My new neighbor happens to be the grumpiest billionaire in Whispers, but his gravelly voice and golden brown eyes make this city girl weak at the knees.

When my life imploded and I lost my job and my fiancé in a matter of weeks, I didn’t know what my next step should be. Then I received an inheritance that would change my life forever. Moving to a small town and renovating the old farmhouse was a step in the right direction. But bickering with my startling good looking, yet much older neighbor was not part of my plan.

Tanner Whiteman owns the largest whiskey distillery in the country, and now he wants my land. It’s the only thing that I have to my name and there is no way I am letting him take it. It is clear I am not cut out for country life and Tanner has no trouble pointing that out. Although as his eyes linger a little longer and his words take new meaning, even the massive age gap is not enough to stop us.

But something does. Something Vicious. Something unexpected. And not even the local billionaire knows what is coming.

I didn’t like at all the mcs’ age gap of 20 years and furthermore to be reminded of it throughout the story. 😤

Anyway…
I believe most readers will love it, since the author has included so many tropes to fulfil or meet the expectations of her readers.

I am a sucker for a good age-gap romance and this one ticked all kinds of good boxes for me. The main characters sparked from the get-go and as the story progressed, their chemistry became combustible! Everything from the journey itself to the characters as individuals was developed perfectly and realistically. I love that the author blended a suspense plot into the story that kept me on my toes.

The story flowed so well that it seemed like no time had passed while I listened to it. A lot of that is attributed to the narrators. Yes, a story still has to be good to keep you focused no matter who’s doing the narrating, but more often than not, even when a story is just so-so, a good narrator can make a huge difference. That didn’t happen with Tanner since the story itself was really good, but it was no hardship listening to Sean Masters & Victoria Connolly’s duet performance. These two were fire together and really elevated my first experience with this author. 👏👏round of applause all around👏👏!

I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of the stories about the Billionaires of Whispers!

This was my first read from Samantha Skye!

She had great tension and spice between Tanner and Victoria. They start as rivals when he wants to buy her aunt's land for his whiskey company. But they very quickly succumb to their attraction and realize they are much better together than as enemies.

Tanner is a good 2 decades older than Victoria and his son might even be older than her, I believe. But they really just gel well together and when their chemistry explodes, they never look back.

There was a bit of a suspense element as someone seems to be stalking Victoria. Pretty standard small town suspense things, if you know what I mean.

But this was steamy with good characters and it was a very pleasant read if a little too long.

Not sure if it was the narrator or the way the book was written but every time the MMC called the FMC his baby girl I gagged 🤢. And let me tell you he calls her that like every chapter 🤮🤮🤮

- Forced Proximity
- Opposites Attract
- Fish Out of Water
- Grumpy/Sunshine
- Age Gap (20 years)
- Romantic Suspense

Tanner is my first book by Samantha Skye, and won't be my last. The story follows Victoria and Tanner. Victoria's life is completely falling apart. After walking in on her fiancé cheating on her with his co-worker, and losing her job, Victoria needs a fresh start. When she inherits a home from her aunt in the small town of Whispers, she decides to make the move. Victoria ends up being neighbors with Tanner, a billionaire who owns a whiskey business. He had plans to take over her aunt's property to expand his business. When Victoria refuses his offer to take the property off her hands, the two get off to a rough start.

Tanner is charming, successful, incredibly grumpy, and is used to getting what he wants. Victoria is stubborn and determined to prove she can successfully live the small-town life. They clash at every turn, but there is something between them they can't ignore. I ate this story up! Victoria and Tanner's delicious grumpy/sunshine, age gap, enemies-to-lovers journey to love made it hard to put this book down. The chemistry was sizzling, and the spice was spicin. Neither of them was looking for love, but both found what they needed in each other. This story has the perfect mix of heart, humor, and heat. The dose of suspense was a bonus. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the rest of the series.

