When two boys on the cusp of adolescence discover an enigmatic and mysterious artist and teacher, their lives are forever changed. Beautifully recreates childhood excursions in woodland, imaginative games and strong friendships. The later part of the book is set in Florence, vividly conveyed and explores the lasting impact of their difficult childhoids.
