Crawling into bed with his assassin may save Oliver, but Caleb Rockford could also be his undoing.
Forced to write gossip columns about society’s elite to pay the bills, Oliver struggles to get his real news blog off the ground. No one cares about the vanishing Omegas in his city, least of all the local police. One side effect of his research into the rich and famous, though, is a burning obsession for playboy billionaire Caleb Rockford, a man way out of Oliver’s league.
When one of his articles draws the attention of the powerful Rockford family, his personal obsession comes to silence him. Exhausted by everyday survival, Oliver gambles everything on a last one night with the Alpha of his fantasies. But the Rockfords aren’t the only ones who want Oliver dead, and when Caleb saves his life instead of taking it, Oliver is put in the position of owing a life debt, leaving him at his assassin’s mercy.
Surrendering control leaves Oliver free from responsibility for the first time in his life, and all Caleb demands is absolute submission. With an unknown hitman on the loose, and a killer in his bed, is there any way for Oliver to come out of this alive? Or will he become just another Omega who vanishes without a trace?

Oliver and Caleb were a little ridiculous together. Not necessarily in a bad way as it kept things interesting. I don’t quite know what to make of this pairing.
So I’m just gonna say it. I didn’t like this one. I thought I would like it more than the first one but I didn’t. I didn’t like Caleb until the very end and Oliver had BBS so bad it wasn’t even funny. They had a D/s relationship and that’s not really my thing so it made me not like it even more. I didn’t really understand their relationship I guess. I really needed Caleb’s POV in this one. Maybe I would have liked him more. Also I get that he’s like pretending to be this playboy as his cover for being an assassin and he never hooks up with the people he’s seen out with. But for him to be with Oliver and then say oh I have a date tonight, don’t worry it’s just a cover though. I didn’t like that at all! Cover or not he shouldn’t be out with anyone. It’s not on page and I don’t think he went because Oliver went into heat the same night but still. Also I didn’t like either of Caleb’s brothers.
NO CHEATING NO OP DRAMA (the date he was supposed to go on doesn’t end up happening) NO THIRD ACT BREAK UP
Sophie O'Dare’s Caught in His Sights, the second book in the Taken by His Alpha series, is a thrilling ride through romance, suspense, and intrigue in a richly developed Omegaverse. The story pulls readers into the world of Oliver, a struggling reporter whose crusade to expose the mysterious disappearances of Omegas is both dangerous and deeply personal. Obsessed with uncovering the truth, he finds himself on a collision course with Caleb Rockford, a billionaire Alpha with a killer reputation—literally.
The chemistry between Oliver and Caleb is electrifying, creating a dynamic that is equal parts dangerous and captivating. Caleb is powerful and unapologetic, yet through Oliver's eyes, we see glimpses of vulnerability that make their relationship more complex. Oliver’s drive to survive and uncover the truth is inspiring, and his emotional journey from obsession to submission to unexpected trust with Caleb is engaging and well-paced. Their evolving bond brings tender, heartfelt moments amidst the suspense, and the steamy scenes are intense without overshadowing the plot.
O'Dare does a fantastic job building suspense, especially with the twist of an unknown hitman lurking in the background. The story keeps you on edge as Oliver balances his newfound role under Caleb’s protection with his relentless pursuit of the truth. The danger feels real, adding weight to the high stakes of their romance.
For fans of M/M Omegaverse romance with an extra dose of suspense, Caught in His Sights delivers in spades. This story has it all: a forbidden attraction, a dark and mysterious Alpha, and a courageous Omega whose tenacity is truly inspiring. The combination of thriller elements and intense romance makes this book a standout addition to the genre. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a suspenseful, steamy, and emotionally charged read!.

