First Christmas is a novella starring Becks and Lucas from Thirteen Years. Taking place 6 months after the events that unfolded in Thirteen Years, we catch up on the trauma that Becks has been facing.

While there's definitely spicey spice in this novella, it really focuses on Becks mental health. While I have not been a survivor of DV, I found the writing definitely gave me insight into what someone who has been goes through. It was deep, emotional, and very realistic to me. I like that we got to see this side of the story- it was genuine what someone in Becks place would have gone through months later.

Also, I think I love Nan (Lucas's grandmother). She's so cute!

This novella was written so well. D. Raven gives us a nice story with just enough spice!

I love Becks, she's been through a hard life filled with trauma but she still can be an amazing mom to Nat.

A traumatic event leads her to meet the hot cop, Lucas. He's a keeper and is willing to do anything for Becks and her daughter.

The story comes together and is a page turner and you may even shed a tear or many like I did!

I love Lucas and Becks.
This novella is heartwarming, steamy 🥵 and beautifully written!
Lucas loves Becks more than life itself!
He’s taken on Becks daughter on as his own!
He tries to help Becks through her trauma, it’s not easy, she hasn’t got used to living a normal life yet! But Lucas won’t give up.

Thank you for the opportunity! 🖤🖤 I loved every minute of it!

I don’t normally rate novellas this highly. Generally a 4 star is as high as I’ll go.
This one hit though and was so good.

Getting to peek back in on Becks and Lucas as they find their way through their first holiday and living together was fun. It was just a cute here’s all the happy stuff. It was a more realistic look at how trauma can affect people. How sometimes you get lost in it and it’s okay to ask for help, get said help and keep talking about what you need in order to heal. It was great to show that however that healing goes is okay even if it’s not “normal” (that doesn’t exist by the way normal).

I loved this and how they fought for each other and their found family every day. With everything they had.

Fucking Merry Christmas D.Raven and thanks for this wonderful view back into Becks and Lucas’s lives!!!

After Thirteen Years I needed more Lucas and Becks and I needed it now. But I wasn’t ready for how this book of healing was going to affect me so emotionally. The forgiveness, patience and most importantly the love that Lucas shows Becks is fairy tale romance levels plus Officer Marshall’s dirty mouth is something to experience however often you can.

Book - First Christmas (Novella)
Author - D.Raven

This short Novella story follows the story of Rebecca and Lucas from Thirteen years.

Rebecca - Her and her daughter have been through alot of trauma, they have moved from place to place.
A tragedy happened to one of her friends and the guilt torments her, when peace finally found her, she hasn't gotten used to a normal life just yet.

Lucas - Lost his best friend, but found his soul mate in Rebecca, who he loves more than the world itself, he's taken Becks daughter on as his own, they are his people, he tries to help Becks through her trauma, it isn't easy but he won't give up.

This Novella takes you through Becks and Lucas living together, through Lucas trying to give Becks the world her and their daughter deserves.

There is some hot spice within this Novella. It was beautifully written by this author. This is my first read by D.Raven and will not be the last! I can't wait to read more.

Very cute holiday novella! I loved reading about the couple in the first book again and how they spent Christmas together!

Honestly it was the first big happy Christmas our FMC and her daughter spent together and I’m so happy they are able to now get new and happy memories with their new family and friends!

While being a little emotional, it was good to read a happy Christmas story.
Everyone needs someone like Lucas to help them through their trauma. Strong and straightforward yet soft and understanding at the same time. Becs being the independent single mom gets to give her daughter the father she never had. While having the support of a family that was meant to be.
Let's not forget the spice was spicing. And Becs Christmas gifts was something to dream of 😍😍

Short and sweet, this was a cute little Christmas novella about Lucas and Becks. It was straight to the point and very heartfelt. Although I found over 5 spelling mistakes in the novel which was shocking

