They say, “If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Don’t make a deal with the devil. Always read the fine print.” If I had known the cost, would I have still taken the deal? Probably.
Kayla’s working at the diner when she comes across a mysterious cube. Just another Tuesday for a witch living on a ley line.
Steve wanted to win, and now he’s paying the price. Will he find a way out of his predicament or remain scrambled?
Solved is book 6 in the Kyleverse, a series of sentient object romance short stories. Kyle isn’t the main character, but he shows up to help the plot in one way or another. The stories are sequential but can be read as standalones.
Nicole Parker is the author of creative and humorous romance stories. She is a 30-something California native who spends the great majority of her free time writing books, reading books, or organizing her ever growing TBR list. She also has a spouse, some kids, and pets, but this isn't about them. Nicole's books are funny, raunchy, silly, and most importantly full of good vibes and happy endings.
Kyle does it again. I love Kyle's spontaneous appearances to help and then leave; he always knows what the protagonists need. Each story in the Kyleverse gets spicier, and this story, WOW! Steve is a nerdy boy who turns into a Rubik's Cube because he had to pay the price for making deals with the wrong people to win. Kayla finds him and begins to solve him, and Steve finds it pleasurable every time she does. This story has its sweet side; they both find in each other what they needed, and they look very cute together. Kayla gives Steve an intensive entertainment session using unconventional distractions to help him concentrate. These books are addictive; each object is better than the last. I love them. Parker really knows what she’s doing with these stories. Laughter, spicy moments, needy things, flavored fun—you'll find it all in this book.
I picked up this book at a festival after speaking to the author and her telling me a bit about her stories. When she told me this was inspired by the adorably nerdy Olympic gymnast, Steve, I had to get this book. I made the right choice,
All of Nicole Parker’s books are fun, so I wasn’t expecting anything less. But what really surprised me was how freaking hot this book was! I never thought that I’d be so into a Rubik’s cube. This story is one of a series on the Kyle-verse, and meeting Kyle was definitely an experience. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series now.
This story is short and sweet and perfect for what it’s a supposed to be— a weird and creative romp through Parker’s imagination that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still manages to pack a punch.
I will admit this one wasn’t my favorite. When we first find out the rubik’s cube is sentient I was into it and I liked the backstory about how it happened. It just lost me in the second half and I wasn’t invested. 2.5 ⭐️
I'm absolute garbage at solving cubes, so Stephen has my respect for being able to do it at all, let alone blindfolded. And then to be stuck as a cube after everything; that would probably be my literal nightmare!
Solved was another good one! Kayla gets her happy ending, and Kyle gets to have more fun flavoured treats 😂 I love the "found a relationship when definitely not looking" trope, and Kayla fits the bill to a T.
My man, Stephen, needs some staying power, though. No one likes a one pump chump, sweetheart! But those distraction lessons would certainly be helpful there, too. The poor guy...he had no idea what he was in for when he asked Kayla to help free him!
This series is an ongoing buddy read and after we all loved Spread, the previous book in the series, we were hoping for an upward trajectory for ratings for these books. Unfortunately Solved has definitely been the worst book in the Kyleverse so far. The MMC Steve was a complete ick of a man (/cube?) and every scene had us cringing. I also feel like I didn't get to know the FMC Kayla as much as I wanted. There was some more lore we learned about the Kyleverse but it wasn't enough to save the book, even Kyle couldn't save this one. Gutted this one didn't hit for us, but we will carry on with the next instalment Fluff very soon. 1 star
• Kyle • Cubing Innuendos • Simpy Nerdy Good Boy • Candy Necklace Flavoured Cüm • Distraction Lessons
Kyle spots Kayla talking to a cube and immediately offers to help solve her problem - he's good like that! Kayla is the perfect FMC to bring speedy Steve out of his shell, and with Kyle's assistance, they come up with creative distraction lessons to help Steve with his performance issues. This is another fun addition to Kyle's spicy adventures that had me laughing out loud at the innuendos and inappropriate place names.
I love that Kyle shows up and is like, ok what are we working with this time!!
This is the first book in the series that I FINALLY realized that our city is situated on ley lines and Garrett is a WIZARD!!! it makes since!! I told Nicole I just went with it lol
I loved the nerdiness of this book and how the cube was the main theme throughout the whole thing. Plus we got some hints into the next book Spread and I cannot wait for it!!
This was another fun read. Imagine finishing your shift up at the diner and then spotting a rubix cube on the table. Weird. Kayla decides to take the cube home with her. She starts twisting and turning it around and then hears a man's voice. Turns out this guy is trapped inside of this cube. There's a trick to solving this thing and Kayla finds a way to please herself at the same time. ;D
I still want to know what Kyle's overall role is in this series. There has to be a secret that we don't know yet...
“Let’s see how many times you can solve that thing before I make you come.” I am impressed and scared of Nicole’s “cube” knowledge. Another spicy and sweet story in the Kyleverse and I am here 👏🏼 for 👏🏼 it 👏🏼. Fun, nerdy and a little goofy, Steve is a cube competitor and shifter who gets stuck in his cube while cheating. Along comes Kayla who twists allll the right squares for him. Kyle is there to help and please too. Easy 5 stars. So fun!
We finally get a touch of backstory into how some of these cursing are happening and what goes into them!
It's such a little nerdy story revolving around speed cubing, but makes it fairly accessible, if mildly silly in that everyone knows the basics of cubing 😅 Kyle swooping in clutch to solve the cube to free Steve in this one.
This made me laugh so hard. The spice was suprisingly… good? My first sentient object read, and I gotta say, it was silly and funny. Not my usual thing, and probably will continue to not be my thing. But I laughed my ass off.
