This newest addition to the precious alien cowboy series should probably not be read as a standalone. The book hits the ground running following the events at the end of book 2 with Garrek (H) and his ward, Killian, escorting Magnolia (h) to her groom-to-be. Some casual mentions of previous world-building and prior characters’ names assume the reader would have a sense of the series already I think.
Even though I’ve read all the books, the start felt a little off for me because of that dropped-right-back-in feeling. But damn did the characters and their beautiful relationship development make up for it as we went along. This is now my favorite of the series and it even squeezed some tears out of me too. Thank you to Lana for the super fun buddy read! She knew it was going to be one of the best of the series before I did too.
Written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama, om drama in the sense that h is technically engaged to H’s cousin. H is inexperienced and h appeared to have some experience but not talked about.
So Garrek comes across as a grump, but he’s really a caring and wonderful guy, just hasn’t had any softness in his life before. He’d do anything for those he cares about and he puts others before himself. He's also fighting big feelings as their journey continues because of the temptation of Magnolia. Killian, poor kid, has also experienced no softness and he takes an immediate shine to Magnolia. I adored the humor and specialness a young alien character added to this dynamic. Part of the beauty of the development that happens includes Killian and Garrek’s connection. Magnolia traveling with them brings a whole new world to them with her compassion, softness, and sweetness. Loved the background that Magnolia had and the depth it gave to her character as well.
The slow build of Magnolia and Garrek falling into longing and the complicated feelings over it since she technically belongs to Garrek’s cousin, Oaken, whew. Once again, the depth of the emotions deserve so much shout out and will hit you hard, not just between the love interests, but also because of Killian. There are also a couple of intense scenes involving survival on this alien planet that’ll get your blood pumping. The wonderful bits of humor are still present however so you'll laugh just as often as you might need to rub an ache away from your chest.
As for another reason for blood pumping *nudge nudge*, naturally the burn is slow for physical intimacy as well given their situation. Never fear, we get the glorious misnomers and then the infamous cocktail still lol. Not a lot of steam, there are two scenes (plus an earlier self pleasuring one), but it's still well-written and exactly right for them.
The ending is super sweet and lovely and that HEA brightness of their wedding with everyone they care about involved in a way. Because Oaken still needs assistance, they don't get to be settled back to their own homestead area for a bit, but there's still a settled in feeling alongside the general happiness of two characters in love cementing that love. Plus Oaken adds a last touch of extra sweetness and alien misunderstanding. I cannot wait for the next books in this series and I may cry when we reach the end because Ursa Dax should write in this world forever.

I’m seriously addicted to this series. These books are comfort reads! I loved Magnolia and Garrek so much. And Killian is absolute chaos in the best way. I was laughing at his little antics the whole time.
Their travel across the mountains gave major found family vibes. Watching them become a family unit gave me all the warm fuzzies. The ending was perfect, and now I’m dying for Oaken’s book!

He really tried to ignore his feelings for her because he felt like he owed so much to his cousin 😭🫂.
I rally love Magnolia🙂♥️,the way she was so gentle with Killian!!!! And also because she's the eldest daughter!!!
I love the way Garrek, cherished the bar of soap Magnolia gave him😭 just because she'd made it and it smelled like her!!!!
The way when she gave him a crochet stuffed beaver because he had never had a stuffed animal and he put it in his coat pocket!!!😭 That scene was so wholesome 🫂.
The way he told her to tell him about the book she was reading because she had mentioned doing it for one of her elderly patient😭🫂

Awwwwww I just loved Garrek and his ooey gooey center. Magnolia was an optimist and a naturally nurturing person to sweet Killian. I love a good grumpy sunshine. I was a bit nervous for this book because things that lean into the realm of even pseudo-cheating can be rough for me, but I thought it was tastefully done. My heart breaks every time we learn about what the MMCs did as a child to end up in cowboy exile, and Garrek’s story was no exception. He needed Magnolia to teach him that he was actually good.

This one was such a fun, heartfelt adventure! Ursa Dax always finds a way to give us grumpy aliens with soft, gooey centers, and Garrek was no exception.🤭

