Take My Heart is book one in the My Favorite Band series by Lisa Suzanne. This is my first book by this author.
Dax Hunter is the lead singer of the band MFB. He is nearly twenty six years old. His four band mates are his best friends, his family. MFB is wildly popular in the San Diego area and are about to make it even bigger with their upcoming tour as front band for another famous band. Dax has been in two serious relationships, both ending with him being hurt. As a result, he lives the life of a rock star by drinking way too much and by sleeping with anything with legs.
Eight months prior, the band hired their first manager, Kylie Marshall, a very pretty young woman that Dax has been attracted to since the beginning. But the band made a pact, a “no bang rule.” She was hands off. They couldn’t take the chance and lose her.
With the band on the cusp of the biggest break of their careers, Kylie convinces Dax to audition for a reality dating show, Take My Heart. The money he would make if he’s chosen is huge as well as making his face, their band, a household name.
Okay, here’s the hard part. Kylie has watched Dax pretty much sleep his way through San Diego. But then, when he decides to be a part of this television show, a show that’s supposed to help him find love, his behavior actually gets worse. All while the cameras are on him. Kylie is always in the back of Dax’s mind, he knows he has feelings for her, stronger than he realized. Does this stop him from sleeping with the worst possible person he should have slept with, NO! Does it stop him from embarrassing himself on camera, NO! And of course, Kylie sees every single thing once the show is televised.
I have a pretty open mind in the books I read. But I just couldn’t justify Dax’s behavior. I couldn’t help but to feel mortified that Kylie was watching it all. I thought his actions were so immature and actually cringed a few times. He does finally figure things out of course and he and Kylie finally admit their feelings. But for me, the journey getting to that point was a rough one. The entire book is told from Dax’s point of view.

Another faithless loser.
I read an another book by this author recently, so I thought this would be a safe read. She kept the other man/other woman out if it. And defining no cheating. This one misses the mark. The “hero” knows that he is in love with another girl and instead of treating the reality show like the career opportunity it is, he makes out with random women, had sex with the host and gat a bathroom blowjob from another. On top of all of that, instead of having the balls to go after the woman he was “in love with”, he decides to kiss up to and try to have an actual connection with yet another woman! Thankfully, that one heard about the slutting around and dumped him (causing him to lose the reality show). So it was all pointless anyway. When he finally gets the balls to go after the girl he is “in love with” she is completely illogical, holds no grudges and admits that she has been in love with him the entire time. She tried to separate her job and feelings by trying to get him to do what was best for his career. He rewarded her for her loyalty by being a slut who didn’t even wait days between his conquest. Not sure if I’ll bother with the author again. The other book must have been the exception, not the rule. What a shame.

Boy do I love Lisa Suzanne's words and her rock star romances. This one was no different but I gotta admit - I had a love/hate relationship with Dax Hunter. There were a lot of times I wanted to shake him, I was screaming 'why' at my screen whenever his actions pissed me off and it happened plenty of times.
But, thankfully, there were more sides to him other than the playboy rock star image he was giving the world in the show. And I loved his other sides too much to actually hate the guy. My most favorite was a Dax in love - I felt so much for him for struggling with loving someone he shouldn't and couldn't have but I did love watching him love her and be all sentimental and sweet towards her. It definitely got my poor love addict heart going.
I LOVED the idea of the reality show, it was so fun and interesting and unlike anything I've read before. I loved it a lot, even though most of the things I hated about Dax happened on that show. It was a bit messed up but what reality tv show isn't? So you did great, Lisa. It was such an epic book, it kind of felt like I was watching the bachelor or bachelor pad sometimes.
If you're looking for an entertaining, romantic and epic rock star romance, look no further cuz this is the book for you! Oh and guess who makes an appearance..... VAIL! I died. I had missed my boys. Mark and Reese help Dax get the girl and it's so cute and romantic. I loved it all. And all of them.

