When faced with fight or flight, Silicon Valley marketing executive Tania Beecher always picks flight. Whether riding out a panic attack under her weighted blanket or self-medicating with a good merlot, she’s never seen the point of feeling her feelings if she can avoid them.
Overcome with anxiety at a corporate retreat in Yosemite, Tania flees, only to get caught in a sudden snowstorm. She’s rescued by Nolan Wells, a free spirit who happens to be the best rock climber in the world. After spending the night in his van, she finds herself drawn to his serene self-assurance—even more than his chiseled body.
Inspired by Nolan’s outlook on life, Tania decides hers needs a major reset. Motivated to finally take her company’s six-week sabbatical so she can figure out her future—and whether she and Nolan have one together—Tania falls headfirst into the great outdoors.
At first, it’s a welcome reprieve to climb granite instead of the corporate ladder. But after discovering Nolan’s death-defying secret, Tania must confront her fears head-on and determine whether the reward of loving Nolan is worth the risk of losing him.
Adrenaline junkies and indoor cats alike will want to strap in to this opposites-attract rom-com that proves love is the most exciting adventure of all.

I really loved the themes of this book, because it felt like it was talking directly to me. A book about a 30 something who has climbed the corporate ladder incredibly quickly, partially to impress her parents, and is now in a constant state of wondering whether it’s all worth it? Who has crippling anxiety, which causes imposter syndrome and self sabotage? Who falls in love with the man who spends every day focused around the thing he loves the most because he refused to conform to societal and parental expectations? It’s my story, except with rock climbing instead of trail running.
I also loved the setting. Yosemite is one of those places that will change your life if you let it. So I love seeing others appreciate its grandeur. If you loved You with a View, check out Love on the Rocks.
And I love, love, love a shy, recluse of a MMC, especially when they’re so ripped they make it in the body issue of Sports Illustrated! Fun little romcom!
This was a fun story set in the same universe as Jarrett's first book, although you don't need to have read that to enjoy this one. The climbing aspect was interesting as it is quite a unique storyline and it adds jeopardy in a realistic way. It was fun to learn about this sport with Tania without feeling like you were reading a manual. I felt like the relationship was quite unrealistic but I was rooting for them anyway. If you enjoyed Love Apptually, you'll enjoy this. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this eArc in exchange for an honest review.
This witty story was right up my alley being from Northern California. I have friends on both sides of this relationship - granola loving, weekend warrior, REI wearing… and corporate hand-cuffed, spa day pampered corporate, purse first type… I appreciated the opposites attract-ness of it all!
What I Loved Most:
Alyssa Jarett’s humor is so witty! Especially in relation to being a millennial. I feel like I’m in on an inside joke when it comes to some of the references, but I know they are broader than I realize. It still makes me feel smart, so thank you!
Hammy! I love that Tania’s anxiety is a hamster, with a name. It really added to the mental health element of this story. Who hasn’t argued with the anxious hamster spinning inside their head?! Anxiety rep perfection.
The story was paced with clips of blog posts, reddit feed, texts with therapist, work chat, search history… and it was a fun way to get more information and stay true to the techie connection to the story (even when the FMC is pooping in the woods).
Favorite Quotes:
“There’s no way you’re achieving self-actualization without sushi delivery and fiber internet.”
“Alright, that was a good one. Nolan’s got that dark sense of humor I like. Nothing gets me going like a guy in therapy.”
“Meet me in the lobby in ten, and go change into some outdoor-appropriate attire, will you? Nobody ever made a convincing argument in Uggs.”
If you’re looking for a cozy read with the perfect amount of spice, a light rock climbing lingo lesson, and lots of giggles, you should 100% read this book!
Thank you to Alyssa Jarrett and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC and offer an honest review.
