I had a hard time relating to this book. One of the biases of my review is likely based on that disappointment. Most of the writers are north east Asian and the stories are a mix of funny, heart warming, and some muddled ones that is usual for anthologies. But it lacks the pointedness that drives emotions, pain, joy, confusion home of other cultural anthologies. (Again, it may be that I myself had a hard time relating to this book since I am not only half Asian, but half South East Asian AND Latina. All those feelings of exclusion to an assumed/desired entitlement written by many mixed Asian and White American writers is mostly lost to me.)
A collection of stories. I know this sounds racist. But still, it's really good. And I managed to finish 1/3 of the book at the swim meet, but whatevs :)