Narration:
Victoria Connolly and Sean Masters perform this audiobook in duet. They were the perfect voices for Victoria and Tanner. Victoria C. and Sean infused the characters with so much personality and brought them to life in the best way. Victoria C. brought the sunshine, and Sean's voice is well-suited for a grump. This was a fun listen!

Thanks to Samantha Skye and Home Cooked Books for the review opportunity. Opinions expressed are my own.

Small town billionaire, 20 year age gap, AND narrated by Sean Masters? Say less. I’m new to Samantha Skye, but the premise for this and the promise of hearing the deliciousness of my favorite male narrator bringing it to life has me excited to dive right in. Tanner is loads of fun. It’s spicy, it’s sweet, it’s got plenty of heart and swoon plus a dash of suspense. This fast paced, easy listen was so entertaining, and the narrators are also fantastic.

The story centers on Victoria, who unexpectedly inherits a farm from her aunt in the quaint town of Whispers. Perfectly timed considering she just got out of a VERY bad relationship with a cheating ex. But as soon as she arrives in her new small town home, she’s met by Tanner—the gruff, distillery-owning neighbor—who’s eager to buy her land. Their first meeting is anything but friendly. Victoria has no intention of selling, and Tanner isn’t used to being told no. Sparks fly—not just from tension, but from a simmering attraction that neither of them can ignore as the story unfolds. And from there we have a fast past, oh so spicy age gap romance that is always a dynamic I love.

I absolutely adored these two. Victoria is sharp, witty, and unafraid to stand her ground. And tanner is the ultimate gruff and controlling silver fox, with a hidden tender side that is brought out by his quick shift from enemies to protective over Victoria. He becomes fiercely protective and surprisingly swoony. They do not linger long in the enemies phase, which I appreciated- I loved watching them pivot to more.

Their chemistry is so fun and spicy. The push-pull between them is magnetic—classic hate-to-like romantic tension. And the spice hits just right- they are so electric together. AND so much fun (and again I love me some big age gap). But despite a big gap, it doesn't feel too taboo since she's 30. So both characters have emotional maturity, which I really appreciated in their chemistry.

The supporting cast adds so much charm, especially the banter between Tanner and his friends and his grown son. And the suspenseful twist adds an extra layer that kept me hooked. This is the first book in a series, and I’ll definitely be interested in the audios for the other guys. A great introduction to Samantha’s writing.

And listen. I am pretty much FERAL for all things Sean Masters- truth be told, when I saw he was the narrator that's what made me want to snatch this up. He’s hands down my favorite male narrator, and he is DELICIOUS as Tanner. Like hose me down, because he lit me on fire. His growly voice and dominant charisma just captivates me every time- and here as a broody billionaire? Meow. And Victoria Connolly is also fantastic. She brings VIctoria’s sass and steel but she also brings a lot of vulnerability to her as well- I loved the nuances of her performance. The audio is so stinking good.

From the very first time I read the blurb of the book, I knew that I would love this story. When I saw the age-gap trope, I had to read the book straight away and, honestly, to say, I wasn't disappointed. This book exceeded my expectations.

This story is so addictive. I couldn't stop reading it.

Victoria inherited a house from her aunt in the small town of Whispers just when her life was at a crossroad. Tanner is a billionaire whiskey company owner who had his eye on the land she inherited. When she arrives, his plans are put to a stop and their personalities clash straight away. But even after all of that original angst between them, they couldn't stop their attraction.

I have to be honest, the story was moving at a fast pace and I actually loved that. One minute it looked like they hated each other and the next they were spending time together. I adored the fact that Tanner was quite older than her and that he became so caring and protective of her. It didn't take a lot of time before they started falling in love. The perfect example was Tanner's sweet, adoring way he addressed her: "Baby girl". I was swooned just by that. She, on the other hand, felt this insane attraction towards him, and she wanted to spend every single moment with him.

Let me tell you about the love scenes. Even after 20 years of age gap, that didn't take away the heat and the spice. The smut and the kink were so, so damn hot and good, and I was there for all of it 🥵🥵🥵. Basically, I loved these two and their love story.

