From Priscilla Shirer comes this fervent appeal and invitation to surrender everything to Jesus. To follow Him not just as your Savior but as your priority, your first love, your Lord. To move beyond being a believer to becoming His disciple.
Because there is a difference.
Salvation is a gift of God. It’s free. It’s grace. It’s the cross. Discipleship comes at a high cost. It’s surrender. It’s effort. It’s a daily choice to lay down your life and follow His. Few believers choose this route, but the ones who do will experience the abundance that only the surrendered life can offer. It’s the one choice standing between you and the life of freedom and fulfillment, of peace and purpose you’ve always wanted. I Surrender All is all about making that choice.
The choice that changes everything.
This book will be impossible to simply read because it beckons you to make a decision about the kind of Christian you will be. Prepare to engage, to write, to pray, and be called into a surrendered life. An abundant life. A disciple’s life.
Inspired by the themes of the feature film THE FORGE
Priscilla Shirer is a wife and a mom first. But put a Bible in her hand and a message in her heart and you’ll see why thousands flock to her conferences and dive into her Bible study series’ and books each year.
A graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, Priscilla holds a Master’s degree in Biblical Studies and considers it a privilege to serve believers from every denomination and culture by helping them to know the truths of Scripture intellectually and encouraging them to experience these truths practically by the power of the Holy Spirit.
In addition to Priscilla’s participation in many church and para-church conferences across the globe each year, Going Beyond Ministries hosts AWAKEN – an outreach event in their hometown designed to encourage and mobilize women locally. This free gathering brings together thousands of women from different denominations and backgrounds several times a year in an effort to stir revival.
Going Beyond Ministries also equips believers through books and Bible study resources. Priscilla has authored over a dozen video driven studies for women and teens on a myriad of Biblical characters and topics including Jonah, Gideon, the Exodus, discerning God’s voice, The Armor of God.
Her books include Discerning the Voice of God, God is Able, and two New York Times Bestsellers – The Resolution for Women and Fervent: A Woman’s Battle Plan for Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer, which was named the 2016 Christian Book of the Year. Her latest offering is a 365-day devotional called Awaken: 90 Days with the God Who Speaks. In 2016, Priscilla ventured into the world of children’s publishing with The Prince Warriors, a fiction 4-book series and accompanying 365-day devotional (Unseen) designed to equip tween boys and girls for victory in spiritual warfare.
Priscilla has been married to Jerry for 20 years. Between studying and writing, she spends most of her time cleaning up after (and trying to satisfy the appetites of) their three growing boys – Jackson, Jerry Jr. and Jude.
"Surrender all beloved disciple. All that you are and all that you will be. In Jesus' name. The One who makes surrender worth it. Amen"
The authentic Christian life comes with less than noticeable ways under-the surface where roots run deep in private where we abide with him (pg.61). Reading this book was a timely and convicting read for me. As I continue to surrender areas of my heart and life to Jesus I see how this is the fruit from the true vine. Each chapter I read led me to deep reflection in truth and prayer. And honestly, what the Lord revealed wasn't always pleasant, often times it was ugly and uncomfortable. Nevertheless I surrender the truth of myself. This book forged that path for me. It also helped to read it other like minded believers who are on this same journey of surrender and discipleship. I highly recommend!
Oh my gosh I loved this book soo much! Praying for the grace to surrender every single area of my life!
"There's nothing any follower of Chirst has ever given over to the Lord and fully entrusted to Him, completely relinquishing their control of it, that hasn't eneded up being multiplied exponentially into a life-giving blessing, both in the presend and in the future."
Priscilla Shirer has the gift of communicating hard truth with grace. This book issues an important wake up call for the modern believer, reminding us that discipleship has and will always be our calling as followers of Jesus. Highly recommend!
This book is easy to read but full of deep truths concerning being a disciple of Jesus Christ not just a believer. I was challenged and encouraged to consider my commitment to my faith and surrender all. Priscilla does a wonderful job of telling relatable stories from her own life and faith journey while connecting you to God’s Word and truth. Recommend this book highly!
LET ME TELL YOU!! This took me out in the best way. I highly recommend this for understanding and building discipleship. Priscilla just knows how to break it down to be digestible and edifying at the same time. Loved loved loved this! This is definitely one I'll revisit often.
(Read for small group) Deeply disappointing. When not surface level and repeating the same shallow points ad nauseum, the details reveal a worldview I fundamentally disagree with. At best, this shows just how far my theology and worldview have deviated from mainline evangelicalism. At worst, the book is a lazy repeat of harmful (and, dare I say, sometimes heretical) views we, the church, need to eschew.
Put another way, the core statements of the book (as few as they are), I have no problems with. How Priscilla attempts to expound on them is what I find deeply troubling.
