Court of Chains #2

A Little Sin

Rate this book
It can take time to feel proud of who you are.

Violet Kane is perfect. At least, that’s what people are supposed to think. She has the perfect career, the perfect presentation, and, until recently, she was engaged to the perfect man. To everyone around her, she's perfectly happy. But pretending to be happy is difficult when you're breaking apart at the seams. Be it with eighty-hour work weeks, nicotine dependency, or dark thoughts of just ending it all… Violet has used nearly every tool available to maintain her performance.

If only Violet could trust someone to take that desperate control away. To let her turn off.

Something is hunting Reyna Alvarez, and though she knows what it is, it doesn’t make it any easier to deal with. When she contacts the Court of Chains for help, she is confined to a secluded forest cabin for her protection. But hiding and submitting isn't in the nature of a Pride fiend.

So when a beautiful, stressed-out, high-strung woman appears at her cozy prison, Reyna proposes a practical arrangement. If Violet Kane were around—on her knees, no less—isolation might even be fun.

A Little Sin is a lesbian romance that depicts the highs and lows of coming out later in life and learning to live for yourself rather than someone else’s expectations.

I had a great time diving into the second installment of the Court of Chains series. Reyna and Violet made such a compelling couple—their chemistry was intense, and the story struck a great balance between drama, angst, steam, and romance. It was also a treat to see more of Blake and Flea from the first book; getting to know them better added a nice layer to the story.

This installment definitely leaned more heavily into the BDSM themes—bondage, discipline, dominance, and submission were front and center this time around. I’ll admit I personally preferred Kiss of Seduction, but I still found this one to be an engaging and enjoyable read.

Trigger Warning: This book contains significant discussion of eating disorders. It's a recurring theme that may not be expected given the genre and could be distressing for some readers. Please take care and be mindful before diving in.

A Little Sin is more than just a dom-sub relationship or the sex that goes with it. If you consider the minutiae of the story, it is so very intricately woven with psychology. The push and pull between the trauma and the healing was so very carefully constructed by author, I am in awe of how seamlessly they pulled it off. On top of all that, RS weaved in sexual exploration and freedom of the character. Despite the heaviness of it all, the whole thing did not feel offensive or feel like they’ve gone over the top not one bit. It’s a friggin talent to be able to carry ALL that baggage and come out with a well written, conscientious dom-sub story.

4.5⭐️This one is complex and peculiar. It's a Court of Chains story, so I was expecting a lot of action with Reyna trying to escape a wraith. I did have some of these scenes, but less than in Kiss of Seduction. It was way deeper than I expected, and the big villain was not the one I thought. This book is really focused on Reyna and Violet's relationship. I admit I was a bit skeptical at first, even a bit uneasy with the dynamic of the relationship. I love when writers make me question myself, wondering if I found this relationship unhealthy or not. But Sabor made my brain do a 360, and in the end, I had no doubt that Reyna's priority was Violet's well-being. Violet's character is absolutely heartbreaking, on the absolute verge of breaking, but wearing a mask to please her mother.I wanted to hug her so many times and was thankful for Blake's character. I wondered how Sabor was going to repair years of bullying and mental abuse. I wished so much the wraith was sent against their mother. The book has 558 pages that felt like 300, and her journey is not rushed, full of progress and setbacks thanks to Reyna's unorthodox methods and patience. Reyna's character is really likable, and in the end, she was kind of perfect to me; her fiend side only showed its flaws in the end. Seeing that mutually beneficial arrangement turning into love was truly heart-melting and fulfilling. The steamy scenes were a cherry on the cake. I didn't expect this book to be about healing and really enjoyed it.

I was hooked immediately and struggled to put it down! I absolutely loved this book! It was just as good as Kiss of Seduction, so if you loved that you’ll definitely enjoy this one! Rawnie has done an outstanding job of the plot, the characters and covering some difficult topics! This book certainly had me feeling allll the feelings! I was so emotionally connected to Violet! I just wanted to cry with her and scream for her! But also Reyna, what she had been through. Ahhh! I love it and love the characters.
But I must also mention the spice….god damn! It was so so good! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Highly recommend this book! And it’s available now on KU!

Little update as I’ve just reread this with the new audio and Allie Shae! Bravo! My god she did an amazing job with this book. I highly recommend the audiobook!

