Kissing Coach

Rate this book
Feather Hilborn is a style and dating coach. Despite what you may have heard, she is not a “kissing coach.”

Devin Nelson is confident and suave, not the kind of guy you'd guess has never kissed a girl. He's cute, too, which is making it even more difficult for Feather to resist trying to kiss him.

Her first attempt sends him running ...

Lectura rápida, corta, fresca, agradable y cero problemas.

I really enjoyed this book. Great writing with witty banter and some heartfelt moments between a "life coach" who helps people get over certain social anxieties, and a male client who is afraid to kiss anyone. At first our "life coach" wants to turn the kissing lessons over to someone less directly involved, but due to circumstances she becomes the one to try and break our hero's kissing dilemma. And, of course, sparks fly but its a bumpy road to a regular romance.

I liked that Ms. Strong stealthily worked in a few problems in both our main characters' life stories that really affected both their abilities to have relationships. I liked this book so much that I have already purchased another Mimi Strong book to read.

I was in the mood for a teacher/student relationship and assumed that The Kissing Coach was a sports coach and a student relationship. However, it turned out to be a Kissing Coach /Relationship Coach type novel. In The Kissing Coach, we meet Feather, who though her love life isn't something to gloat about, she finds it easy to help teach others out there and get them their guy or in her case as she mainly helps males - their dream girl. Her latest client, however, is about to be the most challenging case yet. He doesn't look like her usual clientele, in fact, he is so hot he could be a Calvin Klein Model. Enter her newest client Devin, he may be hot and not lacking in the fashion and looks department. His problems go deeper - he has never been kissed and is afraid of kissing. Feather has always built herself an invisible wall between her and her clients so that she never falls in love with them. However, Devin will penetrate that wall as she starts to fall for him. Can Feather stay professional or after a few sessions will their relationship cross the line from a working relationship to something more personal? The Kissing Coach by Mimi Strong ended up being quite a sweet clean romance read with no teacher/student relationships lurking around.

The Kissing Coach is a fairly quick and light read. I picked it because I wanted something fun to read and from the synopsis, it sounded like a great short book to pass a few hours with…okay, like an hour and a half, but you know me by now, I get sucked into good books and need to finish them asap.

This is the first book I have read by Mimi Strong and it won’t be the last. I actually have For You on my kindle too, which will be getting a read very soon. Ms. Strong had me laughing, swooning, crying, frustrated and over all enjoying every page of her book. Her writing is easy-going and will have you turning the pages wanting to know more about the story. Never once did I put the book down – I read it straight through, wanting to get to know what was going to happen next.

The Kissing Coach is about Feather Hillborn. She’s a style and dating coach, who gets paid for helping people out who come to her. She gets paid to dish out advice that could be given for free, but you’re more likely to listen to someone if you pay them…right?

Then along comes Devin, her new client and all of a sudden she feels this attraction to him. He’s confident and good looking but he has a phobia. He’s never kissed anyone and he wants to change that.

He wants to be able to not be scared to kiss a girl so he comes to Feather for help.
Feather tries to keep her attraction to herself whilst helping Devin. But it’s obvious that there is chemistry between them as well as their fun banter between them both.

Feather has a rule that she won’t start a relationship when coaching a client, although she really wants a relationship or something with Devin. But she is perfectly find with coaching Devin on kissing, if it means she gets his lips on hers. But as she tries to ease him into the whole kissing situation, things get a little out of hand and he flies.

This happens another time after but the third time is the lucky charm. But then what happens when Devin isn’t so scared to kiss anyone anymore?

Feather is 22, she hasn’t been in a relationship in a long time and this never really bothered her. She was doing well with her job, liked dishing out advice and helping other people get into relationships but then Devin arrived and it changed her whole perception on everything. She wanted a relationship, she wanted a guy to call her own and she wanted to be loved.

Feather to me, seemed old beyond her years, maybe due to what happened in her past (You’ll find out). She was cocky, and knew how to banter along with Devin. But you could see her vulnerable side as well, the side where she is still a 22 year old woman who can be upset, who can make mistakes and sit in front of the TV with ice-cream and your pjs wallowing in self-pity. Despite the shortness of the book, you do see her journey. Journey through keeping her secret from her mother, see her bond with her mother, see her feel all these emotions she has hidden away, see her grow up and fall in love. I really like Feather as a character.

Devin is also 22. He’s a manager at this parent’s hotel. Hes confident, he’s cocky and cheeky but he’ also has a phobia of kissing. He doesn’t know what it’s stemmed from though but he gets anxious over it. This is why he wants Feather to help him. I really liked Devin. You could see just how afraid he was to kiss, how much he really wanted to though, and I could understand his freak-outs the first two times when he ran from Feather, yet he kept coming back. He was determined to get over this fear.

