In the near future, magic is now widely known and accepted, just not my form of magic…
As a tattoo artist, I create beautiful art upon my clients during the day; but as a witch, in the darkness of the shadows, I offer up my abilities in black magic and perform illicit magical tattoos that unleash the inner beast within; Despite the threat of imprisonment, I continue to give Daemon tattoos to a select few, only when absolutely needed.
With volatile magic swirling through my veins, I have to be careful that it doesn’t seep out of me on a daily basis; but with the help of my Daemon, Rosie, I’m able to live a relatively normal life.
Life in general has become pretty boring and routine, that is until one night when a smug billionaire playboy comes into my tattoo parlor. My immediate dislike ignites into a burning passion deep inside me that I didn’t think was even possible after my tortured past…
Gin
As the heir to a booming liquor empire, the world is my oyster. Money can buy almost anything, but it doesn’t help fill the deep empty void I feel inside myself. My whole life I’ve felt like something was missing, a part of me incomplete…
When I happen to visit a random tattoo shop with my college buddies and the place gets raided by the Anti-Magi, I think I may have possibly found a solution to my problem. A witch, and a beautiful one at that. Maybe her magic can help me.
Her rejection of me only makes me want her all the more… For the first time ever, I try, for her. Whatever it takes, I will make her mine.
Daemon Ink is a spellbinding fantasy romance that will lure readers into a world of forbidden magic and intoxicating desire.

Rosie and Oz steal the show. Nix and Gin have an awesome love story, but their Daemons really did steal my attention. In general I usually prefer more spice, but I was caught up in the story I didn't mind. Elsie is an amazing author. Don't skip this one!

Oh my god i am absolutely in love with this book I loved the magical concept, the story, the characters I loved everything about this book. This book completely drew me I was hooked from the very first page. It had the right bit of everything in it and I loved that. I loved how well written and how well structured the book was. I love how easy it was to picture the characters in my head. Can’t wait for the next one.
Fun and quick read. Nix and Gin have a quickly evolving relationship that starts with her pure annoyance and his utter infatuation. Nix- a witchy tattoo artist with a secret and Gin- an uber rich, haughty, spoiled dude can’t seem to stay away from nix, thus a unique blossoming relationship. The daemons , Rosie and Oz are too cute and funny- Rosie is by far my favorite! With the looming kewler penitentiary hanging over nix’s head, she tries to lay low after a raid that destroyed her shop as the anti magi search for criminalizing material- she’s too smart for that though. When gin enters chat she wants nothing to do with the spoiled rich boy but he just won’t stay away. Not only is he infatuated with her, he needs her to help him find his peace. Begrudgingly she agrees and finds that he can also be her peace. After a spicy weekend that completely flips the script of their relationship they find themselves fighting a bigger issue than trying to keep their daemon inside until it’s safe. Parts felt a bit drawn out but I think it offers some respite and proves that these two characters are normal people and sometimes life can be mundane but that’s okay! Can’t wait to read more from this author
This story follows Nix or Phoenix as she lives her life as a tattoo artist and piercer as well as a witch, in a world where magic is allowed but certain magics have been deemed highly illegal and there’s an entire anti magic wing of government made to prevent those acts. She meets a rich trust fund baby turned man that is instantly drawn to her for more than one reason, and the story unravels into a spicy story of romance and smexual tension despite her magic and past trauma. The plot thickens towards the end with an unexpected event that puts Nix in massive danger.
This was such a good read. I love the characterization of Nix and her simple witchy vibes as well as the pet names that are throughout the book for her like “my gothic queen”. It’s such a good story filled with tension and the switching perspectives helps showcase their thoughts and the romance developing SO well. I read this so fast and I definitely need to read more of this author’s works. Nix is definitely one of my favorite female characters ever in a book now. I’d rate it 11 out of 10 in my book journal so it gets 5 stars here.
𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 ↴ I truly wanted to like this book and I enjoyed bits of it but just some things did not add up. Nix losing control of her magic all the time was getting a bit old. Gin being told to stay inside after the spell and failing to do so was ridiculous. The whole building a campaign in less than a day was kind of insane but to each their own. I did like how supportive Gin’s dad was about the campaign once he knew his reason for wanting to run for "the highest office he can get elected to besides president" and I did like how badass Nix was towards the end. I loved Rosie and Oz though, they could be my favorite characters.
𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 ↴ Mention of rape (you can kind of tell before she actually says it because of her reaction to certain things)
𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤? ↴ I wouldn’t but I also wouldn’t tell anyone not to give it a read and form their own opinion if asked about it.

Real talk. This book is absolutely fantastic. To be honest, I should have started it earlier in the day and not right before bed because I literally could not put it down and ended up stayed awake until 3am reading it. Elise captured me with every line. Her excellent storytelling, whimsical imagery, sharp sense of humor, and stellar character development were “chef’s kiss.” She builds the story from both female and male POV (with bonus inner monologues from each character’s daemon) and brews a deep suspenseful electricity from each perspective, adding even more to the intrigue and desire. The concepts of magic were imaginatively intelligent, well-described, and believable. Moreover, the story was just GOOD. I found myself laughing out loud at several moments and really enjoyed every moment spent indulging in this great book. 10/10 stars. Would recommend to a friend. Worth losing sleep over. I cannot wait to check out more from this author. WOW!
Elise hit the nail on the head with this onel! Nix (or Phoenix) is a renowned tattoo artist who does amazing work and is sought out by many, and she's also a witch with a big secret! Magic is widely accepted in her world, but some forms are still highly illegal, including the work she does! When a playboy billionaire heir to a whiskey company shows up with an old high school classmate of hers, she avoids his advances and he just can't stop (what playboy who's that good-looking, a perfect smirk, and those eyes gets rejected?!) But he has a secret of his own, and they have to figure each other out, trust each other with their secrets, and their lives, and maybe, their hearts? Incredible read, ups and downs, twists and turns you never expected, and hea! Definitely add to your tbr! You won't regret it!!
Wow she did it again!!! I read this in one sitting it was so good. In this world witch's have been recognized and legalized to do the craft , that is except for demon workers. The female main character is sly and determined so she finds a unique way to still do her craft. When she stumbles upon a man she needs to help who could mean danger to her in more ways than one but could also be the one thing she didn't know she needed. As their attraction grows and he is figuring out his new life the past catches up with her and there both thrown into danger and she must overcome what scares her the most to save them all. This book is amazing and has it ALL !!! If you like action, spice , demons, tattoos, billionaire romance, suspense, grumpy sunshine, strong female leads and cute animals this is 100%for you! This is a must read asap in my opinion at first chance I will be buying this !!!!!!
Rosie the Ribbitor and OZ took the story to a whole new level! The world building and character building turned it into a movie in my head! There is nothing about this book I didn't like. From the first page to the last, I loved every minute of it. Nix is an incredible main character, and Gin is the perfect adorable rich guy with a soft side. The plot twists keep the reader engaged and entertained. Elise H. Ford might just be my new must-buy author! The respect for Magick and the Craft is awesome. I loved seeing the mention of Tank girl and Type O Negative. It really brought the Phoenix, Nix, to life for me. I loved the movie so much. I can see small influences in Oz that could have been from the movie. I look forward to reading the rest of her books.
I have ARC read for Elise before and fell in love with the way she writes. I just finished this ARC and again fell in love with the way it was written.
I really enjoyed reading Daemon Ink. It's a book that you can't put down. Phoenix and Gin are such unique characters that just makes you love who they are. Plus you can't go wrong with witches and tattoo shops. I have already pre-ordered this as an ebook and once its in physical form, I will be buying the book as well.
If you have never read a book by Elise H. Ford, her books are a must read. I've read Star's Journey and The Midnight Hour. I also have her other books on ebooks that I plan to read!
Stars: 3.75/5 rounded to 4 Spice: 2.5/5 (spice is totally subjective)
Daemon Ink was a cute romance. The daemons, Rosie and Oz definitely stole the show and I wish we got more of them. I wish we had gotten more of Nix's backstory to explain her hatred of the Overseer but the story was well done. I loved both POV and seeing Gin's father support him after the scene set him up to not. Nix was so enjoyable as the FMC. I hope she shows up in future books. I highly recommend this book for quicker, enjoyable read.
This story is a fantasy romance which contains dark themes and an explicit situations. Please reference the trigger warnings prior to reading. (Author notes book is intended for readers 18+)
Love the book begins with the recommended playlist. The story captivates you from start to finish. Had me on the edge of my seat and could not put it down. The way the author writes this story is so magical and musical. I absolutely love Nix and Gin and their Daemon’s Rosie and Oz. The twists and turns in the story have me obsessed. I want more! Best book of 2025 so far and have a new favorite author.