The novella First Christmas is as visceral as it is considerate, as poignant as it is inspirational! Featuring an unapologetic look at pain, strength, and the silent, stubborn force of love, D. Raven's prose goes beyond the boundaries of romance!
.
After THIRTEEN YEARS - first book, going back to Becca and Lucas is like visiting an atmosphere that is vulnerable and viciously alive! After surviving the unthinkable, Becca is still figuring out how to live her life. The past plagues her, showing up in the simplest things—a touch, a shadow, a passing thought that may overwhelm her. Lucas just like in the first book he is tough and very powerful character that makes Beck's life safer but the Author has created a FMC that doesn't depend on a male character and Becca is very strong and an inspirational character that I love so dearly! He is aware that recovery is not a straight line and that love cannot repair what has been damaged, but it can stand by the shattered parts and provide support at the most trying times!
.
There's an awareness that you don't have to face the dark by yourself, the writing of D. Raven is compelling, vivid, and tremendously poignant! Trauma is never romanticized nor reduced to a simple plot device by her, instead, she gives it the weight it merits, letting Becca's' path to unfold with sophistication and honesty! The representation of mental health is delicate and unapologetic, sensitively capturing the nuances of PTSD, shame, and self-worth.
.
Still, this novella never loses sight of love—not only romantic love, but the love that comes from family and friendship! The connection between Lucas and Becca is one of trust, tolerance, and affinity, their relationship is based on trust, shared challenges and it is not only physical, but the desire is undoubtedly electrifying!
.
It is a story of making it through, of welcoming love even when it seems unworthy, and of finding happiness even when the past still consumes you! The plot recognizes suffering without allowing it to define its characters. Here, D. Raven offers us something truly remarkable, a romance that confronts darkness opposed to rejecting it, extremely outstanding and very needed novella that I devoured in one sitting and it made me feel the emotions that not even a book with 800 pages could not, you can see that the Author has melted her soul into these stunning characters!

It was wonderful to catch up with Becks and Lucas as they navigated their first holiday together while living under one roof. This novella offered a heartfelt look at how trauma can impact people and showed that it’s completely okay to ask for help. It emphasized the importance of talking about what you need to heal, reminding us that there’s no one “normal” way to do it.

I loved how Becks and Lucas fought for each other and their new family every single day. Their bond felt genuine and strong, and it was inspiring to see how they supported one another through tough times.

This story really tugged at my heartstrings. The way it tackled mental health was so relatable, especially for someone like me who has faced similar feelings. I could see a lot of myself in Becks, and her journey resonated deeply with me. The love and care that all the characters had for each other shone brightly throughout the novella. It truly made this series one that I will treasure for a long time.

Thank you, D. Raven, for creating stories that resonate so much with readers like me. Even though this novella isn't particularly dark, it does contain some themes that could be triggering, so I encourage everyone to check the warnings before diving in. After reading the first book, I was eagerly looking forward to more of Lucas and Becks, and this Christmas story absolutely met my expectations!

Becks has everything she’s always wanted—a safe and loving home, a happy daughter, a supportive best friend, and a fiancé who cherishes her. Yet, despite all the good in her life, she can’t shake the feeling that she’s not enough. The anxiety that the people she loves might leave her someday adds a layer of depth to her character, making her struggles relatable and real.

Overall, this novella is a beautiful addition to their love story, filled with warmth and honesty, and I can’t wait to see where their journey goes next!

This novella, which explores suffering, courage, and what it means finding your home—not only in a location, but in the people who never give up on you—is tender, emotionally compelling, and brilliantly crafted.
.
As you are already mindful if you have read Thirteen Years, Becks and Lucas' story is not one of easy love, actually, it is one that has been earned, one that has borne hardship and loss and formed stronger on the other side. Six months after the events of the previous book, previous Christmas introduces us in their world and offers an interesting, fearless look at what it means to heal. Becks is learning how to live in a world where love and safety are eternal qualities in contrast to momentary ones that could be taken away at any time.
.
I was very touched by how this novel presents trauma as something that demands time, attention, and real work to overcome compared to something that just goes away when love enters the picture. And for that reason, this novella is so remarkable. It's realistic. The difficult pieces aren't sweetened. It honors the stress of the past yet creates place for hopefulness, coziness, and happy times.
.
I adore a good romance with a manly hero like Lucas. protective without ever being in charge. Strong but incredibly patient. He loves Becks unconditionally because he sees her for who she is, wounds and all. It's the kind of love story that makes you believe in wonderful guys because of the way he treats her daughter and allows Becks space to process her anguish without ever making her feel alone. In love that is safe. in second chances.
.
In the second installment of her series, D. Raven has created something absolutely unique and heartfelt, poignant, and completely captivating. You should read this book if you enjoy stories of characters who fight for happiness, love that persists through the most trying times, and courage.

