Apocalyptic scenario - I would still give anything to be part of this world and meet Xavia and Styx.
So many emotions from so many different perspectives, it broke my heart at times and is not an easy read - please take care.

I don't know how I'm going to endure the wait for the next book - because the main cliffhanger (there is actually more than one!!!) is almost as world shattering as in the first book.
Spoiler: It will hurt.

I love how the story developed and could read another 700 pages without getting bored.

Thank you for trusting me with an eARC, Anissa. I love the world you created so much 🖤

Wrath’s daughter is a DARK Urban Fantasy and there are many challenging topics and dark themes I would always recommend checking TWs which are.e.Cosby sets out well as noted in this review*

Wrath’s Daughter, the second installment in the Chaos Series by A.E. Cosby, is a dark urban fantasy that continues to captivate and enthrall readers. As someone who eagerly anticipated this sequel, I am thrilled to say that it exceeded all expectations and then some.

One of the standout features of this book is the "Previously on the Chaos Wielder" section. This recap is a brilliant addition, ensuring readers are up to speed and ready to dive back into the chaos. Another highlight is the curated music playlist, which adds an extra layer of immersion, making the reading experience even more vivid and engaging.

Inclusivity is a cornerstone of Cosby’s writing, and Wrath’s Daughter shines in this aspect. The incorporation of deaf grammar demonstrates a deep understanding and respect for the community, enriching the narrative and making it more authentic. The pronunciation guide, character descriptions, and location details are incredibly helpful, allowing readers to fully grasp the world and its intricacies.

Styx, one of the FMCs, continues to be an absolute badass, yet her innocence in certain situations adds a beautiful, nuanced layer to her character. The scene where Styx is unsure how to relieve herself had me in stitches, especially with a certain male character’s torment about helping her. The blend of humor and tension is masterful.

A.E. Cosby's portrayal of Aria's grief in Wrath’s Daughter is beautifully and poignantly done. The depiction had me sobbing, capturing the profound pain of losing a loved one and how it can cause one to lose their sense of self and retreat inward. Cosby masterfully shows the ugliness of grief, highlighting how it can consume a person to the point of forgetting those around them. This raw and honest portrayal of grief is a testament to Cosby's skillful writing and deep understanding of human emotion.

The action sequences are intense and memorable, but the spice scene oh they’re something else entirely! They’ll rock your world, the gun scene – it had me on the edge of my seat, it is WILD and I loved it. Listening to "Flatline" during a particularly steamy scene was an unforgettable experience. Tristan, with his irresistible charm and humor, and the other Men, with their tantalizing allure, make it impossible to choose a favorite among the male characters.

Cosby's attention to detail is impeccable, from the stunning graphics to the poignant line, "Because I see you, Styx." The book is a sensory & emotional delight. The MM and DP scenes are exceptionally well-written, earning a solid 5 chili 🌶️ rating for spice. The exploration of various kinks, including praise, degradation, and sub/dom dynamics, is handled with finesse. The LGBTQIA+ representation is both respectful and empowering.

Arias' parentage adds a layer of mystery, dropping significant hints while leaving readers with more questions, eagerly awaiting the next book. The emotional depth of Wrath’s Daughter is profound, touching on themes like suicide, sexual assault, and grief. The respectful and sensitive handling of these topics shows Cosby’s dedication to her readers’ well-being. The chapter trigger warnings are a thoughtful touch, at the beginning of the book it tells you each chapter which triggers will occur and then reminds you at the beginning of said chapter, allowing readers to navigate the story with awareness.

In conclusion, Wrath’s Daughter is a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with intense action, deep character development, and a level of inclusiveness that is both refreshing, necessary & honestly pretty revolutionary. It’s a book that keeps you on your toes, making you never want it to end. I am eagerly anticipating book three to see how Styx and Aria navigate their futures amidst the chaos.

Thank you, A.E. Cosby, for the ARC and for continuing to set the bar high. Your brilliance and dedication to your craft and audience are truly inspiring. I am forever a stan girl for your work.

If you’re a fan of fast-paced, action-packed adventure, trauma healing, and ghost pepper spice, this is the book for you.

With “Wrath’s Daughter,” Cosby makes a triumphant return to the world of Euhaven, and a continuation of the story started in “The Chaos Wielder.”

