Neith arrives in Livanbridge with a single purpose: to restore the mysterious Ashenford Villa. What she doesn't anticipate is being swept up by an age-old prophecy and the villa's owner, Theo Ashenford. His charm is as deep as the secrets he keeps, hidden like the forest that encircles them. Their connection deepens, revealing a world where werewolves aren't just legends but reality. As their destinies intertwine more than Neith ever thought possible, their newfound bond becomes a target for those dreading prophecy's realisation. Neith must grapple with her destined role—will she embrace it? Will Theo's secrets tear them apart or bring them closer?
'Bride of Ashena' is a novella brimming with romance, mystery, and folklore. Perfect for lazy afternoons or sunny beach days, this light read will capture your heart and have you turning pages faster than you can say 'werewolf prophecy'!
Agneeshikha is a published author, mostly of peer-reviewed research papers and academic book chapters, where the drama is strictly theoretical. Born and raised in India, she pursued her postgraduate studies in England before moving to Italy for her PhD. By day, she is a researcher, navigating the world of academia with citations and conference deadlines. By night (and after at least five cups of coffee), she trades footnotes for fiction, writing stories filled with slow-burn romance, goofy MMCs, witty banter, and characters who may or may not suffer from existential crisis.
Bride of Ashena is something that not only gives you thrills but a feeling of tenderness too.
When I saw this book’s synopsis, it intrigued me to go straight ahead and read it. I feel honoured that Agneeshikha has given me this chance to read it for whetting her already fine crafted debut work. This was not first time I was doing it but it was one of the very few where I enjoyed as if it is coming from a born talent. Yes, She is one of a kind. How she put her thoughts into words was so palpable.
This is a story of Neith, a girl from a city who got the chance to restore the mysterious Ashenford Villa on the countryside. Neith for an older child of her parents, shown so calm and responsible, which was so realistic. She is a girl with her own world and just focusing on her career to get better and better. This villa she assigned to renovate and restore to its original design, is not just some old building but in itself is carrying centuries old history of a clan which kept this town of Livanbridge safe. But, "Will this restoration work of villa is just a way to unfold the mystery behind her to be the part of that clan and its chores? Or she will be doomed while finishing her work on this gothic architecture because of the right or wrong doings of the past which is directly connected to Ashenford's?"
And then, there is Theo Ashenford, a young man who’s carrying legacy of his clan who's blood line get transform into a Werewolf. For world, he is a rich guy who’s handling business but for real he is something else. Nevertheless, "Is this transformation enough to make safe his existence when he already lost his all previous generations to the enemies who don’t want him to survive and want to take hold of Livanbridge by killing him and destroy his clan’s existence from this world?"
To know the answers to both of aforementioned questions, you have to read this thoroughly and continue till its sequel to solve the whole suspense.
Both protagonists were cast with very fine details on their characters and importance to this Novel. I really liked Emily's cameo, reminding me of the character of Alice Cullen (one of my favorite) from Twilight. I really wished if Emily’s role was bit more of what included. Though I am ‘Team Jacob’ so can’t be more serious and excited to read this. Cora was more like Bonnie Bennett from Vampire Diaries but with an age and experience. Vampires and werewolves have always been my obsession both in books and movies, but with class, and surely, we can see the reflection of it here in this Ashenford mystery. Now, when I was reading about Neith and Theo, with Cora and Emily, it came to me as one complete package to enjoy.
