She’s off limits, desperately needed by the company.

But I need her too.

Rhett
My hookup with a nameless chick was supposed to ease my mind. Instead, she's taken up every single thought.

Work is something I’ve always taken seriously. One of the biggest rules? Never date an employee. Ever. Which is easy when I never date at all. But when my new city girl employee happens to be the one woman I can’t stop thinking about, things get interesting.

Especially considering she’s living with me.

Chiseling my hardened emotions away with her sunshine spirit, there’s something about Tori Lawson I can’t push away, no matter how much I need to.

Tori
I shouldn’t have signed the contract at eighteen tying my fate and trust fund to a business deal.

Every day feels like a ticking time bomb, my freedom slowly fading away.

But when I take a job in the small town, Beechwood Falls, a fully tattooed, southern grump is the man who makes me feel like I have forever. Except Rhett Michaels takes his responsibilities and company far too seriously.

There’s only… several problems. First, I’ve been in his bed before. Second, I’m living with him. Third—and possibly the biggest—he signs my paychecks.

BUILT BY DESIGN is book two in the Beechwood Falls series by Jenna Lockwood. A standalone filled with spice and angst, this dual POV delivers a sizzling HEA.

ARC review

This was so cute. I loved the characters, both principal and secundary and the whole town.
Rhett was afraid to open up his heart because he felt so divided between his family and his job. He felt like a person to love and a family of his own would be pulling him in too many directions. Tori made him see that was not the case. She showed him love and how to fight for the people you love.
Tori was awesome. The way she stood to her parents and didn't let them dictate her life was admirable. She deserved more and she went and found it.
I loved them together and the love they had for each other. Neither of them wanted to give the other up and they both were willing to fight for each other no matter what, which they did so well

2.5 - This is the second book in the Beachwood Falls series. It's a one-night stand, boss/employee, small town romance. It was shaping up to be a 4 star forget, but then 77% happened. I almost DNF'd it right then and there, but I had made it that far so I decided to continue hoping the ending would redeem the bullshit. Guess what? It didn't. It only continued to get worse.

At 77% the FMC finally decides now is the time to divulge the secret she's been keeping the whole book after the MMC opens up to her and is vulnerable about his feelings. Of course that is the perfect time to drop the bomb that she has a marriage contract with her gay best friend, then has the audacity to get upset at the MMC for not responding to this information in the way she wanted him to. I'm sorry, say what?! Then she proceeds to play the victim card - no, stop. GTFO. You fucked up - own it.

But instead of apologizing for keeping such a huge secret and then reacting poorly once the MMC knew the truth, we get the FMC trying to make the MMC jealous by dancing with someone else right in front of him. Then after her night of dancing she decides she needs a girls night, which fine, but then proceeds to ask her friends if she made a mistake by keeping the secret for so long and do you know what they say? Of course you didn't make a mistake. OHHHH, so you're ALL shitty people? Got it. Then to top it all off she ends up getting a ride back home (which is also the MMC's home) from the guy she tried to make the MMC jealous with the night before. GIRL BYE.

Whether it's fair or not, FMC's are who make or break the book for me. This selfish AF one broke it. She herself is on the list.

4,5 ⭐️🌟

I received this book as an eARC in exchange for a honest review.

When Tori takes a job in the small town, Beechwood Falls, the fully tattooed, southern grump Rhett is the man who makes her feel like she have forever.

Tori is lovely and cheerful, her cheerfulness is contagious while reading. Especially considering her parents and the situation she is in.
Rhett seems to be a player, but it doesn't feel that way once Tori comes to Beechwood Falls and she comes to live with him (and works for him and Ian). It's the little thoughtful things he does, but also how he treats his family and how he takes care of his father. Rhett is afraid of bonding more than anything, especially because of his father and mother. He just doesn't see a future on the farm, with a wife and children, for himself….. and then there’s Tori. The way she interacts with Rhett's parents, she just is. Well okay, Rhett and Tori are made for each other.