In this sequel, we really get to know Styx. She’s taking the lead and getting to know herself in the process, and making unexpected connections along the way. We meet Tristan, who is a trip and a half, and get to know Jacinto’s dark part (oh Jacinto, my beloved). Still reeling from the events of book one, Quade’s chapters are some of my favorites.

This book is significantly darker than the first, and for good reason. Check those TW’s!

A.E. Cosby did it again!
The Chaos Wielder series is utterly brilliant in its worldbuilding, overall plot, and character development, served with a side of steamy goodness. Multiple pov (5+, if I counted correctly) can get confusing, but not in this series. The flow between the chapters is good, and every character pov feels different and matches the personality of the character we're following in that chapter.
And the feelings! The emotions! I cried, laughed, screamed, and gasped.
Styx, Xavia, Jacinto, Aurelio, Tristan, and Quade go through it. They're all flawed. They're traumatised, and they're still trying and fighting for the world and each other. They still call each other out and hold each other accountable. I love all these characters.

On the spice side of things, it's definitely muy caliente* 🌶🌶🌶🌶 but also very sweet and emotional - more so than in the first book. A development that I liked because it showed the growth of Xavia and Styx as they become more comfortable with their emotions and their partners.

I appreciated that the author has listed the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book and has additional reminders at the beginning of chapters with on page depictions of past SA and mass m*rder.

This book has me feeling hype! Again, I can't recommend this series enough.

I received an ARC from the author. My opinions are my own.

Chaotic, Non-Spoiler Review, Book Two

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The plot continued to plot! The twists were twisting! The spice was spicy!

While The Chaos Wielder was more plot-driven, Wrath’s Daughter (Book Two in the Chaos series) was more character-driven, which honestly could not have been more perfect considering this series is a very deliberate mental health narrative.

The most impactful takeaway in book two is how differently people handle their grief even when they share similar losses with others. The trauma of loss is never felt, processed, or handled the same across people.

I consider myself to be an intentionally self-reflective (focus on my past self), self-aware (focus on my present self), and self-regulated (focus on my future self) person. Nevertheless, because of my own trauma and because of who I had to be during my trauma, sometimes it’s still hard for me to accept how others handle or heal from their trauma, even when I empathize with them.

I’ll never shy away from being reminded that the beauty of humanity is in our differences. It’s not about healing the same. It’s about healing period. The author serves this reminder on a silver platter, and while she p!ssed me off a few times, I couldn’t be more grateful that she evoked so many emotions in me. I healed more. I grew more. I understood more.

Thank you, again, Anissa. 🩶 @aecosbyauthor

If you haven’t read my review for book one, please do! But more importantly, put the book in your hand and on your shelf. You will not be disappointed.

This book was one hell of a roller coaster ride and but was it HOT. I’m talking streaming hot. So much action in this book. The story continues from the first book and so much goes on that it’s chaos in itself. A lot is also revealed in this book too. The relationships grow and expand and secrets come out. We get to see the backstories of the characters and the author does it in a unique way, which I liked.

There are several points of views in this book too so you have to keep in mind of whose point of view you’re reading as you read each chapter. This is where it can get a little confusing if you’re not paying attention.

It does end in a cliffy and I’m sad that I’ll have to wait until the next one! I want to know what happens!!!

What an incredible followup to the Chaos Wielder! Incredible action, 🔥🔥🔥HOT spice, and drool worthy characters make this book stand out as one of my top reads this year. The plot was PLOTTING and I held my breath several times in anticipation of what was to come. Tristan will have my heart forever. The dynamic between Styx and Xavia was compelling and emotionally wrecking. Urban fantasy at its finest 💯

Euhaven braces for a storm! Aeshma, the Angel of Wrath, has returned, threatening to reshape the city according to her twisted vision. Only the Chaos Wielder's team stands in her way. This epic dark urban fantasy throws the heroes into a desperate fight, forcing them to split up and seek new allies to decipher the remaining pieces of a crucial prophecy.

The author masterfully builds the world and breathes life into a diverse cast of characters. A unique touch is the inclusion of music that perfectly complements specific scenes and characters, adding depth and emotional resonance.

