Greetings from India! I am an engineering doctorate from IIT Delhi, India with an inclination towards children's literature. I believe books are a good way to teach kids important lessons, which could be otherwise difficult. I enjoy reading children's books, and I have recently started writing kid's picture books with an aim to imbibe reading habits and values in children through the magic of books. Other than work and writing, I love playing sports - badminton, cricket, chess, and table tennis.
Wow, loved this book and its critical moral for kids! FREE on Amazon with Kindle Unlimited: so snap it up FAST. It could change your kids’ lives!
When I was thirteen, in 1963, our grandmother came to live with us.
She brought her vast, mysterious book collection with her. I was entranced. I’d spend many fascinated hours poring through it.
But it didn’t stop my outdoor playing with my friends! No, for that had been ingrained in us, growing up near the countryside. Kids, you’ll never truly relish your reading unless you read outdoors, where you can put your gadgets down and share a few laughs with your friends now and then.
That’s what I do - all summer! Vedika is right.
Life is meant to be lived out loud. Outdoors…
For the outdoors is real. Online gaming isn’t. And it’s a money pit for your parents.
You’ll get tired too fast. Your sleep will suffer.
Good read and good message for children and parents who are wanting to limit their access to the Internet, especially if they wanna be able to touch grass and enjoy the outside
Limit Your Screen Time helps children learn that too much of any type of screen time can hurt their health and education. Great reading with very nice text. All children should read before getting into screen time
Limit Your Screen Time: A Children’s Book Promoting Outdoor Play, Healthy Living, and Breaking Screen Addiction for Kids Aged 3-10 by Vedika Agrawal, Kunal Das This book starts out with a nameplate and it opens on a family playing with toys. Colorful, informational, educational, children's book about limiting their screen time. Rohan is the little child that is always been so busy til he gets a mobile and a laptop and discovers racing and shoot em up games. He spends so much time now sitting playing that he doesn't realize the effect it's having on his body. A cousin comes to play and he just wants to show them the computer games. Josh visits for a week and the neighbors come to ask him to play outside. Parents tell Rohan he should go play also after he had spent some time in bed with a headache from the overage of the computers. Rohan figures he can beat them all because he does so well at the computer games but when he actually gets outside he needs help to climb a tree and he's the last on the bike ride. When I grew up the whole neighborhood played outside til dusk. We had chores in the morning then bike riding, ball games, beach trips. etc When our children grew up we had just gotten a compute and we all had to share. After school they'd get to use it for an hour, if they didn't turn it off when I asked I just turned the power off. Harsh lesson to learn but they got it. Even today they limit their time and their children's times on the computers. There is so much more to do to keep you healthy. Beautiful realistic story. Lots of helpful information at the end in the health corner. Other works by the authors are listed at the end.
Rohan is a young boy who discovers games on his phone and computer. He starts spending more time indoors playing games, than doing other childhood things like riding his bike or playing outside with his peers.
His cousin Josh visits and enjoys playing with the different boys in the neighborhood. Eventually, Rohan joins along and learns how nice it is to be outside again. He was out of shape physically from being indoors so much.
This book does a nice job, exploring the affects of being in the house and having lots of screen time. It’s so important for children to be physically active, to be outside in nature and socially engaged in person with other children.
I highly recommend this book for parents who are looking at ways to limit screen time and looking at alternative things to fill up their children’s lives that are healthy and rewarding. Ideas include gardening, playing sports together, spending time together as a family, etc..
I am a grandmother and my youngest grandchild enjoys playing games on his computer. My daughter has looked at limiting screen time which has been beneficial. It can be very engrossing and time consuming, causing loss of sleep, and also interferes with school work.
This book has a very good message for children today. I did not grow up with screens and spent many a summer day on my bike and playing with the neighborhood kids! This book is well written and the illustrations are perfect for engaging a young reader with the story.
A terrific way to ‘suggest’ the advantages of limiting screen time!
