River Hale is a pseudonym, created because her mother once told her that she'll read everything she ever writes. She's a writer with a tea addiction and a love for everything dark, twisted, haunted, and beautiful. She's written and published more appropriate books that her mother is allowed to read under her real name, but she'll always have a special place in her heart for dark romance.

Loved this so goddamn much! Love to see after 3 years they are so much in love and still a fucking sicko for each other 😍🖤

“The angel in him has always called to the devil in me, and the part of him that gets high off the adrenaline from his own fear not only accepts the devil, but loves it as much as it loves him.
And right now, the devil loves this.”

“I think I’ll kill you slowly,” I state casually.
His breathing picks up faster, harsher, louder. I can practically hear his heart pumping blood and adrenaline through his veins. I’m getting close.
“With my hands around your throat and my dick in your ass. I’ll fill you up as I watch the light fade from your fucking eyes.”

Love them in a crazy way. The novella was just as toxic and sick as the duet and I loved every second but their love was just as or even more stronger than it ever was. I might have even laughed for Lane’s reactions to the kidnapping (faking breaking his arm actually had me LOL). 3 years later I don’t think we’re surprised to find out that Harrison is still as manipulative as ever, but… Lane knows who he married so 😅 Like we can only hope that Harrison keeps his word to Lane by having no secrets between them and by the looks of it, I think this man might just keep his word (besides the whole finding his mother situation that I’m upset he never told him about). The angel in Lane will always call to the devil in Harrison and of course we will always love that for them 🙂‍↕️

“As much as I love being Lane and Harrison, it’s a comfort that we’ll still be us in our next lives.”

“I’m yours, Lane. Every part of me.”

“And damn the intoxicating aroma of oak and vanilla and spice that is distinctively Harrison that’s invading my senses, weakening me like it usually does. I’ve never been able to stay mad at him, but this time I’m too pissed off to let it go so easily. At least I’ve learned to only let him manipulate me when I allow it.”

“It’s good to know neither of us have completely changed. We’re still as toxic and twisted as we’ve always been.”

“How does it feel to be in love with a serial killer, baby?”

“I fucking hate you.” His hand in my hair tugs harshly until I’m forced to look up at him. “Careful, Hart,” he growls in my face. “You know how much I love your hate.”

“You can’t keep me here forever.” — “I can do whatever the fuck I want, Hart. You’re fucking mine. Now and fucking forever.”

“The angel in him has always called to the devil in me, and the part of him that gets high off the adrenaline from his own fear not only accepts the devil, but loves it as much as it loves him.”

“Harrison Copeland is one scary ass motherfucker. Of course, I’ve known that since the moment I met him. That may or may not be one reason why I’ve always been so drawn to him. Like he’s said before, the darkness in each of us is drawn to the darkness in the other.”

“Oh, god,” I moan as I slump over the bed, fisting the white sheets at the edge. “You know you’re praying to the wrong deity there, baby.”

“I’m not sure how he does it, how he makes me feel so scared and safe at the same time, but I’m fucking addicted to the feeling. Addicted to him.”

“It’s okay, baby. You did so good. You’re so perfect. I love you so fucking much. I’ve got you, angel.” (This makes me want to cry actually)

“Will you take me home now?” — “I would love to take you home, husband.” — “Murderous and sadistic one second. Sweet and cheesy as hell the next. Fuck, I love him.”

“If I didn’t already know it before, I’d know it now. There will never be another man for me but Lane Hart, not in this lifetime or the next, no matter what his name might be. Our souls will only ever know each other.”

— bonus scene quotes bc im a freak lol

“Even when I’m afraid, I’ve never felt safer than when I’m with Harrison.”

“I know he loves to make me cry. And I kind of love it too. There’s a freedom, a sense of weightlessness, in just letting everything go. In feeling it all so intensely, feeling utterly safe to let go with Harrison.”

“Don’t we taste amazing together?” — “Lane’s eyelids flutter as he whispers, “Always.””

“One lifetime will never be enough with you, Harrison.” — “Then it’s a good thing we’ll have more than one.”

“I don’t know what our future lifetimes hold, what it’ll be like when we’re no longer Lane and Harrison. I don’t like to think about it. But I’m sure as hell going to enjoy the life we have now.” (I actually dont want to think about that either)

This was an excellent return to Harrison and Lane. Set 3 years after Echoes of the Past, they are well into building their personal and professional life together. But after Harrison admits something to Lane, they end up in a VERY STEAMY situation!

I waited way too long to read the novella because I was not ready for it to end. I loved every second of this. This takes place a few years after Echoes of the past and needless to say... Harrison has not changed a bit 😂 I might even love him more now. 🥵

I didn't appreciate their relationship here, for some reason. Felt like they didn't evolve, Harrison still lies and manipulates Lane and Lane is still a pushover.

I'm intrigued about the next book though.
