In Watching the Road, Karen unveils her extraordinary journey of trusting God for the return of her prodigal daughter, Lindsey. Watching from her porch with eyes of faith and a heart of hope, Karen cried out to God for Lindsey's return. In miraculous ways, God daily reaffirmed the promises He gave personally to Karen that Lindsey would be restored to her marriage and family.
Watching the Road will stir your faith, strengthen your resolve, and provide strategic tactics for your journey. Experience the struggle and thrill of one woman's determination to not give up but tenaciously trust God to fulfill His promises. As you'll see, He kept every single one.
I just heard Karen Wheaton and her daughter Lindsey share their stories at a women's conference. I knew I had to get their books and Karen's book didn't disappoint. It's a timely word to encourage you to pray and believe no matter how dark things may be. In fact, she shares how many times when she would get an encouraging word from God things would get worse. My own sweet mama has said many times, "It gets darkest before the dawn." Hang on sweet mama's the dawn is coming!
I am looking forward to reading Lindsey's book now that I finished Watching the Road: Praying Your Prodigal Home. I have no doubt it will be another encouraging book!
You’ve written a number of things wants nearly byword for weird that I’ve spoken to God. That alone struck home deeply for me. But!!! When I read that God gave you 2 Chronicles 20:1-30 I particularly lost it. God gave me that section of Scripture as my strategy for my daughter and son-in-lawn. They are living together, not divorced, but he comes and goes as he wants leaving household responsibilities to her to tend to. She’s lost hope & become cold in regards to him, ( to protect her heart, I’m sure). Both have known the truth Lord Jesus and have walked away. I’m calling/praying them back home to Jesus in prayer…shouting, groaning, clapping, dancing…all of it. Your book has fanned/reignited the flame again to keep on believing and praying. Thank you.
Exemplary recall of a mother’s painful experience with a grown wayward child. Detailed timeline of her agony and the agony of her son in law and grandchildren. It would have been fulfilling for me to hear how her husband helped her deal with her agony and how he helped love her through her pain. He was only mentioned toward the end of the book. Other than that I felt the author’s pain as a Mother I admire how she never gave up. I found it interesting how she left home often to pray or be alone. Beside that interesting point that could have been easily explained, a powerful tool on prayer when a child is estranged
I needed to read this book! Thank God Karen wrote so honestly about her testimony through this prodigal season. Most Christians are telling you "let them go"; or "move on". But Karen gets it - you can never turn off being a Mother! Like Karen, I was still standing and believing but felt like I was out on my own(with God of course). Not now! This book has encouraged me to continue in the spiritual battle for my prodigal! I will continue to fight in prayer, praise and dependency! I encourage other Mums and Dads with prodigals - read this book - it will lift you, your faith and speak hope to your aching heart.
My review: On Tuesday, June 2nd 2020 I heard a message from Karen at OCI (Perry Stone Ministires) and found out that she had written this and I bought it and read it in five hours. I am currently going through everything that was written on every page that was laid out before me, so if you’re a believer in Jesus keep my brother in prayer his name is Ben. To too a, looking out the door of intercession for his return.
This book started great! Pulled me in at first then half way through I’m wanting more detail on the other end of the story and it shares nothing, I got early on the mother’s desperate plea to God for change but reading it over and over was a little wearisome so I’m guessing it’s just a setup for her daughters book. The mother’s Faith and prayers is something To admire and it gives a person hope! I’m thinking the books should have been combined but I will read the daughters version and update.
There are helpful things suggested such as prayer (obviously), fasting and asking others to pray and fast with you, but there was so much tripe about “hearing a word from God” in the form of dreams, the reoccurrence of a certain number, visions, crocodile prophecies and upside turtles that the author gave credit to her daughter’s ultimate redemption after name and claiming them. This would not be the book I would recommend if you have a prodigal child.
This book takes you into the spiritual trenches with the mother of a wayward daughter. She never gives up on her....she is human and all the gut wrenching emotions she goes through are lived out in this book. One word from God changes everything is the message. Keep holding on and you will see the promises come to pass!!
Inspiration to its fullest! Directs the heart always back to Jesus and Trusting Him!
Love this book! It’s so well written and inspiring to anyone! I am lifted to new heights of faith and declaring what God has made clear to me for my children long ago! Praise God for this woman’s boldness to go to the throne of God!
This book could not have came at a better time in my life. It help remind me how powerful God’s Word and His promises are if we only keep believing! Don’t settle keep pressing and trusting God … and HE will bring it to pass, His word will not return Void but accomplish what it needs to do.
I have followed Karen through her Front Porch Friends the last few years. I knew about the journey of Lindsey, her daughter, from these, but after seeing both of them this month at a Front Porch Friends conference, I had to read this book. It is full of encouragement and faith. Never stop praying. Remember the "untiI" "even now" and "stand still" every day. I loved it!
Karen shares how she kept believing for her daughter who wandered from God. She shares scriptures and strategies that helped her through this difficult time. Very inspiring!
I had no idea what this book was about I saw Karen on Facebook and I loved her videos and I just had to read her book. I found this book a great read about having Faith in God and believing in his promises... I highly recommend this book Y'alls
Really enjoyed this book, along with her daughter’s book. Inspiring and helpful tips to pray your prodigal home. Also shows that even when it looks the worst, there’s still hope.
I loved this book. I have children that are not saved and that I have been praying for and this book encouraged me to not give up! Keep praying! To use my weapons of warfare. This is easy to read, it kept my attention and desire to finish it! Great book!
Karin taught that when you feel God had given you a promise, you stick with it. Things get bad? Stick with it. Things get worse? Stick with that promise. All hope is gone? Dig your heels in even farther.
This book gave me some hope as I continue to pray for my family. It helps to know that others go through these same emotions and to be encouraged to pray constantly.
Wonderful book!!! So encouraging!!!!! She has encouraged me to keep the faith for my protocol daughter's! Thank you Karen for sharing your testimony!!!!
I love how she shares how she fervently and faithfully prayed for her daughter who had walked away from God and her family. Beautiful story of God's redemption!