Love on the Rocks offers a refreshing take on romance with a protagonist who is open about her struggles with anxiety. Tania's honest depiction of her anxious thoughts adds a layer of depth and relatability, making her journey both engaging and empathetic. The book's wit and humor infuse it with charm, and the detailed explanations of climbing techniques are a fun nod to climbers or those interested in the sport,
As a Central Valley native, I appreciated the book’s affectionate nods to the Bay Area and the Valley, which added a layer of personal connection. However, the integration of climbing references into intimate scenes felt forced at times. While the climbing theme is central to the story, these moments might have benefited from a more subtle approach.
Noah Wells’s character brings a certain allure to the narrative. His dialogue, particularly in bed, is captivating and adds an interesting dynamic. However, the book leaves readers craving more insight into Tania & Noah's evolving relationship over the weeks. While both characters are well-developed, additional chapters exploring their bond in greater depth would have really engrossed me more.
Overall, Love on the Rocks is a witty and heartfelt exploration of relationships and personal growth, with a unique climbing backdrop. Despite a few hiccups, its charm and relatable characters make it a worthwhile read. Thank you NetGalley & Alyssa Jarrett for the chance to read this E-Arc!

This spring I got the chance to read Alyssa Jarrett’s fun and cheeky debut novel, Love Apptually. When news came out she was releasing another book in the Glam Fam series, I immediately applied for an ARC when applications opened and was not disappointed.
I just finished Love on the Rocks and really enjoyed it! I already loved Tania from her features in the first book and Nolan is such a dreamy MMC. I also enjoyed learning more about rock climbing, I’ve always been fascinated by it but never tried. Tania’s millennial struggle is so relatable, and this book is perfect for anyone who has ever questioned their path in life.
Thank you to Alyssa Jarrett for the ARC of this book!
Thank you Alyssa for the ARC of Love On The Rocks! I really enjoyed this story. The characters were great, their attraction and chemistry were so well written I was immediately invested in these two. Tania’s anxiety (love to Hammy) is so relatable. I love that the anxiety felt like another character within the book. Also always appreciate a child free by choice rep!!!This book overall was well paced, well written, fun and entertaining. I was laughing and crying and so immersed in these two I was rooting so hard for them. This was really a great read!!! Highly recommend!
I’ve never read a rock climbing romance before. It was interesting to hear a bit about it! I appreciated how short this book was, though as a result it was pretty insta love. I didn’t totally love the romance between the main characters as I am not sure I feel they would make it from what we read.
😊 strangers to lovers 🧲 opposites attract 🩷 insta love 🧗 rock climbing ✨ childfree by choice
this book was good, just very very slow. the first few chapters of meeting Nolan took up a fourth of the entire book, and I still felt like I didn’t know the characters very well at that point.
Tania is a techie with major anxiety and happens upon Nolan in a storm on a winter work retreat in Yosemite. They have a bit of an insta connection after a odd meet. Tania is all luxury and comfort while Nolan is simplistic and an adrenaline junkie. This is all told in Tania's POV. Throughout you get to also see Tania's anxious thoughts who she calls Hammy as she's trying to navigate through her life.
I was a little confused at first by the exerpts at the end of each chapter. But once I started getting a feel for Nolan, I realized they were posts and blogs from the rock climbing community along with some of Tania's texts and Google searches. The text and Google exerpts and some of the blog posts I understood but some, like the sisters blog post felt a little irrelevant to me.
While some of those things didn't add to the story for me, Tania's rampant thoughts really resonated. The fact that your mind is basically pitted against you sometimes to the point of paralysis or self destruction felt so accurate. Every little nuance from a persons expression can make your thoughts go wild even when you don't want them to. I felt the anxiety and some of the pain of dealing with it as I read. Tania came a long way throughout the story. Although she's a fictional character I was so proud of her growth. It made me reflect a bit on my own life.
Her relationship with Nolan was so cute. He was such a sweetheart and so clueless sometimes it was adorable. But Nolan was not perfect. He was very much one track minded but he tried too. Out of all the side characters in her story Tania's brother was my favorite. I didn't get to see much of him in the story but the small parts that included him made me love him! Shannon also grew on me. The glam fam, as sweet and supportive as they were did get on my nerves.