The author also added a bit of a mystery within the story, which was fascinating. It got resolved literally through the end, which felt a little rushed. But that didn't make the story less alluring.

Overall, I loved reading "Tanner" and I can't wait for Hudson and Lucy's book. I am sure that I will love it.

Yes to the audio!

Sean Masters and Victoria Connelly really brought the story to life. I loved the duet style and it was giving when it came to Tanner and Victoria.

It was a nice to go back to the beginning after reading Hudson and Connor. For me it was good to go back and I did give it a bit of a higher rating this time around. I enjoyed it more and it changed my mind on a few things, my fault for not paying attention to details. The danger/suspense and the bad person hiding in plain sight were not just bam like I had said. Tanner did get better, how? Because he was already very good, Sean Masters did an amazing job. Victoria was better the second time around, not as childish even though there were those moments where she was it didn't feel over the top this time around. Loved how she didn't back down when things got tough and didn't need to depend on Tanner to take care of her, she could do that on her own.

Loved the Audiobook and I recommend picking it up and reading along with it!

Thank you Samantha Skye for an ALC of Tanner.

Rating: 3.5/5

My honest thoughts on this book. It was good, I liked a good portion of it. I just felt like there could have been an earlier introduction to the suspense/danger, don't get me wrong there were moments but it was more with the person than the events. Hints of the bad person, instead of like a bam this is the reveal.

Tanner was a good MMC, caring, supportive and protective. Victoria had her moments that felt like she was over dramatic at times, they weren't often but it did have me thinking it was a bit childish. I did like that she wouldn't back down on challenges or when things got tough for her.

In the end it was a good story, the characters were good along with the side characters and introduction to what coming in the series.

Wow. I just loved this. Small town, age gap AND baby it’s a gapppp. Y’all know imma devourrr an age gap, and I surely did. It’s about a 20 year gap 🥵 Tanner is a grumpy, business-focused billionaire. He lives in a small town, but he runs a whiskey business. He’s the most eligible bachelor, and no one has caught his eye… well until the city girl moves into town and takes the land/home he has his eye on. Victoria is renovating an old farm house post her fiancé being a sleeze-bag. There’s so many tropes here that I just really love, and I just enjoyed this book so much. It’s a romantic suspense, which is another win for me. There are some words / phrases in the book that didn’t quite hit, but I think it’s because the author is not from the US - so she didn’t nail the southern slang. But it’s definitely not something to make you turn away. The writing is so good, and it’s incredibly addicting. Tanner will take care of his girl, and I mean all the ways 😉 the tension, the banter, the suspense - just yummm.

Releasing Aug 6 💥

Tropes you’ll find: small town, city girl x country boy, age gap (20 years), opposites attracts, billionaire, grumpy MMC, protective MMC, single dad, romantic suspense

Micros: he takes care of her when she’s hurt, he cooks for her, he buys all the gifts

Thank you so much Samantha and The Author Agency for this arc. I can’t wait for more! I’m invested in this series and town.

They say all things come in threes and this time it isn’t good. After being cheated on, let go from her job and finding out her Aunt died, Victoria moves to Whisper. Whisper is the small town where her aunt left her a farmhouse. Looking for a change of pace she decides to renovate said house, but her grumpy older neighbor nextdoor has other plans. The town loves him, but he’s just a thorn in her side…a very attractive thorn.

🥃 Age Gap (20 years)
🥃 Grumpy Hero
🥃 Opposites Attract
🥃 Billionaire
🥃 Small town
🥃 Suspense
🥃 Single Dad (older child)

I have never wanted a slow burn to resolve more, I was rooting for these two to succeed. Tanner is the perfect book boyfriend: moody, hot and broody. I loved Tanners inner voice, it was so well written. The relationship between Victoria and Tanner was so cute; with his need to take care of her and her need for independence. The suspense and plot twist was unexpected, not what I thought I originally saw coming! I love the spice, all I have to say is the whiskey scene 🫠 I will not recover. Also, the single dad older child was cute, I loved Tanner’s relationship with his son (I will also add a 🤣 because I laughed so hard at this plot point, and if you read you will see why). This was so great and I can’t wait to read Hudson’s story.