Oliver is an investigative reporter stuck in a gossip columnist's life. He is investigating the missing Omegas in the area, including his younger brother, but his stories have to be relegated to his personal blog because his boss will only accept sensational stories about the city's elite. Along the way, he becomes obsessed with one of the elite, Caleb Rockford, and one of his stories captures the attention of the man himself. And not in a good way. When Caleb comes to silence him, he ends up saving his life instead of killing him. Caleb becomes determined to know who else wants to kill his mark, so he takes a not unwilling Oliver home with him. As happy as he is to be under the control of his Alpha obsession, Oliver is unsure whether this is a temporary reprieve or if his days are still numbered. Even so, he is going to enjoy himself as long as it lasts.
I loved the first deadly encounter between Caleb and Oliver. Oliver's lackadaisical approach coming face to face with death was bizarrely amusing even if the reason behind it was heart wrenching. Caleb's reasons to keep Oliver were original, "No one kills his targets except him and deciding he had killed plenty of people but had never brought anyone back to life". These two were quite the pair. It took me a while to warm up to Caleb. I wasn't sure if he even liked Oliver or if he was simply interested in his investigation. His family helped him make his motives clear. I do love the banter between the family. I also like the continuing Missing Omega storyline. Each new story adds further clues to the investigation, and I look forward to more.
I think I enjoyed this book more than the first... totally different characters though, except Oliver is even more broken than Leo. Their stories are similar in some ways, but Oliver had gotten to the point of giving up, not on his brother, but on himself. Looking for his brother and trying to solve the Omega disappearances are the only things keeping him going...besides his obsession with Caleb. He never dreamt that Caleb would ever be a part of his life. Thankfully he did because Caleb turned out to be his savior more than his obsession. When faced with death Oliver's challenge helped keep him alive... what did he have to lose? I love the snarkiness Oliver gave Caleb. Caleb helped bring him back to life. Finding that Caleb had been just as taken with Oliver from their chance meeting 5 years ago was great to read. It's good that despite facing threats in his life, Oliver was not a wallflower to Caleb besides being drawn to his pheromones, his rebelliousness spurn him on. Like the bonus too. It was good to see Leo for a bit and hear about Nolan. I love reading books that overlap or ad bits and pieces of past characters.
I always enjoy a trip into this world with the omegas who fight for their rights and the alphas who join them. In this book, omega Oliver leads a difficult life. His brother has been missing for months, his job is a joke, and his neighborhood is dangerous. His only source of satisfaction is the blog he writes about missing omegas in the neighborhood and how little the police are doing to solve the crimes. It doesn't do much, but he likes to feel that he is making a difference. His guilty pleasure is obsessing over rich and powerful Caleb Rockford.
Caleb, an assassin who kills the bad guys, is sent by his family to take care of Oliver, the journalist who keeps writing lies about his family. Quickly, he smells feisty and strong Oliver and realizes that this omega is the man of his dreams. The feelings are highly reciprocated.
This book maintains a lot of positivity, passion, and fun times against a backdrop of danger and mystery. It is entertaining, engaging, and the perfect length for a fun read. The love is sparkling! I look forward to the next book in the series!
This book had so much more going on than intimated by the blurb. Yes, Caleb was sent to kill Oliver, and yes Oliver owes Caleb a debt for not killing him, but there is at least one other mystery within a mystery — who else is trying to kill Oliver and why, what happened to Oliver’s brother, and why are so many omegas disappearing from Oliver’s neighborhood. Some things I guessed, there were some twists, some unexpected information on when Caleb and Oliver first met, and an unfinished answer to what happened to the missing omegas, are they alive or dead, all setting up for the next installment, Liam’s book. Not a long read but an engaging one with enough action to keep the reader’s interest. I am hoping that one part of the ending is a red herring, but guess I’ll need the next book to know for sure. Either way, this was a good little mystery in a mystery, worth an afternoon read.

Oliver was told by his boss to write the gossip column but he had gone to school to be an investigative journalist, so on the side he was trying to find out about omegas coming up missing his brother Dylan was taken. His article on dock officials taking bribes got the attention of the Rockford so Caleb was sent by one of is brothers to kil Oliver but Caleb couldn’t do it because he smelled that Oliver was his. Then someone else tried to shoot him so Caleb made Oliver go home with him and Caleb saw all of his pictures on one of Oliver’s walls. The next morning Damon Caleb’s twin tried to act as if he was Caleb but Oliver told him to stop because he knew that he was Damon. Caleb years ago had saved Oliver from a guy trying to take advantage of him Oliver left before he could talk to Oliver and he looked for him. Found out that his brother was dead and the ones that had taken him.