Even though this is a story of Tania meeting Nolan and romance and such this book for me felt like Tania's personal growth through her mental illness. I also loved that even in the end the anxiety didn't just magically go away it was just managed better because a lot of mental illnesses are unfortunately stuck with us and the representation of that felt enlightening.
2.5, rounded up to 3 because this is an indie author and I want to support their work. The prose itself was well-written, with some beautiful descriptors. I enjoyed the random epistolary bits with Google searches and texts. It is clear the author did her research on rock climbing. But that was not enough to save this book.
First issue can be summed up in two words: anxiety hamster. Don't get me wrong, my anxiety often feels like an extra voice in my head. It will condescendingly call me Laur-Laur. But the fact that she NAMED the voice in her head Hammy? And that she talks to it like it's a real hamster? It honestly made me cringe on behalf of her therapist. Not to mention that he takes up as much, if not more, real estate in the book than the actual romantic interest.
Second issue: these two were so unbelievably incompatible. It's one thing to write an opposites-attract. But this was just off-the-charts. First of all, Tania almost KILLS HIM because she was on her phone while belaying for him. How do you get past that in a relationship? You don't. At least Tania makes an effort to meet Nolan where he is - she learns to climb, she goes vegan, she roughs it in his van. He doesn't make a single effort to work with her with the exception of climbing smaller walls. That's IT. It's not just anxiety brain that made her hide in the bathroom to do work, it was a fundamental incompatibility. The spice was good, but that can't be enough for a relationship, right?
Third issue: the sheer number of climbing references during sex. It's an ick.
Last notes: I appreciated how inventive this book was. To focus on rock climbing was a wonderful move, and it is clear that the author was passionate about her research. This is the second book in the series, but you can easily read it without reading the first one (I didn't read the first one). The author has a clear future in writing, but these characters and this book just aren't it.
Thank you to the author for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you @authoralyssajarrett for the ARC!! I absolutely adored it.
This book is so strikingly funny, I would akin it to Emily Henry's style of humor. Many might not feel that way, but in my eyes, the two humors felt so similar. This is high compliment because if you know me, you know Emily Henry is one of my favorite authors of all time. However, if you read this and don't feel the same, don't be disappointed, because this book still shines through other facets!
I loved Tania's character, and I feel that everyone will be able to relate to at least one part of her personality. Her mental anxiety hamster (Hammy) resonated with me so much. All of her thought processes are things that I go through everyday, and that was so nice to see.
I adored Nolan and his sweetness. That man deserves the world.
THIS MIGHT BE A SPOILER SO TREAD CAREFULLY.
The third act "almost" breakup was actually nicely done. I hate almost every third act breakups, but this one made sense because it wasn't a full-on breakup, but a sensible, meaningful break.
In conclusion, Alyssa Jarrett you are a maestro, because on top of loving this book, you also somehow made me want to go rock climbing. I hate sweating and heights and close proximity to all things nature scare me, so go figure. Tania and I are kin in ways I never thought I would see in characters unless they were labeled "cold and unfeeling" so this is refreshing.
Go pre-order Love on the Rocks because wow this was worth it! One of the rare sports romance books that actually give suitable attention to the sport, but also develops the romance in real-life, meaningful ways.
I should have known Love on the Rocks wouldn't be for me before the story even began. Let me explain. The "on free soloing" page just after the content notes talks not only about how free soloing is dangerous and not to try it at home (good) but also about how some stuff about it in this story weren't actually possible and made up for the plot (bad). I really dislike when authors take liberties with things as big as what is and isn't physically possible when it comes to a major theme they chose to use in their story. Plus, what this ended up referring to specifically in Love on the Rocks wasn't even really all that necessary to fabricate. In my opinion, a good author can make a story exciting without making stuff up or being inaccurate. This may not matter to other readers, but it does for me.