Audiobook

I love an audiobook reread and Tanner did not disappoint. Sean Maters and Victoria Connolly did a fantastic job at bringing the characters of Whispers to life. I cannot wait for the next audiobook!

Victoria's life is a dumpster fire at the moment, and when she gets a better stating that she's the owner of a large amount of land and a home from a relative she's never met, she jumps on the chance to put all of her focus in that.

And when Victoria decides to move in and renovate the place, that halts all plans that Tanner, a local billionaire and business owner, had for expanding his business and building on the property.

This causes a rift between the two of them, but quickly their banter turns into so much more! I loved the depth of these characters and how they found themselves adjusting. Victoria finding herself after being a city girl her entire life and Tanner falling head over heels when he told himself that he would never do that again.

There was also a suspense aspect to this book that was really well done. While I did guess who the culprit was, I was really hoping to be wrong!

Samantha sets us up for some great future books and I can't wait to read!!

Kinda just a typical fluffy romance without much depth. It’s an enjoyable enough listen to keep you entertained, but I did find the writing at times to be a bit stilted. You know how usually you’ll have contractions in your grammar that just make it sound more natural? There were quite a few times this wouldn’t happen, that just took me out of the audio a little bit 😔 I also found the characters to be a bit flat. I couldn’t really seem to care much for them either because they were annoying or too OTP. It’s very insta love, not a lot of angst, and pretty predictable unfortunately.

What it did have going for it was the mouth on Tanner 🥵 It’s a big ol’ age gap, so the talk this man has will have you a puddle on the floor 🙌🏼

“Fuck me, baby girl. Take what you need. Your pretty pussy feels so fucking good on my cock”

Wow, talk about an age gap adventure! I’m head over heels for a story. I loved how Tanner fell quickly for Victoria. I loved how they were both stubborn at first, but when they went from hating each other to friendship and then to lovers, it was a delightful experience listening to how fast Tanner fell and how he took care of her. Listening to Sean Masters and Victoria Connolly's duet performance was fantastic! These two were really amazing together, and it really elevated my second time with this story.

Each tale in this series seems to promise more captivating dynamics and heartwarming transformations. The chemistry between the characters is simply electric, and the narration will bring it all to life in such a vivid way. I can't wait to delve deeper into the world that Samantha Skye has crafted, where love knows no bounds and every relationship is a journey worth taking. Here's to more enchanting stories and unforgettable performances! I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the stories about the Billionaires of Whispers.

I really enjoyed Tanner. The book & the person lol this was a good storyline. It kept me entertained & I just fell in love with Tanner. The perfect gentleman. The amount of spice was great, not overly done. The drama & mystery to it was really good.

The communication!!!! Ahhh the communication between Victoria & Tanner, perfect! Exactly how adults should communicate!

I just really enjoyed everything about this book. I’ve never read any books by this author but I will definitely be checking out the rest of her collection! Also, I needdddd Hudson & the rest of this series!!

Tanner is a billionaire romance about Tanner Whiteman who owns the whiskey distillery in Whispers and his new neighbour Victoria. This is book one in The Billionaires of Whispers series.

This is a new-to-me author, but not new-to-me narrators. I was glad the narrators, as usual, didn’t disappoint. Even more delighted that I greatly enjoyed this author’s writing.

The setup for Victoria and Tanner’s meeting is spelled out pretty clearly from the beginning. Victoria’s messy breakup, a mysterious letter from a lawyer, and losing her job. Voila! Suddenly, Victoria is moving to a small town to claim an inheritance from a long-lost aunt. I love these kinds of stories. Of course, Tanner wants her land and is shocked to find out it’s not going on the market.

