It all start with scrolling the comments of social media for some internet drama. That’s when I saw it: a love spell. It won’t work, right? It will be like saying bloody Mary in the mirror. I lit a candle. I said the words because I was bored (and slightly hoping it would work). A knock at the door reveals a hot AF man in only his boxers. He can’t go home (even with his magic). We try to work out the spell in the middle of my kitchen. The longer I spend with him, the more I don’t want to break the spell.
Will they break the spell and part ways? By the end, will they even want to?
Lilly reads a spell out loud thinking it was just spam. It brings Finn to her door. Things heat up fast for them. They thought maybe the spell would be broke if they slept together. Once that didn't work the went to a town with magical creatures to see if it was the spell that is controlling how they feel about each other.
Lily makes a mistake while trying to get to sleep. Social media can be interesting but reading spam messages is not recommended. But if desperation make it seem like a good idea, think before lighting the candle.
When Finn magically appears outside her door in his underwear after traveling magically from his bed three states away, the cold provides motivation to get Lily to open up to a stranger.
Searching for reasons and magical problems trying to return home leave Finn stuck with Lilly until they can resolve the missing message. But the answers may not change events or provide easy solutions.
A spicy little morsel that doesn’t take long to finish. A human woman tries out a spell from a random spam comment she sees on the internet, and accidentally summons a witch to her apartment. Fated mates? Maybe. Divine intervention? The book implies it, but it’s left open ended. After determining that they cannot recreate the spell and it isn’t an illegal mind-altering love spell, he still can’t seem to poof away from her with his magic, so they just decide to roll with it, and that’s your HEA. Amusing, but hard to imagine the two of them going the distance with so little to go on! But hey, that’s not why we’re here, anyway.
My singular complaint is that the story isn’t longer! This is such an adorable concept to me… and I 1000% resonate with Lilly(Lily?). All I want is to be the first choice, the divine intervention, for somebody. Somebody like Finn would be fabulous but I am simply not that lucky. If you enjoy the female underdog who finally gets her match, this one’s for you.
This was a decent very quick read. It captured the awkwardness of the situation. I thought she was a little unreasonable, not trying to see the whole possible forced feelings side of it. But she also brought up a good pointed about fated.
The dialogue left off. Honestly, it felt like I was reading a fever dream. Idk it wasn't for me. She did a lot of things I wouldn't do including letting a strange man into her apartment at 3 in the morning.
Stuff Your E-Ready Find! This actually made me feel things. Made my heart hurt like a cheesy rom-com second act breakup. (This is a good thing). I am excited to read the rest of the series.
This was a nice little novella. The premise was really cute . . . not something I’ve read before. As usual for me, with short stories, I always want more.