Despite all of that, I gave it a chance, hoping the story would make the inaccuracies feel irrelevant. On the surface, it a story I normally would really like, so I was disappointed when I ultimately didn't. The relationship between Tania and Nolan develops a bit too quickly—and I don't even mind insta-love all that much if done right. The frequent climbing references, especially during intimate scenes, come across as overkill, and the inclusion of the climbing articles felt kind of out of place and irrelevant. It might be a good choice for those interested in a quick, outdoorsy romance but not so much for anyone looking for anything more than that.
Thanks to NetGalley for giving me this advanced copy to read and review!
Thank you Net Galley, Victory Editing and Alyssa Jarrett for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This story is about Tania, an ultra-successful marketer who works for a tech start up in Silicon Valley and Noah Wells, the best rock climber in the world. They have the ultimate meet-cute, and afterward, they can't stop thinking about each other.
As they get to know each other, we find out about Noah's relationship with his family (toxic parents) and Tania's family and glam fam friends. (I didn't read the first glam-fam book, and this book was great as a stand-alone.)
Tania's anxiety makes regular appearances in the book, and the author represents it with care and accuracy. She calls her anxiety Hammy, the hamster that's always running on the spinning wheel inside her brain. She has a great relationship with her therapist, and by some of the things Nolan says, she can tell he's been to therapy, which is a turn-on for her. I love that they're both still working on themselves as individuals while also being open to loving each other.
Overall, I liked the story and the MCs had great chemistry with some spice. They had challenges to overcome, as is always the case in the opposites attract trope. I didn't like how Tania wouldn't voice her opinion when she wasn't enjoying climbing herself. It just didn't fit in with her character. I also didn't love the ending. It wraps everything up in a nice bow, which is why we read romances, but Nolan's goal and his free soloing really freaked me out. I can't say more without spoilers.
This is the second book of the Glam Fam series. The story is a blend of romantic tension, personal growth, and breathtaking adventure. Tania is a Silicon Valley marketing executive with a penchant for avoidance. She will dodge and keep far away from any type of risk, if possible. But when a snowstorm strands her in Yosemite and she finds herself saved by the world’s best rock climber, Nolan Wells, Tania’s orderly, anxiety-riddled life takes an unexpected detour into uncharted emotional territory.
The chemistry between Tania and Nolan is palpable, crackling with the tension of opposites who complement one another in surprising ways. It was lovely to see Tania’s journey from corporate burnout to someone willing to embrace the unpredictable and terrifyingly real. Nolan, with his serene wisdom and thrilling lifestyle, serves as the perfect foil for Tania’s tendencies to avoid risks.
The story was well-written, providing the right balance between humor, emotional depth, and high-stakes romance. Tania’s struggles with anxiety and fear feel authentic and deeply human, making her victories all the more rewarding.
The author does a lovely job with vivid descriptions of Yosemite’s natural beauty, completely immersing readers in the setting. This is a rom-com filled with heart, humor, and a reminder that the most rewarding adventures often happen when you step out of your comfort zone. Glad to have had the opportunity to read this!
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
After being rescued in a snowstorm by world-renowned climber Nolan Wells, Tania Beecher decides to quit her job and spend 6 weeks with Nolan while trying to figure out her next move.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was drawn to the premise of this book and I really enjoyed the emotional vulnerability and openness the characters displayed. Tania’s anxiety was relatable and I loved the open, honest conversations between Tania and Nolan.
However, this book also fell flat for me in several areas:
- I thought their relationship progressed way too quickly. They often mentioned how much chemistry they had, but tbh, I didn’t see it. Even their first meeting didn’t feel like there was anything special between them.
- TOO MANY climbing references! I get that rock climbing plays a big role in this book, but using climbing terms during intimate scenes was super cringey and too much for me. Also the chapters were interspersed with online climbing articles that sometimes didn’t relate to the plot at all and didn’t do much to enhance the plot either.
