Falling for Gage

Rate this book
How is it possible that perfect Gage Buchanan is still single after all these years?

He can't quite figure it out himself. Perhaps he hasn't met the right woman. Maybe he's spent too many years focusing on work―or maybe he just isn't as perfect as everyone thinks he is.

Gage thought he left his days of one-night stands behind him, however something about the gorgeous cocktail waitress in a town three hours away is far too intriguing. But when she shows up weeks later in his hometown, Calliope, pretending to be an art appraiser, Gage is completely blindsided―not to mention still very attracted to the (apparent) little liar. He can't figure her out: not her angle nor the persistent pull between them.

Aurora "Rory" Casteel is determined to find her father. All she knows from her late mother is that he lives in Calliope and he's an important part of the town. So when Rory's gallery-owning friend offers to run cover for her while she sleuths around town, she jumps at the chance. But she doesn't anticipate the man she spent one wild night with turning out to be a local.

Sure, it puts a wrinkle in Rory's plan, but she can work around Gage Buchanan. Even as it gets harder to pretend her heart doesn't flip every time he's in the room. She has a suspicion he isn't everything he seems, either, but maybe it's "perfect" Gage's flaws that are what she's really drawn to.

ive read a lot of books and ive come to realize that, when it comes to romance books, there are only a handful of authors that i will come back to. and MS is one of those authors.

she has never failed on delivering a book that has an honest story, engaging writing and pacing, likeable characters, and evident heart. her storytelling personality just clicks with me and suits all of my reading preferences.

and while this is a standalone (and can easily be read a such), im so glad ive read ‘archers voice’ and ‘travis’ before picking this up. they definitely help me get the most out of the story and i loved understanding the full picture of how all of the characters are connected. it was a lot of fun trying to figure out who rorys dad is and how it impacts everyone.

which is why im looking forward to seeing if MS continues expanding this world and telling stories related to these characters!

*Probably more enjoyable if you have read Archer's Voice*

This was my first book by this author and I couldn't help but feel slightly underwhelmed. Having read so many glowing reviews of "Archer's Voice," I had high expectations for this book, expecting an emotional read. However, I found it to be just an average romance novel. Nonetheless, I recognize that many readers have given it high ratings, so maybe it just didn't resonate with me personally, but I look forward to exploring more books by this author in the future.

***Thank you to NetGalley, Mia Sheridan, and Dreamscape Media for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

I was so happy to see Mia Sheridan had a new contemporary romance out and I couldn’t wait to read Falling for Gage. Gage and Rory meet in her hometown and it’s not love at first sight, but they are attracted to one another. They share one night but think nothing else will come of it until Rory appears in Gage’s hometown.

I liked following Rory’s mission of finding the artwork that would lead her to discover who her father was. Gage helped her and they only grew closer through the process. I loved them together and the ending left me with a big smile on my face. I especially loved that we got some of the Hale’s in this book :)

3.5⭐️ Gage Buchanan thought his one night stand with the gorgeous cocktail waitress far from home was just that - a one night stand. But when Rory shows up in his town, pretending to be an art dealer, Gage is caught completely off-guard. Rory on the other hand, is in town to find her long last dad. Soon, Gage and Rory are trying to figure out the other’s true motives, all the while feeling an intense attraction and pull to the other that is impossible to resist.

I enjoyed this newest installment in the Where Love Meets Destiny series. It has engaging and interesting characters in both Rory and Gage. The author does a good job of developing these two through all of the little details that help us get to know them (I loved how dog obsessed Rory is). She also weaves the previous books in the series together in a way that felt seamless and easy to follow. While this is a romance, it also has an air of mystery to it, that will keep you turning the pages. And of course, there is all the spice for the open door girlies.

🎧 I read this book with my ears and have to give a shoutout to the dual narrators, Maeve York and Benjamin Sands, who did an outstanding job of bringing these characters to life. They breathed even more life into these characters, really adding an extra element to the story. While I always recommend immersive reading (using the audio with the physical book) I think if you had to choose only one format with which to read this book, I would hands down read via audio.

Read if you like:
•small town life
•found family
•interconnected series
•opposites attract
•wrong side of the track
•mystery element

❤️ Small town romance
❤️ Tension
❤️ Fun banter
❤️ Side of mystery
❤️ Set in the same world as Archer's Voice

Although this can be read as a standalone, if you haven't read Archer's Voice - read it now!

This was not bad. I wasn't a huge fan of the mystery subplot and how that played out. This isn't exactly a spoiler, but just in case you like to go in completely bind, .

Otherwise this was enjoyable, it's a light and easy read and the characters are likeable.

Archer's Voice will forever have my heart and it was nice to be in that world again and see familiar characters.