While the story can be dark, the author provides clear trigger warnings, allowing readers to make informed choices. It's refreshing to see characters grapple with the aftermath of trauma, showcasing strength and resilience.

But the battle isn't just external! As the world spirals into chaos, the team faces a personal struggle. When stakes are this dire, desire, sex, and romance become powerful distractions. Can they maintain their focus and overcome temptation while facing a foe unlike any other?

This series is definitely one of my favorites! It's a captivating blend of world-building, character development, and a touch of musical magic, all wrapped in a thrilling fight against an apocalyptic threat.

This series has quickly jumped up to being one of my favorites. The author does an amazing job of moving you through the world and variety of characters. I love the way they include music to accompany scenes and characters and it really adds to the depth of the story. One scene was very sexy and sweet with a perfect song to go with it, I was so touched I cried. It is very dark and definitely important to be wary of the trigger warnings and I appreciate how much the author gives warning for those hard scenes. It's also so nice to see characters who have gone through terribly traumatic events, deal with the PTSD and still be strong. I love it!

AND WE'RE BACK LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!!!! 🤣😁 I hope you're ready for more Wielding, action, mystery, and of course, ROMANCE with this second installment of the Chaos Series! The twists and turns, the revelations, the spice, the world-building/story-telling...Ahh! Cosby continues to knock my socks off with book 2! We get new characters, expansion of existing characters from book 1 and so many new revelations and tie-ins with things from book 1 and the prequel novella, Death & Shadow (if you haven't read it, YOU SHOULD!). We even get a bit more gore & horror bits in this one! I experienced the full range of emotions with Wrath's Daughter, both in the Beta and ARC stages, HAHA! I laughed, I cried, got angry, hyped up certain characters, loved the sh*t out of some characters, and absolutely despised others. All-in-all, I couldn't put this down and loved every second of this wild ride. But of course, Cosby just had to leave us with some craziness at the end, so I am LOCKED AND LOADED for book 3!

As a side note, it's not required but highly encouraged to read the companion prequel novella, Death & Shadow, either before or after The Chaos Wielder, in order to get a fuller picture of what is going down on Euhaven! It's quick, fantastic, and oh so yummy! 😁

**So before I go any further, just a couple of notes for the remainder of this review:

~ There may be spoilers from The Chaos Wielder further down in this review. I have spoiler blocked the major one, but please only proceed if you have indeed read book 1 and are fully aware of all the revelations from The Chaos Wielder. Otherwise, you might be mad at me and I don't want that! So now is your chance to scroll away and come back when you're done! 🙂

~ You can find my review of book 1, The Chaos Wielder, here.

~ You can find my review of the prequel novella, Death & Shadow, here.

I'm not going to go into too much detail about the content of book 2, because I really want people to go in fairly blind and read the next installment without really knowing what's going to happen. But I will say, we DO get more Jacinto (and I swear to the goddess, my heart was aching for this man), more Styx (poor woman is getting a crash course in being top-side y'all), and HELLO TRISTAN ARIES (proceeds to pass away from "perfect partner syndrome"). Y'all are not ready for this lover man, but he's gonna let you know what's up in a big way. I can't wait for y'all to experience him.

As we know from the very end of TCW, , and booooyyyyy are some of y'all gonna be upset (like I was) at how things start off with him. Just know, IT'S GOING TO BE OK. IN COSBY YOU MUST TRUST, OK?! Things for our favorite throuple are gonna seem real f'ked up for a little bit, but you must trust the process and the story that things are happening the way they need to.

I will mention briefly, a big theme in this book is the trauma of loss and grief and how it effects different people and how it's handled differently by each person. I give a lot of praise to Cosby for their portrayal of this topic here, they did an excellent job.

Cosby also does a fantastic job of incorporating Tristan's hard-of-hearing disability into this story and it truly makes his character unique and incredibly fascinating. Sign language and other aspects of the deaf community were woven seamlessly into the pages of this book and I found myself learning so much at the same time as I was falling head over heals in love with Tristan.

As with book 1, major players and pieces of the puzzle are being moved and manipulated, but once certain revelations are made and things start clicking into place, you are NOT going to be able to put this down.

Of course I cannot go without mentioning the spice in this one. Y'all it is just GIVING, ok?! Tristan is just a whole meal-and-a-half, not to mention Styx is a fast learner *wink wink*. The spice involving Aurelio, Quade, and Xavia is yet again, fantastic, five-star, five-alarm fire good. I had such a fun time with this one y'all. Delicious.

