When 16 year old Allie Sheridan first arrived at Cimmeria Academy it was as a punishment, to teach her how to be a good respectful student and lady. But now? It's more than that, more than just a school, it's been a safe haven.

But no longer.

A nefarious group - one that is frightingly tied with Allie's family - is trying to destroy everything Cimmeria stands for.

Even worse, it's clear that somebody they eat with, sleep with, train with...is betraying them. There is a spy in Night school.

As paranoia grows and the fight for Cimmeria begins, it's not an attack from the outside they have to worry about...

I'm going to keep this review short and straight to the base.

The Night School series is going downhill, and downhill. The 1st book (Night School)was absolutely BRILLIANT! It has 500 pages and i managed to read it in 2 days because i couldn't put it down. The 2nd book (Legacy) was really good too!
But Fracture was just....

tv addiction emma stone meh gif

I'm actually scared to think of what will become of the next books in the series.

Let's start off with the beginning and why i didn't like it.
Allie.
She was back to her old self (being rebellious, doing what she liked, and causing disaster) and she decided to *little spoiler alert* ran away.
I understood her reasons and actually approved a bit of her actions.
But then she got caught and suddenly she changed her mind about it and she was trying to be the 'good student' again.
Why?!

bad purpose 2

I found Fracture to be boring. Nothing really happened until the bigger half of the book. The rest was about solving all the mystery and finding out who the traitor was (WHICH WE STILL DON'T KNOW! What is the freaking point of it?)

I wish the book would focus a little more on the romance between Carter, Allie and Sylvain (that's still unsolved too).

Was anything solved at all?...

tumblr m6w0xwe Uh P1qhqb9q

The ending was;
Dramatic
Ridiculous
Stupid

Seriously, the action scenes were very dramatic, i found myself rolling eyes. It was a bit unrealistic too. And stupid because (like i said) nothing was solved.

Overall, sorry but i didn't like it.

tumblr mqrxrsg8ge1rr0uo4o1 500

At times i couldn't wait to put Fracture down and had to force myself to keep on reading.

Did i finish the book? - Yes
Will i read the next one when it comes out? - Maybe
Am i excited for it? - No

Sincerely, The Critic.

So I finished the book and realized "Wait, what? I didn't highlight a single quote?"
Madness! I think it's getting a bit boring.. Or maybe it's me I don't know.

Such a brilliant world! Seriously. C.J. Daugherty's Night School series is one of my favorites books to escape with. I always look forward to the next installment, craving that heart pounding excitement, alluring mystery and charming romance that I've come to expect from these books. I simply adore Daugherty's writing. She is a true master at pacing her stories in a way that plays with your mind and pulls at your heart. The flow and tone is also pitch perfect, but what I love most about these books is that it's still crazy addicting. I love how unpredictable everything feels, I never know what to expect and I'm continuously guessing from start to finish. I'm happy to say that Fracture is just as riveting and strong as the previous books and once again, an instant favorite!

Tormented after the lost of her best friend, Jo, Allie is beside herself. She feels like everyone at Cimmeria Academy has let her down and she doesn't know who she can trust. Wanting to take action into her own hands, Allie escapes the school and tries to find the answers no one else seems to be going after. But her attempt to escape to London failed and Allie is sent back to the Academy. Fueled only by the desperate need to avenge Jo's death, Allie is filled with a new found hope. Revenge. She will train. She will fight and together with her friends, she will find a way to avenge Jo, stop Nathaniel and find the spy lurking in the walls of Cimmeria Academy.

I always thought that the third book in a series is the most difficult to write. There is a lot of information and truths that need revealing but you don't want to say to much or give away the entire story. Where's the fun in that? After all, there are two more books planned for this series. So, with that said, Fracture is a great in-between novel, but this was more like a filler then anything else.
With the help of their Night School training, Allie and her friends form a secret group and try to plot out who the spy could be. We are treated to seeing these characters fight back in the only way they know how. United. We also finally find out what Night School is truly about and while there were scattered clues among the other books, it was still something else to finally get the grand picture after all this time. I loved how Daugherty waited for the perfect moment to let us in on the big secret, it was a great way for Allie to accept and appreciate where her destiny truly lies as well as capturing that curiosity in readers to keep us guessing and invested. Which totally worked. We learn more about Lucinda's role and how it's connected to Isabelle, Nathaniel and eventually Allie. We also get some action packed scenes that involve Nathaniel and his ultimate goal to take over the school, but at last, we still don't know who the spy is. So, while a lot happens in this installment, at the same time, nothing actually gets resolved. This might be disappointing or frustrating to some readers, but I for one love how Daugherty is setting up for future books. The biggest anchor in these novels has always been the building mystery in both story line and characterizations. When I really think about each of the characters I've grown so attached to, I wonder if I really know them at all. Daugherty has us skeptical of everything about this world. We truly don't' know who we can trust and all we can do is sit back and hope against hope that are favorite characters don't betray us in the end. Yes, the wait can be exasperating, but it also gives us something to ponder and look forward to, which is wonderful since I'm not ready to let these books go just yet.

