“There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you, Hayden. Nothing.”
All I wanted was to be home in my pajamas… instead, I’m at a club with my best friend.
When she bets me I won’t talk to the leather-wearing snack on the dance floor, I hop off my high-horse to prove her wrong.
The next thing I know, I’m kissing a bad-boy biker in the dark.
Bones makes me want to throw out my good-girl rulebook…and my panties too. He doesn’t belong in my world, but when I see Bones in a tuxedo charming my upper-class, matchmaking mother, I start to think he and I could have a future together.
But then there’s an attempt on my life. Now I’ll have to marry a man from the wrong side of the tracks for protection...
I never asked him to make the ultimate sacrifice, but to keep me alive, that’s just what my Tarnished Angel is willing to do…

I was actually pretty disappointed in this book. I absolutely love this series and couldn't wait for this 7th installment. While I loved Bones, Hayden was so incredibly annoying. I don't feel like there was any true character development for her. She came out of her shell a little yea, but she was still mostly the uptight annoying blue blood she was in the beginning. Bones deserved better.
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trope: opposites attract; opposite sides of the track Angst: 😱😱1/2 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥1/2
Definitely going in my faves of 2024 pile! I love a good opposites attract story and a heiress with a biker totally checked all my boxes. There really wasn't anything I didn't love about this story: I laughed, I cried, and got a couple of plot twists I totally didn't see coming. I absolutely loved Hayden. Her struggles were really relatable to me and I think it made me love the story that much more. Bones was definitely all in and she totally made him work for it, lol. Leather and Lies is probably my favorite book in the series and that's saying a lot since Wreck and Ruin has been a multiple reread for me. I'm really hoping we get a Savage/Charlie book, but I guess I'll have to wait and see where Emma takes us next!
I wanted so much to like this book and this series. The first 2 books were some of the best books I have read in a while! Every book to come out I’ve been wanted to get that same feeling I got when I read those but I just haven’t been. This book was so close so it’s by far my 3rd favorite. I get that the MC is moving into the legitimate business direction but I miss the chaos and drama. I really wish these books were dual point of view so we could get the in and outs of the club. It frustrates me when women can’t know what’s going on in the club. I get it, it’s adds to the plot. But as a reader, I want to know! The drama that happened in this book wasnt very long and pretty much concluded in a paragraph. The spice is great once I get used to the insta love but I don’t blame the book for that, insta love just isn’t my thing sometimes. If it wasn’t an MC book I would think it was a good romance book. But I want the drama and chaos/violence that comes with the MC!
This book has everything we have come to love about the Tarnished Angels MC. Big 'touch her and I'll kill you' guy, strong woman with a whole interesting life, big found family vibes, he falls first and they fall hard, and so many sweet moments.
Hayden is an heiress and Bones is.....Bones. But he is up to a challenge and will do whatever it to makes to protect her, from attempts on her life or society matrons. He is also so funny and maybe should go be a therapist? She rescues pets by matching them to local seniors using her Spidey sense, it's adorable. The whole time this health thing is building and I was just WAITING for him to find out and be so overly overprotective. He obviously delivers.
I love seeing my old faves living (mostly) happily. Especially Duke and Willa and some of the new people. It kind of felt like a 'changing of the guard's when some newer characters were the more featured background characters and others were just "home with their families". I will say, I was confused a few times....there are almost too many side characters to remember at this point (BUT I LOVE THEM ALL!) Also worth noting that I just realized that for such a private group, these people share SO many details with strangers. That's so odd to me.
These books totally have the power to tear out my heart, and deliver every time. I am *worried* IS THIS THE END?!?! I need Savages book. And maybe another mafia spin off?
**I don't know that I have EVER been more excited to receive an ARC. Thanks to Emma Slate and her team for the copy for review!**
This is the first in this series that was disappointing to me. (Spoliers)
If thought it was not in line with the feeling of the other stories. * The fact that the club is going legal is not a good thing for the angst and excitement in the stories. * I was missing a lot of the family and brotherhood feelings from the other stories. * The fact that Bones quit the club was a wrong choice from the author and completely unnecessary because She had quit her ceo function and wasn't in danger anymore. Bones was already restless because the club went legal so to quit was a strange decision.
I didn't like 'Dutches' character on a few points. * The way she was judging the old ladies about the way they were handling the death of Darcy. * Having all that money and your purpose in live is connecting elderly with stray dogs because that is your 'gift'? Come on...with all the poverty and womans abuse going on in earlier books? * I thought she was very ungrateful for all the things the old ladies were doing for her and she was very distant with them. In my opinion not old lady material. *She didn't make any afford to understand the way the club worked, judged everything the old ladies told her about club live. * A true old lady had prevented her husband from stepping away from the MC.