Total heartbreak moment because she’s been the one that’s most excited for this moment 😭 But lucky for her (and for us readers), Garrek, her fiancé’s cousin, is heading in that direction and gets roped into escorting her. He’s all gruff, no-nonsense, “you’ll slow me down” vibes at first, but let’s be real… he never stood a chance. The attraction between them sparks almost instantly, and watching him slowly realize Magnolia isn’t helpless at all but strong, kind, and everything he secretly wants? Loved every second of it.
One of my absolute favorite parts, though, was Garrek’s relationship with Killian. Their banter was hilarious, their bond was so much deeper than they let on, and Magnolia really helped bridge the gap between them. The tenderness underneath their bickering gave me all the warm fuzzies. 💙💙
And Oaken—oh my goodness. Literal sweetheart. The way he only wanted what was best for his cousin melted my heart. I’m already counting down until his book because I know it’s going to wreck me (in the best possible way)🫣😩
Overall, this one gave me road-trip romance, grumpy/sunshine tension, found family feels, and a heroine who refuses to be underestimated. It’s the perfect mix of swoony and fun, and I couldn’t stop smiling while reading🫶🏼🫶🏼

Another great addition to this series!
It’s the third book and features the story of Magnolia and Garrek. Magnolia is another of the human brides in the program, but her intended alien cowboy husband Oaken was physically injured in the journey to her, and therefore Magnolia must go to him.
Her roadtrip partners are Oaken’s gruff cousin Garrek, who didn’t participate in the human bride program, and his teen ward Killian. But as Magnolia begins to grow closer to her traveling companions, and feel things for Garrek she should be feeling for Oaken, little does she know Garrek is kicking himself for losing a chance with her.
I would say this is the least spicy entry in the series, but the emotional cuteness was turned up three notches, so it pretty much equated itself out. I love how Magnolia got Garrek to slowly open up to her more and more; he was a TOUGH nut to crack, but pairing him up with Magnolia’s sunny disposition was a good move on Ursa Dax’s part.
So far I’ve really adored the pairings of these couples in each book, and couldn’t picture them each with anyone else. I was expecting Oaken to be the feature MMC of the next book, but looks like he’ll have to take a back seat (again) for a certain colony warden…

It’s the third book and features the story of Magnolia and Garrek. Magnolia is another of the human brides in the program, but her intended alien cowboy husband Oaken was physically injured in the journey to her, and therefore Magnolia must go to him.
Her roadtrip partners are Oaken’s gruff cousin Garrek, who didn’t participate in the human bride program, and his teen ward Killian. But as Magnolia begins to grow closer to her traveling companions, and feel things for Garrek she should be feeling for Oaken, little does she know Garrek is kicking himself for losing a chance with her.
I would say this is the least spicy entry in the series, but the emotional cuteness was turned up three notches, so it pretty much equated itself out. I love how Magnolia got Garrek to slowly open up to her more and more; he was a TOUGH nut to crack, but pairing him up with Magnolia’s sunny disposition was a good move on Ursa Dax’s part.
So far I’ve really adored the pairings of these couples in each book, and couldn’t picture them each with anyone else. I was expecting Oaken to be the feature MMC of the next book, but looks like he’ll have to take a back seat (again) for a certain colony warden…

These books are my new personality. Each one has been better than the last, and this is by far my favorite in the series so far. Magnolia and Garrek are so perfect together, and I loved Killian so much. I hope we see more of them in future books.
This is technically a standalone, but I’d definitely recommend reading at least the second book in the series before this one. It picks up right when Garrek takes Magnolia from Darcy and Fallon’s, and the context of how she got there is useful.

I just don't see how this series can get any better, but it sure does! I loved this one. To be fair, I loved the other two as well, but there is just something about a gruff grumpy bear that's pining hard in secret. And super protective. Even though these are technically standalones (new couple each book), I would for sure start at the beginning.
Garrek is tasked with bringing the adorable and super sweet Magnolia to her future husband Oaken, who is laid up with a broken foot (leg?) and couldn't collect her when she reached the new planet. Magnolia is 100% on board with getting married - she is more than ready to go and not even grumpy Garrek and his naughty ward, Killian, can dampen her excitement. So the three set off on a road trip that is just such a fun little adventure. Along the way feelings shift, the pining is strong and Killian is the best and just about made me cry. I loved the relationship between these three, but Garrek and Killian - OMG. 🥰
Just another fantastic book in this series. I cannot wait for more!

Loved every bit of this one. Killian is a hoot, which basically reminded me of my siblings' antics.
Plus, what's with these males and butchering the name of female anatomy?😭 I mean, we had "Clitorasaurus." From Fallon and Now "Nip-holes and Clitohorse."
I was just dying with laughter tbh.
Overall, I love them so much, tho.🤭🥹🫶

this is the cutest, sweetest, most romantic little book I ever read in my life and I truly cannot stop crying.
GARREK IS THE MAYOR AND CEO OF YEARNNNN CITY BABYYYYYYYY. I highlighted damn near every quote.
Cause why did I highlight 101 things in a 250 page book? I was invested beyond belief I can’t shut up about these damn alien cowboys.
- He’s a gruff, grumpy, lowkey teddy bear, lonely, hardworking, loyal, single-dad cowboy.
- She’s a sweet, caring, gentle, intelligent nurse who is supposed to marry his cousin who she hasn’t met because he’s injured in the mountains.
- He says he’ll take her to him.
- You know what happens next I’m sure 😩
- He doesn’t want to fall in love with her. But oh boy does he. And it breaks your heart.
These two boys fall head over heels for her. And what a story of finding your home.
My fav quote:
“When I said no to the bride program, I had no idea it could be her. If she were any other woman – any other woman, Killian! – I would not feel like my heart is being ripped up and out of my throat every time I so much as look at her!

