Awards: None Grade Levels: K-3 Summary: In Cinderella, the classic story of Cinderella is told in a graphic novel form. Cinderella lives with her two ugly stepsisters and stepmother who make her do everything for them. Her fairy godmother helps her go to the ball so she can meet prince charming. Review: I enjoyed this version of Cinderella. I think children will like the consistency of the same pictures from the movie, so all the characters look the same. Children will enjoy the familiar story and visuals of this graphic novel version of Cinderella In Class Uses: Class Library, Read Aloud, have kids create their own graphic novels using talk bubbles with this as an example
This is a classic re-telling of the Cinderella story. It may be the version that most of us grew up on. It may also be the cause of so many women's woes because they think a fairy godmother will come make them beautiful and then men will come sweep you off your feet. However, the music in here is classic and it is still a movie that girls enjoy, more than 50 years after being made.
My three year old daughter picked out this book during a library trip yesterday. Both she and my 5 year old enjoyed having it read to them. It was their first graphic novel. The images are stills from the Disney animated film, and the text is a pared down version of the plot and dialogue. This format was a nice change of pace from the standard Disney Princess picture book.
Cinderella's step mother didn't care about her daughters' consciences and making sure they were right. Cinderella came to the ball and they didn't know who she was. She did all the work by herself.
