you’re looking for a book that has a strong, rebellious FMC, a dominant, skirts the edge of what’s right and what’s wrong in the eyes of the law MMC, short but memorable spicy moment, and more than one twist you’ll never see coming than be sure to grab a copy of Obsession by Natalia Lourose today!
For me personally this book started off strong, I really like Madi and Adrian. I also really enjoyed the plot, a man trying to avenge his own. And a woman who just wants freedom from a family she feels she doesn’t belong in but that refused to let her go. And originally I understood our characters feeling and actions. But then I felt things started to fall a bit short for me. I felt like Madi went from stubborn and feisty to just kinda mean, rude and stubborn just for the sake of being stubborn. And while Adrian said he wanted to stay on the legal side of things and for the most part he seemed to there were just a few things in questioned, especially his determination not to be like her family and take away her freedoms which seemed counterproductive to his then almost forcing Madi into a seemingly Dom/sub relationship. The romance for me also just fell short, it seemed like these two characters were more determined to stay rivals and doing their best to make each other miserable. Even the spice which I’ve really enjoyed in Louroses other books just seemed short and rushed in this book. Overall while this book wasn’t for me I would recommend it to other readers who want a mafiaesque romance.
This release took me by surprise! After nearly three years of waiting for the next installment in this series, I was thrilled to dive back into this twisted mafia world—packed with steam, angst, and plenty of unaliving. I worried I might feel lost after so much time, but Natalia did an excellent job of recapping without rehashing, making it easy to slip right back in.
The Costello famiglia rules New Orleans, but they’re deeply divided, locked in a war driven by greed and conflicting morals. Obsession follows the story of Madalena Ricci, the youngest of the family. When her rebellious nature derails her brother’s plan to marry her off to another mob boss, his lawyer unexpectedly steps in to take his place.
Adrian Russo has secured his place in the Costello family business through his legal expertise, but beneath the surface, he harbors a secret agenda for revenge. This is an arranged marriage, enemies-to-lovers, mafia romance featuring a filthy-mouthed lawyer who takes great pleasure in dishing out steamy “punishments” to his defiant wife. And let’s talk about the spice—it was spicing! Plus, ANY scene that includes John Vitale? I’m absolutely feral for that man.
Once again, I loved diving back into this chaotic family drama and am thrilled the series is continuing. Of course, it always keeps me on edge, wondering who’s next on the chopping block—if you know what I mean. It’s like a spicy Godfather saga, and I’m especially excited for the fourth and final book!
Okay wow I loved this book so much! Oh how I lived for their story, it had me totally in love and captivated from page one! I love that this was my first mafia book of the year as it certainly left its mark, I missed this series lots!
Madi and Adrian were explosive in all the possible ways. They clashed perfectly together, I looved her defiance and brattiness every step of the way hehe and how he's with her as well! It may have started with hate and need for revenge but reading about them unexpectedly falling for each other was so good! They are beautiful, filled with emotion and so dang epic I was obsessed!
Adrian entered into an arranged marriage with Madi with a hidden agenda to destroy the people closest to Madi. Madi entered into marriage with an agenda to make everyone miserable. As the two grew closer together, they moved further away from their agendas closer to a lasting love. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a quick spicy read! The dynamics between the characters were so fun to watch as the Madi, the blue-haired woman who captures Adrian's heart has a fiery personality and a stubborn attitude. Adrian is attracted to her brattiness from day one and takes pleasure in punishing her for it. Maddie on the other hand, claims to hate him but when your mind and body are in conflict which do you listen to? She gives into her desires which brings her a step closer to falling in love with her husband. Not only is their dynamic fun to read but the writing draws you in from page one as we're introduced to young Maddie. This is the perfect book to get you of a reading slump as it is short with great characters, writing and spicy scenes.
This is the first book I have read in the Sinners of New Orleans series and Madi and Adrian’s story most certainly did not disappoint.
Adrian is a lawyer for the Costello family and seems to have a slight obsession with woman with blue hair aka Madi Ricci, a woman who is completely and absolutely off limits to Adrian.. or so he thought👀.
Madi is contracted to an arranged marriage but she most certainly doesn’t accept her fate and this feisty woman actually sabotages the contract. Of course this leaves Madi to face the wrath of her brother and this is where Adrian steps in, and when I say step in Adrian practically jumps at the opportunity to marry Madi😂 That man was so far gone for her I just loved it👏🏼
I absolutely loved Madi and Adrian. I loved that Madi challenged Adrian and always voiced her opinion. Adrian bless my heart, he was adorable😫
Thank you so much to the author who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭
Obsession is the third book in the Sinners of New Orleans series by Natalia Lourose. It's a mafia, arranged marriage romance, and it was amazing! The spiciness in this one was hot, hot, hot! I love that I found this author not too long ago, and I just want to read everything she's ever written!
Adrian is the mafia family's attorney, and Madi is the mafia princess. The whole story was just so good, and Adrian was absolutely swoon-worthy! I loved them together, and their relationship developed so naturally. Madi was a brat when Adrian first met her, but I loved how she grew as a person once she was married and learned that she could trust Adrian. I was instantly immersed, and my eyes were glued to the pages throughout the entire book! I can't wait to read Sam's story, but in the meantime, this one is a must-read, and I highly recommend it with way more than five stars!
This was absolutely great! I forgot how much I loved Natalia Lourose and her writing style! The banter was fun, the FMC was sarcastic AF and I love that! Plus the MMC was OTT and likes to spank! ;)

