Wow, this series just keeps getting better and better! Sid and Dalton's book was a wild and crazy ride that I'm so here for! I was captivated right from the start and Harley Chase's performance was fantastic! I listened to this in one sitting it was so good! I'm really looking forward to Easton’s book. I highly recommend this book and series, but check CW due to heavy themes.

This is the 3rd book in The District series. Since this series is kinda dark (especially 2nd book, which I loved!), His Reluctant Savior brings a bit different vibes. And it's totally cool!
Sid and Dalton's story is full of action and yes, a bit of murder (who doesn't love that?), but the most important aspect of it is having second chance and making choices not just for you, but for your loved ones as well. It was less on a stabby and more on the feelings side - me too, Dalton, was surprised that Sid could be such sincere and emotional man.
And yet, he always was himself. I like that all the assassins in The District don't get personalities' transplant once they fall in love. They are morally grey (minus Sully, who is morally black) and we accept and don't judge them. Right? Right.
His Reluctant Savior is a great addition to the series. Although it can be read as a standalone, but it's nice to meet other characters from previous books and to know their stories.
Can't wait for another one!

This was my first book in the The District series. It's a standalone so I was able to easily able to feel welcome in this world. Sid Virgil has been living life as a hitman. What he wasn't expecting was his long lost love Dalton Reed to end up on his hitlist. They end up on the run together. Their chemistry is off the charts!

Back to the District we go! I love these murdering fiends something fierce.
Sid gets a new name to cross off the list, another contract that came in for them to take out. But the name is one he knows, and one he does not want to eliminate. Saving Dalton Reed might cost him his life, his family and everything he has built but that doesn’t stop him from trying anyway.
Dalton uncovered something he shouldn’t have; he shouldn’t have investigated but that’s not in his nature. Now his life and that of his son is in danger. He decides to run, to clear everything up and get on top of this mess. But only just on the road he finds a killer blocking his way. He hasn’t seen Sid in years, so blame him for being a bit skeptical when Sid says he’s there to save them.
Now the books in The District series can run a little dark but His Reluctant Savior is surprisingly light. There’s banter and an easy way between them, which made it an easy and flowing read. I loved seeing the family again even if it turned a little ugly with their feeling of betrayal by Sid. Dalton and Sid together make some amazing spice, the entire story is so solid, balancing out the book in way that I always appreciate greatly. You get it all: the story and the spice.

It’s always a pleasure to read Courtney W. Dixon’s work, and The District series is particularly unique in that each book truly stands alone from the others and has a different vibe. The second book in the series was on the darker side, and although His Reluctant Savior deals with dark subject matter, it was definitely lighter than His Bane. I think a lot of that can be attributed to the characters. Dalton is a single dad and an FBI analyst that’s stepped into a messy situation that’s put him on the hit list of many dangerous organizations. Sid has lurked in the underworld for so long he’s convinced the light can’t touch him, and although he’s built a haven for assassins that are a part of the 2SLGBTIQA+ community, he puts it all on the line when Dalton’s name comes across his desk.
The main issue I had with the book was I struggled to get into it for the first 40 percent. I found the pacing a little erratic in a way that didn’t quite line up with how the characters were being described. However, I did like learning about Dalton and Sid’s backstory and how one small encounter over two decades prior changed the course of their lives, in particular, Sid’s. There’s a political suspense element to this plot, and it’s clear Courtney did her research and factored in current political climate into the book, which I thought was very well-written. I think it was more the pieces didn’t feel like they started working fluently together until just before that halfway mark.
That being said, I loved the back 60 percent of the story! By the end of the book, I didn’t want to put it down. I loved how things picked up as Sid and Dalton went on the run and had to navigate different obstacles. His Reluctant Savior slightly overlaps with the timeline of His Bane, so although you don’t need to read all of the books to enjoy His Reluctant Savior, it’s still nice to see what was happening with Sid while Malik was dealing with Sully. My favourite book in this series is still His Death Bringer, and I’m always greedy for glimpses of Dante and Luca and my patience was rewarded towards the end of the book. I also enjoyed getting to know Easton, Sid’s mentee, better and I really look forward to His Coveted Obsession - An Assassin Dark Romance, which will be available in the spring. I appreciate the research and work Courtney has done to ensure Easton’s sociopathy reads properly. This book had a very satisfying conclusion (and I would love to learn more about Veil at some point, he was a fun secondary character). The relationship building between Dalton and Sid felt good after their initial chemistry, and I liked the flashbacks of them we got as the story began. The author always does a great job with flashbacks, and I think they play an important role in her storytelling. And of course, Courtney nailed it with the spice in this book and I appreciated Sid exerting his boundaries and the emphasis on safety. That’s always very much appreciated.