Neith is naïve and commoner; however, Theo is a rich heritage person. This is a bit of a mediocre concept but to connect with centuries old stories one must be of such an aura, so that was quite appealing as well. However, I believe the roles of Mike and Emily must be planned more to enhance the script. Side kicks always make the story more stronger and gripping. In addition, Vilkins were also not properly described and suddenly wiped off with just one single werewolf transformation of Theo. For a main villain, they were so weak in this part. The concept of Blood moon should be properly depicted to give more impact to the story-line rather than allowing Theo to become wolfe at an instance, that too prior to that very moment of Red moon rising in Sky. Coming to the chemistry between Neith and Theo, I felt that they have been made their seat belts fasten as they were given not much time to cook their love story. Such a fast-paced love story may disappoint the lovers of paranormal romance as the aroma of love was hazy. However, the intimacy of these love birds was so clean & full of tenderness and that was the most gripping part of their bonding. But because Ed Cullen was mentioned for reference at one point, so readers will surely miss what they must have experienced with Isabella and Edward. About detailing and not depth of their bond, there must be more to their intimacy, not dark but clean, but must be there with minute-checks. Reminding me of Ed Cullen, quoting an excruciating quote here, “I know love and lust don't always keep the same company.” This could be a better length novella with those additions because with the type of characters author built, there is full scope to extend it into a long length work. Few other things need more thoughts, such as, No buying of dresses by Neith as she only came to do her professional job. How could she be ready to wear dresses for occasions; say red dress while going to meet Cora after finalizing her wedding with Theo, without shopping or planned preparations. I also advise against putting an exact date (author agreed to make amendments too) but to use ancient calendars' terms like we have 'Panchang' here in India which not just tells a date as a mathematical figure but the name for the days based on the scientific movements of heavenly bodies, say, eclipse, Ekadashi {the eleventh lunar day of the waxing (Shukla Paksh) and waning (Krishna Paksh) lunar cycle of Moon in a Vedic calendar month}. And this Panchang has it’s existence way older than this epoch. She must try to make the ancient concepts sound as only ancient, not as today's way of writing where readers found themselves bit familiar but disconnected. I say, take readers to your world, and not vice-versa to make connections. I want to see more character play of Evy in coming sequel. I believe there will be in detail on who and why he/she wrote ‘Ashena Chronicles’ that we probably see in the prequel which would be mostly holding 2nd & 16th century stories for creating links to this legacy. Apart from such few points that I mentioned, I must say I enjoyed the story but the ending was a bit flat unless there will be more drama to this short novella, as I already highlighted. Although, those Yellow eyes of Neith in last were in itself a mysterious as well as a dreamscape ending. What you call it… a surrealistic.. or a cliff-hanger...
Foremost thought I had after and while reading it is that it has a depth somewhere which will surely carry with more gravity in upcoming writings from this debutant. All she need is to extend her words to display more potential of her thoughts behind it all. All suggestions I put forth were not the negative marks on this debut novel but the scope for improvement, which keeps all the potent to make this more gripping. Moreover, I really hope to read both the prequel and sequel with elation as this overall setting of Ashenford mystery with Neith & Theo as compatible couple makes it lively. The way story was moving you won't be able to put this book down. I really want to appreciate author’s mind behind creating the helix of romance, werewolves and history.
This is a modern novel with a supernatural take on it as well. I will say I was sure how I would like this but I ended up enjoying it very much. We are introduced to Neith who is in charge of renovating this old manor. However, there are a lot of secrets surrounding the owner and the house. Suddenly when Neith finds herself digging for answers she gets a lot more than she bargained for. Overall this is a very good book and I am thankful for the opportunity to read it.
A book is an escape from reality for us readers and this was a pretty good escape from the humdrum of daily life. The book was pretty unexpected.
This story is about a pack of werewolves and the "Gentleman" Alpha. Yeah you read it right. In all the fantasies the Male Lead Characters are always so dominating and possessive and macho. But, our Theo is quite the contrary. He is soft, and caring, charming and gentle without the slightest hint of dominance. Theo is a green flag. Guys, be like Theo!
Neith on the other hand is an independent woman and a talented architect. The story starts when Neith gets a job to renovate the Ashenford mansion which belongs to our charming Theo. The Ashenford legacy is more than what meets the eyes and Neither starts probing from the very first day. The story has a sweet balance of love and fantasy making it quite a good romantasy. There is also a prophecy involved which makes it more interesting. The competition between the two packs of wolves was quite palpable.
The author's writing style is commendable. I especially enjoyed how she described the woods and the mansion and the mystic rituals. The book gives a cozy vibe and is a perfect read for fall. I would have preferred it if it was a novel instead of a novella. But if you want a good romantasy in less than 200 pages then this is literally it!
In an age filled with dark romance, this book is a breath of fresh air. It is a slow burn and I am so glad there is not much spice, as I hate spice. I like more real content in the story than mindless spicy scenes. Overall I enjoyed it thoroughly and definitely recommend this book to you all.
Rating : ⭐⭐⭐⭐
P.S. I will also be discussing this book in my YouTube Channel. So stay tuned. 😊🫶🏻
I received this book as an arc and my thoughts are honest and my own!
Oh my goodness, this book tells such a captivating tale of romance and destiny with an overly sweet gentleman werewolf Alpha and a human female whose fates are intertwined.