Without a doubt, Lisa Suzanne has such a talent. I always light up with excitement when her latest rock star romance hits my kindle. Not Just Another Rock Star Romance is a story that just screams for a 5 star rating. This one was a bit different than her others, but I enjoyed it just as much. Maybe even more, especially with Vail making an appearance. I love my Vail boys!
Dax is the front man for the band MFB and he is pressured by his manager to take part in a dating reality show. Love is the last thing that he is looking for, but he agrees because he feels that it would be good publicity for the band. Not to mention, he has never been able to say no to Kylie. Now I wasn't real sure how I felt about Dax at first. More times than not, I found him to be very frustrating, but there was more to him that meets the eye.
As he goes on these different dates for the show, his thoughts always lead back to Kylie. He just can't seem to shake her from his mind, and ultimately discovers that deep down, he's in love with her. Unfortunately for him, she's off limits due to a no bang oath that he made with his bandmates. Will he be able to stay away from her or will the two of them end up together?
Thank you Lisa for this amazing story! You've outdone yourself once again. This is definitely not a book to be missed. It really captures your attention from the first page to the last with the hot chemistry and great character development.

Not Just Another Rock Star Romance is a fun rockstar romance. The story follows Dax, lead singer of MFB, an up and coming rock band.
Dax is pressured by his manager to take part in a dating reality show. He doesn't want to do it, love is the last thing he's looking for. But he agrees for the sole purpose to get publicity for the band. Also, he has never been able to say no to Kylie.
As Dax goes on these different dates for the show, he continuously keeps thinking about Kylie. He can't stop his thoughts for her. But unfortunately for him he can't do anything because of an oath he made with his bandmates. The question is, will Dax move on from what he feels for Kylie and give the women on the show a chance or will he confess his true feelings for her?
Not Just Another Rock Star Romance was an entertaining read. I liked the reality show aspect to it. And even though I questioned and cringed at some of Dax's actions, in my eyes I think he redeemed himself.

If the H didn’t keep reminding me in his POV ramblings who the h was I would have forgotten.
The plot and OW angst were great. But the book needed another 20-30k words devoted to on page time for H/h for me to even begin to believe in a HFN much less an HEA...they don’t even admit they might feel something for each other or have ANY kind of intimacy until 85%...then it’s all ILY and kissing...that’s a fucking problem. I have ZERO understanding of why this H/h is together or what they see in each other. He had better chemistry with the OW Eden he wanted to win the show with. He’s was certainly more forthcoming with personal info.
This could have been an AWESOME angsty trainwreck, the bones were more than there, but not enough threads of plot were picked up to make a complete story.

If watching the MC engage in sex acts as well as actual sex with other women while continuing to feel "guilty" about it when he sees the female lead ( I won't say romantic lead because it's just too much) but do it again with someone else the next day ad nauseam, then this book is for you. As for me, I made it to 63%, having been disgusted by around 30%. What a waste of time. Thank God I have KU and didn't waste money on this trash. I sound like such a prude writing this.. But it's truly that bad. Wish I could give it zero stars.

This was such a fun read! I don’t read a lot of rock star romances, but this one was great. I loved the story line, and it kept me entertained through the whole book. It has some twists and turns and some definite LOL moments!

Such a great read! Lisa has mastered the Rock Star romance genre and keeps me begging for more!

This book may be about a reality show, but Lisa added way more depth about the dangers and positivity that comes with being on a reality show thats entire premise is about finding love... Not to be vague, but its actually not just another reality show romance novel hehe!
I strongly suggest devouring Not Just Another Romance Novel first if you have the time before reading this juicy Rock Star Romance, BUT if not dive right in to this book!
If your new to this author and not sure where to begin or where to go after this Rock Star Romance, Lisa also writes AMAZING romance novels but her other Rock Stars are: A Little Like Destiny, Vintage, & The Power to Break. Happy Reading!

It’s taken me days to read this book and I had to make myself. I almost didn’t go back to finish.
The idea behind this book is what made me want to read it but then once I started I was bored. I was annoyed with the guys in the band and didn’t find any of them appealing. They were very immature.
You already know who Dax is going to end up with before you get half way in the book. It’s written so plainly for any reader to see. I love the idea behind a reality show but somewhere it missed the drama.
I didn’t like anyone in this book. It’s so harsh and I’m sorry. I’m not sure how anyone would want to be with Dax after everything.