Written in third person with 2x main POV’s. Dom/Sub dynamic. BDSM. Toaster Oven. Coping with grief. It does cover some sensitive topics like eating disorders and suicidal ideations, so please be aware of this before reading. The book has 9 amazing spicy scenes 🥵

I initially wondered if this was going to be much like Kiss of Seduction, but it wasn’t. Not at all. But like Seduction, I loved it.

Author Rawnie Sabor did an excellent job of developing the Violet Kane character, allowing her the time to believably go on the journey she did. Her story was the highlight of the book for me, with Reyna being the catalyst for the change desperately needed in her life.

Narrator Allie Shae once again impressed with her performance. She gives each character their own unique voice, while bringing all the emotion. She is all in with the steam as well - and this is a very sexy book. She’s the perfect narrator for these books and I really hope she does more.

This is a stand-alone book in the Court of Chains universe.

Another book that reminds me why half stars should be introduced! It’s a 4.5 easy. If I truly read it stand alone I may have said 5 just out of pure enjoyment, ease of reading and spice. But it did follow Kiss of Seduction for me which was even more impressive.

If I wanted something more from this read, it would be more wraith! Its presence is a large part of Reyna’s character history and current isolation. It was just a strange threat I guess, since it can only hunt at night and there was such a short time to end the hex that it became super obvious how things would go when Violet was begging to stay over after the suns gone down. Maybe more of the Wraith POV chapters would have boosted the anticipation when it decided to stalk, hide and plan more after failed attempts.

I definitely didn’t have issues with Blake’s reactions to Reyna. Some reviews are hating on her but her twin was in pain y’all and her disposition to shoot at anything pissing her off was actually well restrained imo. Reyna fucked up plenty, and said as much herself so I think it’s all valid.

I think the Pride fiend was a more difficult Sin to work with compared to Lust. Felt even more complex in terms of how to satiate and have a long lasting relationship bond. That said, Violet needs Reyna just as much as Reyna needs her and their connection was well thought out in ways that other writers might have fluffed it.

God their mother is a piece of work- nuff said!

Overall a good sequel that still has me wondering more about Blake and Flea so need to get that one on the go

What can I say about this?

I went into this series sceptical. MF authors have this tendency to dip their foot into the sapphic space, either because they're trying to discover their bi side or because the MF market is saturated. As a result, lesbian characters are either stereotypes, fetish objects, or both. In short, those books are written about me, but they aren't written for me.

RS rose so far above that, and in addition, she also portrayed a D/s relationship accurately - an even more rare thing to find. D/s relationships, even in FF fiction are almost always portrayed as a modern "Prince rescuing peasant" fantasy and it's kind of ick and definitely exploitative.

On top of that, there's fantastic line writing, character arcs and world building. This one is more character rather than plot focussed, so if you prefer that, I'd suggest Kiss of Seduction instead.

At any rate, I can't praise this highly enough, especially as an indie publisher. To any lesbian or D/s enthusiast, this is the one for you.

The dynamic between Reyna and Violet was just perfect. They needed each other and at times they were so incredibly sweet. The steam and the spice were fantastic. Rawnie never lets us down with that. The D/s relationship was portrayed beautifully. I never read Blake and Flea’s story but I knew them from Kiss of Seduction and I didn’t feel like I was missing parts of the story.

I wish there had been a little more world building and more insight into what makes a pride fiend tick, other than being bossy. I kinda looked at it like an Reyna was an extrovert who fed off the energy of other people, but I’m uncertain and that’s why I would like a little more world building in that regard. I’d also like to know a little more about how Reyna had her “marks” stolen. I know she was a “young” fiend, but more back story would have drawn me into the story s bit more.

Overall, it was a great read. Can’t wait for Rawnie’s next installment.

I just finished reading this book and WOW. The complexity of the characters, the situations but above all the psychological part are simply wonderful, having already read Kiss of seduction and knowing the author I did not expect anything less. The development of the relationship between Reyna and Violet is predictable but not obvious, and the way in which Reyna leads Violet to discover herself is unmatched. Really wonderful and the spicy scenes are really hot (5 out of 5 in the spice scale for those who are intrested).

“Fiends don’t do well without mortals to corrupt, and getting to corrupt you is the best thing I’ve done in years.”