Tanner could have easily come off as a smarmy jerk, but because we get his POV, we know he is just as annoyed with his interactions with Victoria as she is. Tanner cannot seem to not put his foot in his mouth every time they are near each other. He is also irritated by the intense attraction he feels toward her due to their age difference. These things help to humanize Tanner and help me to see he’s actually a really wonderful man. Now, he just has to show Victoria that.

I don’t have a problem with age-gap romance, and for the most part, didn’t have a problem with this one. The only time it bothered me was when their specific ages were mentioned, and that’s because Tanner is my age, and Victoria is the age of one of my kids. It was too specific for me! But that kind of makes me laugh at myself. I rather liked the way their age difference was handled when it came to his son (who is older than her) and her mom (who is presumed to be the same age-ish as him), both being very supportive from before they even admitted their feelings to each other. Most people in the book had the attitude of, as long as you make each other happy, it’s nobody’s business. Tanner may have turned into a “touch her and die” type once he met Victoria, but he never talked down to her. He was just protective. And Victoria never ceded any sort of power to Tanner. Their power dynamics were equal and loving.

While this story has a bit of a mystery element to it, it never took over the narrative. Everything flowed well. I loved getting to know the people of Whispers, especially Tanner’s close friends. I’m glad I tried this author and am looking forward to reading more.

‘Tanner’ by Samantha Skye is a contemporary romantic suspense novel, the 1st book in The Billionaires of Whispers series. Thank you to Hambright PR and Samantha Skye for the opportunity for the ARC/ALC in exchange for my honest opinions.

This book can be described as:

🥃 Romantic Suspense
🩷 Small Town Romance
🥃 Billionaire Romance
🩷 Age Gap (F 30/M 50)
🥃 Single Dad (older son)
🩷 Opposites Attract

My honest opinions:

I really enjoyed many parts of this book. It gave me everything I love about billionaire romances… the opulence, the jet setting, a man that would do anything for the woman, and also that fancy feeling of getting dressed up for “galas.” In contradiction… this book also had the small town feel, with the whiskey distillery, hobby farm and small town vibes including a cast of side characters that all know each other and are in each other’s business. The author did a great job blending the big city and the small town feels.

The main characters were really great in this story. Tanner was a grumpy, handsome billionaire with a protective, possessive side. And the FMC, Victoria was a beautiful, sunshiny, independent woman, who won’t let anyone take away her pride. Their connection was so fun to read!! I loved the banter and bickering that led into an explosive first kiss moment… and every spicy moment from then on was hot, hot, hot!!… whiskey kisses and body shots! I would rate this 3🌶️’s. Maybe almost 4!

Next I was impressed with the man they chose for the cover because he was exactly how I would picture Tanner. Absolutely perfect. And Sean Masters as a narrator, fit him so perfectly!! An excellent performance by him, creating tension, strength, and heat for this character. I was equally impressed with the female narrator, Victoria Connolly who was full of emotion, and felt really natural and not forced, especially in the spicy scenes. I loved this audio performance.

Finally, although this book was engaging, I still found the plot to be a bit predictable. Even in the suspense aspects, I had guessed the “whodunnit” and “why” right away. It took away from the reading experience, a little bit, but I the short chapters really kept the story flowing and I would still consider this book entertaining. Overall I would rate this book as 4⭐️’s.

