Kenzi has her grandmother’s heart, her sense of adventure and her time machine at her disposal, so when York encounters a young woman clearly from the past and clearly in trouble, these two will throw caution to the wind and leap through time to save her. Landing in 1865, Georgia, they will find more than a brutalized woman clinging to life, they will uncover a tale of death, greed and the twisted aftermath of too much bloodshed and battle as they must decide who to trust with their lives and for Kenzi, with her heart.

Decisions must be made, danger is everywhere and through it all, will both Kenzi and York find their true soulmates in another time? Will they be able to make it back to their time or will Fate have another plan for them both?

Casi McLean’s BETWEEN THE SHADOWS is another magical romantic adventure through time on the shore of Lake Lanier! Filled with tension, some sadness in the present and the pull to the past to prevent actions that MUST be stopped, because why else would a ghost from the past call for help? Brilliant storytelling that feels as if Fate is dabbling with the hearts of four people who lives are mystically connected!

From start to finish, Ms. McLean tells a good story filled with darkness, the unknown and employing the pluck of Kenzi and the honor of York to bring it all together! What if we could travel through time, what would we find? Space-time continuum be damned, Casi McLean gives me romance that was meant to be!

Circumstances pulled York a hundred years into the past. As he learns to adapt to his new surroundings, he begins to accept that he never truly belonged into his own time. Just as he thinks that he can finally accept where he is, he stumbles upon a woman in trouble. A woman who came directly from the 1860s.

I really did enjoy this book very much. I do feel like it could have used a bit of work. Compared to the first two books, it fell a bit flat. I hate saying that. It's not a horrible book at all. It could have just used a bit of flair and something. I can't quite explain what it's missing. I guess a bit of suspense in a few places. I'm probably just being a snob. I will state that there are a few triggering parts of the book. They are brief.

I really can't say that I felt a connection to either of the main characters. I did empathize with their predicament. I think the one I felt most connected to was the granddaughter. She was strong and fierce and knew what she wanted out of life. She also made it her mission to try to help people live as long as they possibly could. She knows death is inevitable for all of us, but she strives to push it off as far as possible for most. That's why she became a doctor.

This book was narrated by Kristin James. I really enjoyed the narration. Her transition was very smooth. I don't believe she stumbled over anything or left anything out. I also loved how distinct she was with all of the characters. She didn't narrate the first two books. I believe each book had a different narrator. I can understand why. They all had different main characters as well.

I really did enjoy this book. I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first two. I just felt something major was missing. I felt it could have used a bit more suspense and build up. I'm pretty sure that most of the feelings I have are personal. I'm not sure if anybody will have the same opinion as me. Despite my misgivings of what's missing, it really is a wonderful book and well worth the read.

York’s day started with a normal walk with his dog around the lake. It ended with finding a girl wrapped in a blue mist. Rather than being afraid, York jumps on the opportunity to help the young women, becoming more intrigued when he finds out the girl is from over a century ago. Kenzie, faced with the deteriorating condition of her grandmother, is approached by York with a quest.

I haven’t read very many time travel romances, but this was an interesting story. It was fast-paced, and there were many subplots to keep the story engaging. This was my first story by Miss McLean, but it was very engaging. This is the type of story that you can get lost in for hours.

The narrator did a great job.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

The Story:

In this instalment York who arrived from the future at the end of book two, is finding his feet in the present day but when he stumbles upon a woman in trouble it is clear that she from the past, from the 1860s to be exact. She seems to be stuck in a time loop not able to leave the place where York found her, so he decides to travel back in time in order to help her.

There are a lot of moments where the effects of the past effect the future and by York going back to 1860 and getting stuck there when TESS malfunctions, it actually works out for the best in the future - it was a meant to be scenario.

I enjoyed this series, still cant get my head around the time travel things and how their actions would effect the future in the way it did.

The Narration:

I struggled at bit with Kristin's male voices to being with, I think because each audio book was done by a different narrator, I was just getting used to them before the next book being done by someone else. That being said I really liked her voice and she did bring this story to life, switching seamlessly between characters and accents.

Over all a 4 star listen

I think I can definitively say this was my favorite book of the whole series. It’s like everything finally clicks into place, and the story which has been building for the past three novels comes full circle.

