“… Joe and I promised we would talk to no one about it; this is a secret we must take to our graves. Unless it kills us first.”
Two generations. One family. Countless secrets. Lizzie Beth Thompson longs to preserve her childhood memories with her grandparents. What she doesn’t know is that the reality of their love story is far different than her childhood perception allowed. Will she discover the truth about her grandparents’ relationship —and how it endured— before time erases them altogether? This breathtaking story reveals a single thread of faith, woven into the tapestry of one family’s very messy and, at times criminal, legacy.
Safely Kept is a great read. Its full of life, love, twists and most of all truth! The story balances the details of the past and the redemption of the future.
After starting several books that didn't hold my attention, this one definitely did. This was my bedtime read for the few nights that it took to finish it. This is a wonderful story of family, love, and dealing with the problems that life brings. I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to reading more from this author.
What an amazing story of faith and love. The first few pages were a bit confusing. But I quickly was drawn into the lives of Belle and Joe. Their pain, heartache and ultimate joy was so real I truly felt part of their lives. One of the best books I've read in along time. I look forward to more from this amazing and talented author.
Wow! This book is unlike any I have ever read! It is full of drama and suspense. It is delightfully entertaining while including moments of biblical truths sprinkled throughout a storyline that spans decades. I’m assuming it is relatable to many readers, because who also remembers weekly standing hair appointments and small town happenings that molded who we are? Who has struggled with valleys and celebrated sweet life moments? Readers will be blessed by reading this book. I can’t wait to see what this author does next. Bravo for Safely Kept!!!
This story has an interesting structure. The author organized the story through diary entries and first-person perspectives that switch between the three main characters. The author did an outstanding job organizing the storyline. My only con is that I wish the chapters were a bit longer. Due to the length of the chapters, some parts of the story felt slightly rushed. Overall, the length of the chapters didn't take away from the quality of the story or my overall experience reading it. This is definitely a page-turner.
This was a suspenseful dual timeline story! We get the FMC’s perspective through her journal entries. There is a bit of mystery that keeps you hanging on until the very end just waiting on those questions to be answered.
This is a new to me Author and I thought it was a sweet romance between Joe & Belle. They face a lot of really challenging things together and there were a lot of raw moments. I thought the Author wrapped it up nicely at the end.
There are heavier topics throughout this story also (will list under content.)
Quote from the book✨ But I’ve also found this to be true: You can waste all your days counting the bad stuff and questioning God. Or you can let go of the bad stuff, and let God lead you through it.
Content ⚠️ No foul language Kissing only Attempted SA Miscarriage mentions Some violence
I am always looking for well written clean fiction, so I was delighted to find this! I think presenting the story as diary entries was an excellent method. It makes the story more personal and also promises secrets around every corner. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
I liked the progression of the story being revealed in separate chapters of the 3 main protagonists speaking or writing. Looking forward to more books from Leslie whom I’ve known since she was a child. I’m so proud of her first publication!
This was a wonderfully written book by an amazing lady! Leslie poured her heart into this and I hope she continues to give us more of her writing. It made me laugh, cry, feel angry, and see so much love.
It's hard to grasp that this is Leslie Tally's first book! So much about the characters and story line are reflections of real people and events in life.