REREAD 2025. 4.5 stars. Still a near perfect goddamn romance. I swore to myself that I was going to take my time with this reread, draw it out over a week at least, but I'm so in love with Reyna and Violet, and I couldn't help but absolutely devour this again. I think I liked it just a teeeeeensy bit more this time? Evie and Natalya are still my favourite, but oh man, there's a lot about Reyna and Violet's dynamic, and the ways they change and grow with each other, that mean so so much to me. The book is obviously really sexy, and I LOVE it for that, and the way it showcases kink. But where it really gets me is the character interaction, how much Violet grows on her own but can still lean on Reyna. The very premise of a pride demon being the one to give a brittle, closeted lesbian her confidence back is one I'm enamoured with. And I love the family relationships, and how certain things are and are NOT handled. I recently read a romance where a horrible, shitty parent gets a half-assed redemption arc at the very end, and it made me appreciate this, and the way Sabor handled the parent/child relationship, so much more. I was still really frustrated with Reyna during the third act conflict (she didn't grovel enough!) and I still have a lot of nitpicks with the author's writing (too many adverbs and a lot of wonky word choice!) but those things couldn't stop me from loving this.

Listened to the audiobook as read by Allie Shae, and it was sublime. Just like in the first book, I thought her voices were a peeeerfect match for these characters. And the raw emotion she was able to put into some of the really tough scenes, and the sex scenes... so good. I don't think I'll ever reread this without the audio. I already counted this book as an all time favourite, but the reread definitely solidified it. There are soooo many moments that stand out in my mind (Violet growling at Aleksander and then immediately turning into a kitten with Reyna; the afternoon on the dining table; "Violet smokes?") and I'm already looking forward to revisiting them. This series has a piece of my heart.

--

“The violet flower is a symbol of humility. Being of Pride, I’m innately drawn to it.” Reyna bit her lip with a grin. “It suits you. Being virtuous.”

4.5 stars. I enjoyed this a liiittle less than the previous book in the series, but only a little less. I LOVED it, so so much. It's really not like me to speed through a 500+ page book that I have to read physically, but once again, wild horses couldn't pull me away. I enjoy the world and the paranormal aspects, but mostly I just adore these books for their couples, their dynamics, and the love that the author writes between them. I'm sooooo sad that there aren't yet anymore sapphic books in the series, other than a little novella about Evie and Natalya, which I'm making myself save for later. Might actually go back and read Blake and Flea's romance, because I do like them. We'll see.

Anyway, this book follows the romance between Reyna, a cocky pride demon who's being mercilessly hunted by a supernatural entity, and Violet, a cut-throat, highly-strung business woman who grudgingly realises she could benefit from the kind of relief Reyna gives. It starts as a totally platonic arrangement for stress relief; Reyna, as a pride demon, feeds off submission and being able to build others' confidence, and Violet needs an outlet to relinquish control and relax. At the beginning of the book, Violet doesn't even know that she has feelings for women, and that aspect, of a Pride demon helping her realise things about herself... ohhhh I adored it. Even if it didn't play out exactly in the ways I'd have preferred. Like the other book, it's pretty sex-forward, but in a way that feels necessary and vital to the characters' story, to their growth. And also it was just really hot.

I immediately loved Violet as a character. My heart was breaking for her from the first page. We're introduced to the insecure, fraying at the seams, shaky Violet before we see that confident, ultra-capable, bitchy mask that she wears for the rest of the world. Both those aspects of her personality have some truth behind them, and what was great about the book was seeing her develop stability and the type of confidence that wasn't just a wall or a defence mechanism. One of the first things I loved was how different she is around Reyna, as opposed to everyone else. One of my favourite tropes is a strong, HBIC woman who takes no shit from the world at large, but melts and gets super soft for her gf. If written well and believably, it never feels like a contradiction. And gosh, did I ever love how this author wrote it. I completely bought Violet as the take-charge, boss-from-hell who's completely capable of scaring sidhe and facing down powerful vampire kings, but who totally crumbled, in the best way, for Reyna. (And who crumbled in heartbreaking ways under her mother's criticism and scrutiny. The ED stuff and casual suicide ideation especially were hard to read.)

Reyna didn’t want Violet cowered into submission. She didn’t want her scared. She wanted Violet to fall apart under her command.

