Great artwork. It is perfect for the powers shown throughout the graphic novel. I love how the story is progressing, and character growth. For example, I haven't seen much to make me like Headmaster Vaughn. Up until this volume, all I saw was him being really strict, even to the point I felt it was unfair to Isen, Remi, and Blyke from the last volume. I still thought that when the Headmaster speaks to John in the first few pages, but after seeing him stand up to Mr. Keon when he started harassing Seraphina, and then saying Mr. Keon could question John when he came back with a warrant has certainly made me appreciate him more and see him in a new light.

I liked learning why Remi became obsessed with Ember. I also think that whole side storyline away from John has really grown. I was just as invested. That storyline also does a great job showing how Blyke is realizing the different and unequal treatment of the low-tiers. I at first thought he was just a hothead with a quick temper, but he actually is a decent guy. Just don't hurt the people he cares about and you can avoid his angry eyes!

Isen still annoys me, but that's only because I don't know where he stands on the issue. When Blyke told him what was happening was unfair, Isen shrugged it off. I like this group of Isen, Blyke, and Remi. They seem to be a group of really close friends who care for one another, their school, and fairness. However, Isen is still a little flat. While he cares for Blyke and Remi, he didn't show any signs of caring for low-tiers like Remi and Blyke did. He also told Cecile about John to save his school journalist instead of keeping it secret like he knew he should. That knowledge gave Cecile the green light to go behind Arlo's back!

Cecile is annoying to read about. From an earlier volume, she's represented as a bitter character who lost to Remi to become Queen. Since she knows Arlo no longer holds the official title as King, she's now caused a lot of problems by publishing that article about Seraphina. Arlo at least had some backbone when he justified the article not being published. I still don't like him, but clearly he believes in some level of fairness. He rather be second if he can't beat Seraphina in a fair fight. He was also right about the fallout. Still, he let his anger at John keep him from doing what he knew was right.

To be fair, I get it. John won't be King, yet he keeps pulling Arlo's strings. I don't know what John's problem is about his powers. He certainly had to problem using them in the last volume and remaining in control, yet it was like something about Mr. Keon in his last fight kept him from helping Seraphina. What is the real problem? What was that mental weakness Mr. Keon was talking about? What did John do during that year between New Bostin and Wellston? I like John, and think he is a good person, but that more aggressive side of him makes him sound like a whining child. I'm concerned what will happen to him when he finally loses control. He will have no one. No one wants him at Wellston except Seraphina, and she'll be to hurt that he lied to her to stand by him when she initially hears the truth.

Arlo "drawing a line in the sand" was a good ending to this volume. I do wish there had been one more scene with Remi to make sure she was okay after her fight with Waldo after she got hit, and see her reaction when she discovered what happened to Seraphina, but it was also nice to see a few extra scenes with Blyke trying to interact with John. There is so much more story to go. I'm looking forward to volume 4...which I just learned doesn't come out until August 2026. WHY?!?!

I may have to start reading the actual Webtoon.

Si au début je n’étais pas tout à fait emballée par le rythme plus lent de ce troisième tome, Uru-chan a une fois de plus su me conquérir avec son univers et ses personnages. Malgré l’absence de combats à hauts enjeux, il y a de l’action à revendre mais surtout – surtout ! – des révélations et manigences à la pelle.
Les tensions montent, les alliances changent, la hierarchie toute entière de Wellston est remise en question par des personnages aux intentions plus ou moins nobles, et il est difficile de prendre parti au milieu du tumulte qui secoue le prestigieux lycée. Et avec l’avènement d’une nouvelle super-héroine, dont les actions ne viennent pas d’une simple bonté d’âme, ce n’est qu’une question de temps avant que ça ne soit l’organisation toute entière de la société par rangs qui se voit remettre en question…

If you're looking for a fast-paced high school super-hero action series with great character development, I definitely recommend!

I'm not usually a big graphic novel fan, but this story is riveting! It has a pacing issue that most graphic novels suffer from (not enough happens in each book), but I care a lot more about these characters than I usually do in graphics, so, so far, it's totally fine lol The magic system is fun, if a little loosely defined, but that doesn't take away from the story as the author doesn't use it as a crutch to dig herself out of plot holes. And the class system is very interesting and realistic and is heavily focused on in this volume (good thing!). Will definitely be picking up the next volume once it's out!

The bullying of high tiers against low tiers and zeroes is just as bad as in the past. One of the few good things coming from it though is that Remi, Isen, and Blyke begin to learn the repercussions of such tensions as kids become adults and people are abused.

Before this, Remi learns that authorities don't really care about EMBER and she comes a true superhero.

Other repercussions are those of John beating Arlo and Sera losing her abilities in the past volume. These come full swing by the end of this volume. And John really spirals.

Just like volumes 1 and 2, volume 3 has had me ANCHORED. We’re seeing character dynamics change, more lore, more insight into other regions of their world, and truly understanding the social impact one’s supernatural ability has.

I don’t imagine vol. 4 will come out shortly, but when it does, I will definitely be one of the first to get my hands on a copy. This shits way better than My Hero Academia.

I have been reading this series on Webtoon for a very, very long time. I am loving every serial, every arc and every character. The progression between the here and now is outstanding and I can't wait to see where this ends.