I love love loved this! I have been anticipating this book ever since the 2nd book came out. Amd i flew threw it, could hardly put it down.
And i had a blast buddy reading this with RLbooks.
This book had emotional DEPTH. I was very surprised that it wasn't all fun and games. This was a great slow burn with a lot of emotions. It definitely had it's funny moments that had me cracking up and some really intense moments that had me on the edge of my seat.
The relationship between Magnolia and Garrek is beautiful and such a different dynamic than the other couple. I also loved Killian and Garrek's relationship that really took me by surprise.
This definitely rivals my love of the first book! It was everything i wanted and more!
The only thing i wanted was more physcial contact prior to their relationship. There is some but i would have loved more more more to ramp up the chemistry and scratch the itch i need for some fluff. But that didnt hinder my enjoyment at all.
Oaken😭😭 i cant wait for this sweet sweet guy to get a book! He was so understanding and accepting of the situation. I loved the connection between garrek and oaken.
Beautiful wholesome read. I would recommend having read the prior books first, it throws you into the thick of it so i feel like you should read the other 2 to know what's going on.
Cant wait for the rest of the books!!

Down bad for this grumpy, secretly gooey man (well, blue alien but yeah). Magnolia was a great match for gruff Garrek and young Killian, with her gentle strength and heartwarming Mama instincts. The found family vibes, the slightly broken people finding healing and redemption in their new relationships, the adorable hugging lessons….It’s just so lovely. And the forbidden aspect, with Magnolia being (blindly) engaged to another man, and them fighting the attraction on a perilous road trip to find him? Whew yes please. I also loved the way Oaken handled it all, his clear love and support for his cousin’s happiness. Oh and when Garrek wears her little stuffed animal like a boutonnière, I just melted all over the place. 💙

Resisting the Alien Rider is the third installment in the Cowboy Colony Mail Order Brides series and obviously I'm obsessed. This story follows Magnolia as she treks along with Garrek and Killian to finally meet her fiance.
It's giving 'stressed out single dad cowboy romance', but make it alien.

🤠 Ursa Dax absolutely nails the funny miscommunication trope. I genuinely cackled so many times throughout the book.
🤠 Killian is such a lovable and sweet feral child and was a wonderful addition to the story.
🤠 As a vegan, cucumboner is one of my new fav foods

Magnolia está muy emocionada por conocer a su nuevo esposo no importa que tenga que viajar con un alien gruñón y un adolescente, nada le arruinara la emoción pero en ese viaje empiezan a pasar muchas aventuras y Magnolia empieza a perder el corazón por el alien equivocado 🌚
Leer la historia de estos dos fue emocionante por qué digamos que es un poco prohibida, el hecho de que Garrek este ayudando a Magnolia a llegar con su nuevo esposo pero le empieza a gustar, me encanta 🤭 ambos se complementan mucho y los momentos de tensión entre ellos me tenían 😍🌚 y no olvidemos el otro factor aquí que es Killian el adolescente que está cuidado Garrek, el chico empieza a crear también una relación con Magnolia muy especial, el cómo los tres empiezan a hacer una familia y no quieren separarse 🥹
Me gustó mucho la resolución del problema, fue simple el como Oaken ayudo y fue muy comprensible con todo el asunto 💯

I just knew I KNEW I’m gonna love this book. The best book in the series yet.
Magnolia’s been excited to marry Oaken, her intended. However, when she arrived at the new place, she found out her fiance was injured so she needed to travel to him. Garrek’s on the way to Oaken and was tasked in delivering Magnolia to him while keeping care of his ward, Killian.
I love the slowburn of it, which was quite not easy to do considering this is less than 300 pages but it worked.
Magnolia and Garrek’s dynamic was great and unlike any other previous characters. We slowly learn about them and their back stories as they go on an adventure and travelling. We get to see more of the world and the new creatures. The added mix of Killian was so fun too!
Everything in this book was perfect: the banter, the yearning, the tension, the little details! It’s so good and very enjoyable to read.
The pacing was done meticulously that every chapter was important.
I needed to marinate for a few days before rating the book.