So no, i didn't like this one and i hope the next one is better.
This one did it…lost all excitement for this series. Hated every character in this story. Hayden is the biggest piece of wet toilet paper I have ever read. Mystery illness, my ass. The Old Ladies are Uber-intrusive; I wouldn’t want to know them. Charlie is a crass mouthed, sex fiend who can’t make a decision to save her life. And Bones? WTH does he see in her?? How does her complicated life MAKE HIM HAPPY?!!
I feel like the author is grasping at straws to keep this series going, and while I have enjoyed the series up to this point, it is starting to become very repetitive.
— age gap — good girl/bad boy — opposites — alpha MMC — banter!
I’ve said it before, but I cannot get enough of the Tarnished Angels world. I love every single character, and there isn’t a side character who I’m not hoping gets their own story. I just need to know more about everyone! But especially Savage, Acid, the Jackson siblings, Logan’s brothers! Ugh just everyone
Hayden is a straight laced, rich girl, and she’s an introvert who prefers being at home. Her best friend drags her out to a club one night and badgers Hayden that she won’t go up to the hot biker in the bar. One hot kiss later, and Bones is hooked.
“Good night, Bad Decision.”
“My name is Bones. But close enough.”
Why am I already so giddy at like 3%?! The banter with these two was top tier.
Unwavering loyalty is built into these Tarnished Angels DNA so once Bones knows he wants Hayden he is all in. She doesn’t quite give in to his charms right away though.
I absolutely loved these two! Bones is strong, loyal, and completely dedicated to his woman. I liked Hayden, but she was a bit uptight sometimes. Bones was so laid back and easygoing. They were opposites in every way, but it’s what made them work so well together.
And that ending 🥺💙
Highly recommend this entire series if you love MC romance with men who are fiercely loyal, protective and have the dirtiest mouths 🥵
I kindly received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
From the moment I started this book, I couldn’t put it down!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Book 7 of the Tarnished Angels series, Leather & Lies is about Bones and Hayden. They meet at a club but run into each other a few times after as well. Until tragedy strikes and Bones refuses to leave Hayden’s side. He inserts himself in her upscale life and protects her along the way.
I can honestly say the end threw me for a loop, at least parts of it. This was another fantastic book by Emma Slate with lots of twists and turns. She packs so much meat into her books, it’s like you are there. The men are burly, possessive, and protective. Bones was no exception. In the last book, we got to see him be a jokester, but here we see other sides as well. Hayden, like most of the heroines was fun to watch as he claims her.
Lots of emotion in this book. And I can’t wait to read what happens next.
Book Review: First let me start with that I have read the other 6 books (that I purchased) before becoming an ARC reader for this Author.
@emmaslateauthor is the queen of creating this world of Loyal, Alpha Male, Tough, MC MEN! These men are hot 🥵. If the touch her and die didn’t get you then their dirty talking mouths will……
Bones and Hayden have a whirlwind romance and in an effort to ensure her safety…..Bones marries Hayden and fully enters her world! Hayden’s world doesn’t hold any less danger though than what the Tarnished Angels MC world does.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Pick up your copy 5/1/24
**spoiler** Do not read if you have not read the book…
Bones will give up everything to be with Hayden. I’m a little sad to see Bones give up his role in the club…..but I can understand the need for it.

Forever going to be obsessed with the Tarnished Angels MC. The bad boy/good girl vibe between Bones & Hayden was perfect. I’m so sad I finished the series to date but can’t wait for book #8 in 2025!
I pretty much love all of Emma's books. Her Tarnished Angels series is something I always look forward to and am honored to receive ARC copies.
I loved Bones & Hayden's story. It's always so nice when Emma intertwines her worlds and it was so refreshing to see a few familiar faces come back from the SINS side. Lots of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend this one as I read it in one day; well it's after midnight, so i guess it's a day and an hour. It was the perfect way to recover after surgery lol.
I can't wait to see what's next for the Tarnished Angels. 🖤
Emma did it again! I was lucky to be apart of the ARC team for this fantastic book. I loved the dynamic between Bones and Hayden. They are from different worlds but make it work! Bones knew Hayden was his, but she definitely made him work for it, as she should! I also loved Charlie, Hayden’s best friend and I hope we get to see more of her! It was great to see some of our beloved characters pop in through it this book. Oh Savage what are we going to do with you?
The ending ruined the whole book for me. It's a motorcycle club book, he's not supposed to quit the fucking club at the end! I love Bones but I feel like he ended up just giving up his entire life for Hayden and absolutely nothing changed for her. She married a biker so I don't get why he would stop being a biker at the end. It just made me angry and ruined everything I had just read. It made me reevaluate their relationship in a negative way and I hate that cause they were cute for a while.