The werewolf Alpha is a refreshingly kind and considerate, and his genuine concern for the well-being of Neith drives much of this story, which is just so beautiful! I really love that he isn't an alpha hole and is just so sweet, unlike many portrayals of alphas in shifter romances.
The romance does unfold gradually, so this is a slow-burn with no spice, like it is said it happens but not in the nity gritty detail.
The world-building in this book is particularly noteworthy. The author’s descriptive prowess brings to life a vivid and enchanting setting that complements the narrative beautifully. Every detail, from the landscapes to the intricacies of prophecies to just ever detail that may normally get missed and it is rendered with such care that it enhances the overall book!
This book is a must-read for fans of slow-burn romance with a blend of sweet romance, well-drawn characters, and immersive world-building.
"Bride Of Ashena" by Agnesheekha Rating : 4.5/5★ Genre : Fantasy, Romance
Bride of Ashena is the first book in the debut novel by 'Agneeshikha', which has the perfect combination of romance & fantasy. An alluring story stuffed with pack of werewolves, Alpha/Beta themes, Fated Mates & prophecies.
Neith D'Souza is an enthusiastic architect, sets foot in the city of Livanbridge with the purpose of restoring Ashenford Villa. At the interval of renovating the house, she contrives that this is something more than just some ancient place, it carries the long & history of Ashenford clan. As her bonding with the Villa owner Theo strengthens time by time, she discovers handful of secrets bestowing her in every way, secrets that she never wanted to contemplate.
Theo Ashenford, is young at his age to get to carry the legacy of the Ashenford. He may seem like some rich guy, who looks after business, but there's more about him & his clan. Theo is dressed with consummate elegance to Neith, until his background divulges a world where transforming into werewolves weren't myths.
As the truths reveal & realisations strike, both of them have to take the hold of the prophecy and confront obstacles behind it. & this time, they've to interlace their fingers.
Especially, I'm totally blown away by the epilogue twist! It has those clashing developments that enthralled me to read it from the beginning. The fast paced Romance was in keeping with the entire story. It drew me in an utopian world of fantasy that we can expect in a romantasy novel. Also, it shows the depth of love & trust in a relationship and how a bonding full of faith & deep affection embraces the uncertainties together. It was such a prodigious experience to dive into the entrancing world of 'Bride of Ashena' with the werewolves theme & such an endearing love story. Theo & Neith had a magnetic relationship, they were super sweet!!
Lastly, what I'm gonna say is that this book was really cut out for me with it's own vibes, so it's a must recommendation if those tropes works for you!
In a world of fast-paced and supremely intense dark romance, it was actually super refreshing to read the slow burn but immersive world of Bride Of Ashena!
I was honoured to receive this book as an ARC and I throughly enjoyed it, as mentioned it was a refreshing read from all my recent reads!. We love ourselves a strong bad FMC and a green flag boy from time time!
Anyone who has known and followed me knows I love character building and world building and giving off more than just your 2 dimensional characters, and this totally served, and I was hooked!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a cute and immersive quick read! Plus, that bonus chapter I was also blessed to read. Wow, I loved it and love Neith and Theo so much!
Thank you to the author who contacted me and offered me a free digital version of her book. I appreciated the read. The Bride of Ashena is cute and quick, a simple story but with beautiful and descriptive world building. Agneeshikha has a wonderful talent for describing the landscape and the world around her characters. Overall a really cute, sweet slow burn romance with a fast paced storyline.
I really enjoyed this read!! It was such a cute novella and I can't wait for the story to continue to unfold! Cora is my absolute favorite character! If you are looking for a good quick read this book is for you!
This novella was easy to read and is full of interesting lore. But unfortunately, it just wasn’t for me.
I love the premise of the book, but for me the execution of some of the elements of the story fall flat. I wish the book was longer, as the story felt very rushed. Because of this, the romance between the MMC and FMC was very insta love and I am not a fan of that trope. However, the author made sure that the FMC didn’t loose herself in this relationship, like many romance books do. The FMC was adamant that she is still her own person and wants the relationship to add to her life, not become it. I liked this aspect of the story a lot.
If you’re a fan of fast paced fantasy romance then you should pick up this book!
Thank you to Agneeshikha for the book in exchange for my honest review.
