3.7 stars (4/10 hearts). I found this book after finishing the author's The Adult ADHD Self-Care Handbook. To be honest I wasn't expecting much... I've read lots of organizing books before, so I've heard a good deal of the typical tips and tricks. The one thing that surprised me reading this was how many of the things suggested I already do—which made me feel much better about myself! ;) The bits that I appreciated the most was the food prep/meal planning section, which is something I heavily struggle with. I also gleaned some good ideas for email upkeep. And I appreciated the constant reminder of the 5-minute method. Some parts were a little repetitive, which is definitely understandable, since you can only say so much about organization, and personally I was a little frustrated by the constant suggestions of just throwing stuff away (I feel like there's a lot more stuff that actually needs to be kept, even if its rarely used); but it was super thorough and even included recipes and cleaning lists. It was an easy read and very upbeat, with a strong "I believe in you" feel.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book for promotional purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.*

Written in such a fun and easy to understand manner. Usually these books end up being overwhelming, but Singer's positive and realistic attitude, combined with her consideration of the physical layout (i.e subheadings, relevant lists, dot points), make this a breeze. Definitely recommend!

Just what I needed

I found this book easy to follow and effective as I could dip in and out as my focus and energy levels allowed. Bite-sized pieces of information meant that I could try something, succeed, and feel a sense of accomplishment in short bursts. A great resource for anyone who needs a push to break inertia and get things done without becoming overwhelmed.

Short, sweet, and helpful

I've struggled with clutter my entire life. I have a graduate degree in psychology, and I know most of the tips and tricks, but I still find this book helpful. It offered some tips I hadn't thought of, or even just normalized what I thought was an okay idea (but also thought was "not enough"). Even if I know a lot of the info, this book organized them into a small space that I can reference, and that's a good place to help me get started!

I would have liked more pictures in the book, like examples of what some of the organization would look like.

This is a great tool! I love how it has suggestions and the reasoning while still allowing me to choose the path that works for me. I’m grateful for the app recommendations. It’s so hard to know where to start and this guide helps you to get started and possibly keep going or stop on a win. I love that the author reminds me that I’m not wrong, lazy, bad, etc. Just that there’s a different approach for me.

Great resource

This book is well written and easy to follow. Even though it is geared to those with ADHD I found the tips and tricks very useful. I like the the different apps it introduces and how it breaks down de-cluttering, cleaning and organizing into little 5 minute task making them very easy to complete. This gives you a sense of accomplishment and encourages to do more. I highly recommend this guide to all.

Caroline Singer’s ADHD Organizing and Cleaning Solutions is exactly what it promises: a thoughtful, user-friendly guide for those navigating the often overwhelming world of clutter and disorganization through the lens of ADHD. With both professional expertise and personal insight into neurodiversity, Singer brings warmth and practicality to a topic that can easily feel daunting.

At the heart of the book is the “Power of the 5-Minute Task”—a deceptively simple yet effective strategy that encourages momentum without triggering the paralyzing effects of overwhelm. Rather than pushing perfectionism or rigid systems, Singer offers small, manageable wins that feel achievable, even on tough days.

What sets this book apart is its empathetic tone. Singer doesn’t scold or shame; instead, she acknowledges the unique struggles that come with ADHD and offers compassionate, actionable advice. Her step-by-step suggestions are clear, accessible, and designed with neurodivergent brains in mind—no jargon, no fluff.

While this isn’t a deep dive into ADHD itself, it excels as a resource for creating calmer, more functional spaces, especially for those who’ve tried and failed with more traditional organizing methods.

Whether you're newly diagnosed or just tired of the chaos, ADHD Organizing and Cleaning Solutions is like a patient friend reminding you that progress is possible—even five minutes at a time.

Not Sure What I Expected, but this was not it.

In short: Break tasks into 5 minute chunks, just get started, do a bit every day, and throw things out first.

If you’ve read Marie Kondo, this isn’t worth reading. If you’ve read even the most basic books on tasks and productivity management, then this probably isn’t worth reading.

Have to say the first part of the book started good, but it just went downhill to the point that I was unsure what value I was actually getting from this book. It read like something generated by ChatGPT.

I also took a star off because of the page asking for reviews half way through the book… There’s ways and means. That wasn’t it.

A very practical and positive guidebook for sustainable organizational habits.

The book is very well-organized to make it easy to navigate through each section and choose chapters to read or re-read as needed. I appreciate the short chapters, headings and sub-headings, checklists and other helpful visuals.

This is an encouraging reminder of helpful and realistic strategies for cleaning, decluttering and organizing throughout the home and digital life. The suggestions are delivered in a positive and upbeat way.

With thanks to BookSirens for this e-ARC to read and review.

This book is a helpful resource to break free of inertia and get started through the 5-minute method, as well as encouragement to celebrate small victories.

I found this book to have many useful suggestions and resources for people with ADHD. I read it over a short period of time, but I'll go back and read it more slowly. Too much information can overwhelm, and I think it would be better to take the suggestions in stages and move on to the next stage, using what works and discarding what doesn't work.

The book covers pretty much all of the ADHD home life, from cleaning and decluttering to grocery shopping and recipe suggestions. It also provided a good list of resources to explore along with the book. Well done!