4.5 stars this book was so good. nix and gin were such great characters and i loved the banter between them. nix being stubborn for good reason. she has some trauma that she is trying to deal with and gin feeling like there is something missing and cant figure it out. i love that nix has a tattoo parlor. she is my wcw all day. i love the daemons too. rosie and oz are the cutest and the relationship they have is too cute. overall a really great book. magic fantasy open door romance
I WANT ONE....Daemon ink, yes please!!!! OMGosh I wasn't sure about this book at first as I didn't really get a lot of information, but found the cover to be beautiful. I know, I know, I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but HOT D*** it's a WINNER!! Elise H. Ford did such an amazing job with the suspense, the action, the plot twist, the character building. I literally finished the book and wanted to start reading it again. I could read about Nix and Gin's adventures and love FOREVER!
She has done it again! Another story i just could not put it down! A great story, including one of my all time favorite things, tattoos! Of course there was also fun, adventure, a hot guy, SPICE!, and of course a bit of crazy to wrap it all up nicely! Love the story. Definitely one of my favorite reads of the year!
This was my first book by Elise, and I quite enjoyed it. I like the magical essence that was added to everyday things like tattoos. I would have liked to hear more about her past. I feel the little bit we got at the end was a bit rushed. While we know she had trauma, we didn't get a whole lot about it.
Overall, it was a great read, and I look forward to reading more from Elise!
This is. Great story. Please check your TW and CW. The world building that the author does is phenomenal. I absolutely love the characters. They have such depth and realism with room to grow and change. The witty banter and connections are amazing. The dynamic between the MCs pops off the page. The plot was insane. I hope to see more from this universe. Highly recommend this book.
All I can say is WOW! This was another amazing book from Elise. She has an incredible talent for writing stories! This book had so much adventure. It had spice! I loved it from beginning to end. Amazingly written by a great author!
The magic system in this is interesting and I like the whole idea of tattoos/daemons. The writing seemed a little unpolished and overly explained mundane actions at times, but the story was cute and it was fun to read. Rosie and Oz completely stole the show, they are my favorite characters ❤️
I really enjoyed reading this and loved the whole concept of daemons, it’s so unique and interesting. There wasn’t a lot of spice but there’s a good love story, great characters, and a HEA ending. Perfect book to help me get out of a reading slump!
What a fun read about Daemons, tattoos and spice. Nix was badass and Rosie is just hilarious!! When Gin gets his new Daemon Oz it is a euphoric experience…but Rosie riding on Oz’s head like a crown was the cutest.
Hidden witchcraft Hidden daemon Evil government Overseer Romantic connections Overall great story well written! I was hooked and even wanted to slap Gin a few times myself lol
I enjoyed this novel. Love the magical community and the mystery around the MFC. Didn't like the MMC at first, but that's part of what I liked about him cuz by the end I loved him.
I loved Nix and Gin! This whole book was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t put it down when I wasn’t doing housework or anything else. Their story was amazing and I loved the Daemon’s.
I enjoyed the chemistry that not only Rosie and Oz have, but also Nix and Gin. A little spicy but not too crazy. Elise leaves you wanting more with her characters. Thoroughly enjoyed this one!!
This book is the one I had been waiting for, and I freaking loved it! Nix and Gin are now my favorite couple. I can not wait to see what Elise comes up with next.
This is the first time I've been an ARC reader for Elise, but I'd gladly do it again if all her work is this good!
I like the fact that Nix is a strong, independent FMC who runs a successful tattoo shop & uses her magic to help with her work. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Rosie & Oz, they were insanely adorable while providing some much needed lightheartedness to some of the heavier scenes.
I also liked the character development for Gin because you go from hating him at the beginning of the book due to how extremely arrogant & cocky he is to loving him once he gets his Daemon since their relationship is so wholesome.
My only complaint is with the start of Gin & Nix's romance since it really goes against the strong, fiercely independent woman she's described as. Especially since all it took was Gin saving her from a falling tree for her to go from not really being interested to level 5 spice with all the normal relationship building stuff happening after they'd already slept together at least once.
Otherwise, this was definitely a book that I could see myself re-reading multiple times.