This is a book filled with truth and challenge, beautifully communicated with grace and encouragement. Such a needed reminder and perspective shift. I highly recommend going through this with others. It brought about great discussion and growth in a small group setting. I am going to go through it again with a couple of other friends.
I LOVE Priscilla Shirer! She had some wonderful things to say in and through this book. It didn't grab me and pull me in as much as some of her others have, but it is still a very good book.
What an impactful, encouraging, contemplative, transformative and timely (for me) read. Just finished it so need to digest it as the days go on still , however this is now a forever favorite, 10 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended!
Loved this book. I actually read it as a bible study. The Lord really uses this author to encourage, mentor, and train others, to grow and disciple. Such an encouraging uplifting book.
If you are looking for a feel-good about yourself and a make me feel comfortable about myself book, this is not for you! BUT if you want to turn your life over completely to God and be a real disciple for Jesus, then order this book. Priscilla is honest and cuts to the chase when she writes about the cost of being a disciple. I was so excited for this book because like many I absolutely loved her in the movie War Room. Then I listened to her speak a few times and I just love her honesty and emotion. She isn't about the whole "God wants you to just be happy, so you do you" movement. Thank God for that!! I like honest teachers, those who are not afraid to tell you that there will be a cost and at times it might hurt but it's SO WORTH IT!
Within the first few pages, I went to gather my highlighters because there was so much in this book that I hope to share with others and reflect on myself. While I read this book by myself and there are self-reflection questions at the end of each chapter, this would be a good book to read with other Godly women. Being a disciple requires accountability and being connected with like-minded women.
(4.5) Lots of great nuggets of truth. She is a wise woman who knows the Bible very well! I enjoy her teaching and am always convicted and encouraged by it.
"In seven simple words, Jesus described the key for victorious, fruitful living and pinpointed the primary focus and pursuit of the disciple: Abide in Me. Stay connected to Me. Focus on maintaining your alignment with Me. Our goal is to cultivate a deeper, richer, and more steadfast friendship with the Lord today than we had the day before, staying surrendered to Him, remaining obedient to Him. This is how the door to discipleship suddenly opens wide for us and the drive to follow Him is constantly inspired within us.”
“The sprouting of impressive blooms is not the Gardeners goal for his beaches. He's after the grapes. So the clippers must come out-to prune away unnecessary things, which can be good things, but they're weighing you down and entangling you from bearing the fruit He had in mind when he planted you.”
“Unity does not mean uniformity; it simply means oneness of purpose. And for us— for all of us—our purpose and goal should be the same. We exist to glorify God. We must keep His glory in the forefront, even when we’re not in full agreement on certain details in secondary issues of doctrine or opinion."
"Kindness is love in action. By intention. It requires effort. Peter is telling us, as disciples, to overtly, proactively express and extend kind overtures to others.”
Disclosure: Lifeway Christian Resources provided a product sample for this review. My opinions are 100% my own. Priscilla is a woman of God. Everything she has done can make you feel the Spirit running through your veins. I Surrender All book is no exception! If anything, it will reach in and make the reader see how they can build a lasting relationship with God.
I Surrender All book gives you plenty to think about. It asks hard questions that make people genuinely think about their life choices. It points out how God states we need to surrender to him and give him our all. She provides tons of Biblical passages to help you find your way.
This book would be perfect for a women's Bible study or a book club to discuss and ponder together. It provides plenty of material to discuss and ponder. At the end of each chapter, there is a list of questions and pages to fill in your thoughts.
If you get this book, be prepared to have your toes stepped on. You will feel the holy spirit challenge you, and you will see how right Priscilla is with her teachings.
This book has stirred my soul in ways I did not anticipate. It has become a mirror, reflecting not only the gifts God has entrusted to me, but also the sacred responsibility to steward them for the purpose of discipling others. As I turned its pages, I found myself searching my heart—considering those the Lord has placed in my life as pillars of encouragement and truth, and asking whether I have truly, wholly, and without reservation surrendered my life to Christ.
One of the most profound truths echoed in its message is this: "Everything you desire, everything you need, lies on the other side of surrender." These words resound like a divine call—beckoning me to lay down every ambition, every fear, every plan at the feet of Jesus.
Now, I pray not merely for change, but for complete transformation—a full and unreserved surrender. I trust that as I yield my heart and my will to God, He will continue to mold me, guide me, and call me deeper into the life He has prepared. May His Spirit lead me, and may my life be a living testimony of obedience, trust, and divine purpose.
If we surrender ourselves entirely to God, we think He will disrupt the way of life we have chosen to live. However, if we want everything God has planned for us, we have to surrender all. To surrender your life is an enormous task. It is the only way to find filfullment, contentment and purpose. The author compares human adoption with adoption into God’s family (Ephesians 1:5-6). The old has gone. The new has come. The old life has no hold on you. This is a very inspiring message. It encourages the reader to choose God, to surrender one’s will to the will of God. That is a daily choice that has eternal benefits. I enjoyed this book and felt challenged to surrender my will to The One who surrendered His Will to The Father.