This was a really sweet and cozy werewolf romance. The FMC Neith starts a new renovation project in Livanbridge town where she meets the MMC Mr. Ashenford. Neith is drawn to the woods, where she sees golden glowing eyes staring back at her. She gets nervous and runs back to her AirBNB. As the story moves on, Neith gets to know Mr. Theo Ashenford, but keeps feeling like there is just something else about him that she can't quite put her finger on. She starts to investigate, but Theo tries to stop her from discovering his secerts.
The Ashena chronicles is a book that Neith tries to purchase, but Theo sneaks in and grabs it right from under her nose before she can look further at it. This book holds the secret that Theo has been keeping from Neith....
I love paranormal romance, and this story did not disappoint. I always enjoy a fated mates story; this one was more fast paced, being a shorter story, but still was very enjoyable. You really felt the MC's falling for each other, aside from their fated destiny. I thought that the FMC Neith really took her destiny well, considering if she decided not to move forward with it, she could have negatively affected an entire clan of werewolves. That is a lot of pressure for someone to deal with, but she only had a slight doubt, before she realized Theo's feelings for her were real, unrelated specifically to them being fated to be together.
I enjoyed the history behind the Ashena werewolf clan, which explained the reason for the destined main characters. I also really enjoyed the "innocence" of Neith, an aspect you don't read about too often in stories.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I have only read a handful of fantasy novellas that are worth noting, and this book is worth noting! Typically, I think the world building and character development necessary for a really good fantasy story can't happen realistically, or even remotely well done, in a shorter read. However, Agneeshika creates a fantastical world of myth, legend, and magic within the 153 pages of Bride of Ashena. Of course, the characters, plot, and world could have been built out and developed further in a longer novel, but this novella hit every necessary point and was still readable in a short time frame. I was quickly attached and committed to Neith and Theo, the FMC and MMC. Because of the short length, some of the events were foreseeable, but this did not take away from the storyline at all. The time lapses were quickly explained so it was clear the story didn't occur over a matter of hours or days, but the key elements were present and had me hooked by the end of the first chapter. I won't give away any details, but if you love fantasy books as much as I do, and you want a great story to soothe the need for magic between longer novels, this is the read for you. I look forward to more from this magical author!
This story grabbed my attention after finishing chapter one. It kept me intrigued flipping page after page wanting to know more about the prophecy and the Ashenford family. It started with mystery of the pull that Neith had towards the woods and those gold eyes in the dark that kept watching her. As the story progressed I loved all the angst between Theo and Neith. All the characters were so lovable. I did want to have more depth to what the prophecy was and how they all came to this point in the book, loved the circle of stones reference and would love to get some more on that part of the woods and what was the history behind it. so I will definitely keep and eye on the prequel. And then the rest of the story after. I can’t wait to see what happens to Neith. The epilogue did leave me wanting a lot more. I think the Author did an amazing job with this debut novel. The pace and wold building and the details were so well written . It was a fast paced fun, sweet story for sure. Looking forward for more❤️
Some of my favored quotes
“I didn't know you had such a fierce side.”
“Are you trying to bribe me into marrying you, Mr. Ashenford?”
“I want to create new memories with you in this house, starting from now.”
“We're both idiots, I think. But we're idiots together.”
"Bride of Ashena" was a thoroughly enjoyable read that exceeded my expectations, especially in its portrayal of the alpha werewolf character. Unlike the typical trope of a manipulative, violent, or dark alpha, the author presents a refreshing take with a gentle and understanding creature at the centre of the story. This unique approach to character development added a layer of depth and relatability that kept me engaged throughout the book. The dynamics between them were well-crafted, with the romance being particularly beautifully written. The relationship between the main characters was beautifully developed, full of warmth, chemistry, and emotional depth. The author did a fantastic job of creating a love story that felt both believable and captivating. I would highly recommend "Bride of Ashena" to anyone looking for a well-written and thoughtfully constructed tale that goes beyond the usual expectations.
This book was a really good fast read. Agneeshikha has a way with words and being so descriptive, I truly loved it. This novella was captivating and it was refreshing to read about a FMC who didn’t lose herself in a relationship and be overpowered by the MMC. Neith stood her ground on taking things on her time. She voiced finding a balance within her new role and her past role.
I rated it a 4/5 ⭐️ because I would have loved to get more scenes of Neith and Theo building their relationship together. Their relationship is instalove but the weeks that passed by would have been a great time to have them go out on dates with each other or even have more intimate conversations.
0/5 🌶️ there was relatively no spice in this book and that is OK! I am a spice lover but not at books need it. I enjoyed this book without the spice and enjoyed the unfolding of the characters and the plot.