I really enjoyed this story so much, in the beginning they try to ignore their feelings and trying not give in to it. You just feel the tension building with each page and then there is the “hammer scene”.... from there on there is just no turning back and wow what a story it becomes. I couldn't stop reading, it was fun, it was emotional, it was loving and then the tension towards the end..... would Tori and Oliver succeed.

The bond between Rhett and his father was so beautifully portrayed at the end of the book and then you have Tori's parents..... I found them terrible. How can you do that to your child. That is why I find it so special how Tori still believes in love. She not only finds love with Rhett, but also in her new friendship with Savannah and Emery.

I enjoyed the side characters so much, Savannah and Tyler, Ian and Emery (I am definitely going to read Admittedly for Me), so I also hoping for a book about Savannah and Tyler. I liked Savannah immediately, just like Tori. But also Oliver, am so curious how it goes with him. The ending was so quick and you do read something about how it is going, but the ending could have been a little more extended for me.
Am grateful for the bonus chapter though and I hope it will be included into the book, maybe a little more detailed.... because by the end of the book I just wasn't ready to say goodbye to Tori and Rhett and Beechwood Falls.

I really recommend this book, especially if you like smalltown romances. This was the first book I have read from this author and her writing style is good and pleasant. The smut was also really good.
I will definitely be reading other books by this author.

I seriously couldn’t get enough of these two!! I was hooked right away!! I love when a good book just sucks you in and makes you feel a large range of emotions. I laughed, I cried, I got angry and just grinning at my tablet like darn fool.

Love Rhett and Tori so much!! Seeing the tension and heat between them is 🔥. They are so great together and I’m so happy to see these two happy!!

I can’t stand her mom!! She is a total b-word.

Also love the roaster and its name 🤣🤣

Jenna Lockwood’s second book in her Beechwood Falls series, Built by Design, perfects the irresistible mix of tension, charm, and heart, blending into a captivating romance. Tori, a no-nonsense city girl finds herself in the unlikeliest of places—on a ranch, working for a gruff yet handsome boss, Rhett. The slow-burn romance is laced with fast-paced, witty banter and the boss x employee dynamic creates a delicious sense of forbidden attraction, amplified by the fact they’re forced to be housemates.

With a perfect blend of humor, heart, and heat, this a romance keeps you hooked from start to finish, balancing the slow build of tension with the delightful payoff of their romance.

I received this book as an arc from the author and my thoughts are my own!
I am in love!! Well after reading this I really really want to be. This was amazing. From start to finish. I have really really bad bang-xiety (fear that the characters won’t get jiggy) but these two surely did. From chapter one with the flashbacks! I loved both characters and how they just fit together so nicely. I couldn’t stand her parents and I’m happy she stood 10 toes on cutting they hip off! Tori deserved the love that Rhett gave. She’s such a bright and pure soul.
Now Mr. Rhett (I will French kiss that 🐱) Micheals!! This man is so dreamy!! From the dirty mouth to the way he was so good to her. There was a moment when he was being a bit dickish but he was hurt (so his actions made sense to me!!) but he rectified that pronto. He’s such a good person when it comes to his friendships and family! I couldn’t wait for her to start loving him so he could feel it! Ughhhhhh
The baby goat!! Sweet little moo-moo I wished she made more appearances but it was so sweet and heart felt. If you’re looking for a book with delicious spice, heartfelt relationships and an easy going pace that don’t make you feel like the story is dragging on forever then definitely read this! I can’t wait to read more books in this series.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! Jenna honestly has me obsessed with this small town series!!
Rhett and Tori were EVERYTHING!

Rhett owns a construction company with his best friend Ian and they need a designer so they hire Tori.

What Rhett doesn't realise is that his new hire is also the woman he had a one night stand with who he can't stop thinking about.

Tori is also surprised and it's so hard for them to keep things professional especially considering she is moving into his place as well.