- This book was marketed as “Free Solo but sexier.” I took that to mean that it was inspired by Free Solo, but several plot points and entire sentences were basically copied and pasted from the documentary.
Overall, I really wanted to like this book because the premise was intriguing and it looked like it was going to be a fun read, but it just wasn’t for me.
Thank you NetGalley for gifting me a copy of this book.
In this book, we are following Tania who works in the leader of the marketing team of a company (Habituall) that just decided to go on a retreat. Our main character Tania leaves an evening that her team was having and ends up meeting a guy who lives won his van- Nolan Wells, a well-known rock-climber, but Tania does not know that. She will discover that she is in great need of a sabbatical and will take the opportunity to find out more about herself and this Nolan Wells.
I loved this book. It was my first time reading about rock-climbing, so the whole vocabulary and everything was new to me (but it was also new to Tania so I was learning everything alongside her which was nice).
Anxiety is in my opinion very well represented in this book. It’s in the form of someone that Tania named Hammy and u found it confusing at first but then I just saw that it was just something that we do experience. We hear this voice in our head and this voice could have a name. It is a way to show that anxiety is real.
The mixed media in this book was also great. There were texts to her therapist, articles, work messages, and other things.
The chapters were not too long and the book was written at the first person narrative. There was also not really miscommunication which is quite rare in romances.
I received a digital ARC of this book. This is the 2nd book in the series, and could technically be read as a stand alone, but the female lead is a side character in book 1, and all the characters from book 1 are side characters in this book.... so just read them in order :) Tania is VP of marketing at a Tech startup, they are currently in Yosemite at their staff retreat. She decides to get out and get some fresh air, but then it starts snowing and she is lost. Nolan is a famous rock climber living in a van in the Yosemite Valley and he literally has to save Tania's life before she walks off a cliff. Forced to spend the night in Nolan's van because of all the recent snowfall, Tania can't believe this gorgeous man saved her life. She's definitely attracted, but there's no way he would be in her. Plus, he lives in a van in Yosemite and she lives in the SF bay. A month later Nolan's the speaker at their company and he won't stop looking at her, then proceeds to ask her on a date. Can a self proclaimed couch potato and a professional rock climber have a chance? I didn't want to stop reading this story. You will route for Tania and Nolan to figure things out and get their HEA ending. There are trigger warnings listed in the beginning of the book. Alyssa Jarrett does a great job of developing these characters and making the reader fall into this story.
I will admit this book was not for me. There really felt like a lot of... almost personal attacks of people who have/want children. The general discussion itself is fine. The way Tania has to make sure to cover it early, and the pain that surely exists as the choices you make for your future are questioned was there. But it went beyond that. At one point Tania and Nolan are in a hallway and she has the thought that she's about to "forgo the bedroom" if you will when they're interrupted by a man and his pre-k age child, and later they comment about how he was "pearl-clutching' and they hope he "heard them" it was just a very bizarre tone to take, all things considered. I understand a couple in a millennial romance being child free by choice. I understand the need to have that conversation. I don't understand the vitriol. It all felt very indulgent and excessive. I know people who are by choice, I care deeply for them and their decisions and the right they have to make that choice. I have never felt attacked or made uncomfortable by their reasons and adamancy. This book felt like an attack when it talked about that. Oh god, and I didn't even touch on the use of climbing phrases and referencing during intimate scenes. It was so absurd and ridiculous and NOT hot. It felt like they were in a bad porno or making jokes(which if they were that would be fine. I’m all for laughing in the bedroom. This was dead serious usage). Just weird and jarring. He literally says "Slack!" as a VERY SERIOUS instruction to loosen her "grip". I'm sure there are people who will love this book. Who will feel seen by this book. I love that for you. I wish I could. At the end, I didn't care for how concerns the characters had were handled, I didn't care for how certain lifestyles were treated as better or worse than the choices others make, I didn't care for how the anxiety rep was handled. I didn't care for 2 stars because I recognize this book IS for someone. But that someone is not me.