Once he kissed Feather, he was like a different man, like a weight had been lifted and he couldn’t stop once he started. Wanting to take it all the way – ahum.
You do find out what made him have this phobia and I felt so sorry for him but I just couldn’t understand why he pushed Feather away. They could have saved the pain of not being together all those months if they had just spoken about it.

But of course, there is a HEA – well they should be or I wouldn’t be reading it haha. It was a great ending, one which had me giggly and pretty much summed up their fun and bantery relationship.

There are some sex scenes involved in this book. They aren’t heavy but they do notch up the steam factor a smidge. Their first time is funny – it was to me. I didn’t know if it was believable though (You’ll understand) but then maybe it was? Oh I don’t know but you can see how much they like one another; their chemistry and need for one another, especially the last sex scene where I was swooning over what Devin was saying to Feather. So sweet!!

Okay, now my favourite scene. I have to say it’s a part where they were role-playing in Feather’s house. When they were helping Devin and they pretended they were on a date and Feather was showing him around the house. Just the start of the role-playing had me chuckling and it was a perfect playing field to make Devin relaxed and kiss Feather whenever he wanted to without feeling anxious.

So if you are looking for a fluffy, fun and funny (Ooo alliteration ;)) book, then The Kissing Coach is definitely the book for you. You will love Devin, you will love Feather and generally, you will love this book too!

This was a recovery read for me. And it worked perfectly. A real sweet and short read that had enough laughter and tension to be enjoyable.

Feather is a Style and Dating coach. She has a knack for giving advice and although it all seems to be common sense she has learned that when you pay for it, you take it. So she is making a living helping men and woman who find that they just can get a relationship to work. Then she meets Devin. He has never kissed a girl and is tired of being afraid to do so. He has hired her to help him - they have a sassy back and forth and their is definite chemistry.

But Feather has a policy on relationships with clients, but Devin is hot - like model hot and she is perfectly find being the one to help him get over his fear of kissing. As she tries to ease him into a kiss things get a bit out of control...

The story was under 150 pages, which was perfect for the story line. Feather makes a living helping others with their relationships, while she is unable to take her own advise. She has feelings for her client and unsure if he feels things for her. I enjoyed the lack of drama and suspense. The HEA was refreshing after reading a book that had me pulling my hair out. It was a sugary read that put a smile on my face and although the smut was low - you really got into it because you could really feel their tension.

I loved thoughts that fluttered through her mind, recalling the kiss that lead to her rubbing him through his jeans. This mortifying, unprofessional moment carried over through multiple pages and had me giggling.
=======
‘Feeling horrified about the dick-grabbing incident. (As with most embarrassing things, the crotch-burglary attempt had been growing and growing in my mind.)’

‘…wiener-clutching incident…’

‘..grabbing for rod-shaped things like I was the Baton Bandit…’

‘…you’re the cock-a-doodle-grabba-grabba…’

“…and grabbing at their Sausage McMuffins and…’

‘The menu was in English, but in my agitated state, the words swam as black dots on a sea of oh-shit-I-totally-grabbed-his-dick-when-we-were-kissing-and-now-I-will-die-of-shame. I tried to focus on the words, looking for butter chicken, but my brain yelled dick, dick, dick!’

‘…kissing on the sidewalk, where I won’t be trying to make hotdogs using my hands for buns.’

Fether Hilborn & Devin Nelson

Consejos de Feather Hilborn

Como hacer que un Chico de Bese

1. Algo importante que hacer.
2. Algo que amar. (Amigos, familia o mascotas, todo cuenta.)
3. Algo que los haga seguir avanzado.
Es así de simple.

Feather is a 22 yo dating and style coach who is hired by Devin because he has a particular issue: he's 22 and never been kissed because he gets freaked out by kissing.

Feather's attracted to him, but he's a client. So the story is basically about Feather trying to help him, and her struggle to keep this to a professional relationship when she's really attracted to him. She does get involved with him after he's no longer a client and then we find out why he's freaked out about kissing and it's sad, but not insurmountable.

I liked their quirky banter and the basic premise of the book. Mimi Strong has a definite style to her erotic romances and that comes through here, but it could have been a stronger book. While there are some weighty subjects (alcoholism, rape, emotionally detached parents), the writing style make it all feel lighter. There are some erotic scenes which I wasn't finding all that hot because I kept dwelling on the rape/miscarriage in Feather's background that I thought would eventually go somewhere in the story, but it didn't. It was like waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The ending was strange, and a bit abrupt. (Like this review! Ha!)

2.5 stars

I have mixed feelings for The Kissing Coach. A few parts where actually pretty good, some were okay, but the rest for the most part left me feeling...disconnected.