I loveeeed so many things about this book. The sweetest things Rhett did for Tori like the lemon water!! Also I loved Tori helping him out on the farm! So so cute!

THE SPICE!!! WAS DELICIOUS!!!

I loved that Tori was his strength when it came to dealing with his father's Alzheimer's.

We also do not like Tori's mum - that is all lol

Overall, another million billion star read from Jenna!

So excited for Tyler and Savannah's story next!!!

Thank you Jenna for kindly sending me an arc to read and review. This review is my own honest opinion on the book :)

I love Rhett! He's one of those guys that are rough around the edges that once you get to know him is a big softie, the perfect golden retriever, he just wants to focus on work & taking care of his parents so he doesn't have time to be in a relationship. Tori on the other side is a city girl looking for a break from her current life. A life of privilege she hasn’t been happy about. I loved Rhett & Tory, their banter was too funny. He is the messy one & she is the perfeccionist with a touch of sass, but they complement each other so well. Their chemistry was amazing!! This honestly was a very cute read, you can read it as a standalone but I would definitely recommend reading book one so you can meet & understand the characters better. I loved how the author brought some of the scenes of the first book from another POV. The Easter eggs were on point. Totally recommend it!

Built by design ARC read,

Personal review 📖

5/5 stars

( Spoiler free )

I’ve never read anything by Jenna Blackwood and I was really excited to read Tori and Rhett’s story. I knew from the blurb that I wanted to give it a try.

I think deep down we all have a little Tori in us, the hard worker, with often at times difficult parents. That no matter how hard you work to prove yourself, it just is never enough.

And then along comes a Rhett, that makes you see things in a different prospective. Rhett himself has his own… I wouldn’t say flaws, more like fears and I think deep down we can all somewhat relate to it. Because it can be scary when the circumstances are like his.

I loved reading their story. It was beautifully written and every city girl who secretly loves the countrysides dream.

3.5 stars, Super cute, small town, country romance. I loved the characters of Rhett and Tori so much, and I loved the supporting characters as well. This is the second book in the Beechwood Falls series, and while I didn’t read the first book and so believe you can read this book as a standalone, I have a feeling it would be super satisfying to read the whole series so you get the stories of all of the supporting characters as well!
The book to me gave sweet hallmark movie vibes. The conflict in the book wasn’t too frustrating which I enjoyed. I do think the plot wasn’t as strong in some areas, and seemed a bit choppy at times. I think it can be difficult to use fluid and descriptive language to really make a story smooth, so I feel there was a bit of that lacking from this book.
Overall, I’m happy I read it and I recommend it if you are looking for an easy, sweet, small town romance!

WOW! i think this is a BIG contender to my favorite read of the year!

this book sucked me in from the very the very beginning! it made me laugh, cry, want to yell, and all around swoon at the romance of Rhett and Tori.

wow what a mean Rhett is. a true southern gentleman, where can i find mine? the little things he does is what made me swoon.

Tori is a STRONG character and deserved all the love she got. she’s been through so much but still had such a positive outlook on life.

the tension between these two was undeniable and I was reading faster and faster waiting for these to get together!
they’re now my babies!
also moo-moo was the cutest gah! 😫

i will definitely be reading more books by Jenna because her writing is phenomenal!

A no names allowed hook up with no strings attached ends up as fated mates but he’s also her boss!!! …. This book takes you through a lot of family trauma healing as well as dealing with declining parents and a beautiful ranch. The found family aspect was great! The spice was spicy.
All around a decent read.

Arc Review

I loved this book, more so than the first in the series!

I was INVESTED with Rhett and Tori.
Reading the first was great but it also already helped build the tension for the second so I would recommend reading it first if you can as they are side characters.

Rhett
He’s protective, dominating, sweet, funny and all man.
I was obsessed he has a filthy mouth on him but has the actions to back himself up!