Recommendation:
There should be no question about whether or not I'm recommending this book, but in case you hadn't already figured it out, ABSOLUTELY still recommending this book/series with my whole being. The story itself is un-putdownable, but add to it the continuation of the awesome representation it continues to provide us with is just some serious icing and cherries on top! Enjoy and happy reading friends! 🤙🏼💕

Thank you so much to the author for a early copy of this book. As always, this review is my honest feedback and given voluntarily.

Let’s talk about “Wrath’s Daughter.” Book Two of the Chaos Series by AE Cosby. First thing’s first, I loved Book One, “The Chaos Wielder.” Easy five star read that combines the grittiness of “Blade,” with unique worldbuilding and elemental magic. Coming into book two, I knew to expect dark romance, serious topics, and complicated characters. Book one was almost too dark for me (I’m not a dark fantasy girlie for the most part) and book two teetered the line of being wayyy too dark for me personally. However, I loved the characters and I was willing to push through because the story is so fascinating to me.

Not to mention, I love a responsible author. AE Cosby carefully outlines the content in the beginning and even goes the extra mile to put a warning before especially upsetting chapters. That empowered me, as the reader, to skim chapters and be prepared for what I was about to read. If I went in blind, it would have upset me to the point of putting the book down and not returning. Thank you for considering the mental state of your readers and fostering that trust. I trust that you will not out shock value before the wellbeing of your readers. ❤️

Now let’s get into the good stuff.

“Wrath’s Daughter,” is a spicy dark fantasy that follows Styx and Xavia, two sides of one coin. This story follows Styx mainly, who was a supporting character is Book One. This story allows her to grow and develop before our eyes and find love (she deserves it tbh)

This story shines a light on the supporting characters (which I loved! Jacinto was my favorite.) I NEED him to find love. (That cliffhanger, how dare you!)

This sequel checked all the boxes that I expected after “The Chaos Wielder,” with some extra twists I didn’t expect. While I loved Xavia, Aurelio, and Quade, there was something special about Tristan and Styx.

So if you like action-packed dark fantasy with steamy why-choose spice, I recommend picking up “The Chaos Wielder.”

Sequels are hard because it’s difficult to know if it’ll hold up to the first, but I can confidently say that it does.

However, check the content warning. It is DARK and there were moments that I would have been deeply upset if I didn’t know what I was getting into.

So “Wrath’s Daughter,” is more of a 4.5 stars because I loved “The Chaos Wielder,” more, but this is a fantastic follow up and I’m excited to see where the story goes!

More like 3.5 stars. I think going into it I had such big expectations on seeing Xavia and her men again that I was heavily reluctant to give Styx a chance. And this book was mainly about Styx and her journey of learning who she is. I think it took me about 45-50% to start warming up to her but even then, I didn’t start like her as a character until I got to see Xavia again. Same for Tristan, he really got on my nerves until I started to understand him and see that he was gonna be a main character in this series. I think this author was very clever in creating such a complex character like Xavia/Styx that I had to just enjoy the book without knowing what was gonna happen next because I have never read a book about a character like this before. Their whole situation just seems so messy but I really can’t wait to see what happens next. I’m gonna sit on my rating and see if I want to change it to a 4 but for now, after finishing it, that’s my rating but it doesn’t mean it’s a bad book. I just know now that the book comes with multiple perspectives and complex relationships. And nothing will be what I’m used to which is not a bad thing. Also, I felt at times the author got a little lost in the descriptions and constantly reminding the reader that “we don’t have to figure it out right now” or “I don’t know how to feel”. It sometimes took me out of the book. I think it only needs to be said once and then move on or just now bring it up. I felt like it was a little unnecessary and just felt a little like a filler to add into the story instead of just getting back into the action. I really enjoyed reading Aurelio’s pov after everything that happened to him. In my opinion, his was the most entertaining and action packed part outside of the ending. But I’m biased because he was one of the main characters in the first book. I think with the next book in the series, I know what to expect and I have come to enjoy almost everyone in the book now, and I can’t wait to see how the relationships progress and what will happen between in the war. Fun read, looking forward to the next one.