Based on the synopsis you sort of get the sense that Kenzi and James would be the main leads of the novel, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth! In my mind, this story revolves around York and Izzy, and they were an undoubtedly intriguing duo with a unique allure that sets them apart from any of the other characters we’ve seen so far throughout the entire series. York is from the future. Izzy is from the past. And yet we see them connect in what we know as the present. It was such a smart way of storytelling that distinguishes it from practically any other time travel romance. And my goodness have I read a few of those. They may meet in the present, and feel an undeniable link to each other, but both can sense that the present is not where they belong.

Discovering she’s in 2018 rather than the 1800s induces no fear for Izzy, and instead she attempts to see the entire episode as an adventure. She’s definitely braver than myself, lemme tell ya! York is set on saving this woman from whatever fate befell her in the past. She knows she was attacked by a black-bearded man in an abandoned stone cellar in the wilderness of North Georgia at the end of the Civil War. Since her blackout she’s been stuck in the area around Lake Lanier, and can’t move beyond it’s perimeter. When York and his dog come along, she’s shocked that this man can hear her, touch her, feel her. For York, he too is surprised at the immediate connection with this woman from the past, and also by the fact that he feels they’ve met before in his future. That’s all it takes for him to become convinced their destinies are linked, and that he was meant to travel back in time to save her.

York is set and determined to risk his life to save Izzy from her sad, wandering fate. He can’t do it alone though, and relies heavily on Kenzi’s help. She knows how to activate Tess, her grandmother’s time travel device which can help them pinpoint a destination in time by channeling the fantastical energy surrounding Lake Lanier. Not only that, Kenzi also has medical training, which just might be the most useful time travel knowledge to have. Although the synopsis sort of sets Kenzi up as the main focus of the story, in my opinion she took on more of a supporting role.

The importance of her character was undeniable, as well as her romantic link with a soldier from the past, James. However, I just didn’t feel the same connection with them as I did with York and Izzy as a lead couple. Kenzi and James’ attraction came across as a bit more surface level, whereas with York and Izzy I felt their fear, their sadness, their desire for each other so much more. There was depth to their connection that was the beating pulse of the whole story. Again, this isn’t to say I didn’t like this other story with James and Kenzi, but it wasn’t the shining feature for me.

What made this novel stand out for me when compared to the others in the series is that we see a perfect balance of time eras. We start things off in the present. Izzy is from the Civil War era and somehow infiltrates the solitude of York’s existence after he traveled back in time from the future. York then decides to travel back to Izzy’s time with Kenzi in the hopes that they can save her from whatever tragic fate apparently trapped her to wander the shores of Lake Lanier for centuries. And then we see the ideal culmination of events where Kenzi returns to the future with a companion in tow, while York remains in the past in an attempt to save Izzy. It’s a beautiful story arch of going from the present to the past, and then having the final scenes alternate back and forth between the two. Almost like a song or dance where we have two separate performances which finally blend into a cohesive duet. It made sense, it flowed, and you constantly questioned when and where our characters might end up.

It may have taken me the entire series to finally comprehend, but I’ve ultimately come to the realization that this tale can’t be explained by just science or fantasy alone. Rather, it’s a melding of the two. We have the mysterious time travel element of Lake Lanier which really can’t be explained. This fantastical element can also influence some of our characters to have premonitions of future events, as well as communicate with people in the past. However, the power of the Lake can be harnessed and focused with scientific precision into Tess, which thereby becomes the entrance to the time travel portal. The mystery of Lake Lanier is sprinkled with magic, yet also built upon with science. You sort of need to allow your mind to open up to these possibilities, and realize that it’s not a case of just one or the other. The melding of these two characteristics is so much clearer in this final book that I finally feel like I understand how it all works.

**3.5 Stars**
Keep in mind that this is the third book in the series and I recommend reading them in order to attempt to keep things straight- which is hard to do when time travel and multiple timelines are in play. This book has it's own standalone romance but the world building is a continuation.

There was two different timelines/relationships going on in this story. First there is York and Izzy. York is out of his own time (his origins from a previous book), living in the modern world when he meets Izzy, a young woman who was thrust from the past into the modern time with no memories. The other relationship is with Kenzie, granddaughter to the inventor of the time travel device who goes back in time to help York on his quest to help Izzy- and inadvertently gets kidnapped by James. I loved their story, I rooted for them to find love regardless of the short interaction (but probably because I am a sucker for the enemy to lover trope (or kidnapper to lover??).