Tori
She is so thoughtful, sassy, kind and big hearted I loved her character!
She would always go out her way for anyone but she was still a bad ass bitch when needed and I loved that for her.

If you love small town romance please read this series, below are some highlights I loved!!

This is a book that will grab you and hold on. It evokes a lot of emotions, from frustration to laughter. Rhett and Tori are meant for each other; they just need to get out of their heads.

Tori comes from privilege but is miserable; she has ideas and dreams. Moving to the small town of Beechwood Falls is her opportunity to do it her way. Rhett has a full plate, and no room for relationships, plus Tori is off-limits. Will they give in to the attraction?

It's an easy read, a great story, and great banter. I am looking forward to more.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

great second story

This is my second book by this author, and I thought that Built By Design was overall a very good book. This author really has a way with words. I think that she does a tremendous job with her storytelling ability and it really pulls you in to what’s going on. I found myself laughing, crying, And disliking the mother very much. I enjoy how each of her characters have something they are dealing with that is currently happening in the real world as well as they are each kind of broken. I enjoy how this author shows you all of the struggles that each character goes through and how much each character wants to change their lives while not knowing if they actually deserve to have a better life.

I find it refreshing that so far none of these stories have any outside romantic interests, trying to break them up, there’s no cheating, and each story is really about a couple trying to find their way to each other and overcome what each of them are dealing with separately to be a better person. It also pleases me that there is a happy ending to each story.

The only aspect of the stories that I am once again not enjoying is probably just a personal choice. There are some authors who need to do a lot of “filler “type of writing because in my opinion they just aren’t that talented. This particular author, however, I have found myself completely Drawn to and engulfed in everything she writes. Therefore, the only thing I’m not enjoying is the detailed and explicit intimate scenes. I think that this author is one of the best authors I’ve encountered in quite a while. She just doesn’t need that much in the books. I feel in my opinion that she could convey, great beautiful semi detailed intimate scenes that would fall right into the book naturally. Some of the current scenes don’t feel natural to her brilliant writing style. I am sure that I am in the minority with this subject, but I easily could have rated the story a five without the above. I think that intimacy is a very important aspect of a love story and that it 100% belongs in books I just think there is a thin line between sexy, hot, and overdone. I think that this author is just truly special in her writing style.

I loved this book, even more so than the first one, and that one was amazing, too! Rhett and Tori just had this easy chemistry, and their banter was top-notch! They meet at a convention and have an amazing night together. They don’t exchange names or numbers, but both think they missed an opportunity for more and can’t stop thinking about each other. Tori takes a design job across the country, to a place she visited as a kid, and lo and behold, her new boss is none other than Rhett. Talk about fate! Rhett is flabbergasted, and frankly, kind of upset she now works for him and can’t pursue anything. And the cherry on top: she lives in his guest house temporarily! Phew, talk about lots of roadblocks (haha). They decide to be friends, and Tori likes helping on the ranch with the animals. There is a ton of tension between them because they both think of the night they shared, often, and how no one can seem to compare. Both are under a lot of pressure for different reasons. Rhett has taken on a lot. Aside from owning a construction company with his best friend Ian, he has taken on the responsibility of his family’s ranch and is trying to find a way to bring it back to its former glory. His father also has some health issues that stress Rhett out. Basically, he’s running ragged and thinks he must do it all. Tori, on the other hand, has lots of pressure from her awful parents (seriously, they are SO awful) and has found herself in a bit of a pickle. She has never been good enough for her parents but has finally found herself in Beechwood Falls and wants to stay far away from her parents. Tori and Rhett try their best to navigate all the stress they are under, and all of a sudden, the tension snaps! They are the epitome of soulmates, but it takes them a little while to realize it, especially Rhett. I loved how carefree Tori tried to be with all the pressure she was under. She stayed upbeat and positive as best as she could. Rhett let loose around Tori and showed her his vulnerable side a time or two. I could read about these two all day! I just loved them!

