A snowstorm leaves me stranded at a cozy, remote ski lodge, and the charming owner might just be the festive joy my heart has been longing for.
After finishing my residency, I needed a restful escape, not an unexpected holiday romance.
Nate, the laid-back owner of the lodge and my best friend’s older brother, is nothing like I anticipated—he’s fun, adventurous, and charming in a way that contrasts my meticulous, all-business attitude.
Snowed in together in a quaint cabin during a winter wonderland, Nate introduces me to the warmth of spontaneity, festive cheer, and maybe even a sprinkle of Christmas love.
Our forced proximity kindles an unexpected spark, revealing that our different worlds might just be a perfect holiday match.
Can I let Nate show me how to savor the simple joys of life, or will my career ambitions keep us from celebrating a future together?

Finding me in the storm is such a cute story. I sat down with intentions of just reading a couple of chapters but I couldn't bring myself to put the book down! I really loved the storyline, and the characters. Imagine getting dropped off in the snow, not knowing exactly which way to go then running into someone you didn't expect. I don't want to give anything away but I would highly recommend this book! I was hooked from page one through the end. I really love the authors writing style. This is the first book I've read of hers but I look forward to reading more in the future!
Very sweet read! I liked how Christmas took a backseat to the main story going on. I would've liked to see more back story on Elaina's and Nate's animosity towards each other in the beginning, but other than that, great read! This is the first book I have read by this author, and I look forward to reading more of her works!
Cute, fun, simple, and quick read! I really wished we could’ve had more back story because they hate each other then they fall in love??? Did they have crushes on each other growing up? There really wasn’t much interference from the sister but it’s a novella so! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Forced proximity is one of my favorite tropes, and this story had such potential with the setting. I feel like it barely scratched the surface, though, and I didn’t particularly enjoy the writing or dialogue.
A must read if you like mountains, cabins and snow. This is a very cute, clean romance with festive Christmas vibes. A quick read that will lift your spirit. Thank you to NetGalley and BookBuzz for providing this book.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an early review.
I love this series! These books have been sooo good! Each one resonates with the season that we’re entering! In this case Elaina has just finished her residency and is taking a much needed break before starting full time on a job. Her best friend has sent her on a vacation to upstate New York but she gets there in the middle of a blizzard and the taxi won’t take her any further. She tries walking but isn’t going very far when she is rescued but much to her dismay it’s her best friends older brother who she can’t stand! Rather than freeze to death she accompanies him to the cabin and finds out he was expecting his sister and not her best friend and his thorn in the side to show up instead! With the blizzard they try and make the best of the situation and as the next day progresses they find they actually start to like each other. Nate starts to get Elaina to have fun and break free of her rigid barriers she has erected around herself; getting her to become spontaneous and doing things she never would have done before. In doing so she sees Nate as someone who cares about her and wants her to be able to make decisions based on what she wants to do and not based on what her parents or what someone else expects her to do. Having that freedom, she decides to pursue a different path other than what her parents had in mind for her for her career choice but one which would bring her personal fulfillment.
Needless to say, Nate plays a big part in this and a happily ever after for the two of them looms in their future after it turns out that her best friend and his little sister decided to play matchmaker by getting the two of them together! Score one for Cupid!!
I loved this story and wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend this story and this entire series es ones I know you’ll enjoy reading! I have enjoyed each and every one so far in this series and can’t see any book after these altering my opinion at all! They all bring the spirit of joy and hope and bright and new beginnings as the new year looms and we say goodbye to the old year!
I urge you to get not only this book but this entire collection to read again and again whenever you want to recapture the spirit of this holiday season regardless of what type of day the season may be when you re read these books again! The magic will affect you just as much in July when it’s 100 plus outside as it will when it’s 40 below in January!
Get this book and then get these other books and see what I mean! You’ll be glad you did!!
Finding Me in the Storm: A Small Town Holiday Clean Romance by Hazel Belle
I received a complimentary copy and am voluntarily leaving my review.
