A native of Michigan, he attended the University of Michigan and the Iowa Writers' Workshop. He has taught fiction writing at the University of Iowa, the University of Michigan, Miami University, Grinnell College, and the University of Texas. He lives in Austin, Texas.

Really interesting and well written, the pacing and content really drags you into the book. Only slightly put off because of the ending being so ambiguous though the sequel is due to come out this year so hopefully that fills in some gaps and answers my questions! Highly recommend