Anissa Cosby comes through once again with a brilliant sci-fi urban fantasy. I was left bereft and enraged at the end of 'The Chaos Wielder' and could not wait for 'Wrath's Daughter' only to discover that I would once again be yelling at the pages of my book. Yes, yelling. Cosby had me all up in my feelings AGAIN.

The way Cosby can draw me into the story from the beginning and introduce new characters to mix in with the old is top tier. And yes, I will talk about the characters because this book is all ABOUT the characters and that is what makes it so GOOD. I love a good character arc and, yes, there is plot of COURSE, but it's the CHARACTERS that make or break a book for me. Wrath's Daughter slows down the path forward while drawing out that cord of tension - it gets tighter and tighter throughout the book - all the while you are engaging in amazing character growth and development.

The relationships in this book - both platonic and otherwise- are created with such intention and care. It's in every interaction. The polyamorous relationship is so well created and depicted and the growth between Tristan and Styx is *chef's kiss*

I'll take one Tristan please, but I'll be returning Jacinto. Thank you.

Also, I will never forgive Anissa for my sweet baby Aurelio. Ever.

The action scenes were once again TOP NOTCH and the jump scare at the end will give me nightmares for a while.

Go and read it NOW! What ARE you waiting for???

Wrath's Daughter by A.E. Cosby is just as action-packed and fast-paced as its incredible predecessor, The Chaos Weilder. I started this book cautiously anticipating finding out what happened beyond the end of book one and was excited to find a deaf character! (I'm partially deaf.) The multiple aspects of mental health, body positivity, and differently-abled rep that Cosby features in a mostly bipoc, queernormative world has me wanting to scream from the rooftops. Everyone should be reading this series!

A vast universe with a fascinating magic system, paranormal elements, complex characters with intricate back stories, emotional growth, heavy topics, and some of the BEST spice, Author Cosby has created a mind-blowing dark urban science-rich fantasy series that's easy to fall into headfirst.

I loved this book so intensely for the connections between the characters, how they work together to overcome a wide range of challenges, and really how stunning the universe is, despite the tragedy taking place. There's no shortage of emotional moments and plot twists, and I can't wait to read what A. E. Cosby writes next!

Amazing

This is DARK. This is not a light read. This tore me into a million pieces. This ripped my heart out of my chest and left my soul in chaos. Yet I needed this. I needed to see my story written down. I needed to see a badass chick bring closure.

On a lighter note, the banter and highlight on the importance of linguists is my absolute favorite thing. Poor Jacinto should just get his childcare license given all the shenanigans he has to deal with.

Speaking of Jacinto, my bby. I knew he was just old and misunderstood, if maybe a little evil and jaded.

X and Styx, My babies. I want to burn the world for them. I want to wrap them up and give them lots of sharp, stabby objects and targets.

Seeing so many representations of grief was heart-wrenching, but they were done so tastefully.

I found so many loves, I really thought Q and Aurelio and Jacinto were all I needed, and now Tristan rolled in with his smart mouth and tender heart and sweept me off my feetsies.

There are so many, so many things I liked about this, but again, the best thing I can say is, I wish I could read this for the first time, over and over again.

*This book was an ARC. This is my honest voluntary review*

What in Euhaven was that ending? A.E. just wants to ruin our emotions apparently. Honestly the whole book was emotional destruction.

Ok, it's been 24hrs since I finished this book and I think I've processed my emotions enough to write this review finally. When A.E. tells you this book deals heavily with Grief and loss they weren't wrong. They do an amazing job showing so many of the different ways of grieving people go thru and made this book not just a fantastic story but some great emotional representation.
If you love books with pop culture references scattered in like sprinkles in Birthday cake, you'll love this book. As someone who's not great at recognizing pop culture references, even I caught some!
On top of dealing with Grief and loss, all of the pop culture references, and all of the fantastic spicy (consent-filled) smut; A.E. also delivers an amazing story with a fantastic plot that I can promise you'll enjoy if you like comics and superhero movies.

In this dark fantasy, the group has to go their separate ways but continue with their goal of stopping the Angel of Wrath.

This was such an insanely chaotic, action-packed read, and I loved it! There were so many things happening that I couldn't help but read it every single second that I could just to see what was going to happen next.