In the heart of winter, when snow blankets the earth and festive lights twinkle like stars against the cold night sky, small towns come alive with the spirit of the season. "Finding Me in the Storm," written by Hazel Belle, is a heartwarming romance that encapsulates this magical time, weaving together themes of love, self-discovery, and the beauty of community in the face of adversity. Through the lens of an empathetic narrative, we are invited to explore the lives of Nate and Elaina, who navigate the complexities of life while searching for connection and belonging. At the core of this story lies Elaina, a relatable character whose struggles resonate deeply with anyone who has felt lost and weighed down by life choices. As she faces the uncertainties of her future, we cannot help but empathize with her journey. Hazel Belle masterfully paints a picture of vulnerability, allowing the reader to step into the protagonist’s shoes, feeling her heartache and longing for solace.
The scenic ski resort of Haven serves as a backdrop to her transformation, showcasing how the warmth of an honest soul can play a pivotal role in healing. As the plot unfolds, we witness moments of serendipity that remind us of the magic that can emerge when we least expect it. The chance encounters, laughter shared over steaming cups of cocoa, and the comfort found in unexpected friendship—all serve to reinforce the idea that even in our most trying times, we are never truly alone. Through their interactions, Belle reminds us of the importance of human connection and the comforting notion that support often comes from the most unexpected places.
Romance blooms in the story, but it is not merely a love story; it is a tale of finding oneself amidst the chaos of life. The relationship that develops is portrayed with tenderness and respect, emphasizing the significance of emotional intimacy and mutual support.
In conclusion, "Finding Me in the Storm" is more than just a festive love story; it is an exploration of the human experience—a reminder that, no matter how turbulent the storms we face, we have the strength to weather them. I recommend this story for all lovers of romance who enjoy a read that leaves you warm and fuzzy by the end.
What an excellent addition to the Sweet Christmas Kisses series!! Each book has me more ready for the holiday season and remembering the magic that can happened during this time of year. Each author lends their own voice, but they all blend so well together. This series is a definite must read for the holiday season.
Elaina needs a break! She just finished her residency and her best friend has sent her on a much needed and well deserved vacation. Due to a storm hitting, the taxi driver refuses to take her any further and she is left on the side of the road. She is going to try to walk, but that may not have been her best decision. When she is rescued, she is not happy to see her rescuer is her best friend’s older brother, whom she cannot stand. It is clear he was not expecting her and he isn’t shy about letting her know he isn’t happy it was her either. With nowhere to go due to the storm, they are stuck together.
Nate was expecting his sister, not her best friend. Now they are stuck together at the cabin as the storm makes it impossible to go anywhere safely. As the storm progresses, thus forcing them to spend time together, he slowly begins to realize there is more to Elaine than just his little sister’s best friend. He wants to bring out the fun side of her and help her break out of the rigid mold she has set herself up in. He helps her break down more barriers than he was trying to however. He helps her admit what she really wants to do with her life.
Hazel knows how to write characters that you can’t help but love! These two discover so much about themselves and each other is such a short time, but the story doesn’t feel unrealistic or forced. The relationship grows organically, even if there were some matchmaking schemes happening in the shadows, and you truly care about them both. I loved seeing Nate open Elaina up and allowing her to be honest with herself. The uplifting storyline will warm your heart and have you happy grinning!!
As always, review any author notes before reading.
❄️ARC REVIEW❄️ Finding Me In The Storm is book 7/12 to be released in the Sweet Christmas Kisses series, and will be available October 16th!
This book was a cute, cozy, quick read! It definitely grabbed my attention & left me feeling warm & cozy!🥰 ⭐️I loved the best friend’s brother, and forced proximity tropes!! 💋If you’re looking for a romantic, holiday happily ever after, this is a great one to pickup!! 🎄⛷️🌌 The story was very well written, like the others from the series, and had a very good ending! ❤️😍
I am giving it 4.5 stars ⭐️ because I felt there could’ve been a little more romantic details, and a little less slow burn. However, I still highly recommend reading it!! I do appreciate the wholesome, sweet romance, and this story was just that!❤️ I really enjoyed the rest of the story line, and the FMC & MMC were both great characters! Their backgrounds really made their stories and how they developed more interesting!