I listened to the audiobook, which is in dual narration and the actors did a great job!

Falling For Gage is a contemporary romance. This book was everything!

This book has a dual POV. The male POV is Gage (we know him from the first two books). But we really get to know him now. The female POV is Rory. She is an amazing heroine. I absolutely loved Rory and Gage. And the mystery about her father was incredible.

This book is so good! It made me happy and brought tears to my eyes. This book can be read as a standalone (different narrators). However after reading it I think that it is clear that it is meant to be read after Archer's Voice and Travis. It is the absolute perfect book to read if you loved Archer's Voice and Travis. The characters from those books are supporting characters in this book. And they are actually a meaningful part of this book. It brought together the previous two books in such a beautiful way. It was such a wonderful read!

Thanks to the author, Bloom Books and netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

4.5⭐️ rounded down on here.

Mia Sheridan can do no wrong and I stand my that. Her ability to make me feel every single emotion in a single book needs to be studied, because wow.

Love, shared dreams, standing up for your wants, found family…this book was just so freaking good!! 🩵🩵

I love the Pelion Lake series and I don’t want it to be over. I hope that she writes a book for Rory’s uncles, Romeo and Cassius 🙏🏻

Falling for Gage is not exactly what I expected. I had high hope. Sadly it fall short. The plot is not interesting. The writing is kind of hard to follow.

Miss Sheridan injects too many aspect in this book that make everything confusing.

What I love about Mia Sheridan is that she has this moving, almost poignant writing style that always have a special effect on me. This book gave me that. It may not be the perfect romance book from her, but I was glad to have savored her writing style again after Archer's Voice.

Falling for Gage is the story between Gage Buchanan and Aurora "Rory" Casteel. They met at a dive bar owned by Rory's family called Cakes and Ales after Gage and his friends got stuck in the area. There was already an attraction going on between them from the beginning which led to a one-night-stand. Since Gage is already set to go to London to take care of their family business' new venture, both of them knew they will not see each other again. But then after a week, their paths have crossed again when Rory went to Gage's hometown in Calliope, seeking answers and finding out who her father is, while pretending as an art appraiser.

The book had such a fun and quirky beginning. I loved Gage and Rory's flirty interactions while never missing out the deep conversations on the side. However, the things that happened after that were kind of a let-down, especially when I saw the weak character development of Gage (if there was anything at all). Gage has always been following the footsteps of his dad and had always conformed to the goal of being the perfect son. When he met Rory, he slowly got aware of himself and knew that deep within, he wanted a different route for his life. However, he was still very stubborn to follow what he really wants in life and instead, just be a phony to his dad. I had trouble liking Gage as a whole because of this. The whole time I was like, "C'mon, Gage, can you man enough?"

The romance in this book was beautiful, however, despite that, it was already hard for me to be fully enamored because of Gage's character. The mystery aspect was also well-done here. I loved the painting hunts they did to try to fit the puzzle. And I didn't expect that revelation! More importantly, the ending was so sweet and something that every romance reader would look forward to. It's also a bonus to see some characters from Archer's Voice being present in this book.

Archer's Voice is one of my favorite books. Ever! So much so that I was willing to overlook Travis's unlikability to read his story. & give Gage's a chance. While I did enjoy seeing Travis find his happy ending, this one just did not do it for me.

Mia Sheridan has written so many beautiful, heartbreaking stories and is one of my favorite authors. If this were my first Mia Sheridan book I'm not sure I'd want to give her others a try. Falling for Gage has an interesting premise but it was a little too far fetched and sappy for me. Still a Mia Sheridan fan, but Archer's Voice and Kyland will remain at the top of my list for now.

(ARC provided by author)

Rory Casteel grew up in a small town in Maine called Mud Gulch. Her family had owned and ran a bar on the docks for generations. After her mother passed away she was raised by her uncles. Even though she always had stability and love, she still felt a pull elsewhere. She longed to find out who she was, and where the other half of her came from, so she decides to travel to Calliope in search of her father. She arrives hoping to find answers in the peaceful lakeside town. What she doesn't expect is to cross paths with her recent fling. Her short vacation turns complicated as she continues to collide with the one man that makes her feel too much.

Since the day he was born, the sky's the limit for Gage Buchanan and his future. He grew up surrounded by wealth and luxury, and in his world status was everything. He was smart, driven, successful, and felt the pressure to be perfect, and carry on his father's legacy. His father depended on him to grow the family empire and even though he loved his job, lately he was drowning in the expectations and responsibilities of being a Buchanan. He felt restless and needed a break, so his upcoming guy's trip is just what he needs. They head a few towns over and stop at a local tavern while passing through. A chance encounter with a gorgeous waitress leaves him intrigued and wanting more. They share an unforgetable evening, but that's the end of their story. They have different priorities, but he couldn't deny she calmed his inner turmoil and made him feel alive. She brought out a side of him he didn't know existed, even if they could only be temorary. He still wanted to settle down, even though he was beginning to wonder if the right woman existed. When Rory suddenly shows up in his hometown nothing makes sense anymore. He's always doing things for others, but will he finally break free and go after the life he wants to find true happiness? Will he follow the plan, or take a chance on love?