D. Raven shapes every setting with an almost obsessive perfection. First Christmas is a tirelessly powerful book that is elegantly written, highly emotional, yet completely original. FIRST CHRISTMAS is a fabulously addictive novella, steamy, complex, phenomenally good time! I was completely consumed while I was reading it and I’m still thinking about it days later. I absolutely can’t wait to dive back into this world and continue this series!! The writing grips you with every scene, pulling you deeper into a world where the chaos has finally finished but we get to read more the issues it has left in our main character!
.
I really loved how the Author has carefully elaborated the story and that it tackles some very powerful themes in a fascinating way, the mental health is always appreciated in fiction also in spicy books and D Raven has done such a well-research on that topic that I highly recommend to read it to everyone! The constructing of the plot in this novella was very emotional and powerful and I felt every scene that is building the relationship between Becca and Lucas!
.
Even though the past threatens to drag them down, Becks and Lucas are still standing here, choosing each other, choosing love, and choosing to create something meaningful despite having been through pain. Writing with a sharp, heart-stopping detail, D. Raven never downplays the impact of pain while reassuring us of the confidence that comes from meeting an unconditional love.
.
A truly remarkable novel of fighting and finding peace in the arms of someone who won't let go, D. Raven's work is unputdownable and fascinating. This was short yet it made me not move my place from the very first page to last, I don't even remember breathing because those steamy scenes made me flip the pages in a fast pace, D. Raven's spice really does spice!!!

Review:
I got surprised with this today by Raven herself as well the rest of her street team so this was ultimately the best day to get this. I will always treasure Lucas and Rebecca and their love story in thirteen years, but first Christmas just topped everything together. I almost cried like no damn joke, the mental health rep in this was heavy and I understood Becks and related to her in some ways. I felt the love everyone had for each other in this book and this series will always be a series I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you Raven for writing this and for continuing to write more for those who love your stories and are always hyped to read them. Please do read trigger warnings even though this isn’t particularly dark, it does contain some triggering elements. Your mental health matters most 🫶🏼

That kind of romance between Becca and Officer Marshal is felt seriously burning like wildfire through every nerve, it is not just something you read. First Christmas is an amazing, darkly emotional novella that touches many mental health rep and it carefully unfolds a very powerful story. Becks and Lucas's love is a fire that burns through the ruins of pain and turns the ashes into something stronger. Each chapter snaps and every moment develops with a heat that occurs much afterward each and every word because D. Raven has created a world with outstanding precision and emotion.
.
This is a powerful evaluation of misery. adaptability, and the kind of love that keeps on being unbending in the face of catastrophe. Becks has scars that are too deep to heal in time, and Lucas Lucas is a rigid force that never falters or shifts. It feels almost sacred the way he sees her. On top of that, building her a library is an implicit commitment that he will always find room for her goals, regardless of how burdensome her past may be.
.
This novella is amazing considering its weight, it is full of friendliness, heart, and the silent, chilling moments that give love true meaning. Nan brings laughter into the voids left by tragedy with her razor-sharp wit and constant warmth. Also, Beccca herself is intriguing in a way that is nearly impossible to describe: her fire, her vulnerability, and her strong personality. It is truly heart-stirring to witness her struggle and to regain her own happiness by fighting and not surrendering in her own fears.

I was really enchanted by this novella. I will never be able to get over FIRST CHRISTMAS, which felt like experiencing the most attractive, heart-wrenching, and unstoppable holiday romance ever. My entire heart belongs to Becca and Lucas. I swear, I was swooning every five seconds at the way he sees her, how he loves her, and how patient and committed he is. And that surprise for Christmas. A library. A WHOLE LIBRARY. I'm weak. I need you in my life, Lucas—beautiful, flawless, and incredibly romantic.
.
Everything swirls around Becks. After everything she has gone through, she continues to stand, fight for happiness, and learn how to let love in. Although I was sad for her, I was also happy for her since it was so lovely to see her open her world to Lucas, Nat, and Nan. Oh my god, Lucas never pushed, never flinched, and never gave her the impression that she was too much. He simply adored her. The sexiest romance possible enveloped each and every page of this book like a warm hug.
.
This novella made me feel a lot and make me love Becca and Lucas even more. It was incredibly steamy, tender, and spicy. It made me experience every emotion in my body, including laughter and tears. One of my fave pairings will always be Becks and Lucas, and I urgently need more of them. You have ruined me in the most wonderful way, D. Raven, your writing is EPIC and you're my favourite Dark Romance Writer PERIOD

Release Date: December 3, 2024

This novella takes place after the first book of the series Thirteen Years. So if you’re wanting more Lucas and Becks action, go read this book! Even though I feel this book can be read as a standalone, if you want the full effect of their story, I would read Thirteen Years First.