My Review:

This book Is the 2nd one in the Beechwood Falls Series. It focuses on Rhett & Tori's story.
I loved this book because it's not the typical country boy & city girl where city girl has a hard time adapting to farm life. Loved that Tori was very adaptable to the country life and she thrived doing it... Watching Rhett slowly fall in love with Tori was 😍😍😍. Honestly the spice in this book was really good.. That Hammer scene was 🔥🔥... let me leave it at that!!! Loved this book & would definitely recommend it.. Can't wait for Tyler & Savannah's story!!!

This book was easily a 5 star read for me. I was pulled in from the start of this book and read it in one sitting. When I say this book has heart, banter, care taking and spice I mean it. I love a strong and sassy FMC and we get that with Tori for sure.

Rhett is a hard worker and a big family man. He is taking on his ranch responsibilities as well as his construction business. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders and the last thing he is looking for is a relationship. But what happens when the designer he and Ian hired turns out to be the one night stand he can’t get off his mind?

Tori is a highly desired designer for the rich and famous but when a job opportunity takes her back to Beechwood Falls she jumps on it. All Tori wants is a normal life and to get out from under her parents claws and contract. But when she shows up on the ranch she will be living at the last person she expected to see is her “Country Boy”.

I absolutely loved Tori and Rhett together. The words that came out of Tori’s mouth with Rhett to get under his skin was the absolute best and had me laughing so hard. Our girl knew exactly what she was doing and I was here for all of it! Tori, despite the sh*t parents she has…is the absolute best human. She is so kind hearted and when it came to Rhett’s dad I loved seeing her with him and how she helped boost his confidence when his family was struggling with his diagnosis. The third act in this book was handled so wonderfully and I was so happy when Rhett pulled his head out of his ass and went for the grand gesture to get his woman back it was everything Tori deserved and wanted.

I could go on and on about this book because I loved it that much! I will just leave it at if you love a small town, forced proximity, banter and spicy romance this is the book for you!

Thank you to Luna Literacy and Jenna Lockwood for the arc of this book.

let me tell you, I am still swooning! This is the second book in the Beechwood Falls series, but it totally works as a standalone. Rhett Michaels – tattooed, southern, and totally grumpy – stole my heart. The chemistry between him and Tori was off the charts from the very beginning. Their "we've hooked up before, now I’m working for you" dynamic had me hooked from page one.

Rhett is such a gruff, no-nonsense guy who takes his job seriously, and his whole “no dating employees” rule added to the tension. But Tori, with her bright and free-spirited energy, broke down his walls in the most deliciously slow-burn way. Watching him struggle to keep his distance while also having her live in his house? Perfection.

I loved Tori’s determination to carve out her own life and stand up to her controlling parents. Honestly, the way she handled herself, especially with Rhett, made me cheer for her so hard. And Rhett? Yes, he’s a grump, but his soft side – especially when it came to his family – melted me. The bond with his father was such a sweet, emotional layer to the story.

Now, the first-person dual POV? It was great because we got to see both of their thoughts and inner struggles, but I’ll admit there were times when it felt a little too back-and-forth for my liking. That said, the way the story built up the tension between them, especially leading up to that scene with the hammer (you’ll know it when you read it!), made up for everything. The heat and the emotions were real.

Overall, Built by Design gave me exactly what I was looking for: a heartfelt, angsty, small-town romance with characters I didn’t want to leave behind. Rhett and Tori’s story is full of sweetness, spice, and emotional depth, and I’m already eyeing the rest of the series because I NEED more Beechwood Falls in my life.

If you love a good grumpy/sunshine romance with a dash of workplace tension and plenty of feels, this one’s for you!

