Using needle and thread, crafters of all skill levels can create a veritable greenhouse of beaded flowers from the patterns in this book. Beaders and gardeners alike will delight in these projects that use brick, peyote, net, and herringbone stitches, as well as right-angle weave and combination stitches, to create a brilliant bouquet of beaded flowers. Instructions for leaves and stems are included to transform each bloom into a spectacular piece, perfect for dressing up home decors and special occasions. In addition to more than 25 blossom patterns, including water lilies, poppies, orchids, and roses, whimsical insect patterns populate this everlasting garden. A section on beading basics brings beginners up to speed, and a gallery of professionals' creations inspires future projects. The clear instructions and diagrams make these most delicate creations accessible and fun for beaders looking to add new techniques and sparkle to their repertoire.
Diane Fitzgerald is my favorite bead book author. Her patterns are wonderful and easily mutated, adapted, or otherwise wrangled with, great for learning but also full of good finishing tips for when you have more confidence. She has a wonderful imagination and is a great communicator.
I don't buy a lot of new books, except as gifts. I went to hear the author speak and got a signed copy from her. I have not made many of the projects in the book - just a few leaves and little flowers, but I browse through it from time to time to look at the beautiful pictures and get ideas.