Another thing I loved is that it’s set in a small town in Upstate New York, which is where I am from! 🥰

After finishing her residency, Elaina takes a vacation to a remote ski lodge, which is owned by her best friend, Luna’s brother, Nate. Because of a snow storm, Elaina ends up stranded with Nate in his family cabin, thanks to Luna’s plans to try and get them together! 😉❤️ Nate and Elaina have never really gotten along before, with him being a handsome model and her being super smart and becoming a doctor, but they soon realize neither are like they anticipated.
Their forced proximity kindles an unexpected spark, revealing that their differences might be the match they needed all along. Elaina has important career decisions to make, and parents to make proud. Will Nate tell her how he feels in time? Or will her career keep them from a future together?
Definitely read Nate & Elaina’s story, you won’t be disappointed! 💋🎄❄️⛷️🏂☃️👩🏻⚕️🦌

❄️🩺 Sweet Christmas Kisses #7 🩺❄️ Thank you Hazel Belle for the gifted eARC.
🔔 Finding Me in the Storm 🔔 Hazel Belle Publishing Date: October 16, 2024
This is the seventh installment of the Sweet Christmas Kisses Romance Novella Series. I fell behind on doing these in real time in October and November, because life, but I’m back and going to get through the rest!!
Elaine is a doctor facing a major career change right at Christmas time. She escapes to her best friend Luna’s family’s cabin only to get left on the side of the road by the taxi driver. Nate, her BFF’s brother, comes to the rescue. This is to Elaine’s dismay as she doesn’t particularly like Nate and definitely didn’t expect him to be there. They get snowed in together, quickly realizing this was plotted by Luna. You can imagine how things play out from here 😏
This story was set up in a way that had so much potential. The tropes were on point, the characters were interesting, the conflict was compelling. I just struggled with the writing style overall, and the way the dialogue was written specifically. There was a lot of over talking in order to convey things to the reader, which took away from the natural flow of the dialogue and relationships. This was a novella and it’s hard to really flesh out characters and in depth storylines in so few pages. This one could have afforded to be a smidge longer just to further develop the backstories of the characters as well as to slow down the burn a bit. That being said, the story was still really cute, it was a fast read, and left me feeling happy in the end!
Tropes: 🔔 Dual POV 🔔 Best Friends Brother 🔔 Forced Proximity 🔔 Enemies to Lovers 🔔 Meddling Friend 🔔 Snowed In 🔔 Judgy Parents 🔔 Kisses Only
This is a very sweet and funny love story between Nate and Elaina and a mischievous little siser and best friend Luna who planned this mishap. Elaina and Luna are best friends and Elaina is in dire need of some down time. She is not officially a doctor and has just finished a very long residency. Now she needs to pick out which job offer she is going to accept and where she wants to work. Nate is Luna's older brother who retired from being a model and bought a ski lodge. Needless to say he is a hunk but when I am around him he drives me crazy, and not in a good way. My wonderful best friend has made arrangements for me to go to the ski lodge and get in some R&R. I have never skied but hot coco by the fire sounds good too.
The taxi driver is refusing to take me the rest of the way to the lodge because of the weather. So I take my luggage and hike thru the deep snow to the lodge. This is not a good way to relax. Soon I am up to my knees in snow and freezing and out of the blue Nate is here. Is he coming out to greet me and help me to the lodge?
Nate takes me to a little cottage and asks me why I am here. After I explain we both need to make a call to Luna. The real lodge is about a mile away and fully booked because of the storm coming in. I am going to strangle her is this some kind of sit-up between me and Nate. This is never going to work as Nate and I are total opposites,
I received this book from Book Sprout and will be happy to leave my review.
Hazel Belle is a storyteller…which in my opinion is more than an author. A storyteller uses their words to paint the pictures in your mind of what is happening in the story. I was drawn in from the beginning and finished this in less than a day. Luna, her best friend, has an older brother, Nate, who has a small motel in upstate New York and suggests she go there to get away so she can make her decision. They have never been close like Luna and Elaina since he is older than them. Elaina has gone away to try to decide where she wants to work. She has spent years becoming the best doctor to help patients who need her services. Her parents are both doctors and they want to know if she is going to go with their recommendation. What Luna really needs is some down time to relax and think about where she wants to practice. Will she decide to go overseas to another country (she really wants to help people and wouldn’t mind traveling) or stay close by? Luna needs to make her own decision and not what her parents want for her, but how does she do that? There’s something about Nate that Luna doesn’t know but will find out. Will what she finds out change her opinion of Nate, will it end their friendship or relationship? Finding Me in the Storm is all about Luna growing as an adult, making her own decisions, standing up to her demanding parents, letting go and having fun, and having new experiences. Make time to read this book, you will laugh, cheer, shed a few tears (at least I did), and be amazed by this wonderfully written story.