Falling for Gage by Mia Sheridan is a small town romance about family, self discovery, love and beautiful connections. It's a fantastic story full of mystery, emotion, angst, humor, sizzling chemistry and fabulous banter. I loved this story and enjoyed returning to Pelion, but OMG, I need Mia Sheridan to take us back to Mud Gulch next. I need more of these Casteel brothers ASAP!!! <333

DNF: Try as I might, I could not get into this - at all. Something was off from the start, and I did not feel the chemistry. It dragged for me. Once I realized where it was heading, I lost all interest and left it unfinished.

Audio note: The audio was very solid! Both Maeve York and Benjamin Sands are new-to-me narrators, but they give great performances. The vibe is laidback and a little soothing, which went with the tone of the story. The runtime (nearly 12 hours) means that it might take a couple of days to get through, but it's not overly long. This is a fling to more romance, so the spice kicks in early on, but it wasn't particularly hot or steamy. Probably not a good choice to listen to at the office, but otherwise good in the format. It's a great way to experience the story.

This was kind of underwhelming. I don't know what I expected, but it was definitely more. I feel kind of meh about the characters and the plot and all that lusting after each other while they waited to see if they are siblings was gross. I don't see the connection between them at all. I also don't remember the hero from previous books.
It is questionable if I would finished the book if I didn't listen to the audio.

“Her breath stalled, chest rising and falling in tandem with mine as her pulse fluttered at her throat. I wanted to place my lips there and feel that rapid pump of life just beneath her skin. My own breath stuttered, heat infusing my body, head swimming.”

Look, I love Sheridan's pen. Almost every book of her is my favorite 'till she decided to write a mystery thriller.
I even loved Travis' book.

And after all this time, I expected to read another amazing love story from one of my fav authors.

Guess what I got?

There will be spoiler so

Not thriller. Not mystery. Not dark romance. Not contemporary romance.

Hero or heroine I hate when characters won’t fight for their love. I don’t care about their situation. I don’t care if they have miscommunication.

we are not in 2016 anymore.

We’re barely into March and this may end up being my favorite book of the year. I was so lucky to snag an ARC copy at B&N Union Square’s BookCon.

I loved both Archer & Travis’s stories but MY GOD this was *chef’s kiss*. I found myself laughing out loud at so many parts (the fire hydrant got me 😂). This was such a beautiful, well-told story. This is my favorite of all three books honestly, it tied in key elements & characters from the previous books in such a meaningful way. I laughed, I cried, and as I got closer to finishing I didn’t want the story to end.

I can’t believe this was my first book by Mia Sheridan. I need to go back and read the other Pelion Lake novels because I loved the crossover characters that showed up in this one!

I love small town romances and this one reminded me why 💙 Gage and Rory were total opposites, but their chemistry was very believable. I loved how there was a little bit of mystery in the story, with Rory trying to find her father. Sheridan did a great job with the character development, and I really liked seeing how the main characters grew throughout the story.

🎧 Maeve York and Benjamin Sands did an amazing job bringing Rory and Gage to life. This audiobook made my drives to and from work so much more enjoyable 💙

This is such a beautiful story! A chemistry-filled romance with a touch of mystery, it’s sweet, sexy and emotional, and I loved it!

This is the second book in the Pelion Lake series, which is, itself, a follow-on from Archer’s Voice. Those who read Travis (Pelion Lake book #1) may remember Gage, who briefly dated Haven, and I was so happy to see him find his own HEA. The characters from earlier books are all a part of this story, and there are some spoilers from their books, so although you can read this one as a standalone, just be aware that you will be missing a bit of background.

Rory and Gage meet when Gage and his buddies end up stranded in the small town of Mud Gulch and rock up to a Rory’s family’s bar looking for help. Rory is a waitress there, and pretty much dismisses Gage as rich and spoiled, but as the night continues and they flirt and banter, she realises that Gage is so much more than she originally thought, and they end up sharing a steamy encounter that rocks both of their worlds.

It's a few weeks later when Rory travels to a town a few hours away from home to search for her unknown father, who she believes lives in Calliope after her mother spent some time there when she got pregnant. Faking being an art appraiser to get access to the rich and exclusive members of town, Rory is stunned to see Gage again, and he’s furious, thinking that she’s there to rip off his family and their friends. When he learns the truth, he ends up joining forces with her to help her on her quest.