This book is inspired by the themes in the movie The Forge. What does a surrendered life look like? How can a Christian accomplish this feat? Once again, Priscilla Shirer hits the proverbial "nail on the head" as she discusses how to surrender and be a disciple in today's world.
"Discipleship means ALL of Him, interacting with ALL the things we have, and with ALL the things we do, until everything in our life is both informed and impacted by Jesus: the way we think, the way we act, the way we respond and reach out to other people, the way we budget our time and treasures, and the way we make our decisions."
As Christians, may be we the positive influence in the world that Christ wants and this world needs.
This book was a breath of fresh air. It was great to reflect on and was really inspiring. I read one chapter and did the reflection each day. It was easy to understand and really conveyed the message that having faith is not the only way to find God and have a personal relationship with him. We also need to walk the walk. We can say that we know all that we have to do to be a good— pray, go to church, acts of service, love, one another and so on. This is all true, but we can’t just think about these things. We need to get out there and live these things. This book talks about surrendering your life to God and getting out there and acting as his true disciple. It was beautifully written.
📖What I loved most📖 - Each chapter starts with a relevant scripture, walks you through deeper levels of what surrender actually means, and ends with journal prompts to help process all the things
- It’s written in more of a conversation between you and your wise big sis without “Christianese” to where you need a study bible for every page
- The chapters progressively building upon each other and your understanding of surrender (definition of meeting you where you are and taking you somewhere higher)
Highly recommend for anyone thinking about growing in understanding of your faith or wanting to understand YOUR weight in the relationship with Christ. ENJOY 💅🏾✨
As soon as I learned that Priscilla Shirer released a new book, and when I saw the title, I knew it was a must-read. This book was very powerful and walked through how the Christian's life should reflect Jesus in every way. It starts with learning to abide in Him. From there, we keep a keen eye on our words and actions and our impact for the Kingdom. Priscilla's writing style is easy to digest. And she includes numerous personal stories that help make her point. When you read this book, you will be changed and renewed in your walk with the Lord.
Priscilla Shirer is always amazing in how she encourages, inspires, leads, and disciples other Christian women to grow closer to the Lord. I especially enjoyed this book because she left personal, thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter to answer, after she shares much of her heart and experience in life on the topic. 5 star read. It put my heart on fire a little bit. I would recommend it to any Christian woman who feels stagnant in their faith or just needs some inspiration in their walk with Jesus. I got this book as a birthday gift and I loved it.
I loved this book! Whether you’ve been walking in faith for years or you’re just starting out, this is worth reading. The book can be summarized in this sentence from the book, “herein lies the thin line of demarcation that separates the believer from the disciple”, and this book is all about moving from believer to disciple. This book is deep, but practical, and Priscilla does a beautiful weaving in of personal stories. The chapters are longer than I prefer, but honestly, the content is so rich it’s worth it. If you’re ready to grow, this is a solid read.
I knew this book was going to be very insightful. The title alone speaks volumes. My family has a book club. We opened up to to friends as well. Really all are welcome. We meet every other Sunday. We just finished Chapter 7: "Everywhere We Go" powerful message. The entire book 📖 is NECESSARY to the body of Christ.
Furthermore this book is for anyone that has taken a long hard look at self and said, "It's time to do some work."
So we have one more Chapter to read. Woweee a Great eye 👁 opener.

This book is full of wisdom, instruction and encouragement. Priscilla Shirer captures the essence of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. After reading this book, I believe you will feel refreshed, encouraged and charged to surrender all in your pursuit of Jesus Himself and as a result be a wonderful disciple for the Body of Christ and the Lord. 10/10 I recommend. This book should be a staple in everyone’s library. I know I will be referring to it often.
I did really like the writing and content of the book. I think this is a great resource to refer back to when needing encouragement and to recall what it means to surrender everything to Him and live the life of a disciple.
I just haven't been in the mood for non-fiction lately, and the long chapters in this book didn't help.
Gives us encouragement to walk with Jesus, to die to ourselves, so that we may live for Him and disciple others on our journey. This was intentionally written for the believer to sit with Jesus and know Him. Praying this good word penetrates deeply into my life and becomes an outpouring of the Good News.
A must read!!! I can’t even put into words all of the things in this book. Priscilla has such a gift at communicating and breaking things down! Praying I can surrender all parts of my life every day to our gracious loving God! Grab a coffee and your Bible and snuggle up with this one! Then go listen to Priscilla on Candace Cameron Bure’s podcast. :) All life changing.