Complete Opposites Climber and Techie Stranded in Yosemite Snowstorm - Can it Work?
This was a fun read about a Silicon Valley "techie" who gets stranded in a snowstorm on a walk in Yosemite while on a work retreat and is rescued by a climber who lives there in his van. There are sparks but he's a gentleman, and she's got major anxiety issues so nothing happens. A month later it turns out he's the keynote speaker (and a world famous climber) and he's thrilled to see her so they can have a proper date. Enter the Glam Fam from book #1 (you don't need to read it also but it's a fun book and the characters are familiar) to get Tania ready for her date with Nolan. The next thing you know she's taking her six week sabbatical in Yosemite to get to know him better, and explore her next career steps. I enjoyed the book as well as both Nolan and Tania, but I did feel that the book ended rather abruptly with all of their issues instantly resolved without being fleshed out (although I was cheering for them to get their HEA). The book was well written and clever and I enjoyed their banter and learning about rock climbing at Yosemite. I look forward to more Glam Fam books from this author - Enjoy!
I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Burnt out Techie meets nomadic adrenaline junkie in this Alex Honnold inspired love story. Tania meets Nolan when she’s on a retreat for work in Yosemite, he saves her from almost falling to her death and she has to spend the night in his van. In the morning they part ways both missing the other. Weeks later they run into each other in San Francisco and their rock climbing romance takes off.
I really wanted to love this book. I was so excited for the adventure aspect, especially the rock climbing in Yosemite. I personally love hiking and camping so outdoorsy romances are my favorite. This just fell a little flat for me. It took about half the book to get to the adventure part, and then Tania was just not into it so it made it less fun seeing it through her eyes. But I did think the concept was fun!
Forced proximity, stranded One bed Hot climbing instructor Instant connection City girl vs Nature
If you like books about city girls learning to exist in nature with hot rugged outdoorsy men this book is for you. This book has some spicy scenes so fair warning. Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Now I did not love this book BUT other's might love it, this is my own review
I was drawn to this book as I love rock climbing and beautiful views especially that it is set in the beautiful Yosemite but sadly this book fell flat for me.
I felt this book was slow moving yet the 'love' was fast and rushed. I felt Tania and Nolan's relationship was rushed and happened too quickly. I just couldn't get on with either character's. Nolan I felt was pushy and Tania was a people pleaser who was burnt out and I felt bad for her being pushed into 'rock climbing' and also felt for Nolan as it was clear Tania didn't want him risking his life and it was his dream. But I pushed through and finished it. I really didn't like the climbing words and phrases during intimate scenes and that made me cringe so much, there wasn't much spice either which to me was disappointing!
I did like that anxiety was openly talked about and that made Tania relatable to many people!
Overall the book was good and some might absolutely love it but sadly it just was not for me!
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read and give an honest review!
A delightful rom-com that balances humor and heart, taking readers on an exhilarating journey through personal growth and love. The story follows Tania, a Silicon Valley marketing executive who grapples with anxiety and chooses to avoid her feelings at all costs. The contrast between her high-stress corporate life and the spontaneous, adventurous world of Nolan Wells, a top rock climber, sets the stage for an engaging narrative.
The chemistry between Tania and Nolan is palpable from their first encounter in the snowstorm. Their dynamic is both refreshing and relatable, as Tania's initial reluctance to embrace her feelings is met with Nolan's easygoing ways.
While the plot is generally engaging, there are moments where the pacing feels a bit rushed, particularly towards the end. Some of the conflict resolution could have been explored in more depth, leaving a few threads feeling slightly unresolved.
"Love on the Rocks" is a charming read that will appeal to both adventure seekers and those who appreciate a good love story.
Thank you Net Galley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for a review.
