This is a unique book on Fallingwater but unlike others that focus on the architecture, this one is focused entirely on the art and objects contained within. Most of the items were collected by Edgar Kaufman Jr, and the photography captures closeups of many works inside the house as they were lived with rather than a museum/studio photoshoot.
The photography is great - all new and original photos in full color with many full page and double page spreads. Even though the focus is on the interior art and objects, there are many architectural photos of the exterior and interior to supplement the art photos.
The text is a collection of several essays m, each detailing a different region of art or type of art found within the house. Reading this book is very insightful into how the Kaufman’s collected art and then helped spread awareness and interest in new areas of art and design within the US.
This is still more of a coffee table book but it has a unique and previously untouched subject. Overall, the quality of the book and its design is great, save for a few noticeable grammar/spelling errors which should not be found in a book of this standard.
