This book was translated as I Thought it Would Rain for Storybundle a few months ago. It was mostly interesting to me for the fact of its existence: a twenty year old book about a transgender woman, a book set in several South African locations, and one written in a language that I have never read before in translation.
The story was very soapy, lots of love triangles and screaming and crying. I wish we had gotten more of Mahlengi's point of view for things that didn't involve some guy, and I didn't like the ending at all.
Bengithi Lizokuna is a book written by a South African author, about a transgender woman. It's a great interesting book, mostly used by DOE for grade 12.