Oliver is a reporter for a gossip channel but dreams of getting his articles into main stream newspapers and magazines. But he writes articles for his personal blog and it features omegas who have gone missing, mainly his brother Dylan. On the walls of his room is his obsession... Caleb Rockford, part of a family run conglomerate who has hands in dirty places and one of those places is where Dylan disappeared from. Little does he know is that Caleb has him in his sights too. Ordered by a family member to silence the reporter making waves for the family, Caleb sets out to kill Oliver, only to realize Oliver is the omega who got away several years ago. When bullets fly, Caleb takes Oliver to safety and decides to keep him!
This is a super good read! I loved Oliver and Caleb and boy are they hot together! I am looking forward to Liam's story, one more of the Rockford men!.

MM HEA OMEGAVERSE/HITMAN/JOURNALIST/ONGOING ARCH/MAFIA /VIOLENCE STRICT TOP/BOTTOM LOW ANGST DUAL 1ST PERSON POV 3 OUTTA 5 IN THE 🌶🌶🌶 DEPARTMENT
Oliver, an Omega, in search of his missing brother, is hating his job as a gossip rag columnist... He attracts unwanted attention when his obsession with the Rockford clan, especially Caleb Rockford, when he writes an independent piece for his personal blog.
Breaking into his would-be target's place, just to have his interest quip, Caleb makes a not so complicated situation... Mission impossible... When someone else attempts to murder Oliver at the same time as him... Caleb knows that he is willing to go all out to protect Oliver and help him search for his missing brother...
Can these two stay alive long enough to really kindle the spark that's there between them?
Great series follow-up. Oliver is a reporter who wants to write more in dept stories than the fluff pieces his editor keeps assigning him. He wants to write about the missing omegas of whom his brother, Dylan is one of them. He is investigating the Rockford family and especially Caleb Rockford who he may be a bit obsessed with. When Caleb is sent to murder him, the meeting escalates beyond their expectations, then plummets as someone else tries to kill Oliver. The author reveals lots of mysteries for Oliver and Caleb to solve. There are twists and turns and lots of dirty times between Oliver and Caleb. Interesting story, good flow, interesting family. Nicely done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Oliver wants to be an investigative reporter. He's an Omega so people don't think he can do it. But he does write a social column about a wealthy family. On the side he writes about missing omegas. Caleb is one of the wealthy Alpha said he writes about the most. Caleb is sent to deal with him because of one of the story she wrote. Even though I enjoyed this book immensely just like I enjoyed Leo's book I cried a lot because I was really hoping that Oliver was going to find his missing brother Dylan. But I'm definitely excited to read about the other brothers or cousins finding their mates. I was also a little disappointed that we didn't get a pregnancy confirmation for Oliver.

I LOVED this book! I'm a big omegaverse fan, but my previous reads were all fan fiction, manga, and manhwa. I decided to give omegaverse romance a go, and the Taken by His Alpha series was my first foray into it.
And I am HOOKED!
I really enjoyed the first book, "Claimed by the Boss," and immediately downloaded the second book from KU when I finished it. And I loved it even more!
Oliver is SUCH a brat, and I resonate with that on a spiritual level lol. I adore the dynamic between Oliver and Caleb, and I wasn't expecting an exhibition kink, but I am HERE FOR IT! "Caught in His Sights" is super satisfying read and hit all the points I love about omegaverse--dominating Alphas, heats, and hurt/comfort! I can't wait to devour the rest of this series!
Two words: the obsession. I just will never be over it. I was absolutely feral for this! I enjoyed so many elements of this book. Seeing Caleb protect Oliver was absolutely adorable, and I was there for every second! I think my biggest disappointment was that this book was too short. I wanted more of their story and deeper development, but I did enjoy the journey this short quick read took me on.

Strap in and hold on tight—this story launches you into a high-octane world of heart-stopping suspense and sizzling romance from the very first page. With danger lurking at every turn and passion that refuses to be tamed, the tension escalates into an explosive blend of high stakes and raw emotion. The characters are deeply compelling, their chemistry crackling with every twist, and the relentless pace keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you crave a thrilling ride where every moment pulses with intensity and desire, this one truly hits the mark!.