My Opinions on:
Second chance for assassin, Sid, and FBI analyst, Dalton. There is action, drama, trauma, and pain, but an abundance of love, heat, support, and protectiveness all around. Spending most of the book on the run, Sid & Dalton have to navigate not seeing each other in 27 YEARS and then suddenly being together 24/7, not that Sid’s complaining. It’s quite the journey but it brought me so much joy. Not as dark as the other two but I honestly liked that. It was just as entertaining if not more. Action packed replaced the dark and I think Courtney did an amazing job. I LOVE when the characters are older. It’s nice having characters with history and pain and.. well.. character! Easton was written well and I am looking forward to his book in June.
Favorite Part: OMG at the end when Owen but after that when he went up to Easton and I just love Easton so much and Owen is down right ADORABLE.
Favorite Side Character(s): If it’s not Easton, did you even read the book? Hands down my favorite. Literally everything about him. Nothing I do not like. In real life? Yeah, I’d run far and fast. In a fantasy romance novel? Top tier.
Hardest/Most Difficult Part: Reading through Sid’s flashback with his uncle. I knew what was going to happen and it was still so hard to see it on paper.
Thoughts On World Building: I truly hope Easton’s book isn’t the end. I would love a Mav or Khai book… maybe a Mav & Khai book… Just throwing it out there.

One thing’s for sure, Courtney W. Dixon never disappoints, and His Reluctant Savior is yet another proof of that. I absolutely loved this book! It was such a refreshing and different read from what I’ve been into lately, and honestly, I couldn’t have picked a better one.
This was my first book in The District series, but it can totally be read as a standalone. Courtney does an amazing job explaining everything, so I never felt lost. That being said… now I just want to run and read the first two books because I NEED to know more about Luca & Dante and Malik & Sully!
As for the main characters, Sid and Dalton completely stole my heart. They couldn’t be more different, yet they’re exactly what the other needs, anchors to one another. Their story starts off pretty tumultuous in their teenage years, and fate brings them back together in the most unconventional way, but at the exact right time.
One of the book’s strongest points is the political context and the thought-provoking themes it explores. It’s not just a love story, it makes you reflect on the world we live in and the importance of fighting for a fairer future. And when you mix that with MM romance, high-stakes action, thrilling chases, and some hot spicy moments… well, that’s an instant win.
On top of that, the found family aspect is absolutely beautiful, the characters are incredibly well-written, and the HEA is the kind that leaves your heart full and warm.
Bottom line, reading Courtney W. Dixon is always the right choice, and it always leaves you wanting more. Speaking of which… I can’t wait to read Easton’s story because that guy? He’s already stolen my heart. I need his book ASAP!

Thank you, Courtney, for my audiobook copy of His Reluctant Savior, narrated by Harley Chase. This is the 3rd book in The District: League of Assassins series. It can be read as a standalone but you will get some big spoilers if you do.
I unapologetically love Courtney's writing and some of my all time favorite MM Romances have been penned by her. But I won't lie The District series didn't have any top spots until His Reluctant Savior.

This book isn't as dark as the first two books but it's still dark. I mean the MCs are on the run and assassins are involved. This book had so many great moments which I won't share as I hate spoilers, so you'll just have to trust me and read it!

I enjoyed the story, actually couldn't put it down. It read like a movie and was fast paced and thrilling. I liked how easy the love came to be, that it was talked out and accepted without coyness and deflection.
That said, having a small child in the mix and bad people actually terrorizing it at some point made it uncomfortable. Making said child so good mannered and easy, sort of over simplified the situation to make it more digestible to the reader. But that's just me, kill or f*ck anyone, but put a child on page and I get nervous.
Sid and 'Boy Scout' were a wonderful pair...and 'weirdo' had me laughing out loud.
Please don't make Easton's book the last.🙏

I received this book early and was able to get a first look at it. I would definitely give it for 4 Star and 3.5 spice is definitely packed of a lot of action and all the feels. I definitely felt plenty tugs on my heart strings while reading.I enjoyed it would definitely recommend

I really enjoyed the balance between all the elements in this book. There’s tension, drama, plenty of action, and romance. The romantic elements weren't overshadowing the dangerous, high stakes situations that brought Dalton and Sid back together. The development of their relationship felt natural considering the circumstances.
The humor & banter is epic. Be prepared for some eye rolling and dad joke style of humor. You probably wouldn’t think there would be joking, sarcastic comments, or laughter at a time like this but it works for Sid and Dalton. And it’s part of Sid’s charm.
This was one of those books that I didn’t want to put down. I needed to know what was going to happen next.