This is now the fourth book I have read by this author, in two different series and she is great at making the reader aware of the attraction between characters. BUT in every book she talks about the character loins/groin tingling (and occasional clenching) a lot (in all the books) to indicate that they are aroused/attracted to the love interest. I personally have never had tingling loins and I found it slightly off putting. There are so many ways to indicate attraction and lust, I think this is my least favorite. But that is just a personal preference and I might not have noticed or been bothered by it but I read two of her books back to back.

Overall this was another interesting romantic installment to the time travel series, this time having two relationships with HEA and a new setting of the Civil War area.

I listened to the audiobook, where there was only one narrator (with one voice so everyone sounded the same) even though there were multiple character views and timelines so I was occasionally confused as to who was talking or what was happening. I think I might have enjoyed this better if I had read it instead of listening.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Casi McLean. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

York was a man, settled into a new life. Ripped from the past, York had quickly, if reluctantly, adjusted to the 21st century. He had everything he needed: a lovely home, more money than he could spend in his lifetime, a close circle of friends, a dog… but he was empty, his life was empty… until he saw Isobel.
She appeared out of a blue mist but was as real as the trees or his home. Her scent ensorcelled his, and all he wanted to do was to hold her in his arms and worship her. But first he must get her to safety, out of the woods and into his home. But wretched Fate had other plans. Ripped from his arms, Isobel disappeared in a raging tornado of that same mysterious blue mist….
Isobel awoke in the cold, deserted root cellar, alone and disoriented. Badly beaten, in terrible pain and frightened, Isobel knew no one would find her before she died. Determined to free herself from the bonds placed upon her by her captor, she struggled and prayed…
Kenzie Reynolds was at a loss; her grandmother was dying, and there wasn’t anything she could do about it. But what was Kenzie to do once her grandmother passed? She was a doctor, but as a doctor, why couldn’t she save her grandmother? There was so much her grandmother had yet to tell her, to explain to her; more adventures to have and to unfold. Kenzie was lost in her grief, until York approached her with his tale of the ghostly Isobel, and his belief she was in terrible danger… in the past.
Taking the initiative, Kenzie and York decide to use Tess, the time machine Kenzie’s grandmother had built, and go back into the past to help Isobel. Fully aware of the danger, they return to 1865 and begin their attempt to save Isobel. But they know they cannot alter history, for they would chance erasing themselves forever.

This story grabbed my attention from the first. Fast paced, complex, and sometimes a bit difficult to track, it switches from past to present to past in a rapid-fire manner. Very enjoyable read, with a kiss of danger and a dash of romance. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a time travel romance/adventure.

I enjoyed the story very much, but felt that there was a lot of questions. This book actually had The simplest of time traveling storyline of all three books in this series so far. Attaway York had been yanked from the future into the past in the last book. He has made a life for himself there in the past, 2018. I felt like we were missing some juicy story. How did he react initially? What was his emotions while discovering a very different world? And with Tess working well, why didn't he travel back? He states that he did do some traveling by Tess before. And his locket turned out to be the key to updating Tess to full capacity. How? Why? I would love to know some of the science that Sandy Reynolds used to update Tess. My favorite book of all time is A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle, so I'm interested in the details. And where did Kenzi come from? The last book didn't say anything about Drew Reynolds having an adult child, and it gives the impression only 2 yrs went by since the last book.

With that said, the writing was great, and the historical details were on point. The author has done tremendous research on Georgia and history of the Civil War. I liked all the characters, and the part that fate played in some of the relationships. The greatest thing about this story is while there is a lot of fantasy, it's all rooted in a plausible reality.

Between the Shadows is written with the precision of historical fiction coupled with wild imagination that stems out of asking, what if? This is a dual-romance story that makes lovers long for each other across the ages. Using time travel, they are faced with all the complexity and risk it would take to change the course of history.

Kenzie Reynolds, a doctor, is at a loss to save the life of her dying grandmother. The sense of impeding grief is already paralyzing her—until she finds a new purpose. She uses the time machine, dubbed Tess, developed by her grandmother for helping her friend, York, in a risky adventure going from 2018 back to 1865 Georgia. Kenzie never expected to fall in love there with an injured soldier from the past, James Adams. Love and friendship are in the balance, when she fears making a decision. To save his life, would she leave York behind?