I enjoy this series and love the characters in this world, but this book was a little disappointing to me. The romance between the characters was cute, but honestly it kinda feels like a couple that would fall apart a few years down the line. The FMC didn’t show a lot of growth, and the MMC pretty much threw everything away to be with her and join her world. He goes from saying (towards the end of the book so it’s not even an early thought!) he’s in underground fights because he’s unhappy with how the MC is going and he misses the “dirty” work…and then he quits the MC to be a fancy society husband?! I just don’t get that. I don’t follow the logic. I do see that it’s his sacrifice to make to be with her, but seems like there should have been more middle ground in the relationship. Not my favorite in this series. I will keep reading subsequent books though because I love the supporting characters.

I’ve enjoyed this series. Typically the ending is predictable but the journey is exciting and sexy enough I don’t care. But this one….Bones was fantastic. Hayden wasn’t. I enjoyed her coming out of her shell and the banter. But in every other book the club is so important. We hang out with everyone at BBQs and get peeks into the other members business. But with the club going legit it felt stale. Hayden was pretty judgmental and the rich girl spending her days doing nothing made her uninteresting.
SPOILER* The fact that Bones left the club is disappointing. If Hayden was truly an old lady she wouldn’t have let him do that for her. The author could’ve done so many things that would’ve kept him with his MC and family. Overall a very disappointing end.

This was disappointing for an Emma Slate Tarnished Angels book. The story was kind of boring and zero chemistry between the MC. I liked Bones, but couldn’t buy into h having any feelings for Bones. Also he is 39 in the book, but came across much younger.
I found the Tarnished Angels (TA) series by way of a great ad on Instagram, and I'll always be glad I followed the link because I've been hooked ever since. Emma keeps building the TA world with each new release, and whilst they can all be read as a standalone, the characters and backstories are all interwoven with a deft touch that enhances the reading experience as you progress through them all.
Emma's writing voice is a delight to read, and the banter some of her characters have is just *chef kiss. I've grown up with a few bikies in my life so the conversations, the loyalty, the protectiveness all feel entirely natural, and I just love that. There's nothing stereotyped about these guys which makes me appreciate her style all the more.
Bonus points for interweaving the Sinners characters into this story. That was a discovery that had me squealing on the inside! I'm also really taken with the way Emma is addressing the different path that the club has been taking in terms of what business they're in. There was always going to be some struggle around that with some of the members but again, loyalty is what's keeping them together, but cracks are going to start showing.
Now to the characters *happy sigh
Hayden & Bones: What a fantastic combination they are. Both have painful histories (who doesn't?) and the way they find their way together is fantastic. No melodrama, no miscommunication, just realistic people trying to navigate their way through what life is throwing at them to find a way to be together.
Best friend Charlie: Oh she's great. The bored, spoiled and loyal rich girl. Her insecurity and vulnerability is conveyed in subtle conversations and behaviours through the book, and she's one that I'm interested in, which of course leads me to ...
Savage: Oh my boy. In the fullness of time I'd like to think he's going to get a book, but I figure he's being must as mysterious with Emma as he is with the characters in the series. There's a fascinating back story there, the golden retriever who can turn hellhound when provoked, the easy teflon way with women, there's just so much to this guy, but I'm patient. I can wait. Kinda. **side eye at author**
The Old Ladies & their men: I fkn LOVE this group of people. They all know each other's strengths and weakness, they'll poke the bear when they have to if it means making sure they take action, they tease, they encourage, and the found family loyalty just can't be beat.
But back to the book. I can see similarities with Hayden and Doc in that they both come from money, so there's always going to be that cultural divide, but that's something that they bridge with authenticity. They'll always have a different perspective in some areas but their own emotional availability and the support they get from the TA is what fulfils them, and it's all to the better. There really is something about a bunch of big hulking bikers falling hard and fast for their women. It's become a club legend for them all now, and I'm HERE for it.
Long story short, this book might be the new favourite in the series. Sure I'm a loyal fangirl, but I don't say this for the sake of it, because the writing and the quality of story backs it all up. I devoured this book in one sitting, and then I'm going to go back, re-read and enjoy at a more leisurely pace, because as soon as I got to the end of this one my immediate response was MORE PLEASE.
No pressure, Emma. (But really, starting writing another one NOW)
I’ve loved this series, and looked forward to each new release. So I was super disappointed that for the first half of the book, I wasn’t enjoying this one and was anxiously looking forward to the ending. I usually plow through a read in no time, and this one took me forever because I kept distracting myself with other things just to take a break. That being said, once I got past the halfway or so point, things changed and I loved it. I’ve ended it now with all the love I expected to have for a book in this series. So just know going in- if you find yourself struggling like I did, keep pushing on. It’s worth it.