Another sweet addition to the multi-author Sweet Christmas Kisses series and this one is set in a scenic snowstorm at the picturesque Mountain Haven Resort owned by Nate Kingsley. Dr. Elaina Hawthorne has just finished her grueling residency and has been gifted a retreat to the Resort by her best friend Luna Kingsley where Elaina hopes to rest and decide on her next career choice. However, when her ride nears the resort the driver tells her the roads have come too bad and she will have to walk the rest of the way and as she tries to do that she finds herself stuck in a snowdrift and fearing for her life when suddenly a man asks her what she’s doing? She soon realizes that man is her biggest nemesis, Luna’s older brother, Nate Kingsley as he swoops her up and carries her towards a cabin. Her peaceful vacation just turned into a nightmare being stuck in a huge snowstorm with the one person she can’t get along with…well, at least that’s what they both believe. I absolutely loved how the author has Nate and Elaina do small things together, such as the movie watching, the baking on the child’s set, learning to ski with the children, gazing up at the stars. I also liked the scene where Nate is concerned about Dr. Derek making a move on Eliana. I felt this author put her heart and soul into developing the time these two characters had together building their relationship. This is definitely one of my favorites in this series of books. I received an advance review copy of this book for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
"Finding Me in the Storm" by Hazel Belle is a beautiful, heartwarming romance that captures the magic of the holiday season and the joy of unexpected love. Set against the backdrop of a snowed-in ski lodge, the story follows a doctor in need of a break, who finds herself stranded with Nate, her best friend’s older brother, and the charming lodge owner. What begins as forced proximity quickly blossoms into a sweet, clean romance that will melt your heart.
The writing is warm and inviting, and Belle does an excellent job of creating a cozy, festive atmosphere. You can almost feel the crackling fire and the snow gently falling outside. The chemistry between the characters is subtle yet undeniable, and their banter is fun and filled with sparks. Nate’s laid-back, adventurous spirit perfectly complements the protagonist’s more serious, career-focused mindset, making their connection feel real and relatable.
I loved the themes of slowing down, embracing the simple joys in life, and finding balance between personal ambition and love. The pacing was just right, and the HEA ending left me with a big smile on my face.
If you’re looking for a clean, uplifting romance with a picturesque winter setting, this is the perfect book. Hazel Belle has crafted a story that is both comforting and full of heart, making it an ideal read for the holiday season or any time you need a bit of joy and warmth.
I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cute story taking place at Christmas and with lots of snow. The H’s sister is the h’s bf and she believes that they can be perfect together. In reality they can’t stand each other. They can’t be together without arguing with each other. The sister sets them up together by telling her brother that she is coming for a little vacation. She convinces her bf that she needs some time off before she decides what she wants to do as a doctor, she has not been able to make a decision. The h sets off to the cabin without checking the weather forecast and arrives in a heavy snow storm. The cab driver refuses to take her all the way to the cabin and puts her out a distance away. The h struggles with her large heavy suitcase and ends up falling over in the snow and unable to get up. The H who has been watching for his sister thinks that the h is her and goes to rescue her. He picks her up and carries her to the cabin and then goes to get her suitcase. The h is angry that he is there but realizes that they will have to spend time together and therefore they need to make peace with each other. They proceed to talk and share and find out that preconceived opinions of each other are wrong. Each shares about their lives and feelings and discover that they like each other. They talk about what she really wants to do as a doctor not what is expected of her. The H challenges the h to do new things in the snow which she has never considered doing or even believe she could. They really enjoy their time together. In the end the h finds a job she really likes and they get their HEA. Hope you get this book and truly enjoy reading it and recommend it to everyone. Happy reading!
Finding Me in the Storm sets up an intriguing forced-proximity romance with a promising setup: snowed in with your best friend’s brother. The premise delivers on its tension with fast-paced events and the potential for a slow-burn romance, but unfortunately, it falls short in several key areas.