It's an interesting set-up, and I enjoyed the mystery part of the story featuring Rory and Gage’s search. Closely tied in to that, is the beautiful love story. It’s full of chemistry and epic longing and I was desperate for something to happen between these two! There’s a fantastic build-up of longing and sexual tension, and when they finally get there, holy freaking damn, it’s hot!

It’s natural and easy between them, sweet and sexy, with rapidly growing feelings. Rory brings joy and wildness to Gage’s steady and responsible world, and it’s so good seeing him step outside of the role that has been dictated to him his entire life.

“I don’t want a life without you, Rory. I don’t want to exist without the passion you bring into every moment of every day.”

But Rory is only in town for a short while, and Gage’s career will soon see him moving overseas. Though the relationship comes easy, the two of them have a lot of figuring out to do when it comes to their lives, what they want and where they want to be, balanced with the weight of expectation on their shoulders.

“I can breathe when I’m with you.”

They both have challenges to face, and the mix of their personal journeys, the mystery and a bit of family drama works really well. The romance ties it all together, and it’s so beautifully swoony. It’s quite the ride and I loved these characters, and the way they navigate it all.

I listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by Maeve York and Benjamin Sands, and they do a wonderful job with it. I definitely recommend listening to this one.

Falling for Gage was such an amazing and easy to binge book!!

What appealed to you the most in this story?

It has all those sweet, heartwarming and humorous moments that I love in a romcom, so of course I’m a bit miffed it ended. Really…Why does Sheridan have to write these amazing main and supporting characters that you fall in love with, and then have the nerve to end the story!?! I need weekly updates and installments!! Praying there will be a book 4 in the future.

How was the romance!

Absolutely perfect!! I was there for the off the charts sexual tension, banter and hilarious laugh out loud moments. Seriously, I could not get enough of Gage and Rory as their electric chemistry jumped off the pages.

ミ★ Archer’s Voice holds such a special place in my heart that I couldn’t wait to read another romance set in the same world, written by my favorite author …

❥ 𝚃𝚑𝚎𝚒𝚛 𝚍𝚒𝚏𝚏𝚎𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚎 is so appealing: While Gage lives by the rules and maintains his image as the “perfect” son who’s ready to take on his father’s business, Rory is free-spirited and living a simple life with her uncles.

Rory and Gage were likeable from the start and their chemistry was just through the roof. I will admit it started off quite slow but about 90 pages in it really picked up!! This book had me giggling out loud and kicking my feet but also had an emotional side that had me crying, now add in the mystery aspect and this books truly had it all! The Characters are well rounded and I loved Rory’s Witt and Sass that folded into her amazing personality! I’m not going to lie the fact that these characters could’ve been half siblings kinda threw me off for a bit which slightly lowered my rating of the book, but besides that this was such a beautiful and well told story of two people finding themselves:)

p.s, This book can be read as a standalone as I did or it is interconnected with Archers Voice and Travis!

Thank you, Netgalley, and the publisher for an ARC of this book.

This book was all over okay for me. I did like it, but I also struggled a bit. The fact that there was a subplot to make it more slow burn that lasted for almost half the book didn't help and felt unnecessary.

I did really like the last 20 ish percent much better. The plot was more interesting, and we got all the answers. This book can be read as a standalone but is related to other books by this author.

The narration of this book was really good, and the narrators were a good fit for this story.

first off i just have to say thank you to dreamscape media for the audio arc. this narration was utter perfection. the narrators really brought this story to life. i was instantly sucked into this story from the very first chapter. this was one of those stories that truly played out like an early 2000’s romcom in my head. the writing was so witty, engaging, and atmospheric. falling for gage is definitely one of those “one of a kind” romances that lefts me entertained and constantly wanting to know what was gonna happen next. completely bingeable!

rory + gage were instantly likeable and their chemistry was so electric from the very beginning. there were so many moments that i was actually laughing out loud. each scene felt so real to me (when gage was trying to track rory down. iykyk 😂). so giddy + cheeky. i had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard but also for being so emo for these two. they made me feel all the range of emotions.

if you like your romances with a hint of mystery with a lot of emotion, joy, and nostalgic all in one, i can’t recommend you check this baby out. i just love that these two found each other at such pivotal moments in each others lives. they both were inspiring one another while trying to overcome some life hiccups.

the only thing i wish was different is that i wish fate voiced his feelings a tad bit sooner but over all the pacing was really well done. this book provided the perfect small town, hints of mystery, one night stand, forbidden romance form of escapism that gave me the 5 star feels. mia sheridan is always a hit for me. the archer + bree cameo was everything to me. so happy to see them still thriving.