I was really looking forward to read this one but got kinda bored. Although Easton’s presence in some scenes made me want to read more. I had lots of exceptions after reading Mal and Sully’s story since that was a 5⭐️ read I got a bit disappointed with this one😫😔. There was less spice too in this book. Hopefully Easton’s story is worth it

His Reluctant Savior is the third book in The District series, a dark romance saga filled with action, secrets, danger, romance, and a found family that’s a little twisted. But in their defense, their pasts have shaped them into who they are.
The story hooks you from the start with the classic good guy vs. bad guy dynamic, the light side versus the dark side. But what happens when Dalton Reed, an FBI analyst, becomes a thorn in the side of powerful people? Not only is his life at risk, but so is his young son's. He has to act fast and escape; he can't allow these people to get their hands on the incriminating evidence. He’s completely on his own… until someone from his past reappears and offers to help. Not only does this person promise to protect both him and his son, but he also joins his mission to bring down the bad guys. The problem? Sid Rigil isn’t exactly one to talk about being a good guy. Just as Dalton has changed and now works for the “good” side, so has Sid, but unlike Dalton, he no longer believes in the justice the world preaches. He has seen both sides of society.
The second chance romance between these two was the opportunity they had long deserved. Their relationship, while fast-paced, was well-developed since they had known each other for years. They had chemistry, they were funny, they protected each other, and together, they built a sweet family. What I loved most about this book was how Dalton realized that not everything is black and white, not all good guys are truly good, just as not all bad guys are truly bad. There’s a gray area where sometimes the "villain" shows more wisdom or empathy than the "hero," or where the hero doesn’t always make the best choices for the greater good.
P.S. The father-son dynamic between Dalton and Sid with Owen and Easton is one of the best things in this world. I can't wait to see Easton in the next book and find out how Sid and Dalton react to Easton and his someone...

This is my favorite in the series so far. Much lighter than the others but I think I loved it most because the plot was engaging and their love was easy. Dalton and Sid knew each other in high school. Dalton was the golden good boy and Sid the bully. Sid was being abused and raped by his uncle at home and hated dalton for his goodness he could never possess but is obsessed with him all the same. They share a life changing kiss at a party and despite his treatment towards him, Dalton is willing to give Sid a chance and would even date him. This changes Sid’s entire view on life. He believes he can be better and deserve Dalton and wants to be that for him but when he goes home that night, his uncle drugs and rapes him. When he comes to, he decides to fight back and kills him and his crime family takes him afterwards and he never sees Dalton again. Fast forward 20 years and Dalton in in the FBI and has a hit on him that Sid is to carry out. As soon as he gets the file, Sid knows he won’t kill Dalton and instead betrays the family to go rogue and on the run with him. Dalton has a son and Sid vows to do whatever it takes to protect them both. I loved that in their first day when they are alone, Sid tells Dalton “I want to see if those sparks from all those years ago are still there “‘and kisses the shit out of him and when he’s done “oh yeah… sparks are still there” SWOON. After that, Sid will do whatever it takes to prove to Dalton that he belongs with Sid (and his son too). Sid is patient and kind and never even really jealous regarding daltons dead husband. He just wants to be with Dalton and sees all of this as his second chance to have him and he won’t waste it. It’s two guys on the run rediscovering their flame together. There are car chases, combat, and we see some of Easton and his dynamic too. This was just amazing. It ends with Sid coming back to the family to explain himself to Malik and Dalton wanting to work for the district after he can no longer trust the justice system for turning on him for trying to expose corrupt politicians who murdered and raped a minor. I hope in Easton book we see more of them as a family and his dynamic with Daltons son since Sid adopted Easton now too.

Sid Virgil is a morally grey character who shows a softer human side when it comes to his high school crush and saviour- Dalton Reed…and of course possessive!
Now Dalton a widowed FBI analyst with a five year old son is on a hit list which includes The District among others and this is where Dalton crosses paths again after twenty seven years with his high school bully!
Among high speed car chases, shootouts and deadly encounters with the Bratva they find that spark again that was ignited at a party which changed Sid’s life- this is their heartfelt, soul rendering second chance love story with funny moments regarding Sid and his weird sense of humour!