The character development was so good. The diversity and inclusivity were on point. I didn't think I could love the characters more, but was proven wrong. The emotions were so deep. This author wrote grief in such a unique way, and it was extremely emotional.

In this story, you get plenty of morally grey characters, angels and demons, friends to lovers, tons of great spice, and you're put on an emotional roller-coaster! It's such a great series!

"He glided the back of his hand across her cheek, capturing the tears and smearing his blood along with it." This entire chapter broke me!

A.E. Cosby doesn't fail when it comes to a thrilling action pack ride dark fantasy series. Wrath's Daughter picks right up where The Chaos Wielder left off. With the team trying to pick up the pieces after the previous battle and losing their leader, Aurelio. Xavia has chosen to hide herself from the world, leaving Styx to cope with the outside world, one of which she's never been used to. We get to see more of Styx, Tristan, Jacinto and Quade, which I really enjoyed. Plus more of what happened after the battle. If you enjoy, a fast paced, action dark fantasy, this series and the one for you!!! I really can't wait till the rest of the books in this series!!

A Wild Ride That I’m Stepping Off Of—With Appreciation

Alright, folks, let me take you on a journey through *Book 2 of This Series*—a journey that, while intense and immersive, has ultimately convinced me that Books 3 and 4 just aren’t in my future. But that doesn't mean the ride wasn't memorable.

At over 600 pages, this book certainly offers a lot of content. While I expected more progression in plot and character arcs, the story instead leaned heavily into recurring cycles of tension, intimacy, and conflict. For some readers, that might hit the mark, especially if you enjoy high drama and constant emotional entanglement. For me, though, it began to feel a bit repetitive. That said, the energy and intensity are undeniable—this world is not one of quiet moments, and the author clearly knows how to turn up the heat.

Speaking of heat—this book is *steamy*. The sex scenes are bold and frequent, and while I personally felt they started to blur together after a while, I admire the author's confidence in going all-in with them. There’s no hesitation in her writing, and it’s clear she knows the audience she's aiming to satisfy. Some moments may have felt overused or formulaic to me, but others may find comfort or enjoyment in that consistency.

In terms of character development, I found myself wanting more depth and nuance. There are hints at layered backstories and motivations, but they didn’t quite land with the emotional weight I was hoping for. Still, there’s definite potential here—the seeds are planted, and I can see how future installments *could* build on them.

Xavia and her alter ego, Styx, were a fascinating concept on paper. I was excited to see how duality would play out, but their contrast felt a bit too binary for my taste—more “black and white” than shades of gray. However, I love the idea of exploring identity and internal conflict, and I think there’s a lot of room for this theme to grow in a powerful direction.

There were a few moments where the formatting threw me off—like a chapter ending abruptly or a layout oddity that made me think I missed a page. These may be minor technical issues, but they did briefly disrupt the flow. I also noticed a handful of grammar and syntax inconsistencies, which could probably be tightened up with an extra editing pass.

What shines through the most in this book is the author’s passion. It’s obvious she poured a tremendous amount of heart and imagination into this world, and I truly respect that. There’s a strong creative spark here, and I believe with time and refinement, her storytelling could evolve into something really compelling.

While this series isn’t the right fit for me, I sincerely wish the author the best and hope she continues to grow and push her boundaries. She’s created something bold and unapologetically hers—and that’s worth celebrating.

Shocking twists, unputdownable drama, and steamy scenes await in book 2 of The Chaos Series by A.E. Cosby!! After book 1’s epic ending and cliffhanger, I quickly (emotionally and mentally) ran to start this book and I am so glad I did!! The story just keeps getting better and better!!

This story is DARK, heartbreaking, edge of your seat eventful, but also eye opening, extremely emotional, and darn it if it didn’t spark an energy to fight all those who have wronged others in our world!!

I fell head over heels for Xavia, Aurelio and Quade in book 1, but then in rolls Jacinto, Styx and Tristan with their banter, humor, epic traumatic pasts, and out of this world chemistry that explodes off the pages!!

The Chaos Series has been a well worth it rollercoaster of a ride and I am buckled in tight for whenever Cosby gifts us the next masterpieces in this series!!

P.S. you can get more in the bonus chapter (Peach Cobbler), it worth it 😍