Reyna was a total dream. I mean, I usually think cockiness as a character trait is gross and not that attractive, but thankfully, the way she wields her sin of pride isn't anywhere as obnoxious as it could have been. She gets power when others submit to her, but she also thrives off of building confidence and poise in others, and I loved that as the vehicle for the growth in their relationship. There are also hints that she's definitely not always the epitome of pride, and they're all in the ways she bends, or considers bending, for Violet. I liked her backstory, though I'm often leery when deceased partners get compared to new ones. I mostly liked the way this was handled. A lot of tragedy, but also an opportunity for Reyna to learn. It's REALLY difficult for her, but sometimes she gets to need people and be taken care of too, and I LOVED the way Violet did that for her. (I'm especially thinking of that scene with Aleksander.) I really loved the way the D/s was handled. No matter how cocky she is, Reyna is always kind and attentive, gives lot of praise. In those early moments before it becomes romantic, I loved how effectively she made things quiet and serene for Violet. And uhhh, it was really hot. This was my first time reading free use, I think, and... thumbs up, A+, no notes, et cetera.

Family relationships were a big part of this. I loved seeing Violet's relationship with her sister. Blake was in the previous book a bit, and I loved her attitude and bitchiness, and I loved her even more here. We're seeing their bond at it's best in years, and it's really sweet, how Blake is so ferocious in wanting to protect Violet. Their scenes together always made me vaguely emotional. And wooof, the toxic relationship with the mother? So hard to read, so heartbreaking, the ways you could see how she built Violet into the woman she is, and then constantly breaks her down. Like, the immediate shifts we'd see in Violet's personality (sometimes subtle, sometimes not) when she had to deal with her mother?? Genuinely made me so sad.

I had more writing nitpicks with this than in the first book. Just a general sense that it could have used a closer edit, for readability and word choice. There were lots of instances where a word was used in a way that didn't quuuite make sense in the context. (The common disposition? Provokingly good?) It was fine, because I could always see what the author was going for, but it was definitely jarring. And I also started to notice an overuse of certain words. Like, everyone keeps sneering. All the damn time, often in situations where sneering didn't feel appropriate. And the word tragic was used waaaaaay too often. That genuinely annoyed me a bit, because it's a heavy word, and seeing it used all the time makes the situations sometimes feel trivial. So yeah, the writing could have definitely used more polish.

But nevertheless, I loved this so much. I loved them together SO MUCH; perfect example of a couple that makes each other better. Even if it's in unconventional ways. Thinking about the way Violet blossomed and lit up under Reyna's care... UGH THEY'RE PERFECT. I really loved the exploration of kink and D/s, but more than anything, the love story made me smile. SO many things about this made me smile. Flea and Blake's bickering, the growth of Christina the assistant, every time Violet got to verbally rip someone apart, only to turn into a puddle at Reyna's feet within the next few pages. The plot of this wasn't very substantial, but that was because most of the book was concerned with their personal growth and with the romance. And those aspects were handled so damn well. I genuinely can't wait to read more from the author, and I'm eagerly anticipating Vex's book.

Content warnings:

She trailed her hands to Violet’s waist, pulling her nearer, and Violet’s hands slipped from her jaw to her shoulders. Then further to rest around her neck. Hanging lazily. A calm hold that Reyna wanted to grow old in.

Violet Kane is Blake's twin sister, an ordinary human who has been initiated (that means she's aware of the supernatural and the true nature of the Court of Chains). She's got a very successful career, and between that and high-pressure parents she's barely holding on. The pressure to be perfect is leading to self-destruction.

Reyna is a lesser fiend of Pride, born as a human with her true nature manifesting at 25. A clash with a witch who tried to enslave her has left her girlfriend dead and Reyna herself pursued by a wraith. With the expansion of the Court of Chains, Reyna is now in their jurisdiction and they're helping her with a safe house and a way to draw the wraith off. When Violet discovers Reyna in the safe house they realize they can help each other. Reyna needs to dominate someone to feed her fiend nature and Reyna desperately needs a place where she doesn't have to make decisions. They make an arrangement which isn't sexual as Violet thinks she's straight, but as they progress, things change.

This is a very different book from the previous one. Violet is damaged by sustained familial emotional abuse, rather than torture and rape like Evie was. She's also so deep in the closet that her mother's rigid expectations have created for her that she doesn't even realize that she's gay. Reyna has trauma to work through as well, so this book is mostly about the relationship between these two damaged women and becoming strong through it. The supernatural elements are there, but not as dominant as in the previous book.

I actually enjoyed this one more than book one.