Obsession is the third book in the Sinners of New Orleans Series by Natalia Lourose. This is a standalone book: however, the characters are interconnected.
If you like the twists and turns of a good mafia story, this is your book. The book is set in heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. The backdrop is Madalena Rici aka Madi’s (MFC) father Al and brother Marcus are ruthless people and are killed by members of their own family. Before Marcus disappears (code language for being killed) he arranges for Madi to be married to Rafe. However, Madi lies about her V-card and dyes her hair teal and is not deemed good enough for a mafia wife. Madi is a mafia princess and a brat. She plays that role well. Her mother Caterina is a piece of work and does not support her daughter. Her mom is just spiteful.
That gives Adrian Rosso (MMC and lawyer for the family) the opportunity to marry her. He volunteers to marry her because he has other plans. He wants to destroy the Costello famiglia because Madi’s dad Big Al Ricci does not protect his father in jail, and he is killed. This secret burns in both Adrian and Fede (Adrian’s brother). When Madi causes her marriage to Rafe to be canceled he speaks up because of his own plans for Costello familgia. Adrian had feelings for Madi for a minute. She stirs his soul.
Their chemistry is strong and 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Both Madi and Adrian have wounds and being in the same space requires them to face their skeletons. Both of them have love for their family. Adrian does not force himself on Madi....he wants her to want him. Once that happens, both of them have changes in their feelings. They fight their attraction to each other and the deepening of their relationship. They find themselves in Sam and Uncle Damian war. This book has lots of twists and turns. Plus, good supporting characters. Cannot wait until the next book which is the story of Sam and Hope.
Wheeeeew this book is good!! Can you say steamy???!!!!! Not only the chemistry but the spitfire going on in this book is insane!! This is what I imagine a mafia book should be like! The FMC is equally full of petulant brat and complete badaşş! The MMC is ready to tame that brat and I was here for every part of it! I think I’m sweating haha y’all, if you like a good brat taming mafia book, this right here is IT!! Annndddd it’s available now!!!! Go, hurry, read!! Adrian will reward you for it!!
Madi is a mafia princess who has been treated and less then my her family and does everything she can to defy them. After avoiding being forced to marry another gangster head she is vnow being forced to marry the family’s lawyer and she’s not too happy about it.
Adrian has revenge on his mind for the last 20 yrs and now, by marrying into the family he can see his plan through. But, there is just something about Madi that’s getting under his skin, more then he anticipated.
This book is it, I’m telling ya! I gave it 4.5 Stars and 4 Spice
Adrian wants revenge and sees marrying Madi as an opportunity to get closer to her family while plotting his revenge. Little does he know how deeply he'll fall for his feisty, fierce wife.
I loved Madi; she was sassy and refused to back down without a fight. She didn't want this marriage in the first place, but now that she was forced into it, she was determined to show her new husband how bratty she could be.
𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒚 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒔, 𝒘𝒊𝒇𝒆.
Adrian secretly loves it when his wife is a brat because he knows she loves the punishments. Adrian has a dirty mouth, and he loves to eat her 😻 and he loves to spank her. 😈
🔥 A Perfect Storm of Danger, Desire, and Betrayal 🔥
Chained by vows, wrapped in deceit. Madi was sold to Adrian Russo like she was nothing—just an object. But is she truly trapped in his web… or has he awakened a dark desire she never knew she had?
Adrian was never supposed to want her. She may be his wife, but she’s more than that—she belongs to him.
This is an Arranged Marriage, Dark Mafia, Revenge Romance that had me hooked from the start. The writing was sharp, the banter was addictive, and the build-up was intoxicating. Oh, and the 🌶️ spice? Chef’s kiss. If you love a bratty FMC and a possessive MMC, this one is for you! I’ll definitely be looking into more from this author!

I think this is the strongest book so far in the series and makes me eager to read the next one.
Not as violent as the last installment, the book starts with a flashback to how the arranged marriage came to be.
Then returns to where the last book left off where luckily the horrendous Marcus is gone, but the uncle remains.
An interesting hero, Adrian is a vengeful lawyer planning to take down the crime family from inside. Madi is a quirky artist defiant and understandably resistant to her new husband.
Perfect for those that enjoy brat dynamic, discipline/punishment kink. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I honestly loved this book! The character dynamics were fantastic, and their development throughout the story kept me invested. I hadn’t read the first two books in the series, so I went in completely blind, but I still found it easy to follow and connect with the story. There were a couple of moments where my attention dipped, but those were brief, and I was quickly drawn back in. I don’t typically read mafia books, so this was my first one in a long time — and I ended up really enjoying it!
Wanted more. The synopsis of the book grabbed my attention and I was ready to read it but it did go a far as you'd think by the way it was described. I wanted more angst between the characters than turn into love but it just wasn't there. A good story, but I did not get the same feelings reading the story as I did the description.

I liked Madi, sassy and just rebellious enough that Adrian loved it.I could relate to Madi, her parents trying to conform her to their strict rigid rules and those of society and Madi rebelled, of course. Adrian was infatuated with her. Together they could both seek their revenge. I think this has been my favorite of the Sinners of New Orleans series so far.
I am glad Madi gets her story told as she was a character I was curious about. I loved her stubborn spark and willingness to defy. I do wish she held out longer on defying Adrian though. Adrian was a bit of a mixed character as he seemed torn throughout. I have really enjoyed this series and eager for the next.
This was a cute book, a good pallet cleanser between big romantasy reads and I really enjoyed it. It was also different from my usual mafia romance books, I've not read one about the lawyer before, usually it's about the head of the family/organization. 5/5 on the spice as well.
Sweet little mafia marriage of convenience, but for me, it was a little short, i wanted to know more about the plan, the action and more about their marriage to know the characters better.
I enjoyed Madi and Adrian’s story. The FMC was feisty and I was here for it! She was my favorite character. The plot was really good as well. If you like mafia I recommend!