York, who is from the future, falls in love with a ghastly apparition of Izzy (Isobel), a girl who beckons him from the past and who has been wandering the shores of Lake Lanier for centuries. The present is not where they belong, but it is where they meet. He wants to save her from her fate. Can he leap into the past to do that, at the risk of being trapped there or even worse, erasing himself forever as he attempts to change the flow of history in his attempt to rescue her?

BETWEEN THE SHADOWS is third book in Casi McLean’s romantic adventures through time on the shore of Lake Lanier.
She never expected to confront deadly villains…let alone fall in love with one… This sums up the book very well.
When Mackenzie Reynolds friend, York, finds a young woman obviously from the past and in trouble, Kenzi takes the opportunity to time jump with York to 1865 Georgia. What she doesn’t expect is to be thrust into a conflict over stolen confederate gold.

James Adams an injured Civil War survivor kidnaps Kenzi and her horse in an attempt to help his war weary companions. The last thing she expects is to fall in love. Meanwhile York searches for answers to his young woman in her time of 1865.

For Kenzi and James things go horribly wrong and time is of the essence. But can she really trust James? Is he really who and what he claims? Tough decisions must be made for the lives, hearts and futures of Kenzi and James as well as York and his mysterious woman.

Ms. McLean has woven another magical time travel adventure/romance in which you have to wonder if fate is pulling the strings of the four people involved. You’ll laugh, cry and cheer for her characters from beginning to end. An enjoyable read I highly recommend.

just missing that little something to make 5stars

Overall 4 out of 5 stars
Performance 4 out of 5 stars
Story 4 out of 5 stars

I enjoyed this one just as much, but a bit more than the first two of this series. I am certain because I went back to re-listen to them before starting this one. I had to go back . . .

Back to the shores of Lake Lanier. Back to another gripping mystery through the times. Back to another romance that was once separated by time and space. Adventure. Intrigue. Intensity. Opportunity. Fate.

There was more here than just Kenzi and York making that trip back to historical Georgia. They were there for a purpose, but was that the same one or one of the heart. How much of there trip back was fate pushing them in the right direction? How much of that was their chance to right a wrong or find love?

Kristin James did a good job with the diction and tone of the audio. I could feel emotions coming through the audio. I could make a connection with the characters through her emphasis of the words of Casi McLean. McLean brought to life another time travel mystery by the lake that makes you almost want for the same opportunity. That one chance you may have at your lifetime of love and connection.

3.5 stars: (review request submitted by the author for an honest critique)

Time travel stories and movies capture viewers’ interest because many of us have pondered when and where we would go, if given the opportunity. I myself have considered, many times over, whom I would like to meet.

In Between The Shadows, Casi McLean takes us back in time to the Civil War era. There, readers are thrust into one suspenseful moment after another while York and Kenzi attempt to save a woman’s life without altering the present.

That’s the real issue with time traveling… you can’t alter history. York took steps to make sure history was left intact. (For you history buffs, you’ll be pleased to know the missing Confederate gold is the main focal point in the plot and Casi addresses it again before we reach The End.)

Whether you are traveling to the past or coming to the present, the experience can be overwhelming. On the trip to the present, this is where Casi does a fantastic job of showing how our simple luxuries can be confusing to a person.

Suspense, love, bit of history, couple surprise moments, and a HEA……. All of these combine to make a story readers will want to relive time and time again.

Brilliant finish to the series. Little did I think I would enjoy this series as much as I did. It takes some thought on your part to sort through the characters, their relationships and the different time periods but is well worth the effort. I strongly suggest you read this series in the correct order as much of the back story continues throughout and you will miss out on a great deal understanding without reading them in order. Book 2 follows on pretty much immediately (in time) from book 1, however book 3 leaves a 2 year gap before it starts which I personally feel would have been good to fill, however it doesn't detract from the story line, which is full of life changing/threatening action right from the start and initially centres around York and Izzy, but very soon develops around Kenzi and James as well. You can feel the chemistry between the characters as you see the relationships develop and I really wasn't sure until near the end if some of these characters would actually survive or if the relationships would survive the journey that they had undertook. Without giving anything away, i can say I thought the ending was the spot on.

Between the Shadows is a Time travel book. It is part of the Lake Lanier Mysteries series. it is book 3 in the series. In the book York and Mackenzie Reynolds must travel through time back to 1865 to save a ghost woman. York has found a woman in our time but there is something very strange about her looks and the boundaries she can pass. York convinces Kinsey they must travel back to 1865 and save Isobel before she is brutally raped and murdered.