The family of assassins has a rude awakening when one of their own betrays them but hopefully he can redeem himself!
A beautiful heartfelt epilogue follows where a debt is paid in full and a promise is kept!

Wow is all I can say regarding this amazing authors work! I’m not a big fan of violence and blood in a book but was hooked with these two characters and side characters!

I really enjoyed this! It was fast paced and action packed and I really enjoyed every minute of reading this.
This is the 3rd book in The District series and despite not reading the previous 2 books I could follow along just fine. I really liked Sid and Dalton. It was great to have some flashbacks from their past as well, it helped to understand the relationship between them, and also we saw how Sid got into doing what he's doing. Dalton is on the run because he uncovered some information about powerful people and Sid is sent to deal with him. Instead Sid saves him and they go on the run together. I loved how fast paced and action packed this book was. Despite the darker themes this was still a very fun book to read. After being on the run for a couple of weeks and fending off others that have been sent after Dalton they end up going back to The District and they work together to bring the bad people down in a way.
I really enjoyed Sid and Dalton's dynamic. Sid's protectiveness was great to witness and I loved how strong his feelings were from the get go. I loved how they trusted each other, even if it wasn't that easy for Dalton, given their past. I really appreciated how honest Sid was about his feelings and everything. What Dalton went through just for wanting to bring some bad guys down was horrible, and while this is fiction, I feel like it's not that far off from reality.
It was interesting to get to know The District members a bit, and I'm excited to read the first 2 books in this series. I really enjoyed the writing and it felt very easy to read to me.
Read this if you want an action packed and suspensful read about and FBI agent on the run and the man sent to deal with him, but who ends up saving him.

I'm really glad that Sid and Dalton got their second chance. Sid bullied Dalton in high school and that was explained very early in the book, it really helped me see how much they care about each other, even 27 years later.
Sid explained what he's been through and his triggers. Dalton was aware of Sid's boundaries and was very respectful. Dalton trusted him enough to also explain why people are after him. Dalton had a hard time seeing Sid as a person, in the beginning. He mostly saw him as a k!ller while he's also a person. Sid saw Dalton's name in a file and went after him to protect him and Dalton's son Owen. I really enjoyed the moments between Easton and Sid. Sid really tried to show Easton that he will always have a part in Sid's life. I'm so excited to read more about Easton and his side of their connection, he is very loyal and protective in his own way.
I also loved that Sid gave Dalton a place to talk about his deceased husband, Matt. Matt will always be a part of Dalton. It's very thoughtful that he asked about him and gave Dalton that safe feeling to do that. Sid is just really sweet and loyal to the people he cares about. He did betray his family but he didn't see another way. This story takes place in a different setting then the other books and I liked that change.
The District is a dark romance serie where queer people are hired to take out bad people, they make the world a little bit safer in their own way. Along the way they found their family in each other.

While running for their lives, these two get tangled up in more than just the sheets. So much is uncovered while trying to save Dalton's life. Betrayals, lies, corruption, greed and so much more. It's honestly sickening to think and know things like that exist in this world.
There was so much to these two. They are complete opposites but they balance each other out so well. Sid's dry humor to Dalton's seriousness. These two fit each other like missing puzzle pieces, they just worked.
I love how accepting Sid was of Owen and how he ensured that he was safe and protected at all times. Sid may not know how to be a father but he did everything he could to do right.
I really enjoyed the characters within The District. It was nice to see them all together and the family dynamic of it all. I absolutely loved Easton and I'm so excited we get more on him next.
What a doozy of a ride. This kept me on my toes the whole time and was action packed. I loved every minute of it. Definitely check those trigger warnings. There's some tough situations that are talked about throughout.

His Reluctant Savior is my first book by Courtney W. Dixon and it lived up to all of my expectations. Courtney’s story telling and character development are exceptional. My heart broken into pieces after reading what Sid had been through in past and I felt proud of the man he become in present. Sid might be cruel for outside world but for people he loves, he will always walk an extra mile to make sure they are loved, cared for and protected. Dalton on the other hand is a scorned by, framed for and hunted like an animal by the very same people he works for, for daring to expose people in power. I liked how Courtney has written Dalton’s character who sees world in black and white & right and wrong in the beginning of the book but by the end he realizes that world mostly exist in different shades grey and you have to get your hands dirty if you want to cleanse the world of monsters. Chemistry between Sid and Dalton is explosive. It is sweet how both Sid and Dalton don’t shy away from showing vulnerability, asking for help and sharing their deepest and darkest secrets. They are definitely made for each other and Dalton is yang to Sid’s yin. I also love how funny, sweet and flirty Sid is with Dalton. I loved the book and its main character so much that I binged read this one and would definitely recommend it if you like reading dark MM romance books.

