Shadows From the Box

Love is complicated, and people are messy.

Some of the best lies we tell, are undoubtably the ones we tell ourselves, but when you read between the shadows there may be some truth there hidden in the cracks of time.

This is an all too familiar story of one multifaceted woman struggling to get through the harsh realities of modern dating, and finding her way back to herself after a wayward breakup that was long overdue.

Spiraling deeper into an abyss of her own making in what seems like a past life, while struggling to navigate a labyrinth of harrowing experiences and forbidden desires in her present reality, she discovers the cost of freedom is often entangled in darkness.

With each choice she makes, a new path is forged that threatens to expose another fragment of her soul. As the pieces fall away, lost to heartache and temptation, she is forced to adapt and confront the darkest corners of herself and the generational curse that lies within.

“Shadows From The Box” is a raw and personal story that takes place over the course of a decade in one woman’s life, where the boundaries of pleasure and pain become blurred. This story is but one like many others often untold.

A Note From the
“I really wanted to tell this story on my own terms, which is one reason I decided to self-publish. Since this is my debut novel, I really enjoyed the creative freedom with putting this story out there - without someone telling me to change it to fit the masses.

This is not a book for everyone, and it is certainly not a book for the masses. It is an intimate story about recovering from abuse and all those crazy-ass curve balls life throws at us sometimes. It is about not being ashamed to be a woman who is comfortable with her sexuality, while still figuring things out later in life. This poetically dark story is for all the women out there that are still trying to survive, and the ones still living with the aftermath.”

Welcome readers! I am publishing my first novel called "Shadows from the Box," which will be available on Amazon Kindle. I have been writing since I was a teenager, mostly poetry, and up until recently decided to write a novel. I am an avid romance reader. I love reading romcoms, fantasy, and science fiction novels.

I spend a lot of days working my day job, hanging out in discord book clubs, and playing fetch with my adorable dog.

Grateful to have been a beta reader for this new and upcoming author. Thank you for your trust and the back and forth chat we had during! 🩵

Amazing emotions throughout this whole book, and it really showcases a woman on her own self reflection journey while sticking a middle finger to her past life and not giving a fuck about anything. We see her in so many facets of emotions, and she is awesome.

I only wish I wanted a little bit more from the MMC and the FMC. More personality building, etc.

Also the spice in this?? 🔥🔥 Super well done and sexy. Loved every moment. I found it a little redundant at times, but its a journey of self reflection

Beta reader for this new author! This book had important life lessons, it was funny, the writing flowed very well. The smut was great but I loved that there was an actual plot and goal for the character. It’s still in beta but already a great first book and I see so much potential! 💖

✨ Since publication day is approaching quickly, I figured I would leave a note here for my future readers. This is a very raw and fictional story that hits very close to home for me personally. It was incredibly cathartic to write this and weave little pieces of myself into it in a way that tells not just a story about a woman going through something as difficult as DV can be, but an unraveling of how something like that can happen to anyone and how there are different ways we all not only cope with it, but begin to recognize it.

I know a lot of people think they would never allow themselves to be caught in a situation like this, but life isn’t that black and white. There are so many shades of gray that seep into every day experiences and decisions we all make to just endure or get by. 🌹

With that being said, this is about so much more than that singular experience. This story follows Mac, a no-nonsense ball buster of a woman that is just trying to figure her own shit out later in life after becoming a little jaded with love, but not letting that stop her in looking for it, or at least searching to feel something again.

🌶️ Also note, I didn’t write this based around “tropes,” but this is really spicy (in a smutty way - not an SA way)… if you are into that kind of thing, highly recommend, if not, this maybe isn’t for you… (MF/FF)

A quick read and a brilliant debut. Read most of it in an evening, I was so eager to get to the end. I loved that the fmc was quite strong and independent, even while in a rocky relationship, she was not quite naive to what was going on.

My favourite part was that ending, I didn’t expect that 👀

I really enjoyed this book. I can say I did not see the ending coming how it did. 10/10 would read again.