It’s Lucas and Becks first Christmas together! And there is so much light in this novella. It was such a satisfying read.

Becks has been through so much shit. And she more than deserves a happy ending. You see her go through so much in this book too, but it’s all mental, mainly doubt and grief. And when she finally speaks up about her feelings, it was so freaking nice to see her support system be there for her, support her, and listen to her. She had such a breakthrough and it was so satisfying to see.

Lucas is this sexy tattooed cop that has everything he could possibly want and more. I didn’t think he could get any better, but boy was I wrong. The way he cares for Becks and her daughter is unbelievable. And the patience he has with them, especially Becks, is nothing short of amazing. And what he did for Becks for Christmas😍😍😍I’m freaking jealous! Move over Xaden Riorson because I have a new ultimate book boyfriend!

I read Thirteen Years earlier this year and loved it so I was super excited when First Christmas was announced as a holiday novella!

I loved getting to catch up with Becks, Lucas, Nat and the rest of the gang! I love how D Raven showed trauma and PTSD through Becks in this book. I felt it was very real and relatable. I love that Lucas never faultered he was always there for her. Becks really deserved it all and I'm so glad she found someone to give it to her. His and Nat's Christmas surprise for Becks was beautiful and every book lovers dream! I definitely shed some tears which isn't easy. I really just love these characters.

Nan. Man I love her! She is hilarious and is blunt in a loving way and put Lucas in his place. The way she loves Becks and Nat just warms my heart.

Monica has my heart. I love her so much. I'm still mad about Paul. I literally cannot wait for her book next year though to see her second chance with Trevor. It's going to be so good. Monica deserves it all and so do her girls. That Christmas gift from Becks and Lucas and Paul of my goodness my heart broke and exploded all at once. I'm sure I'll cry on her book because I've been ready for it. I still wouldn't mind a Paul and Monica novella. 😉

I highly recommend this, but I would recommend reading Thirteen Years first!

Or have they?

Review:
A Christmas novella was not on my bingo card for October, much less this beautifully heartwarming one. Becks and Lucas are settling down for their first Christmas under one roof, so be prepared for lots of cheese, tons of steamy spice, and the perfect gift for your favourite bookworm! It's not out for a while, but you'll have plenty of time to read book 1: Thirteen Years and still get this in before Santa empties his sack!

Even for a short 120 pages, this was such a great representation of what adjusting to a healthy relationship with ptsd.

Lucas is such a doll. Always going above and beyond for Nat and Becks. I can’t imagine how difficult it is to be patient with someone who has the traumas that Becks does. While my own trauma may not reach the same level, I have a similar history as Becks, and I know how hard it is to function day to day. I also know it takes a ridiculous amount of effort for my husband to always be understanding and compassionate with me.

This little novella was very much a gift to read. It made me feel seen, reading some of my own ptsd trigs being ‘lived’ by someone else.

Monica is, as always, the world’s best friend anyone could ever ask for.

This Christmas novella was just so beautiful and heartwarming. I have been itching for book two since I finished book one, and I can’t wait to see what happens with Mon and Trevor 🫣🫶🏼

Becks is so freaking strong. That woman has been through so much pain and trauma and it's haunting her 🤍
Adjusting to a big change after such a traumatic event is a lot for one person to handle. Her breakdown was just so monumental and emotional.

I loved the acceptance of Nat into the family by Lucas & Nan. They didn't to love her like their own and that was so sweet and amazing.

As for the Christmas surprise, any man who builds a woman a freaking library is a man to keep for life!!!!!! I loved that so much.

I cant wait to experience Trevor and Monica's story. Also any one else getting a Nick & Caroline vibe? Just me?

First Christmas is a Finding Freedom series holiday novella that takes us back to Becks and Lucas as they are trying to navigate through life together after all of the trauma Becks has been through. This book definitely gave me everything I was looking for in a holiday romance and not just the love between Becks and Lucas but the patience, kindness, and understanding there is in their relationship that helps guide Becks to find peace as well as healing. This holiday season if you are looking for heartwarming spicy romance that will leave you feeling complete than I suggest reading First Christmas. Thirteen Years is the first book in this series, and you do not have to read it before this novella, but I highly recommend you do so you can get the full fantastic Becks and Lucas story.

