Rate this book
Molded by war and disfigured by a roadside bomb, Oliver Clark doesn't hold out much hope for the future. Then he meets Jayne, and all of that changes. But when she's taken from him, Oliver sets his sights on revenge.

No matter who it was, he's determined that they'll learn how far someone will go when they have nothing holding them back, and nothing left to lose.

Early Praise for Have A Blast
“If regular revenge is best served cold, this type of revenge is liquid-goddamn-nitrogen.” — Christine Morgan, Splatterpunk Award-winning author of Lakehouse Infernal.

“A brutal revenge-thriller that packs a helluva punch. Robinson’s propulsive prose grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until the end. This was a banger!”—Danger Slater, author of House of Rot.

"Robinson grants his readers a meticulously crafted character study, one involving obsession, paranoia, cults, and revenge. A solid, quick-fire read that will take you away for an afternoon." —Kenzie Jennings, author of Red Station.

"Have A Blast embraces the 'if you want something done right, do it yourself' adage with a fierce determination that borders on madness. The portrayal of a man consumed by anger, willing to risk everything, is the culmination of Nik's wild and explosive imagination."—Rowland Bercy, Jr., author of Dr. Parasite.

First off! If you like a good revenge story, this has one of the BEST acts of revenge I have ever read! Seriously, I loved it! 😁

This is a fast paced, addictive and gripping read. It's emotional and powerful, and absolutely packs a punch. A short, one-sitting read with such a smooth flowing and easy to read narrative, it draws you in right away and keeps your intrigue piqued throughout, culminating in the most explosive and genius act of revenge!!

Oliver met Jayne online. Due to his disfigurement, it was the easiest way. They hit it off and arranged to meet, Oliver hoping the relationship they'd struck up online would help her to see past his imperfections. It does, but he gets the feeling it's partly because she is trying to hide something too…

Jayne had fled an abusive relationship with her husband, her family, and the community that she was raised in. The details of which intrigued Oliver, and when she goes radio silent on him, his brain goes into overdrive, filling him with panic, paranoia, dread and concern for her wellbeing. But the truth is so much worse than his overthinking mind could ever produce.

He knows the cult and Jayne’s ex-husband are to blame and decides to infiltrate their community to get the proof he needs. But, what he discovers shocks him to the core and he takes drastic action to get his revenge! Extremely drastic and shocking action!!

Oliver is a disfigured man thanks to a bomb in Afghanistan and meets pretty woman Jayne online. They really hit it off and decide to meet in person. Oliver is very nervous and is assuming once she sees his face, she will turn away from him….but she doesn’t. She even reveals her unfortunate story as well. She was brought up in a cult-like religious community and lifestyle full of old fashioned ideals, abuse, ownership over women and tacit compliance. When Jayne turns up dead, Oliver knows exactly who is to blame, but doesn’t even bother trying to prove it. Instead, he comes up with a plan to make sure that all of them pay in the name of Jayne.

We begin with Oliver in prison, presumably on the last day of his life and we then go back in time to find out how he ended up there.

Love me a good old revenge story. Oliver’s on a one way street mindset and comes up with the ultimate master payback plan. He’s only looking for revenge and is looking to exact this revenge on everybody who let Jayne down once and for all.

I absolutely loved the overall idea and ending of this book. Such a sad yet satisfying conclusion. It made me smile. I selfishly wanted MORE the entire time I was reading it as it was just going a bit too fast for me. But this story originally was supposed to belong in an anthology so I’m overall happy with what I got.

I've always joked that if for some reason I wound up on death row, I would make my last meal shellfish so that I can take myself out on my own terms. Well...I have a much better idea now.

An engrossing backhand of a revenge story that gets going and finishes up in exactly the time it needs to - nothing more and mothing less. Oliver's story of love snatched away from him and the grim determination he resigns himself to in order to achieve a memorably bloody payback is conveyed nicely by Robinson. A real page turner, but it's a quick blast of a yarn so don't expect to be turning many pages past 50 or so. It's a worthwhile read for many aspects but especially for the ending, which is a chef's kiss of a conclusion that will have you hungry for more bittersweet revenge pulp any which way you can get your hands on such a thing.

I read Nikolas Robinson for the first time with his recent release Innocence Ends, and was very impressed with his story telling ability. Therefore, I was super excited to learn he had a new story for me to check out. What I learned on my second venture into Nik's words, is that I really like his style.

Have a Blast opens with Oliver Clarke's last day on earth. It seems he is possibly on death row, but we don't know why. We then go back in time a bit to find out how we arrived at this dark place. A lovely tale at first. Boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy loses girl, boy gets sad, boy gets PISSED!

Highly recommend this quick read!