Since the death of Jo, all of these characters seem to grieve and grow in different and even surprising ways.
In the begging of the story, Allie is back to her old rebellious ways. She's defiant, hurt and lashes out in mean ways and while she may seem like a brat, she's actually portrayed very realistically. She was the only one there when Jo died. She blames and hates herself and when it doesn't feel big enough, she starts to blame everyone else around her. Later in the book, Allie realizes that she's not the only person who lost a friend that night and that everyone is doing what they can to find the person responsible for helping Jo's killer get inside the school. My heart really goes out to Allie, but I'm glad she finally snapped out of her grief-stricken stage and decided that the best way to avenge Jo was is to fight back.
Even Carter and Sylvain decided to put their personal grudge behind them for now and work together, for both Allie and Jo. It was strange to see this unlikely alliance, but it was also really great to see Sylvain and Carter as well as Rachel, Nicole and Zoe work as a team. They have brilliant chemistry and it's exciting and entertaining to see them in action.
I'm still waving my Team Carter flag, but I have to admit, Sylvain is growing on me. For someone who I didn't think could be redeemed, Syl turned out to be the only one who is giving the confidence and warmth Allie desperately needs. Carter is acting like his older self that we met in the first book (not really sure who he was in the second) but he still has a lot of issues that he needs to work out.
Which brings me to the romance. For now, that part of the story is on hold, but I'm actually glad that Daugherty took this step for Allie. She has so many conflicting problems right now that it would feel forced for her to just pick up where she left off with Slyvain at the Winter ball and her heart still breaks when she thinks of Carter. Allie is confused and lost right now and the last thing she needs to focus on is her love life. So there isn't any romance in this book, but we still got a few heated moments that made my heart smile.

All in all, Fracture is another thrilling installment in the Night school series. I'm enjoying the slow but steady rhythm in the plot, the writing is remarkable and these characters are beautifully complicated and compelling. I also really liked the way this ended. It was action packed and gripping and I'm mighty curious where Daugherty will take this next. Another amazing read in the Night School series!

Honestly I can't wait for this - but really actually want Allie to end up with Carter ... I genuinely think Jerry's gonna be the spy - he seemed a little weird in the second book ... Still a really compelling read though and it'll be good to know why Christopher decided to join Nathaniel ... I'm looking forward to this book but seriously do hope it's Carter she ends up with , I still haven't quite forgiven Sylvain for his prior misdemeanors

I don't quite know how they're going to get out of this situation ... Not with Allie gone and I think she's the only one that can really end it but I fear that the only way could be by letting herself be caught by Nathaniel and breaking them up essentially from the inside of his 'group'.

I have to say that I'm also a tad bit in love with Zoe , she's adorable :D

Great book , I'm eagerly anticipating the next one

At the beginning of Fracture (which is very appropriately titled, btw), we find Allie utterly broken: angry, defiant, and – underneath it all – impossibly sad. She feels that she can trust no one, not even her headmistress Isabelle, and her grieving heart can’t make peace with everything that happened at the end of Legacy. After a failed escape, Allie returns to Cimmeria with a renewed strength and a taste for revenge. While she still has trust issues, she knows Cimmeria is the only place where she’s even remotely safe, and she intends to stay alive at all costs.

With each installment, C.J Daugherty proves herself anew both as a writer and as a master of characterization. Her protagonist is a 16-year-old who is going through things no teen ever should, so some reactions and rash decisions are normal and even expected. I felt that these parts of Allie’s character were done extraordinarily well. Nothing was glossed over, not the anger, not the guilt, and certainly not the rashness of an emotionally immature individual.

Although present, romance takes a back seat in Fracture as we finally discover what Night School is all about. Carter and Sylvain both play major roles in this installment, but romance is the last thing on anyone’s mind. While I’m usually not one to publicly declare teams, I must make an exception in this case: I am still firmly Team Sylvain. Carter and Allie gave it their best and proved that they’re completely wrong for each other. Carter’s controlling nature rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning, and while Sylvain has made some mistakes in the past, he has certainly atoned for them since.

Again, the third person narration took some getting used to since I find it more difficult to connect with, but Allie’s pain came through so clearly that I soon stopped noticing it altogether. Regardless of the perspective, Daugherty is a very skilled writer with an excellent sense of pacing. I always thought her books were compulsively readable, but the desperate need to keep turning those pages was stronger than ever with Fracture.