This story was okay. I felt like there wasn’t that much character development between the characters. We don’t get a lot of back story and I also felt like the author could’ve had the characters grow more. This story didn’t really hold my interest that much it seemed to drag with some unnecessary parts that really didn’t add to the story. I felt like Nolan didn’t really care as much for Tania as he should’ve. He wasn’t as attentive as I would’ve liked him to be. I felt like he was always putting his wants and needs before hers. After she gave so much of herself to try and enjoy his hobby, he threw a tantrum the first time she wanted a break, which was a major turn off for me. Throw in the reason he gets upset and ends things with her over a little mistake and the words he said to her and I just felt annoyed. I do appreciate the copy that I was given. This book just didn’t do it for me.
I received an arc copy and I’m voluntarily leaving my review.
This was actually a really good read. Very lighthearted and low-angst, which is a perfect relaxing read for me 💚
With regards to the plot and the characters, nothing was short of amazing. This was written really well, and I loved how this got me hooked into the climbing scene. Not that I would want to climb anything like Nolan, but my interest was piqued with how much knowledge and research was put into this, given that the author herself has experience in climbing.
The only reason I'm not giving the full 5 for this is because the chapters felt long for me, and it's obviously just a me-problem.
Overall, such an enjoyable read. I loved the romance between Nolan and Tania, and her character development in the end is, of course, much appreciated. Perfect happy ending for this impossibly cute couple 💚
Thank you to BookSirens and the author for allowing me to give my honest review for this ARC read!
This is an interesting storyline. Not many professional mountain climbers provide one-half of the protagonists in romance novels. Tania, a high-up corporate executive meets Nolan, a mountain climber who saves her life the first time they meet. Their professional careers couldn't be more poles apart. Yet, somehow, they manage to carve out a romantic relationship out of their differences. Tania begins to learn to climb with Nolan but the family trauma he suffers makes him too extreme in his endeavours. Tania's one-moment lapse of concentration nearly results in a terrible accident making them realise that they are both looking for something else in a relationship. Living practically off-grid with Nolan requires a lot of sacrifice from a City girl but somehow, time apart makes them realise that being together is infinitely better. Tania gives up a lot for their union, but they get a HEA.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Tania is a VP of marketing at a tech firm in the Bay Area. Her firm takes a retreat down to Yosemite, where Nolan literally stops her in her tracks..... so she doesn't fall off of a cliff.
Tania leaves the retreat and heads back to the Bay, thinking she'll never see him again. Nolan turns up as the keynote speaker, but the only eye contact he has is for her.
Tania takes a sabbatical from work to see if things can work with Nolan. And truly find what she wants in life.
Overall, the story was a slow, slow burn. There's tension, and I think we get to know the characters well. My deductions are for the climbing lingo outside of climbing and for some tropes that aren't for me.
Thank you, netgalley and geek chic press, for the opportunity to read this eARC early in exchange for my honest opinion.
I love Yosemite. It’s my favorite place. So when I saw Half Dome on the cover and that it was a romance, I had to read it.
My one issue might feel small to some, but it was huge to me. *spoiler alert* There is mention of a Yosemite being someone’s final resting place, and there’s a memorial stone. My father’s ashes were spread there, and the paperwork strictly stated to only place ashes, no markers of anyone being scattered there. That part upset me as it’s against park guidelines, and I wish I could have something marking my dad’s final resting place beyond the natural landmarks we have.
Beyond that, I felt like I could connect with the female lead, living and working in the Bay Area, though not in high tech. I loved her falling in love with the park as well as Nolan
I throughly enjoyed this story! My husband made me fall in love with Yosemite 14 years ago when he took me for a few days. We camped and explored everything we could! When I saw this cover on NetGalley, I knew without reading a single thing it was El Capitan on the cover!!!
Thank you Alyssa for bringing my heart joy with this story. This was a story of growth as well as a love story! I enjoyed it; every moment. It was a slow burn but it was beautiful. This woman Tania is lost and just needed to find who she was and who she wanted to be by her side!
I truly loved the plot as it was different from anything else I have read. Thank you NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy of Love On The Rocks!