The biggest issue I had was the lack of depth. The story never fully explores the complex emotions and dynamics that arise from being stuck together in a storm. It felt like the plot was moving too quickly without giving the characters enough time to develop in a meaningful way. There were some emotional moments, but they didn't quite scratch the surface or feel earned.
The abrupt shift from hostility to friendly banter within an hour felt unrealistic, making it hard to invest in the relationship’s evolution. For a slow-burn romance, the connection lacked the steady build-up I was hoping for.
Lastly, the main character faces a major career decision with a 24-hour deadline, yet remains at the cabin for another 48 hours without resolving this critical plot point. It left me feeling like the story was dangling in unfinished territory.
While the setting and forced proximity trope had potential, Finding Me in the Storm ultimately left me disappointed, with missed opportunities for emotional depth and character development.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Superb holiday feel story . Hazel Belle , this was so beautifully written. It’s off the scale good , I was smitten and what’s more I knew that I would be. Because your writing is sublime and floors me every time . With every verse and rhyme , I’m telling you . I had a good time reading this book. You took a story and made it your own. I was surely in the comfort zone. Nate , what a guy , just a bit fly but so sweet. So it starts of with Elaine who has just done her residency and she’s off her feet beat. And in need if the rest. And doesn’t know what she wants to do next. Her bestie offers her a place to stay in New Haven in her family’s cabin but on the way there , there a stormy blizzard making hazardous driving conditions and her taxi can’t proceed . Her navigational skills and the hard trek ends up with her being picked up by none other than her friend Luna’s brother Nate, good on ya mate! Only he’s a tad put out as he was expecting his sister to visit not her mate. They get off to a wrong start it’s plain to see . She doesn’t want to add to his misery but what’s a girl to do? Has she bitten off more than she can chew? But there’s nowhere else to go so they’re stuck together through the bad weather and the storm inside . But the ice soon melts and so does Nate and both of them become more than mates. Beautifully written and such good chemistry . I love all the insecurities and the heart on your sleeve . It’s awesome to learn how the other person perceives things so differently when of the same mind. This truly was an amazing read that’s packed full of emotions not just going through the motions . Excellent work . So epically inspiring and portrayed realistically and with feeling and heart from the start .
This is the seventh book of twelve in the Sweet Christmas Kisses series by twelve different authors. I enjoyed this quick holiday read! Elaina has just finished her medical residency and is waiting to hear about prospective jobs. Her best friend, Luna, sends her on a mini vacation to a winter resort hoping it will help her to rest and relax. She thinks she is near the resort when she and her suitcase get stuck in the snow. She is rescued by none other than Luna’s brother Nate, who makes her feel insignificant and the only person who brings out her snarky side. The snow continues, so they are stuck together in his cabin, not the lodge. They agree to fake their way to being kind. However, the more time they spend together, the more they wonder if this is the start of something neither of them saw coming. This “new” Elaina has Nate’s full attention and Elaina is shocked that the man she thought was her arch enemy might just be the man she loses her heart to! Nate has the ability to push Elaina out of her comfort zone, and Elaina makes everything so much brighter and happier when she’s around. Will Elaina figure out what she really wants next in life, and will they tell each other how they really feel? You need to read this romantic comedy to find out if they get their happily-ever-after! I received an ARC of this book and my review is my own voluntary and honest review.
- Snowed in - Best friend's brother - Enemies to lovers - Close proximity
There is something about a book where the couple is snowed in together that really makes me smile. Is it the coziness of the house? Is it the creative ways to pass the time? Not sure, but I am all in for this trope!
Elaina is at a crossroads in her professional career. She is trying to decide what should be her next position. Her best friend Luna gifts her a stay at a resort in the mountains of New York to clear her head and make a decision. What Elaina doesn't know is that her friend is setting her up to stay with Luna's brother, Nate. In his cabin. Now, Luna didn't know a blizzard was coming and that Elaina and Nate would be snowed in for days...
Nate is surprised to see Elaina in a snow drift outside his cabin. He owns the resort that Elaina thought she was heading towards. Neither off them are prepared to be snowed in at the cabin, but they make the best of the time they have together. Nate shows Elaina that life can indeed be fun...