If you’ve been waiting for answers about Night School and the organization, rest assured, answers you shall get. There were clues before and I had my suspicions, but in Fracture, the purpose of Night School becomes abundantly clear – and scarier than ever. Night School is proving to be a consistently good series – something we sorely lack. I hope it will get even more fans with the US release date so near.

First of all, I hate - hate - controlling men. Let me make that very clear. And with that out of the way, I'm going to say that Carter actually isn't terribly controlling and Allie is an awful partner and an incredibly stupid human being. Kinda going back to the last book because I don't quite remember where everything happened.

1. He's not controlling who she's friends with. He's saying he has a deal-breaker, and hanging out with another guy she's weirdly intimate with and, oh yeah, tried to rape her (no, not just date rape, she was physically and vocally protesting. That's not required for rape, but it wasn't even the smallest bit ambiguous and him both intentionally getting her drunk AND being actually violent with her is a huge fuck no), which Carter had to stop, is a pretty fucking fair deal-breaker. It's not even about jealousy, it's about basic respect.

2. Carter: Yo maybe don't let the girl who has only known about all of this for a handful of months and been training for even less time and a thirteen year old go out patrolling on their own.
Allie: Omgggg Carter is so controlling he doesn't believe in me what a jeeerrrrk

Of COURSE he doesn't believe in you. There's no reason for anyone to believe in you. It's not even about you (though also you just are literally incapable of making okay decisions, like you are aggressively stupid), it's about the fact that you're entirely new AND the main target (for whatever reason). This is partially a failing in timeline. It could've been fixed by not having the first three books happen in not even a year but oh well.

Review for fracture will be coming soon. Book 2 review below for the time being.

Wasn't much of a fan of legacy, it sort of enraged me actually, what with all the subliminal messages.

In lights of the whole Allie-and-Sylvain issue that went down in the first book, i had a very tough time understanding why Allie is so forgiving towards him. Fair enough, he apologised a couple of times, but he still pretty much forced himself on her. Nothing drastic happened, but to me, that's enough. I just don't trust his whole 'I'm-actually-such-a-nice guy' attitude, however many times he helps her out of shit.

The whole story was still a little questionable to me and I just couldn't deal with the whole weird love triangle, it was pretty messed up in my eyes. Honestly, did no one think about the subliminal messages and the entirely misplaced morals in the story?
On a brighter side, I quite enjoyed the first book, so i'm very much hoping Fracture will end up changing my mind and bring some redemption.

But seriously, if Allie doesn't end up with carter, i'm gonna lose my shit, yo.

Finally, I'm finishing another book of this series!
I really liked this third part. We finally get to know a bit more of Allie's family and the background of Cimmeria and the board.
Allie's friends are back with her and together they are quite badass. I really like every single one of them for their special characters.
I wasn't all satisfied with the ending, but as there are still two more books, I suspected something like this. It makes it kind of a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read on!

Fracture begins with an upset Allie, planning to leave Cimmeria. After her failed escape, Allie struggles to come to terms with the events of Legacy, and the fact she still feels, even more so than earlier, that she can't trust anyone at Cimmeria.

The romance in this novel, though subdued, is still there, and I've got to say I definitely preferred Sylvain in this book than the previous books, though Carter is still my favourite of the two. Carter did come across as a bit of a jackass in this book, which made me definitely dislike him, and I agree that him and Allie definitely appeared not to be a suitable fit here because of that.

Allie, who is struggling so much, is the perfect teenage protagonist in this series. She never appears wholly perfect, she makes mistakes, and is emotional - just like any teenage girl would be.

Night School plays a major role in this instalment, with more secrets and intrigue coming out, and the action is ramped up even further. Yet again, the ending was dramatic, and full of feels, and I'm so pleased I was able to read book 4 immediately after finishing this.

I would recommend this book to everyone, it has quickly become one of my favourite series.

This is the best book in the series!!!There's everything-I mean EVERYTHING!!!You have mystery, romance and every single thing you didn't know about Night school and Orion.
I read it in less then three days. You just can't let it out your hands. One time I was arguing with my sister, because she wanted to go to sleep and I wanted to read.OK,it was midnight,we were alone, but it was the best part.At the end she left to sleep and I was reading in the other room.No blood.Almost.
So,I don't know why,but this is the sadest book in the series.Actally, that's Legacy, but tears were just comming out of me like a river, and here is why:

1)We all miss you,Jo
2)Jules,you stupid bitch, get away from Carter!!!
3)No,seriously, leave him alone
4)Dear Carter and Allie, even Sylvain (SYLVAIN-THE WORLD'S STUPIDEST MEN(I think he's he and not she)) sees that you love each other, so please open you eyes!!!
5)Dear Carter and Allie, you can't be JUST friends!!!Or even worse friends forever. That's a really long time, and you couldn't survive one month.