While we were given a small glimpse into Sid's history in the first two entries, this book gives him a chance to really shine. He may be morally gray, but he is also very sympathetic, charismatic, possessive, and full of humor. Dalton is a devoted father, kind, more serious, and always trying to do the right thing. The two men balance each other very well, as each of their personalities and outlooks become influenced by the other. Expect a lot of fun, flirty banter, as well as some explosive chemistry between Dalton and Sid! As with the first two books, you can expect dark subject matter, but this one is more humorous and action-packed.
This book works as a standalone, but as it features characters from previous entries in the series, it's more fun to read them in order. I'm always happy when Luca returns for another appearance, and I enjoyed getting to know Easton better in this book. I can't wait for his story next, and I'm hoping that Maverick, especially, and Khai will get their own in the future!

This book was literally different from the first two . Less darker and funny . It was delicious, full of action, chase and run and humorous. I always has thing for single dad .
I glad I have read this book . I really enjoyed. Courtney never disappoint me
Sid was my favourite. I really like he character. He was tease , make joke even serious situation .
His relationship with Easton show even if he didn't receive parental love but know how to care about other .
His obsession with Delton was crazy . Even after 27 years he still not forget him and 'cough' his love for him .
Delton ,the FBI agent . He was honest , straightforward and someone who believes in justice. That what got him trouble . His own colleague and officials backstabbed him .
God their chemistry , i can even fell the sparks . It was sizzling with fire of passion.
They fit with each other, like they're missing pieces of each other.
The action, car chasing , I love thriller. I really enjoyed this scene. I love fighting scene.😅
Ending was realistic. You can not take down everyone . If you remove one other will surfaced. I was glad girl got his justice.
And of course there was Sully who made last part more funny .
I want to know more about Easton.

This book was literally different from the first two . Less darker and funny . It was delicious, full of action, chase and run and humorous. I always has thing for single dad .
I glad I have read this book . I really enjoyed. Courtney never disappoint me
Sid was my favourite. I really like he character. He was tease , make joke even serious situation .
His relationship with Easton show even if he didn't receive parental love but know how to care about other .
His obsession with Delton was crazy . Even after 27 years he still not forget him and 'cough' his love for him .
Delton ,the FBI agent . He was honest , straightforward and someone who believes in justice. That what got him trouble . His own colleague and officials backstabbed him .
God their chemistry , i can even fell the sparks . It was sizzling with fire of passion.
They fit with each other, like they're missing pieces of each other.
The action, car chasing , I love thriller. I really enjoyed this scene. I love fighting scene.😅
Ending was realistic. You can not take down everyone . If you remove one other will surfaced. I was glad girl got his justice.
And of course there was Sully who made last part more funny .
I want to know more about Easton.

His Reluctant Savior, the third book in the District series, is my first introduction to the characters and author. But based on this story, it won't be my last.
As this was a story that captivated me, and saw paid assassin Sid given the file of his next target. Who just happens to be betrayed FBI analyst Dalton. Someone Sid once knew well and who Sid is determined to protect instead of kill. Even at the risk of betraying his family and those who trust him.
But Sid has good reason for making his choice, not least because he once harboured feelings for Dalton, and he's determined to keep him and his son Owen safe. Regardless of the consequences.
And when he lays eyes on Dalton, all those old feelings come flooding back, and Sid is determined that he is never letting Dalton go.
That is if they can survive long enough to have a happy ending.
And with a great deal of humour and banter. Not to mention the perfect balance of tension, drama, action, and spice. This was a story I found hard to put down, and I particularly loved the development of the romance between Sid and Dalton. Which felt completely natural considering the predicament they found themselves in.
I would happily recommend His Reluctant Savior to all, and I will definitely be picking up the first two books in the series after reading this ☺️

I have really enjoyed this series this far. All of the characters have been unique, and the partners brought into the fold have each had their own challenges to overcome. Sid is no different. He’s one of the founding members of The District, and they have become his family.
When one of their contracts is someone from his past, he decides he has to get ahead of the other killers and make things right with Dalton. When that happens, he learns why Dalton is being hunted and is more determined than ever to save him amd his young son.
This one took a while for me to get into. But once we start to really get into the details of Sid’s past and the reasons for his behavior with Dalton, as well as the full extent of what Dalton is up against, it gets a bit more interesting.
I also admit that I had trouble understanding why Sid didn’t come clean with Mal and the others sooner. However, I liked seeing Easton coming into the picture and was really happy with how things played out with Mal and the rest of the gang. It was nice to see them all again, even psycho Sully and sweet Luca.
Looks like Easton is up next, and knowing a bit about his issues, I’m really looking forward to seeing how his story plays out.