Jenna Lockwood’s Built by Design, the second book in her Beechwood Falls series, masterfully combines tension, charm, and heartfelt moments into an unforgettable romance. This story follows Tori, a no-nonsense city girl, who unexpectedly finds herself working on a ranch under the employment of the gruff yet irresistibly handsome Rhett. Their slow-burn romance is electrified by sharp, witty banter and a tantalizing boss-employee dynamic, all the more intense as they navigate being housemates.

With humor, heart, and a dash of heat, this book captures you from the very first page. The gradual build of tension between Tori and Rhett makes the payoff of their romance deeply satisfying. As someone who’s enjoyed Jenna Lockwood’s work before, I can confidently say this story showcases her incredible storytelling ability. She draws you into the lives of her characters, their struggles, and their triumphs in a way that feels authentic and emotional.

I laughed, teared up, and found myself actively rooting against the meddlesome mother—a testament to how vividly the author crafts her characters. Each one feels real, flawed, and relatable, with struggles that mirror challenges people face in the real world. What makes this series stand out is how Jenna Lockwood focuses on characters who are broken in some way but determined to find healing and happiness.

One of the most refreshing aspects of this book is its focus on the couple’s journey without unnecessary distractions—no love triangles, no cheating, just two people learning to overcome their own demons to create something beautiful together. And yes, there’s a happy ending that feels well-earned.

Whether it’s Tori’s city grit clashing with Rhett’s rancher resolve or the undercurrent of longing simmering between them, this book has everything you could want in a romance. It’s witty, heartfelt, and impossible to put down—a perfect addition to the Beechwood Falls series!

"I don't think it's simply a sign that I'm meant to be here, but that I'm meant to be with Rhett. If only he could see it the same."

Rhett and Tori are for certain meant to be together. Fate, destiny, whatever you want to call it stepped in for the first time when she was nine and then it happened two more times! There is no denying the draw to each other is strong.

Rhett didn't know what was about to hit him when he agrees to let the new designer at his company room at his ranch. In my eyes he is the perfect man....loves his mama and dad, takes care of those he loves, puts himself last, and is so caring when a woman most needs it most (IYKYK).

Tori, the LA city girl, fits into Rhett's world so perfectly. She is meant for the country/farm/ranch life. The way that she is able to get Rhett to open up just by being who she is which is this person full of positivity. She is so good for him and she meshes so well with his family and friends instantly.

Even though there was all this super thick tension between them they slide right into this comfy cozy routine right away and I think that is part of what I loved so much. Everything is effortless with them, well other than trying to keep the attraction at bay! Of course it was only a matter of time before that became a mega fail and what a mega fail it was. I am surprised the fire department wasn't called...lol!

These two just took the top spot for me amongst Ms. Lockwood's couples (sorry Max). They are a fun couple and for the most part everything just came so easy for them other than one little blip but that was needed in order for them to get where they go!

Ms. Lockwood did a fantastic job setting up the story for Tyler and Savannah (whenever that happens). They were mentioned so many times I need it now!

Imagine having the most memorable one night stand of your life, it was so good you can’t stop thinking about it. But you didn’t exchanged names or any other information so you can’t find him again. And then imagine you show up to your new dream job as a designer in a growing construction business to find out one of your new bosses is none other than your one night stand?!

That is exactly the position Tori finds herself in! Not only that but she will be living on Rhett’s property as well. Cue all of the incredible tension!

Rhett is a bit of a playboy, so he has been given strict instructions from his business partner that Tori is off limits. Rhett has a lot going on, he has to take care of the family ranch, help his father whose Parkinson’s symptoms are getting worse, and deal with his growing construction business, the last thing he needs is another complication in the form of a relationship.

Tori is leaving behind a lucrative position with her family business. She is trading in city life for the country. She desperately wants to find her place and find someone who loves her and is willing to fight for her. But her parents have other plans for her life!