Thank you, D. Raven, for the ARC and I can't wait to read the next book. ❤

I was on this journey with Beccs and Lucas from the beginning. In thirteen years, your heart was ripped from your chest so hard, that only Lucas could help us build it back together.

Becc's story felt so personal to me. Seeing it continuing with the healing they all desperately need warms my heart.

I was hurting a long with her, and crying my eyes out. It was a perfect glance into how happily ever afters should be. Working on healing from trauma and not just shoving it away in a drawer.

I loved this novella. D. Raven has done it again for me. And now the idea of the next book coming soon has me on eggshells I'm so excited.

Do yourself a favor and don't deprive yourself of this story. It's so much and more!

I have the pleasure of being on D. Ravens street team and received an ARC copy of First Christmas. I absolutely loved Thirteen Years and could not get enough of Becks and Lucas’ story, so First Christmas made me so happy.

It was the perfect Christmas novella.

I still can’t wrap me head around D Raven being a new author. Her books are so well written, so detailed, that you would never know these were her first two to be written. Becks holds a special place in my heart, I relate to her in so many ways. And my heart broke at both how she felt, but also the way Lucas supports her throughout First Christmas.

10/10 recommend but be sure to have a box of tissues ready because you will cry 😭

Wow! After reading Thirteen Years, I yearned for more Lucas and Becks. First Christmas gave me everything I wanted! I wanted to know how Lucas and Becks handled loss and learning to navigate their new chapter. The love they have for one another, the insecurities Becks goes through, the constant questioning, I felt it all🥺 I love getting to watch Lucas be a dad to Nat, I love seeing snippets of Monica and the girls. Lucas’ Christmas present to Becks 🫠 I’d melt if my man did that for me! Lucas is every women’s dream man and I truly love their story!

I absolutely adored Lucas & Becks in Thirteen years so I was so excited to read more of them.

First Christmas starts after the first book, and lucas and becks are trying to heal from the events in Thirteen years, all while learning to live with one another as a engaged couple and also while trying to enjoy their first Christmas as a family with their daughter Nat.

This little novella was small but it was mighty! It had emotional moments, tough topics and spicy moments, along with moments they were super sweet all set around the magical time of Christmas!!

Highly recommended and I can’t wait to read more in this series.

I absolutely love this book. It is a novella and a quick read! I love Beck's and Lucas. They are just the absolute best couple. They are couple goals! If you haven't read Thirteen Years read it in order to know what's going on in this book. The spice is🔥🔥. It is Christmas time and Lucas and Becks are so happy. However Becks still has some demons to work through and Lucas is always there to catch her when she needs support. She's so used to doing everything by herself for so long that it is hard for her to ask for help. This book is 5 stars easily for me! Just like Thirteen Years it always has me in my feels. D. Raven is amazing and I can't wait to see what she has next!

PAUSE IF YOU DIDN"T READ 13 YEARS

No really, you need to read 13 years! This novella is a beautiful in between - icing on the cake behavior. I can even add it as - read it before the epilogue of 13 years? I mean the emotional impact is there. The found family. The trials of emotional growth and talking about big emotions and feelings? yeah it's a riot, my heart is full and I am glad to be on this roller coaster and ready for the next chapter....so get your water bottles and get cozy cause holy emotions, my face hurts and chest warm and fuzzy....

This is going be a perfect reread...if the holidays are little extra heavy…especially for first Christmases

🎄First Christmas by D. Raven🎄
Finding Freedom Book 2 - Christmas Novella
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟
🌶🌶🌶

This Novella follows Beck, Lucas, Nat, and their friends and family in their First Christmas after the events of Thirteen Years.

With the monsters slain will they be able to live their happily ever after, or will the differences and pain prove too much to bare?

I laughed, cried, rolled my eyes, and swooned in this perfect "what happens after happily ever after" more real life peek into their First Holiday season as a family.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶🌶
This is D. Raven’s second book and the second in this series. After book one, I was definitely looking forward to more Lucas & Becks, and this Christmas novella did not disappoint! I think most people can understand how Becks feels…she’s got everything she wants; a safe home, a well adjusted daughter who’s happy, a best friend how ador4s her and her daughter and a fiance who loves her more than life. Despite how well everything is going she can’t shake the feeling that she’s not enough amd those she loves will eventually decide she’s not worth it and walk away.