Such a cute story that got me in the mood for some tiny cakes and Christmas cartoons. IYKYK
This is part of the multi author Sweet Christmas Kisses series and each book can be read as a standalone.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Finding me in the Storm is a very cute, wholesome romance hitting shelves in time for the holiday season. For anyone who likes a good Hallmark movie, this book is a 'grab the hot chocolate and blanket and settle in" kind of book. An easy read, I finished it within a couple sittings. The novel is a forced-proximity romance between Nate and Elaina, two characters unexpectedly brought together by the scheming of Elaina's best friend and Nate's sister, Luna. Elaina needed a break from the world and work to figure out where she wanted to work, and sees the rest of her life going. Her friend Luna says a reprieve at her brother's resort might be the thing, however, a snow storm traps the two together. Two people who didn't know each other well before (but also had not the greatest interactions) finally take some time to get to know each other. With a backdrop of a cozy little christmas village and healthy winter activities, the two get to learn more. Nate isn't the obtuse model she may have thought, and Elaina is a complex and caring medical professional.. They both find themselves caring more about each other than they thought - but what will Elaina decide, and what does that mean for them?
I love these kinds of books for times when I need to shut off the bad and stressful news of the world, and get lost in a little swoony, wholesome romance. This book fit the bill.
Elaina has finished her residency and is trying to decide where to go next. Her best friend, Luna, suggests that she go to a ski resort and take a break. Elaina finds herself dropped in the middle of nowhere in the midst of a snow storm. She is getting a little worried about her survival chances when a man picks her up (literally carries her) and takes her to his cabin. Imagine her surprise when she finds it is Luna's brother, Nate. Nate is not any happier about the situation than Elaina. He thought he was picking up his own sister. These two really get on each other's nerves. Nate calls her Dr. Know It All, and Elaina thinks he is too cocky. Luna is trying out a little Christmas matchmaking for her brother and best friend.
Now they are trapped together in a quaint little cabin with no cell service, television, etc. It is amazing what fun things they were able to find to do when they did not have electronics in their hands. A particularly funny scene involved an Easy Bake Oven. This close proximity, enemies to lovers Christmas romance added another bulb to my Christmas light spirit. The cover of this book is enough to put you in the spirit.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Finding Me in the Storm by Hazel Belle is definitely short and sweet, and I loved the cute moments between Elaina and Nate, but I have to say, it left me wanting a little more connection. The chemistry between them is there, but it felt like it needed more buildup. The story kind of throws them together on this trip without much backstory, so I didn’t feel fully connected to either of them.
We barely see Elaina’s life as a doctor, her friendship with Luna, or even much of her dynamic with Nate before they suddenly go from hating each other to getting along. The whole “we hate each other” to “we’re in love” happens so fast, and it felt rushed. I needed more of that tension or even bickering to really feel their relationship develop. After a couple of days in the cabin, they’re in love, but without that buildup, it felt like it was missing something.
But despite all that, the remaining parts of the book were super sweet. It’s definitely a cute, light read, but if you’re looking for something with a bit more depth and connection between the characters, this one might leave you wanting more.
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and author for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Finding Me in the Storm is part of the Sweet Christmas Kisses series. This is a multi-author series that can be enjoyed as standalones or in any order.
This was such a fun holiday read! Right from the start this story drew me in as Elaina is dropped off in the middle of a snowstorm for a vacation that she THOUGHT she would be spending with her best friend... only to be rescued instead by her best friend's brother... who she absolutely did not get along with. A little sneaky holiday matchmaking? Yes, please! This definitely had all the Hallmark holiday movie vibes--- in the absolute best way possible. Despite their initial issues, Elaina and Nate had such a great chemistry. I loved seeing them warm up to each other through all the holiday and snowed in fun. Not only was the romance great, but I loved Elaina's growth through the story as she decided what career path to take--- and Nate's support through it all. If you're looking for a sweet holiday romance, this is certainly one worth checking out.