Read this if you like:
🛠️ workplace romance
🛠️ boss/employee
🛠️ all of the tension
🛠️ forced proximity
🛠️ spicy books 🔥
🛠️ reformed playboy
🛠️ baby goats

I loved that Rhett and Tori kept going right up to the line so many times before Rhett finally gave in to what he truly wanted! These two had the weight of the world on their shoulders and they truly needed someone to love them and take care of them and they found that in each other. Rhett had to realize he was capable of prioritizing a relationship with the right person and Tori had to realize she didn’t need to be perfect in order to be loved.

If you like spicy, small town romances you should give this one a try!

This is book 2 in Jenna Lockwood's Beechwood Falls Series. It's an idealic small town where no one locks their doors and everyone knows everyone's business.

Tori is looking to escape the expectations put on her by her parents, who are more like her bosses than anything. So she takes a design contract with a small up and coming construction company in the little town of Beechwood Falls, the one place she has happy memories of her childhood.

Rhett is just trying to keep his head above water. With his construction business, he's building up with his best friend, running his family's ranch, and his father's health issues he doesn't have time for much else. When the company hires a designer for an upcoming project, Rhett agrees to house her on his ranch.

But what our mcs don't know is that they've met a few weeks before at a design conference where there they may or may not have hooked up... all night long. Now they have to fight the chemistry that is still very much between them and get the job done!

This was a really fun read! A couple of times, I felt like I wanted more from a situation, not those ones 😉. But for example, a character comes back into town and enlists Rhett to help pull off a surprise for his business partner and we see him and Tori working on it, but dont get to see the surprise, the character is just added in a few chapters later.

I would recommend this if you love forbidden workplace romance, an fmc who is escaping the big city hustle, grumpy cowboys, a full cast of characters who really care for each other. While the Beechwood Falls Series is interconnected standalones, I do think it would be beneficial to read book 1 before jumping into Built By Design. It helps get you familiar with the big cast of characters and really sets the mood for what's going on in the town.

✨ ARC Review ✨

Built by Design by Jenna Lockwood
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you to the author @jennalockwood.author for the eARC opportunity in exchange for my honest review!

For once, I didn't know where to begin.
I loved this story so much! From the get go Rhett and Tori have such a witty banter and an addictive chemistry.

Tori is trying to escape the city, and she longs for the country life. She takes a job across the country, to a place that she remembers making her happy once long ago.

Rhett is a country boy through and through. Besides his ranch, he's helping his parents out and co-owns a construction company.

Speaking of that construction company, they just hired an out of state designer and the other owner has made sure Rhett knows no matter what, she is off limits.

You get to explore both the MCs' personal lives and watch them grow individually as people, as well as how to navigate together being house mates and co-workers.

I've already checked this one as a book to reread in the future - that's how much I loved it!

After reading Tori & Rhett's story I'm sure of 2 things:
- everyone needs a BFF like Tori
- I'm even more convinced I need goats

BUILT BY DESIGN is book two in the Beechwood Falls series by Jenna Lockwood.
This can be read as a standalone, but it'll leave you wanting more of Beechwood Falls and the people who live there.

I loved reading Built By Design so much. It was such a wonderful book. I fell right in love with the plot and the characters straight away and did not expect to be able to love this series anymore. This is Book 2 in the Beechwood Falls Series by Jenna, and wow, if I thought book 1 was amazing, I don't know how I would describe this one.

The book follows Rhett who comes home only to find that his new designer for his business happens to be his one night stand from a month ago I think that he could not forget even though he never knew her name, that being Tori. I loved Tori so much she is the definition of one hot independent woman, she has been through so much with her family and even after she moves away from them they are still so expectant of her all for the sake of making them more money.

Even though Rhett and Tori both tried their best to stay away from each other despite living together and resisting the temptation of repeating that one night, the chemistry between them drew them closer to one another over time. I absolutely lived for even the teasing of them being together. They definitely had sexual chemistry, that is for sure.

