Sun Dance: A Dark Fantasy Horror Novel

Rate this book
THE PLAINS ARE HAUNTED BY A NEW MONSTER—AND THE CARNIVAL MUST FACE IT BEFORE NIGHTFALL.

1952, South Dakota. The Thunder & Shield Traveling Carnival arrives on the prairie expecting ticket sales, not a war. But when Sheriff Peter Hahkota calls on Atlas, Saul, and Carny for help, they discover something far worse than crooked lawmen or Klansmen waiting in the dark.

A wendigo is loose on the reservation—an ancient man-eater born of hunger and human flesh. Mangled bodies litter the plains, and every night the killings spread. No rifle, no fire, no ordinary weapon can stop it.

To fight the horror, the carnival’s guardians must risk Saul, whose pursuit of forbidden magic leads him into a trap; Atlas, whose strength may not be enough against an enemy that cannot die; and Carny, whose scarlet tattoos burn with dangerous power he still doesn’t understand.

Sun Dance is the bone-rattling third entry in the Thunder & Shield series, a blend of pulp heroics, occult horror, and midcentury Americana. Perfect for fans of Robert McCammon, Stephen King’s Cycle of the Werewolf, and supernatural thrillers steeped in folklore and blood.

Gotta Love A Good Wendigo Story

Another great read from Brower. The characters continue to be fun, the action continues to be exciting, and the plot has enough meat to stay interesting. If you enjoyed the first two books you will love this one. It scratched the pulpy monster battle itch quite nicely. I look forward to reading the 4th one whenever it comes out!