This book is Hayden and Bones’ story. She’s a strait laced, prim and proper, stick up her butt prudish princess….. and he is everything opposite.
This book is told from Hayden’s POV, which made it a bit of a rough start for me to get in to. She’s the rich girl in this opposites attract couple. And honestly, rich girl problems aren’t my thing. I can’t stand the people that let their parents bulldoze them just because that’s what’s expected. I can’t imagine going to family dinners that I know are going to be horrendous, or just rolling over and letting my mother basically pimp me out to whomever she has decided is an “acceptable” match … and just not saying anything 🙄🙄 Ewww.
Rich girl problems just don’t do it for me. Her bff Charlie is the self proclaimed rebel of the two of them, pushing against her parent’s expectations anyway she can. Only when Hayden suggests Charlie really isn’t all that bothered by them since she’s living rent free in their pool house, she’s horrified by the idea of moving out or getting a job 🙄🙄 sorry, can’t sympathize with rich girl drama.
So the struggle for me was that Hayden was hard to like. I wasn’t really sure why Bones was so intent on pursuing her, as he was amazing and she was so not. He was all-in (in true Tarnished Angels form) from the beginning, she just took a while to catch up. It was a rough road for sure. I ended the book with feeling better about her- but I still can’t say she’s my favorite person. I do believe their relationship though, and felt much better about the book as it progressed so I call that a win.
Overall- I have enjoyed this series. Love, laughs, tears and all. And there are plenty of all of those in this book. We see the whole Tarnished Angels family in those book, which is always a good thing. There is a big loss, but the family pulls together as always.
SUMMARY: All Hayden Spender wanted was to be home in her pajamas instead she's at a club with her best friend. REVIEW: Leather & Lies was such fun to read after the waiting several months since the last book in the series. Hayden comes from a different world than Bones but they compliment each other in such a way that falling in love was just that easy though sometimes had a few bumps in the road. A very heartwarming moment to read was when Bones had given Hayden his really name since Bikers usually go by their road names. At that moment it had really became serious between Hayden and Bones.
A very heart wrenching moment had been when everyone found out that Darcy had died in a car accident with Cam and Lily in very critical conditions. It felt awful since Darcy had been thru so much to have it end like that for her. The gut wrenching moment of reading about the sudden death of Darcy who had changed so much since the death of her husband had me almost cry. Darcy had changed from such a happy woman to a bitter woman that used alcohol to try to numb the pain of her loss. It made it so much more gut wrenching to find out later on that before Darcy died she had been on the road to recovery with her choosing to give up drinking.
Hayden and Bones love story had me on an emotional roller-coaster that I had so much fun reading. That twist ending was perfectly unexpected but just right for Bones at that point in his life now that he had found his woman Hayden. I obviously had to read the bonus read which was just a good enough glimpse into Hayden and Bones lives after five years that made me confirm that Bones made the right decision at the end of Leather & Lies.
Leather & Lies is book 7 in the Tarnished Angels series. Emma really knocked it out of the park with this one.
Hayden is an uber rich society girl who meets Bones one night at a club and they are attracted to each other, but nothing comes of it. Thinking she will never see him again she is surprised when she runs into him again and again. Bones just keeps popping up in Hayden’s life and she doesn’t quite know what to do with him. On the one hand he’s super sexy and a bad boy that she’d love to be with but on the other hand she’s been living half a life for the past three years and is afraid to step out of the shadows and into the sun again.
Bones, much like the other Tarnished Angels was all in with Hayden fairly quickly, but Hayden was reserved due to several things in her life keeping her from committing to a relationship with him. I loved the way Bones didn’t care about Hayden’s money and had a happy childhood. Not all bikers need to come from a background where they were poor, abandoned or abused like so many bikers do. It was a nice change. I did want to know what happened to his family and why they weren’t in the picture though.
Hayden and Bones have a fantastic chemistry that follows through the book; from their initial kiss in the dark, to the sexy times, to the little intimate moments they share together. The protectiveness that Bones shows when he’s not only concerned for her safety but also her health is very heartwarming. He also doesn’t have any misplaced jealousy, which is refreshing. Bones treats Hayden like a princess.
Hayden isn’t your typical heiress, she’s not a spoiled little rich girl used to lounging around doing nothing but shopping and getting mani-pedis. She’s out helping people and animals and has a true gift she shares with others. She has a few moments of pigheadedness when it comes to “club” matters as she has a right to, but over all she shows a lot of maturity for a 25 year old woman.
Emma sprinkled lots of little nuggets of information in the book that led to an aha moment later on [for me anyway] as part of an underlying storyline in the book. It all comes to a head with a surprising conclusion in the epilogue.
I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to see what is in store for Charlie, Hayden’s BFF as well as Savage, the brother who breaks all the ladies hearts.
