A love story between two lonely people, spun with overwhelming artistic skill. A promising debut work from a new star!
"If you knew the real me... you'd be disappointed."
Hitman Chinatsu once failed to pull the trigger on his target and it cost him his brother's life. That day, the sole witness who took Chinatsu's trembling hand had clear eyes that stared right through him... straight into the abyss within.
Five years later, a purse-snatching reunites Chinatsu with his savior: Kasumi, a young blind man searching for a way out of his own lonely world. Chinatsu knows better than to get involved with a potential witness, but he can't help but be drawn to Kasumi's radiant smile. If Kasumi knew the truth of their provenance, could he ever forgive the sins of Chinatsu's past?
The murderer incapable of killing and the dreamer incapable of seeing.
The quality. Honestly, the art alone is good enough to give it five stars right off the bat. The way Kasumi and Chinatsu are presented as polar opposites, not only in personalities, but with their portrayal, with one full of light, the most delicate strokes and the other being a walking shadow, full of gloom. What stands out for me is how we get to know them, how we get to see how they bled into each other: they're not as pure, not as corrupted.
They're just endearing. The gentleness which with they communicate has me in shambles.
100000/5, I can't believe how short it's, I would gladly read a 600-page book of these two.
Chinatsu is a hitman haunted by a mistake that cost him dearly.
Kasumi is a blind man quietly navigating his own isolation.
Their reunion weaves these characters together in a way that feels both meant to be, yet very fragile.
"When you look at me, I want to become the version of me you see".
Tropes: Gay romance/Yaoi Hitman with a conscience Found family Blind H Fated reunion Sunshine x broody Secrets and hidden identity Forbidden romance Redemption arc Steamy, but not overly graphic HEA
Touching, tragic and heartfelt. Looking forward to seeing what else this author creates.
Read this for the concept of a blind boy and assassin who can't kill, ended up crying due to the explorations of how trauma can impact your self worth to the point where you don't believe you deserve goodness, but once you find happiness and safety, you can begin to hope and break free.
Angry axolotl, I just might need you to be my manga dealer - that was incredible for a standalone! And the art, MY GOD 😩😳😍❤️🔥 Mafia killer boy who's actually a soft, sad boy (and fuck me, so handsome!), and a sweet, gentle, blind boy who completely wins him over with just his eyes and smile 😩❤️❤️
“in the deepest darkest pits of the night, i rely on the light as i walk to stop me from being swallowed by the abyss… relying on… your light.” ( ;´ - `;)
This was AMAZING. I can't believe I hadn't read it until now oh my god. It had beautiful art, the characters were so intriguing and very charming - I loved everything about it. I had thought it had more volumes, but it's only one volume!
What can you find inside? ♡ A sad assassin who is grieving the death of his brother ♡ A blind boy who just wants to be free ♡ A beautiful reunion ♡ So caring, so soft, so warm!!!
I loved this so much. I was planning to wait for it to get added to futekiya, but I read the free chapter and I had to continue immediately because I'm impatient.
This is such a sweet story about Chinatsu, who comes from a family of hitmen, but can't find it in himself to kill and a blind man named Kasumi. The two have a fated encounter of sorts and end up spending a lot of time together. Chinatsu knows he shouldn't get close to Kasumi, but he feels drawn to him and Kasumi is able to explore a world he's been sheltered from through Chinatsu.
I want to read more soft and angsty stories like this. That's what I felt after finishing this. I just loved their relationship. I loved the time they spent together and the way they both cared for each other. It was an incredibly sweet and touching story. I need more of this. The art style was beautiful and I loved the story and the writing. Definitely hoping this author puts out more works.
Just read this in one sitting, it's cute and fragile, like the mcs are so vulnerable in a good way that they completed each other!! I loved how the main focus are on the mcs and their relationship because lots of manga got sidetracked and turned out to be messy, here we can like engraved on the story as a whole. The way it was set up how they already met before just perfect how chinatsu reach our to Kasumi on that dark alley and their ending vacation was so cute and romantic.
I’ve read it online a few months ago, coming back to update the review after I’ve bought the Chinese paperback special edition with 20p booklet. Very impressed by Mori Moyori sensei’s debut BL manga and look forward to her new serialization.
This artist’s drawing style is very beautiful and delicate, every page is like a standalone illustration. The frame layout is well designed like an art house film. There’s so much emotion in her art, the eyebrows, eyelashes, pupil (reflection), hand gesture, hair strand… A large part of the story happens at night, she has good handle of light vs. dark, using gradient screentone and shading.
One of the story book (analogy) inside the manga talked about a dolphin (uke) who’s trapped inside a water tank meets a sea snake (seme) who’s poisonous and could eat the dolphin, instead he brought the dolphin to see the outside world and finally swim in the great sea.
This manga is about two young men with sad lives, they’ve actually met under unfortunate circumstances in their early teens, the uke’s a bit older than the seme because he was taller back then. The seme’s older brother 冬樹 (18) got shot by another guy because the seme hesitated to kill, the uke (wasn’t fully blind) stumbled upon the scene after hearing the loud gunshot and found the seme trembling and crying. The uke stepped on a knife and cut his hand when picking it up, the seme reached out to help and wrapped it.
The seme 榊千夏 was forced to become a professional killer by his dad, he’s been living in guilt since his brother’s death 5 years ago. The dad went nuts and killed his mom too and the seme lost his loving family. Now the seme still cannot use gun or knife therefore can only punch people with his fist.
The uke 御縁佳澄 became completely blind since 5 years ago and then been isolated by his parents, living in a hidden small room in their 200 year old large family ryokan. His younger brother 聰 will be taking over the family business as heir, so there’s no space for him in this household.
The two men meet again after 5 years, when seme caught a thief running away with uke’s bag. The seme recognized the uke right away and worried about whether the uke still remembered the murder scene, if so he would have to eliminate the threat as required… The uke naively brought the seme back home because he wanted to become friends, while the seme kept close watch on the uke’s behaviors to assess the risk.
The atmosphere is a little dark and sad, but the plot is about mutual salvation and healing. The uke is pure and innocent, always alone and trapped, still curious about the outside world. The seme has seen all the dark and evil things in the world, feels lost and wants to run away.
The seme became the uke’s first friend and introduced him to many new experiences with his remaining senses (hearing, touching, smelling), giving him freedom and feeling alive for the first time. The uke is like a ray of light in the seme’s dark sleepless nights, cleansing his soul and forgiving his guilt, stopped him from following his dad’s path. Together they were able to escape from their controlling families and rewrite their own fate by starting a new life together.
The white flower in uke’s garden is Marvel-of-peru (four o’clock flower) and its meaning is very suitable for uke’s personality.
I wish the book could’ve been longer by a few chapters, it’s a really beautiful read nonetheless. In the extra booklet the seme came back home after work to find the uke tipsy because he mistakenly drank fruity alcohol and they had some sweet sexy time.
I'm not much of a fan of stories yakuza related, but I was lured to this one by the art. I wish this could have been longer so we could get a bit more depth about the characters, their background and stories. But the art was stunning and the story very sweet, all things considered, and that made up for the rest.
This is an author to keep an eye on, their art is truly amazing.