This was such a phenomenal read! I love Lisa Suzanne's work and her rock star romances are so amazing. Not Just Another Rock Star Romance is fun, unique with an imaginative twist to your typical rock star story. I loved the idea behind this, it was like nothing I have read before.
Dax is a fascinating and complex character. I have to admit he drove me crazy at times and I actually wanted to slap him at times because of his poor choices and decisions! Saying that however, I actually really enjoyed reading how much he grows and changes throughout the story and we get to see different sides and facets to his character, his struggles and his sensitive and sweet side. I really felt so much for him with his struggles and his feelings towards Kylie. I absolutely loved watching him fall completely in love with her and be sentimental and lovely towards her.
I particularly adored seeing Mark and Reese in this book (one of my favourite book couples ever) and I always appreciate their helpfulness and guidance.
This is such a fun packed entertaining book. I found myself completely intrigued and transfixed by it all. It is so well-written and so clever with so much romance and heart in between all of the shenanigans of Reality TV!

This was my first Lisa Suzanne book. I enjoyed Dax and Kylie's story. Dax is a rock star, and Kylie is their PR/manager. He has always felt a pull towards her, but all the guys in the band took an oath, a no sleeping with Kylie oath because she's a great addition to the team, she's really good at her job. While, he feels something brewing with his feelings for Kylie, that doesn't stop him from being a eligible for one night stands etc. While I liked Dax's character, I also disliked him. Just because of the fact of him needing to screw anything and everything....UGH....
So, in order to get good press for the band, Kylie gets him a gig on a bachelor type show, finding love. He creates a mess on the show, he sees a disappointed Kylie, and vows to himself not to disappoint her again. He figures out his feelings, his inner battles, tries to push her out of his mind because he thinks feelings are reciprocated. I don't want to say too much BUT his confession....so freakin sweeet.......He made up for being a douche before....
It was a fun romance story. It was fun seeing what happens behind the scenes of a show...This story isn't your typical rock star romance. It brings in a different setting, good seeing such a good group of band members who are really each other's family. Enjoyed it.

The name (before the cover & title update) perfectly described the book. It isn’t the typical rock star romance; which is fine, but felt a bit off course for me. At 55% in, the story has moved slowly and has been hard for me to keep interested.
For one, The Bachelor-esque feel to the story isn’t my cup of tea. Though there were a few twists from the popular TV show, it was a bit similar and put me off a bit.
Unfortunately, the story nor characters were connecting with me and I had to put it on pause. In no way is there anything wrong with the story line or the characters, they were quite likable, but it just wasn’t speaking to me at this time. I’ll have to put this on pause to read at another time when I can be more receptive.

I really wanted to like Dax haha I'm still not sure if I do or not. I did feel sorry for Kylie - I mean they know they are in love with each other, but they purposefully do things to push each other away? Sounds about right, actually! IRL, people aren't perfect. They are not always 100% faithful to one person. They aren't always able to articulate their feelings. They do stupid stuff, especially to the ones they love. I can't fault Lisa for writing humans.
I love romance, but sometimes it's refreshing to read a story that isn't he falls first instalove touch her and die. Those guys are few and far between.

Well. . . This is your classic man whore story who claims to be in love with the female lead from the beginning while he continues to sleep with different woman throughout the book. But then gets jealous when he things she's spending time with another guy that's not him.
There is a story in there but for me it was ruined and overshadowed by a male lead I didn't like or root for.
Now I am not saying don't read this book, personally I couldn't get over my dislike for the male lead. The writing was very descriptive and the book is well written I just couldn't get over the rest of it. Others may feel differently.
Unfortunately it's a solid ⭐ from me and I'll be giving the rest of the series a miss.