I could not put this book down. All the discoveries that we made in this book surrounding the past made every page so good to read. This story blew me away and all I want is more of this pair, I loved how kind both of them were to one another but also to their friends and Rhett's family, I loved reading those scenes. I can't wait to see more of this couple and to see how much other readers love this book, so please give this book a go, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Summary:

Tori just wants to be in control of her life and not held to a contract she was forced to sign at 18. “Country Boy” a guy she had a one-night stand with showed her that she didn’t want to be content anymore. Beechwood Falls is the place of her only happy childhood memory. It fate that when she wants a fresh start a job opening comes available in Beechwood Falls.
Rhett can’t stop thinking about “City Girl”. His friend agrees to try and track her down. He is now in charge of the family ranch as his dad’s health gets worse and he is starting the construction company. The last thing he needs is the new designer they hired coming in and turning his life upside down.

My thoughts:

I loved Rhett and Tori’s story. Their banter was well written and just helped the story move. I liked how there have been connections between them showing their love has been in the making since she was 9. Rhett grew throughout the book with the help of Tori, his dad and his friends. It maturity that he didn’t in his first few chapters.

I know Rhett’s dad was the focus of the story but I like how the author towards the end showed his dad coming to terms with his new life. His dad has Parkinson’s disease and struggled with accepting his life had to change.

I really enjoyed Ian and Emery in Admittedly For Me, Rhett and Tori in Built By Design and look forward to Savannah and Tyler’s story.

thank you @jennalockwood.author for allowing me to receive another ARC and to continue with the Beechwood Falls series 😍

Built by Design by Jenna Lockwood 4.5/5 ⭐️

Tori was never supposed to see country boy again. A one night stand with a man whose name she didn’t even know. What happens when that man turns out to be her boss and the man she will be living with for the foreseeable future. Rhett couldn’t get sweet tea off his mind since that night. Now she’s standing in front of him as her new employee and roommate. Will he be able to keep things professional in order to complete this new construction project they so desperately need.

There was something so simple yet heartwarming about this book. I mean that as a huge compliment! I really enjoyed the way the author wrote Tori and Rhett’s love in way that was so extraordinary but relatable to readers. I often find romance novels more relatable and enjoyable when the author shows the daily grind of love when navigating through family drama, work, fears and emotions. This is exactly what this book is. I loved how caring and thoughtful Tori was to everyone. Also how Rhett silently helped Tori find her true self without interfering or overstepping. The spice was spicing, It was well balanced with the plot not too much but not too little. My only criticism and reasoning for not eating it 5 stars is there were certain aspects of the plot that I don’t want to mention for spoilers reasons that were glossed over and I feel like it would have added more to the story if it was a bigger part of the plot. I can’t wait for more books in this series and loved it overall.

Thankyou for the ARC Jenna Lockwood!!!
My favsss-
“Do what your boss says, and come like a good girl.”
“ We all have fears, Rhett. Just some are more visible than others.”
“You are worth consuming a guy’s every thought.”

The story began with a 'One-night stand, no strings, no name,' but that one night was all it took to etch their thoughts into each other's minds.

Rhett Michaels, a rugged, tattooed guy renowned for his casual hookups, couldn't shake the memory of the city girl he encountered that fateful night. Tori (Victoria Marie Lawson), also known as his Sweet Tea, is a city girl tired of her controlled upper-class life and seeking freedom. Unbeknownst to her, she takes a job in Beechwood Falls only to discover that her boss is none other than 'the country guy' she can't seem to forget.

Though bound by professional obligations, Rhett and Tori feel an undeniable attraction, tension, and intense chemistry whenever they're near each other. Rhett is considerate and loving, but his commitment to family holds him back from relationships. Despite this, he checks off all the boxes Tori has ever wanted in a partner, making her feel safe, cherished, and worth fighting for.

Their story is a mix of banter, friendship, spice, forbidden romance, and a slow burn.
Plus, she's got a mouth as foul as it gets, with Rhett being the lucky listener!

PS: It's my first ARC Review!!!!!
Thankyouuuu
