Rate this book
None stop action in this comedy adventure story of three old school friends who find themselves caught up in an incredible web of intrigue and espionage.
Mike Hardcastle never envisaged that twenty years ago his life would be turned upside down by a series of unforeseen events. Now, thirty-eight years old, Mike has made his peace with his turbulent past and is content with his modest lifestyle. Then, everything changes when Edith, his aunt, announces that she needs Mike to look after her dog, Hemingway, while she visits a sick
friend. Mike’s mundane and predictable life is about to be put into a tailspin, one more time...
Mike, and old school friends Charlotte and Tony are about to embark on a daring mission that none of them could have ever envisaged. It will test their friendship and bravery to the limit.
Written in our usual tongue in cheek style, this is a comedy adventure story with a cast of entertaining characters that will make you laugh, cry, and wonder what is going to happen next. This hilarious page turner has farcical comedy, drama, fast paced action, adventure, love, and romance.

You’re never too old to try something new.
That’s why we decided to have a crack at writing our first comedy novel in our sixties.

We write comedy misadventures for those who enjoy a smile and don’t want to take life too seriously.

Our lives both before and after we met and married have been full of surprises, funny incidents, and bizarre situations. We have both lived through ‘interesting times.’ What has kept us going through good times and bad has been our shared ironic sense of humour and strong self-belief that there will be a path through to better days.

We’ve tapped into our memories with our writing. Adding a good splash of over-active imagination and incredulity to come up with the characters and plots.

Are we like some of the characters in our books?
Yes, there are elements there especially in the Daisy Days books – Jack and Susie Morton are largely based on us. Other characters are a hotchpotch of people we’ve met, seen on TV or pure figments of our imagination.

Amazing how real they become though once they are brought to life in a manuscript. How wonderful it would be to invite all the characters in our books to a party and have a chat and let them get to know each other!

How do you write together as a couple?
We’ve always worked together so it comes quite easily (most of the time).

A few bits of trivia about us
We are retired (except for writing books – but that’s more like a hobby and no one tells us to go to work so that doesn’t count)

Yes, we are caravanners and we do have a caravan called Daisy – actually we’ve had two caravans called Daisy – good name so why change it? Our favourite destinations are Northumberland and The Scottish Borders which feature in our books.

Christopher had a heart attack and triple bypass just like Jack but he’s fit and well and eating porridge now.

Life has bowled us some odd balls from time to time, which have inspired our books. Not going into details – don’t want to give any plot lines away.

“We’ve lived everywhere man” as the song goes but are now permanently settled in Darlington – probably, but who knows?

We live with Princess Bonnie – a black and white cavapoo who likes soft cushions and keeps us both firmly under her paw.

Lynne creates all the covers to our books. She enjoys painting when she’s not writing, cooking or hoovering. (I do the hoovering actually)

We hope you enjoy reading our books as much as we loved writing them. Thank you for spending your time reading our creations, for which we are grateful. We never intended making money from our writings – it was started as a retirement hobby but the extra income is the icing on our pensions cake. And we need the money. (joke)

I am loving all of these books by, Lynne and Christopher Gumbleton.
All based around local areas, including Harrogate where I live and with eye-catching covers and brilliant storylines. Lots of twists and turns but always with a happy outcome.
I can highly recommend reading these books.