4.5 Take My Heart stars
Holy hell, I freaking devoured this book! I can’t even tell you how much I missed reading Lisa Suzanne’s words. The last time I read a rock star romance from her, I fell hard. And this book was no different. Not Just Another Rock Star Romance brought out such fierce and strong emotions out of me, it kinda caught me off guard. I loved the fact that I had no idea where the story was taking me. Or the complete mystery on who this badass rock star, Dax Hunter, was going to end up with.
To be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of Dax in the beginning. He didn’t hold anything back—he did anything and everything he wanted to, regardless of how anyone else around him would feel. But he’s also the type of hero you warm up to the more you get to know him. The more you understand his ways. The moment he started to open up and his vulnerable side showed, the moment reality smacked him in the face and he began to see things for what they truly were… he just won me over. He made me see the real Dax hiding deep inside, behind that big rock star persona. And he was damn near irresistible. It only goes to show that, people can and do change when they want to. But it has to come from within, and that’s exactly what happened with this particular rock star.
The concept of Dax being on a dating reality tv show was beyond intriguing and interesting—it had me HOOKED. The whole time, I truly felt like I was watching every scene play out in my mind’s eye and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. The anticipation on what will happen next was just that intense. If you’re into rock star romances and want to be fully entertained… If you like books with characters being in a reality tv show… definitely check this one out! Dax Hunter will not let you down.

Holy hell, I freaking devoured this book! I can’t even tell you how much I missed reading Lisa Suzanne’s words. The last time I read a rock star romance from her, I fell hard. And this book was no different. Not Just Another Rock Star Romance brought out such fierce and strong emotions out of me, it kinda caught me off guard. I loved the fact that I had no idea where the story was taking me. Or the complete mystery on who this badass rock star, Dax Hunter, was going to end up with.

Due to a recommendation from Amazon based upon my reading preferences, I read Waking Up Married by Lisa Suzanne. I found that book entertaining enough so that at the end when the author invited me to check out Dax and Kylie’s, (two secondary characters in that book) love story, I thought why not? I was sort of disappointed. First of all, as I’ve stated many times before during my reviews, I’m one of the few contemporary romance reviewers on Goodreads of the male persuasion. So, you mostly female readers may have a completely different take on a book than me. While you’re swooning over the male leads, I’m into the female leads. So, my first and biggest problem with this book is that for much of it, Kylie the female lead, is practically a secondary character. The book is written completely from Dax’s P.O.V. unlike Waking up Married where the author alternated between both the male and female leads P.O.V. We see much of Dax and his bandmates doing all the immature things young twenty something guys do. Well in my personal experience even that was overblown to excess. But then its been decades since I was that age and these guys are budding rock stars so maybe that’s what young rocks stars do? We spend an awful lot of time with Dax as he’s a contestant on a reality television show akin to The Bachelor. I found that fairly interesting. Especially Dax’s relationships with Poppy and Eden as he struggled to figure out how to deal with his real feelings. But when it comes to the actual romance between Dax and Kylie we only get dribs and drabs with Kyle popping in and out of Dax’s thoughts and his life until the final third of the book. And what happened to poor Eden whom seemed like she deserved her own happily ever after but was never heard from again after the show’s final episode? I’ll begrudgingly give this book 3 Stars because I didn't hate it, but I really wished I would have seen more of the romance between Dax and Kiley. As it was, it really was hard to understand what Kiley, a young woman who really had her shit together, saw in Dax whose only redeeming value often seemed to be his loyalty to his brothers in the band.

Dax Hunter, an up and coming Rock Star and lead Singer of YFB (Your Favorite Band) has been convinced by Kiley his bands pr rep to take part in a reality TV show to find love, though of course he aint looking for love, but all the publicity will help his band and their image.
I loved this book, Dax really is an a**hole, a really hot sexy a**hole, but he's also one of those men that easily finds his way into your heart. This story is told mostly in his POV and i loved getting to know his good and bad points. Beneath that cocky confident Exterior there is a sweet, caring sensitive man!! Although he has strong feelings for Kylie but knows that being with her isn't possible and she doesn't reciprocate his feelings, he decides to give the gorgeous women on the show a chance. Who knows he just might find love.. right? This author definitely gives us characters we just don't want to let go, and writes in a way that leaves you no choice but let them take residence in your heart.
I both loved and Loathed Dax, The typical playboy rockstar, isn't gonna turn down the opportunity of sex with gorgeous women and he really doesn't mind that his antics are being filmed. I couldn't put this book down, with his antics and attempts at trying to fight his feelings for the one woman he shouldn't want, and due to his actions there were also many times i wanted to slap him even though he was also making me smile. I'm definitely in lust with this whole band and hope we get more of them all. Definitely not your typical Rock Star, and i loved this different and fresh approach !!!