They travel back in time to Georgia at the end of the Civil War. Once there they run across James, a soldier from the war who is trying to get home. Along with James is Brady another soldier who the war has turned into a brutal man. James takes Kinsey hostage in order to escape death from York and Collin, Isobels brother.

It is pretty much love at first site for York and Isobel, and for Kinsey and James. Now the tricky part is can Kinsey leave James in 1865 to return to the present in order to save James' life ?

Time travel at its finest! This book is the 3rd in the Lake Lanier Mysteries series. While it can be enjoyed as a stand alone, it is definitely more mind blowing when the books are read/listened to in order.

The present day mystery of the ghost of the lake has prompted a time jump to over 160 years in the past. Saving one person could lead to sacrificing another and possibly changing the future (present) as it is known.

Casi McLean has woven a very detailed tale. The twists and turn kept me guessing and the mind blowing reveal at the end was awesome!

The narration by Kristin James was very enjoyable. Great timing, emotion and differing voices. I would not hesitate to listen to more of her performances.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and looked forward to reading this book. However I wasn't very far into the story before I felt lost. It truly felt like I somehow missed an entire book, I finished the book with a lot more questions. Mackenzie is Drew's daughter, but in the previous books I got the impression Drew was unmarried and definitely not a father, what happened to Kenzie's mom, what was that story line? And what was with all sudden interest in the paranormal? What's going on with Lacey and Piper who only get a passing mention in this book? While it was imaginative what they did with Prince in this story, why couldn't Drew teleport himself like he could in the previous book? And what is going to happen with Tess? This has been my least favorite book in the series.

On a redeeming note, I really enjoyed York and Izzy's part of the story.

Between the Shadows

By Casi Mclean

This is Ms. McLean’s third book in the Lake Lanier Mysteries. I have read all three. She never disappoints. This time we are following York Attaway and Mackenzie Reynolds trip to the end of the Civil War. They are trying to save Izzy. After a split second choice, Kenzie may have changed the past, present, and future.

I love it. This was a great way to wrap up the series. I am always hopeful that the end of a great set will be a good as the first. She always makes the first part of the book a great hook. After that, she reels you in. I am hoping to read a few of the other books she has written. From the first book until the last she can wrap you in a story and setting that you wouldn’t normally go.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

I really enjoyed this 3rd book to the Lake Lanier Mysteries. Each book has a different story but with overlapping characters. I would recommend starting with book 1 Beneath the Lake. This one had York and Izzy sorting out their story. York was introduced at the end of book 2 and wasn't from the 21st Century but found a home with the Reynolds. Kenzi Reynolds wanted to help Izzy and along with York set out on their time jump adventure. Izzy and York find their niche in time and Kenzi finds out that love doesn't have to be from this time. I am not sure if this is a happily every after for now or more to come. I will be looking out for more if there is.

Between the Shadows is the final book in the Lake Lanier Mysteries. I loved how this book ties up the loose ends of the Reynolds family. It was a quick, easy read.
The characters and storyline were phenomenal in this book. I enjoyed how the story took place in the 1900's at the end of the civil war era. This book is Drew's daughter Mckenzie & James story & also York & Izzy's story. York popped up at the end of the second book. I honestly feel this series is best read in order instead of as individual standalone's. I'm glad that I took the time to read Lake Lanier Mysteries. I was not disappointed. I hope the next reader enjoys it as much as I have.

Title: Between the Shadows
Author: Casi McLean
Format: Audio
Narrator: Kristin James
Genre: Time Travel, romantic suspense
Standalone: Technically
Part of a Series: Book 3 of 3 in the Lake Lanier Mysteries series
POV: Lizzie, York, Kenzie, James
Steam Level: Fade to Black
5/5

While technically a standalone, Between the Shadows is best read in order - as the third and final book in the Lake Lanier Mysteries series. I love how Casi McLean plays with time, fate and lineage in this series. This is such a smart series. The twists and turns throughout makes Between the Shadows a fun rollercoaster of adventure and emotion.

I received this audiobook for free from StoryOrigin. This is my honest and voluntary review.

hm.

I think this book was my least favorite of the series - perhaps I should have taken a break between the first books and this one. Regardless, I did enjoy the story for the most part - again, I liked the time travel elements and the intrigue elements as we found out what happened to Izzy and how all the pieces (and people) fit together. Really, the overall plot was ingenius in that regard.

