Valkyrie Slumbering

Rate this book
After the murder of her father, Kyra's heart is consumed by the need for revenge. The hunt is all that matters. But a chance crossing of paths with the alluring and mysterious Grim threatens to derail her focus and her quest. Something about him draws her in, melts her walls, and speeds her heart. Like her, he is half Alfhiem, but it's more than that. He's funny, considerate, and treats her as an equal even in battle, something most of the Vikings of her native homeland would never do.

Steamy nights is one thing, but Kyra can't allow her heart to become wrapped up with anyone, not until she finds and kills the man who murdered her father. Traveling across the countryside with Grim, though, challenges her resolve in more ways than she thought possible. She still hungers for the hunt but that hunger begins to dim in comparison to the one that grows inside her for Grim.

Creatures that could only be from the legendary land of Midgard interrupt their hunt again and again, creatures that shouldn't exist in this realm. Soon it becomes unclear whether or not Kyra and Grim are the hunters, or the hunted. But who would hunt them, and why?

Contains explicit sex.

With all the alluring creatures available in the fantasy genre, there is no end to the inspiration that keeps my muse up at night. My recipe: Start with choice characters, marinate in fantasy (any of the delicious sub-genres will do) add a heavy dash of romance, and mix in a generous portion of hot and heavy throughout the cooking cycle.

I've been writing for many years and have multiple books published with a different small press under a pseudonym (a girl's gotta have her secrets). My first erotic fantasy novella, Valkyrie Slumbering, releases in the spring of 2013 and my the sequel, Valkyrie Awakening, releases in the fall of 2013 both are with Inferno Publishing.

Steamy nights in ancient Iceland, a search for vengeance, and creatures from Midgard complicating the whole matter, what's not to love?! But then, I'm the author, so I'm biased. ;) Rich in Viking lore, this fantasy novella will appeal to those who enjoy romance, fantasy, and erotica.

For adult audiences only.

I was given this book by the author for review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book with all the mystical creatures and really enjoyed Grim and Kyra’s romance. They were so good together. The story was well written and kept me turning the pages, and, it is a very erotic romance. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Wow.

I really liked this story. The characters are rich and I applaud the author's imagination. She created a completely new world with a classic, old-world style. I might just have to take a break from my contemporary reads again for a while.

The only thing I disliked about this story is that I have to wait for the next one!!!

Enjoyable read.

Thanks L. ;)

Valkyrie Slumbering follows a strong and determined woman named Kyra. Kyra is half human/half-elf and some people don't take to kindly of her kind. This is why she is on the hunt. Someone killed her father and she is out for revenge. While on her mission, she meets a half-human/half-elf man named Grim. They have an instant connection and can't seem to stay away from each other. Together, they travel to go to a contest thrown by the king. The only people that would go are criminals and Kyra believes that is the perfect place to find the man she has been searching for. While heading to the contest, not only are Kyra and Grim growing closer, but they soon uncover they have quite a few things in common. But their connection may have big and dangerous results.

My goodness what a sexy read. It will definitely have you panting. I loved our main characters Grim and Kyra. Kyra is a very strong woman. She is quite a badass in this book and it was a lot of fun seeing her take down all the big bad guys. It was awesome. Grim was a badass as well too and insanely sexy. The sex scenes were quite racy between them. The language may a bit for some people, but it wasn't too racy.

I liked this story a lot. I loved all the Nordic folklore that was thrown into the story. I loved how it related to Kyra and Grim. The story was a lot more action packed than I thought it would be and made me enjoy the book even more. I love the manhunt and where it ended up. The ending was quite bittersweet, but there is more and I am dying for it.

I recommend this read for those who want a quick, sexy, and exciting read. It is full of Nordic legends, very steamy scenes, and action. The story is well written and well put together. I am very excited for the next book. Definitely go and check this out.