Was it as good as the first two books in the series? Not quite.
Don't get me wrong—Sid and Dalton were a joy. Very sweet and almost… dare I say, innocent together? That’s a stark contrast to the first two books, which were much darker. Not to say this book doesn’t have its moments. Sid is cut from the same broken and jagged cloth as the previous MCs—but he's softer in many ways too, and the book does a great job of highlighting that Dalton is the reason for that.
I also really liked Sid's relationship with Easton; it reminded me of a more "wholesome" Sully and Malik. Speaking of (small spoiler from Book 2), I was kind of peeved that right after Malik was vulnerable with Sid about his relationship with Sully, Sid went and pulled this stint. Like, who needs enemies when you have friends like this? (I'm joking… partially.) I do like how it’s addressed near the end why Sid didn’t just be honest with Malik about the situation but I can’t say I totally believed the reason.
All in all, I don’t have a lot to say about this one—it was enjoyable. A pretty solid addition to the series as a whole and worth the read.

This is a he first book in this series that I’ve read and how I need to go back to read the other books in this series. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it but I wasn’t hooked from the first chapter.
Second chances. Ugh, I love it. Sid and Dalton’s dynamic was everything and I absolutely loved the single father aspect and how Sid knew if he wanted Dalton, his son, Owen were a package deal. I love how Sid explained to Dalton why he was the way he was and what happened to him. Perfect.
I’m really not one for action but man, the action and the murder, in this book tied this book so well! Also, why Sid was the way he was, it made my heart break because he really did get hurt. I loved the happily ever after for these two.
I also loved The District guys. Even Sully. Ha. I love how Sid explained to Malik what he wanted. That relationship between those two is so powerful and I loved every moment of it.
Can I say I love Easton so much and I cannot wait for his book?! The ending of what Sid did for Easton was everything and it just made their relationship so much more perfect.

Oh my gosh how it even possible for this absolutely amazing series to possibly get any better than it already is !!!! Well Courtney just proved that it absolutely can !!!’ Have you read The District Series? If not then what the heck are you waiting for ? Run as fast as you can and download the first book ASAP . And if your familiar with the series then you know how awesome it is and that your about to be taken on another crazy and emotional ride . Dalton and Sid omg how I loved loved loved these two . Both so likable and relatable, both so complex and captivating. I really was not prepared for how these two and all that they went through was going to touch my heart 💜 Good guy vs bad guy , light vs dark , secrets , trauma , obstacles, love , passion, pain , non stop action , off the charts chemistry, angst , humor , witty banter , phenomenal world building. To say that no sleep was had last night would be a huge understatement. No really, I started about 7 pm last night , got so lost in the book that I almost forgot to make my daughter dinner . So of course I had to take a small break . Then I started up again about 11 pm and let’s just say I was fighting to keep my eyes open until I finished. Because under no circumstances was I going to be able to sleep without knowing how Dalton and Sid’s story ended !!!’ Dead on my feel today but oh was it so worth it !!

I enjoyed this story of the two men who had a bad past history and how Sid managed to get around that and get his family to accept them so that they could live life as a family together. There was a lot of drama and action in this story that definitely stopped anyone from being bored of the sizzling chemistry between these two men. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with nature content.

Very much enjoyed this. The author cautions that this one isn't as dark as the previous, but I'm not sure I agree. It isn't dark in the same way--that's true. But with the sort of abuse and corruption rife in the story line...it's pretty dark inherently. Regardless, I loved it. Dalton struck me as entirely too trusting, even with his stated mistrust, but I'm pretty sure that's just his character. Which explains Sid's intense protectiveness.
The plot kept me going--a rarity for these "on the run" stories. I tend to get a little bored with them, but not this one. Despite all the goings on, I feel like this was more emotion-based than anything. Sid having to effectively choose between Dalton and his family was a major piece of the whole thing and very well done.
Real talk now, okay? I am *desperate* for East's book. Like...grabby-hands-gimme-now desperate. And a little sad to hear that his book might be the end of the series.
