Well, I’m giving this book 3.5 stars. It was a fine book with an engaging storyline, but honestly was just a bit silly at times. It was short and felt slightly rushed and when I got done I don’t have any urge to reread it. So in total it was just, okay.
Artifact is a sci-fi thriller with an unexpected protagonist who proves surprisingly resourceful. The characters are believable in any book I've read, with Dave being an amazing, stand out character. Artifact Is well plotted, with plenty of twists, turns and double crosses. Plan on reading Artifact in one sitting, its a book you want to put down! 5 hard earned stars!
Action, intrigue, and adventure wrapped in a good story with very likable characters.
A fast paced, believable action - packed and entertaining story that reads like a cross between an old Indiana Jones story crossed with a good sci-fi tale. I really liked the characters and wanted them to succeed so much that I read the book in one sitting with just a forced break for Christmas dinner. I actually skipped dessert so I could finish. Next time I pick up one of this author’s books I’ll be sure to to eat my dessert first! Heartily recommended.
A fast paced action thriller. The story held my interest. But it was missing something. I'm having difficulty trying to figure out what was missing. The best way to think I can describe it is that there was no emotion in the story. I had difficulty feeling sympathy, fear, love, caring and all the emotions that are felt when reading a really good story. It read like a police report. Just the facts ma'am. Maybe if the book was another 100 pages some of that could have come out in the story.
It was a very exciting read. This book screams a sequel. And hopefully, there'll be more adventures. Now, with the main character, Dave, you'll have to suspend belief on how many times a guy with zero combat experiences other than video games escapes death. But hey, this is fiction.
A good science fiction story. Unfortunately written in the poor style promoted by college freshman English composition teachers. There are too many adjectives and just too many words. This book would benefit from having about one third as many words.
The weaving of known historical event into the plot made me smile in recognition. That must be how the author engages your attention. It worked. Worth the read.
I enjoyed other books by this author and am not disappointed with this offering as well. Great writing. Quick pace and keeps you wanting to turn the next page. Looking forward to more from this author.
This book didn’t take long to read. Lots of action to keep the pace going along with decent character development. A little more explanation of the “artifact “ would have been nice but otherwise an entertaining read
Well paced story and developed characters. Falk’s words disappear and you are no longer reading. There are a couple of rough spots where that flow stops but it’s minor.
Love Falk’s books, and I love how he weaves his books together even when they seem unrelated. This is a stand alone adventure thriller and a great read. I hope there are more adventures in store for both Dave and Judy.
I thought that no S.F. novel could keep me on the border of my seat so many hours expecting a Tunguska explosion to blow. Spies, traitors, mercenaries, heroes that denied being murder, and so on. Terrific book, Mr. Falk!!
This book is a pleasant read. Good characters, not so many as to collapse with fluffy useless data like most authors. Book left me wondering if there will be another book.