I love a MM Omegaverse story and Sophie writes them very well! An engaging, epic tale of an Omega lost in a crap life but trying to make it better for other Omega's in his community. When Oliver comes home one day to find the object of his obsession waiting to kill him he takes a leap of faith that will change both their stories. Caleb may be part of a Mafia family and an assassin but when he claims what's his he's never letting go!
Great characters, a gripping story and I want more of the Rockford family.

4.5⭐️Only because I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the brother ending. It felt lack lustre, and made me want something more concrete. I’m hoping that maybe there’s a better ending for him, that might be in another book? One can hope!
Oh, and this doesn’t really contain Mpreg, if your book by for babies. It only shows a pregnant omega.
Otherwise I really enjoyed the fast pace and the characters. (On a side note I recently read Silencer by Cora Rose and this was what I was hoping for in the relationship dynamic) It was hot, sassy and the sizzling tension felt real and not forced 🥰
'The man from my wall of obsession, my personal fantasy, has come to life.'
I loved this book. Good world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Oliver and Caleb, and liked the dynamic between them. I was especially drawn to both in different ways. I loved the attraction and sexual tension when they first met. And for someone seemingly about to die, Oliver was pretty calm and accepting. Caleb's control in that situation drew me in even more. And I was quickly hooked. I couldn't wait to se where things would go! 5 stars.
Omega Oliver is taken to the Rockford estate after Alpha Caleb saves him from an assassin out to kill him. Oliver meets the men of the Rockford family and has his doubts about whether or not he is worthy.
Oliver continues his mission to find out what happened to his brother Dylan and all the other missing Omegas from their neighborhood and now he has help from the Rockford family.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this paranormal shifter book it was definitely a page turner, the story was well written and the characters were amazing. Caleb Crawford is a twin, an Alpha and an assassin he had to follow-up with the person that has been writing about his family so he breaks in and waits then puts a gun to their head. Oliver Kent is an Omega writes a gossip column about society’s elite, but it's the story of the Omegas that are disappearing including his brother that he really wants to write about, when he gets home he feels something doesn't feel right. Things don't add up there are too many twists to the story so does Caleb pull the trigger.

This is an interesting take on the trope of Alpha/Omega, rich/poor romance. It starts off fairly conventionally with Alpha Caleb coming to “take care of” omega Oliver but then something happens and he ends up feeling like he should really take care of him. This was written in quite a fun way and I enjoyed the “journey” that the two men go on from that beginning.

Don't let the fast pace fool you into thinking that this story is lacking in depth and development. The characters are amazing and you learn about all of them just enough to feel like they're your friends.
The story is wonderfully written and it makes the attraction between the mmcs believable and lovely.
The dynamic is solidly built and the spice 🌶🌶🌶🌶 won't disappoint
Oliver is looking into the disapearance of his brother and other omegas. He thinks the Rockford family might have something to do with it. When Caleb Rockford is sent to kill Oliver, he asks if Caleb would have sex with him first. Before they can start someone else tries to kill him and Caleb saves him. Caleb knows that Oliver is his and there's mo way he can kill him, he's his to protect. I really enjoyed this book.
This kid only book 2 I'm not sure my heart will hold up!!!!! All the characters are perfect solo authentic you'll find yourself living right beside them - I wish I could give way more than 5 stars - there's lots of action & fighting lots of love & sexiness I couldn't out the book down Caleb & Oliver are the best if the rest of the books read like this one I'll be finished with the whole series by tomorrow the next day at the latest!!!! Thank you - Lori
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I liked how courageous Oliver is and that he gets the alpha he always wanted in Caleb. It might have been bittersweet but together they find out what happened to Oliver's brother and get a measure of justice for it.
This was a good read and I was impressed with the overall quality of the story. The characters were so well written and very likeable. The plot was spot on and world building continues to impress. All in all a very good read. Would recommend to everyone.

I think I liked this more than the first one. The story progresses a little too fast for me to really feel the impact of anything but I enjoyed it non the less. I look forward to the rest of the series.
Caleb and Oliver are great together and I didn’t foresee their original connection. I did figure out who the villain was but that didn’t detract from the story. Looking forward to Liam’s book next. Highly recommended.