Finding Me in the Storm is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
I love all things Hazel Belle and this does not disappoint, this is part of the Sweet Christmas Kisses series. Elaina is a Doctor, who just finished her residency. Her best friend Luna gave her a full paid ski vacation at The Mountain Haven Resort. Luna knew she needed time to rest and recoup after working eighty hour weeks, and deciding her future. It is snowing like a blizzard and the cab driver can't drive any further. Elaina believes the resort is only up a little bit, but can't see anything. She tries to drag her suitcase, but their is to much snow. She hears a voice- what are you doing? It's Nate, Luna's brother; what his he doing here? Nate helps Elaina inside, she notices the place is small. She ends up being in Nate's home, not the resort. Luna didn't tell Nate, Elaina was coming. Nate never got along with Elaina; she was doctor know it all, and stick in the mud. They have to make do, as the cabin is buried in snow, food is limited, and no cell service. Nate calls a truce, can they survive several days together and alone? Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Hazel Belle!!!
This is such a fun Christmas read. Ever since she can remember, Eliana's parents have had a plan for her. Go to medical school and become a top physician and the best practice in Chicago. Complete medical school, check, residency check, start an attending job...check? Eliana has worked for a few months after graduating residency but isn't finding the happiness she wants. When her friend, Luna has her take some much needed relaxation in a small town in New York, Eliana decides to go. What she doesn't expect is to end up snowed in with Luna's brother, Nate. The two of them know how to bring out the worst in each other and are always pressing each others buttons.
Throughout this book, I loved how Nate was able to validate Eliana's feelings and help her to see that its important for her to do what truly makes her happy, even if that means standing up to her parents and telling them how she is going to make her own choices. Eliana is able to find herself and what brings her joy and the most happiness in her life.
I loved this Christmas story and highly recommend it.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Is a sweet opposites attract, forced proximity, best friend's older brother romance with no cliffhanger Some of the lines I really like ---- “We are going to narrate this movie just by watching the screen. You have to just say words that appear to fit the scenes for what is happening on the screen,” ---- “So, are you honestly saying I’m guilty just because I’m a man?” ---- “There are no guarantees, You have to work it out with your head and then leap with your heart. ---- “You know if I die of starvation, I’m not coming back as your guardian angel but rather an avenging one,” ----- “My mother says it is Mother Nature. A strong woman with a big attitude that likes to make pretty new snow for all the world to enjoy.” ---- “Right, but at the moment, you don’t work for anyone. The entire world is your oyster, and you are the captain of your ship,” ---- What's Luna up to? What's Elaina's mother up to? These and other questions will all be answered. I loved Elaina and Nate's story and I'm sure you will too. I've loved everyone of her books that I've read and can't wait to read her next book.
This is such a sweet and funny love story between Nate and Elaina, who are set up by Luna who is Nate's little sister and Elaina's best friend. Luna is quite mischievous, but while she thought some snow might strand the two in Nate's cabin for a short while, there was actually a big snowstorm. It could have been awful as Nate and Elaina have never really gotten along, although I think if they had been nicer to each other when they were younger, they might have gotten together sooner. There are a lot of funny moments, like when Elaina is watching the Peanuts Christmas and talks Nate into watching it with her with the sound off and Nate's description of what is happening cracked me up. Elaina is under pressure from her parents, who are both doctors, to take a prestigious job now that she has finished her residency. But Elaina isn't sure she wants to work where she would still continue working so much that she wouldn't really have a life outside of work. I like how Nate challenged her to step out of her comfort zone. Very nice ending. I received an ARC copy of this book, and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Elaina has just finished her residency and is a full-fledged doctor. Tired. Stressed out. Not sure which lucrative job offer to take. Her best friend, Luna, gifts her a short vacation at a ski resort in upper New York. Surprise! Ski resort happens to be owned by Lunas’ older brother, Nate. Surprise again! Almost the second Elaina arrives, a blizzard strikes. Who manages to rescue her? None but her arch enemy of the last decade, Luna’s brother, Nate. Of course. They become snowbound together for days during which time they each fine that maybe they don’t really hate each other as they previously thought. Elaina has big decisions to make and Nate doesn’t want to impact her decision, but does everything he can to allow her to reach her own conclusions as to what will make her happy in both her career and her life. This was an adorable and witty read, fast and full of adventure and laughter. The fact that it was over the holidays was a bonus because isn’t Christmas everyone’s favorite time of year? I highly recommend and know that you will not be disappointed.