Author Kunal Das is a pediatric oncologist and stem cell transplant physician, and joins with co-author Vedika Agrawal, an engineering PhD, in writing children’s books. Their LET’S LEARN PICTURE BOOKS series includes MY PANDEMIC DIARY, GOOD TOUCH - BAD TOUCH, and now LIMIT YOUR SCREENTIME. Creative Knot provides the charming illustrations.
The astute authors tackle the ever-growing problem facing kids (of all ages!!!) - spending excessive time on screens of cellphones, computers, and tablets result in nearly blocking out the real world of nature and interaction with other humans. Rohan is a youngster who was active until he discovered screen time games and cartoons, becoming obsessed with just interacting with his screens. His cousin Josh visits and a whole new world of participating in the wonders of nature, play, and sports is opened, changing Ronan’s habit of spending excessive time with his games and cartoons to loving the real joys of living in the real world!
Fun to read with important concepts, this book continues a very fine series of books for children by two outstanding authors. Very highly recommended.
A Resonating and Relatable Story for a Modern Problem
The story of Rohan, a boy drawn away from outdoor play by screens, will sadly feel all too familiar to many parents. This beautifully illustrated and much-needed book handles this common challenge with an enjoyable, gentle and clear narrative, making its important message about balance and healthy living easy for kids to grasp. It reminds children—and parents—of the simple joys of the real world. As Rohan rediscovers the thrill of playing outside with his cousin, the vibrant illustrations perfectly capture the fun he's been missing. The book is more than a story; it's a valuable tool to start a conversation and encourage kids to step away from screens and into the great outdoors. It's a fantastic read that offers hope and a path toward a healthier lifestyle. The activities section at the end was a great addition too! Highly recommended!
“Limit Your Screentime” by Vedika Agrawal is a practical guide that speaks to the concern of excessive screen use by our children. It is straightforward in providing examples of the negative impact of devices on our children and advice on how to balance their use with lived experiences. I love books that encourage families to experience the natural world with their children, engaging them in outdoor activities with curiosity and wonder while growing their brains and building resilience. This is a book relatable to all ages and one that speaks in a language easily read by preteens and beyond and it provides a great conversation starter for parents and children Overall, "Limit Your Screentime" is a useful resource for parents to promote healthier, more meaningful activities for their children and reduce the negative impact of screens on their mental and physical health!
I have loved most of the books by Vedika and Kumal, this one was a bit disappointing. The age group I would suggest this book for is 8 -12. Younger children will have trouble with the longer words and some of the storyline. The artwork is well done, but not what younger children like, such as bright colors. The lesson that this book is trying to get children to understand is well written and needed at this time. Though the problems that excessive screen time can cause were glossed over, I think that the children need to know what screen time can cause would help them to see that they are having those problems too. Overall, I did enjoy the book, but did have to take 1 1/2 star off for the problems that I listed above
Limit Your Screen Time is such a timely and meaningful book for families navigating today’s tech-filled world. It delivers an important message about balance and healthy habits in a way that’s easy for children to understand and fun to read.

A wonderful conversation starter for parents and teachers alike, and a great reminder for kids that some of the best adventures happen offline.

An educational story about what too much screen time can do to your body, overall health, and your life. I love that Rohan’s brother and friends supported him in this journey.
I especially loved the Activity Time pages at the end of the story. Fun activities that encourage kids to move their bodies, including a weekly outdoor bingo challenge, roll & play challenge, and a 5 senses walk.
I would definitely share this story with kids to help reduce their screen time.
This is a great book about kids and screen time usage. My nephew loves his games and when we read this book together he noticed how Rohan was spending too much time with his games. This nicely illustrated book walks through Rohan’s escalating time spent on electronic devices, to the point it is affecting everything and everyone around him. I liked the way a friend showed him that outside play can be more fun, instead of simple preaching from an adult. The highlight of this book to me is the activity section after the story. It contains simple, achievable activities to encourage kids to be active.
