I have such fond memories of my grandmothers. They were both special in their own way and taught me so much about how to live my life that I will be forever grateful! Here’s the list of six top things they shared with me:
(1) Don’t say anything if you can’t say something nice about someone. I think this is my favorite one as it has kept me in good stead all my life.
(2) Never be late. Doing so makes you think you’re more important than someone else. You’re not!
(3) Life is too serious to be taken seriously. Keep a sense of humor, it will help get you through the hard times. They were both right about that one.
(4) Share what you can with those in need. Know what is your burden to bear, and what is not. This one has kept me sane over the years.
(5) Don’t be a critic. Critic’s don’t create, they only tear down. This helps me when reviewers say unkind things about my work. I try to remember that they probably just need a hug today.
(6) Do the best you can do at everything you do. At least then you will know you gave it your all.
Thank you, my beautiful grandmothers, for being strong and sharing your gems of wisdom with me. You did more good than you can possibly know. Hugs, January Bain
Another genuinely scary, suspenseful story solved by Wolfpack Justice, and I absolutely loved every minute of it. I love historical fiction stories, and there's nothing that will grab your mind faster than this Jack the Ripper take. Has it been done before? Sure, but Author Bain infuses this one with her trademark mysticism, a female with street smarts learned from the army and a scarred childhood, and a isolated location to create something that feels new. While I suggest you read the others in this series purely for the joy of it, I do think this book can be read alone and without the others.
Anna and her team are trying to find the man who has fancied himself the reincarnated Jack the Ripper, all the way down to the finest details. They happen to live in a part of Alaska that has an area named the same as one of the areas where some of the murders took place. The writing is crisp and the paragraphs about the murders simple and eerie.
"But it was too late, she’d already opened the squeaky door to find the victim lying prone on the ground, an exact copy of the second event long ago in Whitechapel. The poor woman with her head laying toward the steps and her body, knees up, facing the alley, had dark blood pooled all around her. Even in the fog, Anna was close enough to see her throat was cut ear to ear and some internal organs were lying on her shoulders. The macabre image made her lurch backward and sink to the ground a safe distance from the body, not wanting to pollute the crime scene. She didn’t touch anything, but rocked back and forth, trying to make sense of things."
Now you might figure out who the villain is by about maybe 60% in. But it was Ralph Waldo Emerson who said:
"It's not the destination, it's the journey."
And that is more than clear here. Author Bain creates the roadmap and as the reader, it's so much fun following it. Anna is an irresistible main character who is empathetic to her core. This is not your average girl boss.
"Kelly had grabbed her forearm, her fingers dug in so tightly Anna could feel her nails drawing blood through the thin cloth. But the small wounds were nothing compared to the one opening in her soul. Every death took a part of her with them, the good and the bad. How long until she had nothing left?"
This book also reminded me of an 80's movie called, Jack's Back starring James Spader. If I remember correctly, he played twins, and someone was out impersonating Jack the Ripper and killed one of the twins. Funny how this made me remember that movie so many years later!
When I finished the book, I found myself thinking about some of the smallest details of the story, and looking for closure. It's a personal problem! Like, for instance, did we find out how the villain was able to steal the clothes? The last couple of murders didn't have period clothes? But these were minor things, and I'm a neat freak! I look forward to continuing to read my favorite series of this year.

I am enjoying the journey of Anna. She is learning about herself and trying to improve herself on her journey to seek justice for many people.
This book had a different slant from the previous books. I am an avid reader of psychopaths and killers. While it may take some readers time to figure out who the killer is with all the twists and turns, I was able to determine early on who the killer is.
Man that was so good!!! I knew it was him. I knew. Creep. I liked the one aspect of ALMOST throwing the suspicion off him and on to someone important with the breath mints. That was a good one. One incredible story though. I can't wait to see the next one. I've got my suspicions on that one and I want to see how this plays out!.

I'm really enjoying this series and recommend for those who like mysteries and thrillers.
That’s not a bad thing either, but with the Jack the Ripper addition to the story line it definitely ramps up the tension and intrigue levels!
While I came out of this book with more questions fhey are completely different ones, on top of my ones from book two that did not get answered, and yet I’m salivating for more! Bring on book four STAT!
Another great installment in the Anna Hale PI Thriller series. This book is so engrossing when a Jack The Ripper fanboy is wrecking havoc in Alaska and Anna is making her her duty to find him and stop him. Anna and her "wolf pack" are bound and determined to hunt him down before more people fall victim to him. This is an amazing thriller.
I loved it Jack the Ripper yes please. This was on the edge of your seat intense with alot of pieces that will have you trying to guess who it really is. A deep dive into the mind. Was fasinating and brilliantly written.
I am really enjoying the Anna hail series. She has joined the search for the Jack the Ripper modern-day killer. She works hard on rebuilding her life and trying to help anyone.
Anna Hale is at it again - to bring in justice - and book 3 is full of everything I want in a suspense thriller plus more. Well written and intriguing characters kept me totally immersed from beginning to end. Packed with intrigue suspense, emotions, action, drama, and twists.