One other note, this one doesn't have quite the catalogue of content warnings as the first book in the series, but it is about BDSM, homophobia and emotional abuse, so be warned. Also content warning for an eating disorder.

Another 5 Star Entry in the Court of Chains Series.

(I received an ARC of A Little Sin provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.)

I can't start this review without mentioning just how much I loved this book's predecessor, Kiss of Seduction. It had my favourite spice/BDSM content of any book I have read. Evie and Natalya's dynamic was, I thought, unbeatable... Then I read A Little Sin.

Violet and Reyna's relationship starts off as something practical for them both: a hungry pride fiend who is satiated by submission, and a high-flying corporate ice queen who's specialty is barking orders. But when the stress of life, and impressing her impossible parents finally gets to her, she accepts a deal to totally submit to Reyna for a few hours a week.

The kink in this book is absolutely phenomenal. Violet and Reyna's relationship, while plagued by stupid assumptions and miscommunications, is so sweet and beautiful. Normally miscommunication annoys me (I cannot stand 3rd act break ups), but the miscommunications fit well for their characters and for their relationship arc.

The way both characters find themselves and overcome their insecurities adds the deliciously sweet and heartwarming undercurrent that was also present in Kiss of Seduction. The action in A Little Sin also thrills and provides momentum to the plot.

(Most of) Rawnie Sabor's Court of Chains series continues to be some of my favourite sapphic spice and romance out there, and A Little Sin is no exception!

Really interesting world building, enticing story and capital H Hot romance plot.

I really enjoyed this, the mixture of fantasy and darkish (? Idk what counts as dark romance) romance plot really worked so well here and I was so immersed while reading I barely wanted to anything else. This is a series of standalones, and I picked up this book because of the "so you've finished arcane and want more of Caitlyn and Vi?" recs on my FYP. I don't think it really compares, but I love love love me a butch4fem/masc4fem story so I don't care- this book was great! I will probably read more of this series purely because I am very interested to see what more this world has to offer but I will miss Reyna deeply..

Anyway- I sincerely recommend this! (but do check for trigger warnings ;) )

Grab an entire box of tissues before you settle down with this one - you’re going to need them, but in the absolute best way possible. I feel like something deep inside of me that I didn’t even realize needed to be healed was healed by reading this book. It’s very much a journey of self-discovery and healing, and as always, Sabor handles these topics with so much care, you can feel the love for these characters seeping off the pages.

As soon as we met Violet in Gifts of Gold, I knew she needed to star in her own novel, and her and Reyna’s story did not disappoint. At first, you think that only Violet had healing and growth to do, but it becomes evident that Reyna does too, something that may not be the easiest for a Pride fiend but is necessary for her nonetheless.

Characterization, character growth and storytelling are really where Sabor shines. I was taken on an absolute wild ride with this one, but everything gets addressed and comes full circle in the end, always in the most satisfying way that leaves me wanting the next novel in the series immediately. I sometimes have the fear when reading a series, that the characters will start to blend together, but each character and their journey in this series are unique and distinctive. Their voices are all so different, it's such a joy to read. I also super enjoyed getting to see the cameos from some of the characters that we already know and love.

This book has it all! Protective love interest vibes, gay girlies, fiends, wraiths, Court politics, toxic Mothers, hurt/comfort, SPICE ON SPICE ON SPICE! I truly could not recommend it enough, especially if you love sapphic, spicy, urban fantasy.

I received an eARC from the author (my first ARC ever!) and am super grateful! I’m utterly obsessed with this series and the characters and the writing. I’m lowkey already counting down the days until we get Sam and Drago’s story.

4 stars - solid follow up to book one. Was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see Natalya and Evie at all in this book. They don’t even get a mention much less than appearance, which seemed odd.

Nevertheless, the writing is top-notch. The heroines are interesting, the sexy scenes are steamy, the little bit of action scenes are exciting and terrifying. I am very much looking forward to book 3.

Rawnie Sabor is back at it with a great lesbian romance!! I loved this book, but more importantly I loved Rawnie’s characters and I was so excited to see them grow.
Violet, who hides behind a mask in all aspects of her life, comes apart and becomes truly herself with Reyna. And Reyna, a lesser pride demon (so essentially, a cocky show off), cares for her so much she is willing to go against her very nature — she considers hiding their relationship while Violet figures her life out.
The writing is great, the spice is great, the characters are great - I cannot wait for more sapphic stuff from this author.