So yeah,I kinda lost 2/3 of my H20,but there was also alot of BEAUTIFUL moments in this book that made me jump:

1)Goodbay Jules!!!Hope you have a car crash
2)Dark woods-yes
Dark night-oh yes
Darkeyed Carter-oh mother may I
3)Oh,you poor,stupid Sylvain.Don't you get it?Allie doesn't love you.She loves Carter
4)Dr Carter

But,there was also some moments that made me go OMG:

1)Rachel...where the hell are you?
2)Fight!Fight!Fight!
3)The letter...so creepy
4)Everything you need to know about Orion
5)It's one of the teachers-oh shit I was hoping for Sylvain!!!

This book changed my life.Actually, the whole Night school series changed my life. But this one is the best.I love that you can see how strong is Allie's friendship with Jo.This book is so emotional. So strong. So creepy. So amazing.
Thank you C.J. Daugherty!!!
Because this is special book,I won't end my review in the same way like the other ones.
We all miss you Jo.Beautiful, crazy, happy Jo.We will always love you.

Always

I really liked this book!
Things aren't looking good, everyone is tense and there is no trust... So why I liked this book? Because in such times you get to know the real character of someone. Finally, we learn more secrets about Nathaniel and his motives but to be honest I thought that it was going to have a more...supernatural feeling but it is not the case here... It is all about power and revenge but this is good too!
And as for the love triangle Allie-Carter-Sylvain? Well, I am not fan of love triangles but there are teenagers so I forgive them for their stupid actions!

Oh how I wish I would have finished this series back in 2016 when I read the first books. This book wasn’t bad or anything (okay tbh the love triangle was terrible) but I’m just not interested in this anymore. So I’m not gonna waste my time on this.

Okay,Well this book wasn't that exciting compared to the first and second book. it had some perks but there wasn't many. And I am extremely annoyed they haven't yet found out who the spy is in their school. I thought C.J Daugherty would have reviled the spy to us in this book as she didn't revile it in the second. you can't really prolong this bit of the story for long other wise it gets boring as we are waiting to find out who the spy really is so the story doesn't really move on. This what happened in this book, it was on the same page as the last book. As for Allies love interest that didn't move on as well, but I was okay with that as I understood Allie had other things on her mind.

I liked the beginning of the book, thought if she didn't get caught by the police the story might have gone much better then it had ended out. the fact that Mark was never mentioned again or played any other part was kind of surprising as Allie had told him certain important things. As to the weird police officers, the book didn't mention anything more about them too.

Normally when I am engrossed in a book I read every word, every sentence and every paragraph, and when a book looses my interest I skim through it just to see how the book ends. I found out that half I way I was skimming the book just picking up the important things and glancing over the rest. That kind of shows how I felt about this book.

So basically overall the book could have been much more better. Hopefully the next book will have more action and bring the series pace back up

God dammit ! Why is Allie back to her old self during this book ? Impulsive Allie, stupid senseless moron Allie.
Her friend is dead. Of course she has the right to mourn. But the way she deals with it is painful and she's fucking selfish. It's always me me me with her, and she is fucking annoying. I came to like her during book 2, and so I couldn't hate her in book 3. But I really wanted to because she was pathetic and being an idiot.

The book in itself was pretty slow and boring, and not as good as the first ones. It sill makes no sense, even the adults are being idiots and making weird choices.

I still wanna read book 4, because this is quite addictive. But I hope it's gonna be betetr and that Allie's gonna be smarter and more useful.
Oh and please, make your damn mind already ! You're fucking killing me with your Carter & Sylvain's issues !

Endless idiocy, poor decision-making, and romantic indecision...oh my! (and where the hell are the weapons?)

I enjoyed the first two books, though the heroine could occasionally be annoyingly indecisive. But by book 3 here (Fracture), she had taken this to a whole new level...enough that the book was mostly irritating. Throughout the book, she reverted to the exact same behavior she had grown out of in the very beginning of book 1, made endlessly annoying decisions, and is still completely incapable of making any real choice or understanding anything at all about a relationship. Stop waffling and decide between Carter and Sylvain already. Argh! Seriously girl, learn to tell people your feelings!

And another serious bone to pick here - why on earth does NO ONE CARRY A WEAPON?? All sorts of violence happening, attacks, self defense training, ultra security, but not a single gun, and almost no knives...really?

*Spoiler alert*

legacy wasnt that good to me either . syvain , he didnt just force him self on her he attacked her. i dont see that as being forgivable and carter was controlling in this book and showed no trust in her. because of that unless theres a dramatic change in him i don't see them getting back together.plus the fact it has a subliminal message in the book that kinda pointed towards carter being the spy but that might just be misleading but i really hope she has a way of bring these books back to the stander of the first book.
