He said he loved me, yet kept me in the dark like a dirty, shameful secret.
He broke my heart. Shattered my spirit. Warped my mind. Unleashed the darkness inside me I never knew I had…
I turn to my grandmother’s grimoire, praying to the Goddess for answers. But She gives me so much more than I ever bargained for—a being who lurks in the shadows.
Who helps me seek vengeance and shows me what real devotion truly is.
All magic comes at a price. And if I never see the light again, it’s a price I’m willing to pay…
Summoning is a short, spicy paranormal novella that will capture your interest if you are into witches and demons.
Ambrose believed he was magically lesser than those in his coven all his life. Upon his parents' passing, Caulder insinuated himself into Ambrose's life. As time passes, the relationship cools, and Caulder makes a public announcement that destroys Ambrose. He learns of his lover's cruelty and finally stands up to him, only to have Caulder turn on him, forcing him to flee in fear. Ambrose summons the demon named Ciaran for protection when trying to escape his wrath. But Ciaran proves what lengths he will go to in his bid to care for the younger witch, teaching the coven how seriously he takes his duties. Will they learn the error of their way or pay the ultimate price?
Omg I am in love with this little novella. M. Bonnet drew me in from the first page, and I did not put it down until the end. Ambrose was a sweet little witch who had been beaten down by life and everyone in it not sticking up for him. After a relationship goes bad and he learns a dirty little secret, he summons a demon. The demon is for protection, to help him be safe and strong, and know his worth going forward. This demon shows Ambrose what love and acceptance are and gets his revenge in the process.
The book started off well, but did feel it was rushed towards the end. It was marketed as a dark story and whilst it started off that way, I thought something was missing at the end.
I would have loved a longer story, more time to build on the relationship between them.
Both MCs were a bit too sweet at the end and it missed the mark for me.
Three and a half stars for the beginning of the book.
This was a fast paced easy read. I do wish this story was just a little bit longer so we could get some more development with the storyline and relationships. I would have really loved to see Ambrose's life in the coven as someone who was ostracized because of his lack of power control and see the love his parents had for him despite that. However, I still enjoyed reading Ambrose’s story. It ended up being a lot more sweet than I expected it to be.
Ciarán is a demon summoned by Ambrose out of fear for his life. After discovering the truth about the man he loved, he flees and summons a demon to protect himself. It was a different type of PNR and I felt bad for Ambrose, however he got his ending.
This was a good short story. It makes me want to go find other books like it. There's all the spice and a little plot. I liked that we got to see the obsession the demon had and how much he wanted to protect his summoner. It's a quick read that's well worth it if you're in-between books.
This waa a short story but had the perfect blend of plot and spice. I love seeing when abusers get what they deserve! 💕 The demon was very spicy and I loved how protective he was. Highly recommend this book! 😍
I liked this book. 3.5 stars for rating, 4 for spice. It was very short so not a lot of time for emotional connection in the relationship, but there was good insight into Ambrose.
Appreciated the revenge and the spice but not much else; felt rushed. If there was more relationship building or the demon reflecting on his longing over the years, o feel like it would have hit better.