Talk about a little pain with all the pleasure. Oof! From eating disorders to nicotine addiction, D/s to lovemaking, necessity to adoration- this book delivers all the goods like a swift punch straight to your guts. The feels slap you, cuddle you, and tussle you around like the dog toy you signed up to be for reading this. Admittedly, I have skipped the hetero pairing books, but the sapphic ones? Signed, sealed, delivered- awesome. Cannot wait for more pairings down the road. Next book is said to be hetero, so I'll just twiddle my thumbs and eagerly await the arrival of the lady loves.

This one is so good.

This was a lot different than what i was expecting. I very much enjoyed this read and i was thoroughly entertained. The plot was simple and fun to follow. I loved the setting of the cabin in the woods.

I think the development of these two characters is explored to perfect. Its 100% believable and very much accurate to their person. Seeing Reyna accept some love and help and then seeing Violet become who she is. Violet changing into a confident more full version was my favorite part.

There are also so many sweet moments. The aftercare is just so sweet every time. So many cuddles and kisses and playing with shirts. I mean seriously. It was so soft. Somehow it was darker than book one though.

The BDSM is also in full effect here - super spicy

I truly was invested in Violets plot. The way she started out as this mega ice queen who had to be perfect vs who she was at the end was an astounding difference. I only wish er saw more of it at the end. But seeing Violet in the cabin with Reyna made me flutter.

Now Reyna’s story is just as much about healing as Violets is but shown in a different way. Not each person experiences a trauma and heals the same way which I think this book did an excellent way of exploring and showing that.

Overall it is a great book with multiple layers and great spice

I loved this book. Sabor may be one of my new favorite authors. I’ve only read her Sapphic stories, because that’s my jam, but I’ve enjoyed them all so far and I’m looking forward to the next ones. I love the combination of urban fantasy and BDSM/kink she brings. The characters are complicated, complex, well fleshed out people. Even the side characters feel multidimensional. A lot of authors fall into the trap of not giving enough depth into characters already established in other works, whether it was necessary to read them or not. Sabor does not fall into that trap. I felt like Flea and Blake especially were very fleshed out and authentic.

The romance between Violet and Reyna was great. The BDSM dynamic between them was different from a lot of kink stories in that it didn’t involve a lot of explicitly kinky play, which I really loved. It isn’t often that a power exchange like theirs is depicted, especially in a positive way, and this was great. I also loved watching Violet’s broken character begin to find peace and acceptance of herself within that dynamic. But even Reyna’s character is changed by their relationship, which again doesn’t happen often. The dominant person is usually depicted as a kind of monolith, and seeing her struggles felt more authentic. Of course, the chemistry between the two of them was on fire from the moment they see each other, even if Violet hadn’t yet come out to herself. Loved the variety in the spicy scenes.

There is no third act breakup. There are several instances of one or the other MC pulling away from the other. All of the reasons are complex and make sense. There are no obvious misunderstandings to trip these two up. Looking forward to seeing these two in future novels.

Since I really enjoyed reading KoS I was really excited to receive an ARC of this book by the author and can now leave a voluntary review. I absolutely loved this book! There’s just something about Rawnie Sabor’s writing style that keeps me reading because it never gets boring. I really liked the storyline as well as the characters and the topics of mental health mentioned in the book. Because ALS takes place in the same universe as KoS there were a few familiar characters which I thought was quite cool! All in all I felt like this book was a bit less dark/heart-wrenching than KoS but it was definitely just as amazing!

⭐ 5 stars and higher if I could.

It's not rare for me to find a few books that I call masterpieces, but anything from Rawnie Sabor is one of them.

I’m kinda at a loss for words to describe how much I loved this book (okay maybe not lol). The writing and the pace are top notch. It’s never repetitive in terms of words like the majority of books, and it’s so refreshing.

Reyna is such a wonderful creature. Even for being of Pride, it’s crazy how healthy a partner she is for Violet. Always paying attention, always supportive.

Violet is such a complex character. The first time I read the book at release, it took me time to really love her, but god, do I now. She came from an environment more than toxic, with everyone having expectations for her to behave in the way they wanted. It took her so much to realize how wonderful of a human she is. She grew confident, and I can definitely say that not only was Reyna proud of her, even I was.

I have to make a little mention of Flea and Blake because I love them so much. They are important support characters in this book, and they grew so much over their years of relationship. Anyway, I’m just shipping at this point.