I am excited for what’s to come for Neith and Theo 🤞🏼❤️
This book is a quick read at just 150 pages, but trust me, you are in for a treat! So much happens within those pages, and it’s a real ride from start to finish. The third-person point of view worked well and actually helped me connect with the characters more. There’s just the right amount of description to create a vivid picture without slowing down the story. I also appreciated that there was no spice—just a genuine, heartfelt love connection, which felt refreshing.
While I think the plot could’ve benefited from a little more action or perhaps a longer build-up of mystery, I really enjoyed how things unfolded. A twist or betrayal would’ve made it even more exciting, but overall, it was a solid and engaging read!
If you're in a reading slump and want something both interesting and easy to get through, this is the perfect book for you.
In just a few days, I was completely hooked by the characters, the names, and the story.
It felt like I was back in my teenage years, discovering this secret world of werewolves and I’m so grateful for this book because it gave me a fresh energy to dream again, just like I used to.
The story is written so smoothly and in such detail, with easy yet elegant vocabulary that helps you visualize everything instantly. That’s one of the reasons I’ve been recommending this book to literally everyone I know! :)))
Plus, it’s refreshingly clean—you can even read it to your younger siblings. In a world full of unnecessary adult content, books like this truly feel like a saviour.
So yes, this book has earned a permanent spot on my bedside table, and I find myself happily re-reading it again and again.
The book is a captivating blend of fantasy and romance. The main characters are well-developed and relatable. The story imparts the idea that destiny plays a pivotal role in one's life, and that true love may be found when it is least anticipated. My only critique would be that the author could have included more romantic moments between the protagonists, Neith and Theo. While fantasy-romance stories are not typically my preferred genre, this narrative possesses a unique charm that draws the reader in through its excellent storytelling. I would highly recommend this novella to all.
This is a cute and quick novella to read, only 150 pages! It’s a simple story that has beautiful descriptions and word building. The story flows well and was fast paced. It’s a beautiful story about fated mates, true love and feeling a deep connection. I’m looking forward to reading the next book with the way this one ended!
A very easy and steady read for me. I enjoyed the character build up and passion both MC's have. I live prophecies come to life in stories and this had just the right touch! There was no installed either, which I appreciate. A wonderful first novella for this author! I'm excited for book 2!
SOOO GOOD!! I was engrossed from page one literally. The story flowed so well and the fast paced reading was so easy to get into. It was such a beautiful story about fated mates and true love. I can’t wait for the next one!!!
Bride of Ashena is such a good, quick read — I honestly couldn’t put it down. I ended up reading 4 to 5 chapters in one go without even realizing it. The story pulls you in right away, and it’s written in a way that’s both engaging and easy to follow. Loved it!
This is a great, quick fantasy read!! It’s beautifully written with great descriptions. This is the perfect book to read with your morning cup of coffee, to start your day.
This was a cosy, insta-love, no spice (off page) fantasy romance that usually would not be my thing. That said, I found this novella endearing for reasons outside of the main romance. The lore and mythology of the Ashena clan was intriguing and written in minute detail. The emotional complexity of Neith and Theo is also to be commended. Theo is a green flag, tender, and considerate Alpha, which I found refreshing. Neith is an independent, intelligent, and compassionate FMC. She is passionate about her work and her individuality, refusing to give these things up in the name of becoming the Bride of Ashena. I was very proud of her for that. Overall, it was an enjoyable quick read.
This book was like twilight meets a hallmark movie vibes and I was here for it!
It was a very quick read about the relationship between Neith (human) and Theo (werewolf). They meet when Neith comes to town to help with the restoration of Ashenford Villa and their connection is undeniable (workplace romance/forced proximity).
I enjoyed the lore surrounding the history of Ashenford and I enjoyed how the story was constantly moving! I can’t wait to read the next book!
This book was a sweet short surprise. The way the author kept details and world building all while keeping the story shortened is so wonderful. Definitely recommend.
This book was a sweet short surprise. The way the author kept details and world building all while keeping the story shortened is so wonderful. Definitely recommend.
I really enjoyed this read!! It was such a cute novella and I can't wait for the story to continue to unfold! Cora is my absolute favorite character! If you are looking for a good quick read this book is for you!
Unfortunately this wasn't for me. It will appeal to readers who like "quick" novellas with instant romance, whereas I prefer longer novels with more character development and slow-burn romance.