Wow I loved this book so much! Dax really is not just another rock star! I mean sure he is crazy hot and the lead singer for the opening band for Vail, oh my heart Mark! But I loved everything about Dax. He is funny, sweet, impulsive, loyal and falling for the girl who is off limits. His bandmates implement the No Bang Oath when Kylie becomes their manager because she is hot herself but also the best manager they've ever had and they don't want to lose her. So Dax keeps his feelings for her to himself and when she asks him to do a dating reality show for exposure for the band he reluctantly says yes because he just can't say no to Kylie. Dax knows he won't find love because he's been burned in the past and can't seem to get past the hurt. But several of the women surprise him and he learns a lot about himself, mostly that he keeps thinking about Kylie! Dax finds himself involved in a huge scandal on the show and he hates it, but he mostly hates the disappointment he sees in Kylie's eyes. You will delve into this book and not be able to stop the story is just that good. Fall in love with Dax as he finds his own true love!

Definitely one of my favorites from Lisa!
The story is unique and one that I've personally never read anything like before.

Dax Hunter, the front man to MFB, is an obnoxious man. He is also a womanizer and if she has beautiful legs he was looking.
Now can you imagine what he feels when he hears the words "find love"? He says "no" but when he hears "money and exposure" he says "yes". Plus the fact that his band and manger push him to accept, why wouldn't he?
It isn't until the craziness of a reality show that we truly see inside him, how broken and lonely he truly feels. How he struggles with with letting others in. After disappointing the ones he holds close he vows to change his ways and wins not only their hearts but mine as well.
Dax has MANY faults and may not be the man for me but I believe he has found his true love. Even if BOTH of them had no clue how show each other. And BOTH of them had growing to do. They didn't do everything right but in the end they found each other.

Rock Star Reality Show
Dax is the lead singer of an up and coming band who is getting its big break and will be touring with VAIL shortly. To help get some additional exposure Kiley, MFB’s manager, talks Dax into going on a reality show where there will be ten women vying for the love connection with Dax. He is a little surprised that Kylie thinks this would be good for him because he was hoping that Kylie possibly had feelings for him.
This story had me loving and hating Dax all at the same time. He was the typical rock star that already had women at his disposal but this show had him looking a little deeper than just the physical connection. All that did once he really thought about it was bring Kylie to the forefront in his mind. This was a great rock romance that was a page turner for me. I’m looking forward to more of Ms. Suzanne’s books in the near future.

Going on a reality TV show to find his "perfect match" should be the perfect way to promote his band's upcoming tour, but Dax still has his reservations on taking part of the game. The women he meets all have the same problem - they are not Kylie, his PR manager who he has had feelings for from her interview with the band. But she is off limits, so he needs to make the best of the others. But can the heart forget what the heart wants? With adorable characters and a storyline that had me laughing out loud as well as wiping tears from my cheeks. Emotions run high and Lisa Suzanne once again does not disappoint!!

This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last.
From the start it kept my attention and simply forced me to turn pages. It is one great story, interesting and entertaining with wonderful characters. It is about a Rockstar forced to be in a dating show, but in denial about his feelings for Kylie. He has a couple different sides and only certain people see the true Dax. And Kylie is telling everything what is on her mind....What will happen between them and how the story will end, you will have to read it by yourself, and I will go and see what else is available from the author to read it this cold sunday.

Fantastic Read!
I've never read anything by Lisa Suzanne before but Kindle suggested her to me, based on my taste in books. Boy did they nail their suggestion this time!
I truly loved the reality show aspect and all of the realistic detail that made it come to life. I also enjoyed the relationship between Dax and Kylie. They have such a solid friendship, even if they drive each other crazy. I can list all of the many things I loved and enjoyed about this book. However, it would be much easier to say that I just overall loved and enjoyed this book.

This was a very quick and cute read! Dax is the lead singer of an up and coming band. Kylie is his manager and off limits. She signs him up for a reality show to get publicity for the band and their upcoming tour with Vail. He has to date ten women and during the course of the show he realizes he has feelings for someone else. I LOVED that we saw the characters from the A Little Like Destiny series!