The angst was good, not too much, just the right amount. Whenever you don’t expect it, it comes knocking at your door.

I’m keeping a few quotes from this book forever. I’ll just put them below for whoever is interested (not exactly spoiler-free, so read at your own risk).

Oh, and before I forget : special mention for the worst mom ever in a book, being Violet’s mom. I hope she gets her little toe stuck on the edge of her bed daily forever. ;)

Overall, don’t hesitate even a second. This book will show you a writing style that’s different from the usual. You’re going to fall in love with pretty much all the characters and want to read every book in this long series to come.

‼️This one is for my smut lovers. Trust me. You’re going to want to read this one‼️

A Little Sin is an Adult Paranormal novel that is absolutely perfect!

(This book is part of a series but can easily be read as a stand alone.)

{Violet is a badass. A successful, ambitious, and icy career woman who is desperate for a moment of peace where she doesn’t have to constantly think and make decisions. Reyna is a lesser Pride fiend who is satiated off others submitting to her. She’s also stuck in isolation for her own safety because a hex set on ripping her apart.}

When the two first meet, there’s immediate interest. They agree to a practical arrangement where Violet surrenders control to Reyna in exchange for a chance to turn her brain off and relax. Violet doesn’t want anything sexual because she’s straight (😉) but that doesn’t last long.

🌶️Look, the smut is just 🥵🔥 Kinky as hell. A variety of toys and some public sex sprinkled on top. If you’re into steamy romances, this one is for you. The dom/sub relationship was expertly written and the dirty talk was everything. Just like in Kiss of Seduction, I could talk about this sizzling romance all day.

But even more than the hot ass chemistry, is the beautiful depth to the characters as they grappled with their respective traumas and healing. The main characters have so much strength but also their fair share of flaws, and it was a treat to see the way their arcs developed.

And oh my god I adore Rawnie’s writing style. I become obsessed with her characters and am perfectly immersed into the book’s world. Simply put, I loved everything about this story: Violets sexual awakening. The mommy issues. The grappling with doubts and insecurities. The submission. The sweet, tender moments. Flea and Blake’s cameo. Everything.

Overall, this story is beautiful and I seriously can’t recommend it enough.

I think this is my favorite read of 2024. All books of the genre need to step up to the plate. Her writing is just so fantastic and a breath of fresh air, especially coming from a lot of romance/erotica where the caliber does not even come close.

I love all of these characters in the Court Of Chains series and now definitely Violet might be my favorite. Even with this one not even taking place in the high rise for a vast majority of it I didn't care! All of the little call backs to things at the beginning of the books near the middle/end never feel forced or shoehorned.

Maybe if I had to nit pick, and I don't want to spoil anything but to have the same thing happen twice with a simar conclusion that the characters made had things dragging a bit, but also it would have also been not as exciting it it didn't happen again so maybe that's just a me problem.

Violets mom is the worst, and I love how realistic it is for Violets relationship to be complicated! Blake and Violet's relationship as well is super well done, as I've definitely gone through those motions with my own sisters, and we've also reached a good place to be.

Reyna and Vi. Their Dom/sub relationship was written well and so incredibly caring which unfortunately is very rare to see. I don't even know how to describe how much I just love these two together!! They both make eachother better. I just wish we got a scene in the Seventh Circle, as that would have been the cherry on top for me, but the one on the dining room table was definitely my favorite, maybe of the whole series.

Oh my. This is probably the best representation of BDSM I’ve read since Sunstone and damn it was hot and a good story to boot. Most sapphic romances tread water in BDSM-Lite; some silk scarves here, some “yes, Mistress” there. This book goes all in and explains the Dom/Sub relationship well and how it’s more than just sex. This is the 3rd book in the Court of Chains series but all the books can be read standalone. In this one we have a lesser Fiend, Reyna (half demon/half human), and a human, Violet, who strike up a relationship of supposed practicality but end up catching real feelings (because of course they do). I loved seeing Violet bloom and grow beyond the self imposed prison she made. Biggest knit: there is an ever looming threat after Reyna, that hunts her every night after dark. This is stated many times to us the reader and Violet. “Please can I stay the night?” “No, it’s dangerous…yeah ok”. What in the Gremlins poorly disregarded instructions is this??? Like, I know plot needs to move forward but come on, there’s gotta be another way instead of making smart people do stupid things.