Where this book fell short for me was in the editing - I found enough typos and repetitious passages that I started to get to a place where I just wanted it to be over, so not quite a five-star read for me. For readers who don't mind those things, especially those with an affinity for time travel and mystery, this should be well received.

Wow what an interesting book this is. I love time travel and this was better then most. Not reading/listening to the first two did make it a tad confusing in the beginning so if you are in to time travel I would pick up at least the first one as I have no doubt you will be back for this one. For example it took me half the book to figure out if York was from the past or the future, it didn’t matter which it was as it makes no difference in the book I am just one of those readers who wants all the answers. Anyway. I loved the storyline, I can’t wait to get the first two books and meet Sandy and to find out York’s story. The ending was PERFECT! Definitely recommend

I really enjoyed this third book in the series about time travel. I would have liked to have seen more of a tie in from book 2 York to the York in this book since I didn't binge read them all together I needed to remember what I had read of the story from the previous 2 books months ago. But I thought the story was well put together and the time travel piece was done well and explained in a way that people could easily follow. I loved the cast of characters that have built through all 3 books in her series and will miss them dearly now that the series has been wrapped up. This is a great tie travel series to get lost in though!

Another great time travelling story from Casi McLean.

This is the third book in the fantastic Lake Lanier Mysteries. I can honestly say these have got to be the most gripping time travelling series I have read.

This series follows the families that started with Lacey Montgomery and her rushing from her friend Pippa’s party after finding her ‘boyfriend’ with another woman through the Twin Tower attack to end with the story of Mackenzie Reynolds and how she travelled through time to help her friend, and all the adventures that they have in between.

A story that keeps you reading from the first page to the last, and I love the way everything fits together seamlessly.

A great 5 ⭐️ read.

This is the first book I've read on time travel romances and it was so much more interesting then I thought it would be. Very well written, with what seemed to be very accurate period information that made me feel like I was there. Civil war survivors and a ghostly being. But Kenzi and York find romance and not with each other as expected in the beginning. This story has a a few twist and turn it makes for an awesome read. You have romance, kidnapping, violence, horse theft and intrigue. Quite the combination. This should be on your TBR list. Very hard to put down, you can't wait to see what happens next.

This book had so many things I love: paranormal elements, history, romance, and a fascinating, mystical setting that serves as a character in and of itself. Oh, and tie-ins from the previous books in the series, as this is Book 3...so while it can be read as a stand-alone, readers will appreciate more plot details, character references, and intricate connections if the books are read in order. The action is non-stop, with two stories taking place simultaneously, each affecting the other and possibly the outcome of history. Everything comes together perfectly in the end, with more than a few "ah-ha!" moments, and while I want to avoid specific spoilers, destinies are fulfilled.

I agree with other readers who say this could be a standalone but is better read in series order. After reading descriptions of the previous books, I wish that I had read those first. That I didn’t, is totally okay…
I read this more for the historical fiction and time travel aspects rather than the romance (merely a personal preference). The Izzy/York connection seemed a little more credible to me than that of Kenzi and James. Again, that’s on me rather than on the author (I’m not big on romance – that’s Hubby’s department).
This was a light yet suspenseful read – I’d add cozy mystery as one of its genres.

I have read other books by this author and more in my TBR “stack”.

This is book three in this series, and is a time travel story. We’re travelling to 1865 and back again to 2018!
I loved it, the descriptions of the different time, the characters, everything was written brilliantly. I don’t normally read this type of genre, as I’m confused easily with keeping track of characters and times, but this was really easy to read. Kenzie and York are the main characters with Izzy, James and Colin playing a part in the money mystery :) and I especially love the little tie up at the end!
Would recommend :)

Shadows is the third book in the Lake Lanier series. I have never read about time travel but this series has been very interesting. Kenzi and York go back to the 1800's to try to save a woman York feels like he has to save, but while there some things go right and some things go wrong. James is her brother and helps them save her, but he ends up getting injured and Kenzi has to save him. But can she leave York in 1865 to take James back to the future and how will Tess handle all this extra travel?

Between the Shadows by Case McLean pulled me in from the very beginning. The premise of traveling in time is intriguing. This book has many twists and turns, which I love. Kenzi, James and York were characters that pulled me in. Kristin James was awesome in her performance. She added the right emotions and inflections to her voice, The ending of the book was incredible! I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntary written this review, I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.
