Jan Costa and a few fellow veterans of the long war between their Republic and the Leyra'an have settled into a new life. Costa manages a space station, on which his former crew serve as security agents. Life is peaceful for these war-weary men and women, until the RDF Richmond docks and accidentally releases an alien life form. Told that the creature is dangerous, they track it down. But they soon realize the Captain of the Richmond hasn't told them everything, and what they seek isn't exactly what they were told to find.
I am a writer living in the Sonoran Desert of the American Southwest, to which I relocated from my childhood home in Illinois. I have a B.S. in plant biology from the University of Arizona, and have in the past worked as a laboratory technician for that institution. Most recently I worked for Steward Observatory, as an inventory coordinator. Among other things, I am also a student of history, natural history, astronomy, and backyard horticulture.
This is the second short I have read from this author and he did not disappoint. The pace, the action, the characters, this is another fun read. I got sucked right into it. I just wanted more. I wish it was longer but I knew that going into it.