I think overall this wasn't the type of story I enjoy reading. I never really warmed up to the main character Feather. She irritated me at times. I could not relate to her. Her past was the only aspect I thought was interesting about her. I found the love interest Devin to be a bit more likable, but like with Feather, he ended up frustrating me too.

While this story didn't impact me, it at least kept my interest enough that I was able to finish it. If you're curious about it, I would say go for it. It's a quick read.

3.5 stars! Oh my Lawd I don't know what it was about this book because it was really short and didn't have a lot of depth so I must be really shallow but it was such a cute read! It was to the point and I loved the banter between the H/h. The situation isn't really all that believable either but it was just super sweet and the short story that was provided was very entertaining.

Manis sekali.
Enak buat bacaan ringan.

This book is a bit different then the other books by Author Mimi Strong
and just as Fantastic. Feather & Devin have underlining issues that come out. I was so rooting for them to become a couple but wasn't sure if it was in the stars issues kept arising.
It's a wonderful love story with an unconventional beginning (not all love stories have happy endings so you will need to read it to find out :) ).

Quotes:

"I kissed a girl once. Too soft. Like kissing an uncooked loaf of bread."

' "Caleb, have you ever been afraid of kissing someone? "Of course. If you're not afraid of kissing someone, they'er not worth kissing." '

' "Science is mean." I put my arm around her. "So's Kat. You're a cutie, and I adore you, but this sweatshirt screams cat-lady. You're going to pussy-block us at the club if you wear it." '

No me decidía si darle 2 estrellas o 3.

This was a nice enjoyable short read! To me, it was an unconventional plot about a young style and kissing coach and her young attractive client. I didn't think that some of the sessions that she had with Devin were possible but it kept me interested! I wanted to keep reading cause I just needed to know if there would end up together at the end. I just wished there was just a little more background to the lead characters of Feather and Devin. But for a short story, it did keep me interested and wanting to keep reading! I was glad with the ending and hoping that it would end that way! The love scenes were very hot and intense and was hoping that it would happened between the two. Overall, a quick and enjoyable read! Great story Mimi!

Feather and Devin have to be the cutest, sweetest couple EVER!! I feel in love with their story as from Feather's profession to the "goal" Devin was working towards had me hooked. Everything in between was added bonus. Mimi took me on a fabulous journey with their story and I didn't want it to end. I wanted to keep diving into their future and see where it led them. Maybe we'll get more of them in the future...(hint, hint)! Their issues were realistic (especially given the situations from their past) and I was hoping for their ability to overcome these fears (Devin) and mending of relationships (Feather). Plain and simple, I just couldn't get enough of them. There's no cliffhanger, just left wanting more! Give this a try and find your next crush!

I finished this book fairly quickly as it wasn't very long, however, I loved it.
Feather and Devin were both amazing characters and so well suited for each other. I loved their chemistry right from the start. There was also humour which made me laugh at them!

Devin is a 22 year old man who is afraid of kissing so hires Feather as his coach to teach him. Their relationship develops over their sessions. Their first couple of attempts at kissing sends Devin running out the door but once they get past that barrier, their chemistry is sizzling. There are a few steamy scenes that are so well written and realistic.

This book is definitely worth five stars.

Me gusto muuuucho. Adoré a la protagonista, Feather, si
Feather, no Heather.

The Kissing Coach told the story of Feather Hilborn and David Nelson, how they met and developed a relationship, despite the fact that she started out as his life coach as his kissing coach. Feather was insightful, resourceful and found she could not resist David until he had a major meltdown. The story is told from Feather's point of view and the best part is the happy ending, as these two work out their differences. The story line was unique and made a cute story with lots of real feelings that the reader could relate to because it was a well-developed story.

Nice but...

it was cute and mildly steamy. Devin and Feather had a nice connection. I felt there could have been more details. I was surprised Feather never told Devin what she confessed to her mom. I was also surprised that they never talked about and worked out why he got upset when she came by after having.a few drinks. the resolution was swept under the rug. Those things would have made the story more complete.

I've never heard of Mimi Strong before this novel came out. I haven't looked to see if she has any other novels either. I am just sticking to this novel right now, what more can I say other than I thought it was great. I love the chemistry in the novel, every emotional aspect of the characters seemed real. Even down to the embarrassment or sex. This author truly has talent.

2.5 would be more accurate. I'm not sure if I liked it or not. It did make me laugh. Yet I couldn't engage with Feathers character. The ending was weird, but I guess after reading where can you go from there? It was a little boring, yet I kept reading to see where the author would take the story. It was random.

I enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. Feather has her own demons to overcome while dealing with the frivolities of other people's lives. When i comes to someone else with a semi-serious issue she's unsure as to whether she's really qualified - don't we all doubt ourselves? Another book from Mimi of confidence issues, self-discovery and don't forget laughter!