"Tanner" by Samantha Skye is an age-gap, enemies-to-lovers neighbor romance full of simmering tension! I really liked the characters, Victoria and Tanner. Victoria is a strong FMC who wants to do things on her own terms. She is a city girl who has been thrust into a small-town life when her estranged aunt leaves her her farm. She just so happens to be looking for a new start in life after losing her job and finding out her boyfriend cheated on her. Tanner is accustomed to throwing money at problems, but when Victoria enters his life and refuses to give up her newly acquired farmhouse, he devises a scheme to acquire it. The longer they are in each other's presence, the more animosity brews between them... until the dam breaks loose and their very obvious obsession with one another becomes too great to ignore! As I said, I enjoyed this book quite a bit! The chemistry between Victoria and Tanner is excellent. She is trying to make the best of a bad situation, and he is a grump. He won't stop trying to get her farmhouse, and she keeps digging in her heels. It's the *delicious* opposites-attract tension that sells this one. I liked the side characters and the small-town vibes as well. The "twist" at the end is very, very obvious if you're paying attention enough. I loved the audiobook, narrated by Victoria Connolly and Sean Masters. They both bring these characters to life in a perfect way. They play off of one another well!

Thank you to Samantha Skye and Hambright PR for the complimentary ALC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

Tanner – Samantha Skyes
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4,25)

EN
After catching her fiancé cheating and losing her job, Victoria’s life completely unravels… until she unexpectedly inherits a farm in a small town from an aunt she never knew. Enter Tanner, her grumpy neighbor who owns a distillery and is determined to buy her land. Too bad for him… she refuses.

What starts as a clear enemies-to-lovers situation slowly turns into something much deeper. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop alongside Victoria’s many challenges: learning how to run a farm, dealing with an ex who won’t take no for an answer, and someone who seems intent on causing her harm.

Add in an age gap, opposites attract, and a grumpy MMC, and honestly? I was sold. This was my first Samantha Skyes book, and it definitely won’t be my last.

FR

Age gap, opposites attract, MMC grincheux… j’ai adoré. C’était mon premier livre de Samantha Skyes et certainement pas le dernier.

ALC REVIEW

HOLLY SMOKES !!! What a performance, and the story will keep you entertained, an enemies to lovers, billionaire style and I mean BILLIONAIRE ( as in $75k bottle of whiskey tasting … if you catch my drift, that was HOT 🥵)
The way Tanner wanted to just take care of Victoria and make sure she has anything and everything she wants 🫠that’s what a billionaire romance means ! As in Tanner uses a chopper to go around!

Victoria life flipped upside down over night, caught her fiancé cheating in het own bed with his assistant, lost her job … then she finds out that she inherited a farm house from her estranged aunt. So she moved from NYC to Whispers !

Tanner her next door neighbor and richer than king midas apparently ( 🫠… aaaah swoon) wanted to buy the Land and expended his whisky distillery.

The only reason it’s enemies to lovers because of Tanner’s interest in buying the land.
Because they chemistry is off the charts ❤️‍🔥

This is a great set up for a small town cozy romance ( with a street named Billionaire boulevard ) and so much banter.

He falls first, so now he is making sure she gets ANYTHING she wants!

The suspense element or unknown threat, so one is after Victoria to hurt her …

The spice is chefs kiss 🥵. This man makes sure she gets ANYTHING she wants in bed and out of it ! His kryptonite ? WHITE SEE THROUGH LACE !!

Touch her and die vibe !

Age gap ! 30-52 young ! and OMG he is hot zaddy if you will.

Victoria is trying to build a new life for herself, I loved her character and personality.

This is a new author to me, and I will be binge reading this series because the Men in whispers are hot AF !

Tanner and Victoria

Such a great age gap romance. There was a nice forbidden feel since the FMC is younger than the MMC’s son. I love that we get the feel of instant chemistry coming through the tension filled introduction and early meetings between Tanner and Victoria. The underlying suspense of the plot gave us a layer of angst that kept me tuned in waiting to find out what was going on in the background. It also provided for some extra protectiveness by Tanner that was super swoony!

If you haven’t read this yet (or even if you have) you definitely need to experience this on audio!! Victoria Connolly’s voice has such a beautiful, lyrical tone that I loved!! She is so expressive and gives a full performance that sucked me into the story. Sean Masters…I don’t even know where to start. Absolutely mesmerizing voice and perfect for the broody billionaire that is Tanner. I only wish he said “Baby Girl” about a thousand more times!!
