Ghosts are usually fun. At least, they’re supposed to be when you live in Haven’s Hill, a magical town of witches, warlocks, and supernatural creatures.
Holly Harkness and Cricket Long have settled into domestic bliss after their adventure to un-hex the magic of Haven’s Hill last summer. From couples costumes to corn mazes, they’re all set to have the Fun Girl Fall (TM) of their lives.
But when a ghostly presence threatens to ruin Cricket’s annual Halloween Bash, the fledgling couple teams up to solve yet another mystery. Joined by their friends, Holly’s grandmother, Ellen, and a couple of meddling kitties, the lovebirds race against time to prevent any more accidents from hitting The Brew House and keeping the bash from being successful enough to wake the dead.
After the specter turns out to be anything but what they expected, the couple has a decision to make on how to handle the haunting. And as they reckon with the aftermath of last summer’s hex, will The Brew House be the only thing that’s haunted this Halloween?
Caroline Laine is a paranormal romance author who loves all things witchy, cozy, and magical. She lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband, Zac, her two stepdaughters, one velcro dog, and a very sweet but extremely dumb kitty. When she isn't creating whimsical small towns for witches and supernatural creatures to find love in, she can usually be found outside hiking, camping, or backpacking.
A Very Haven’s Hill Meowloween is a purr-fect cozy read for fall! This novella takes place shortly after the events in the first book, A Hex On Honeysuckle Lane, but gives enough context that it could be read as a standalone. Holly and Cricket, along with the beloved characters of Haven’s Hill, come together to solve a new mystery that threatens to ruin the Halloween festivities at The Brew House. This was such a charming novella, which I did not put down once I started. Caroline Laine does such a wonderful job creating diverse characters that are easily to fall in love with, without a hex that goes sideways ;). While it is a cozy read, heavier topics like guilt and therapy are gracefully included in the novella, similarly to A Hex on Honeysuckle Lane. I thoroughly enjoyed this and thinks it’s perfect if you are looking for a cozy, autumn read.
Thank you Caroline Laine for the ARC!! I can’t wait for the next tale in Haven’s Hill.
Thank you Caroline Laine for an ARC copy of this novella! I absolutely loved this so much and loved the cozy fall vibes. It’s the perfect quick read for October with your favorite characters from a Hex on Honeysuckle Lane! I cant wait for the next book in the series and to be back in this world!
I absolutely love the town of Haven’s Hill. The different magical folk living all together. This would definitely be my ultimate place to live. This book is a great spooky season read; or anytime read really :).
Super cute novella just in time for fall! Thanks to the author for the e-arc!

Fall air is the best kind of air. That’s the first line of chapter 2 of a Very Havens Hill Meow-loweeen. And isn’t that the truth?
Coming off the heels of her debut novel, Caroline Laine has done it again with her slice of life novella follow up. A very havens hill meowolween is a standalone novella taking place after the events of a hex on honeysuckle lane.
I tore through this novella in one sitting and I am dying for my next trip to Havens Hill.
In this adorable story following our paranormal, lesbian lovebirds, cricket and holly - we set off to solve another mystery. This time, the mystery centers around Cricket’s bar and the Halloween bash that our witch, Holly is helping her to throw.
Add in all the fun characters from the first book, a heaping handful of banter, plus an extra dose of furry friends and you have a recipe for success.
Although this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend to check out a hex on honeysuckle lane first, as there will be spoilers.
I absolutely adored "A Very Haven’s Hill Meowloween" by Caroline Laine. This fall novella is the perfect read for the autumn season, with its cozy setting and heartwarming storyline. While it is a follow-up to "Hex on Honeysuckle Lane," you can easily enjoy this book on its own.
Despite being only 80 pages long, this novella packs a punch with its nine engaging chapters. The characters are well-developed and endearing, making it easy to become invested in their lives. The themes of love, friendship, and facing difficult situations for the ones we care about are beautifully portrayed throughout the story.
Reading "A Very Haven’s Hill Meowloween" made me feel fuzzy and warm inside, like a cup of pumpkin spice latte on a chilly autumn day. Caroline Laine's writing style is engaging and easy to read, drawing the reader in from the very first page. I highly recommend this novella to anyone looking for a heartwarming and comforting read this fall season. It's a delightful story that will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired.
Pretty good for a 100 page novella! Cute, reflective, mysterious and a little spooky. Centered around Halloween time as they prepare for an epic Halloween bash, it would appear there’s a ghost in the Brew House causing havoc. Now to figure out how to trap it before someone else gets hurt, and then what to do with the ghost once they realize what they’re dealing with.
While this is more of a lighthearted cozy novella, a few content warnings: Anxiety; PTSD; references to sexual activity; complicated parental relationships; some swear words.
- Supernatural/Paranormal - LGBTQIA rep - FMC’s are in a relationship with each other - Curious cats - Magic/spellcasting - Small town vibes - High school enemies to present day lovers
I will say that it’s best to read this series in order! A lot of references in this novella that pertain to book 1, A Hex on Honeysuckle Lane. (Which was a 5 star read for me!)
Hoping to read book 2, A Wish On Willow Way, this month since it’s giving holiday cozy vibes.
Hands down, I absolutely adore these characters and their quirky personalities. Being able to read 1.5 after being a beta for book one and two was such a treat for me. You are once again greeted with Holly and Cricket, our once enemies to lovers trope and now just ridiculously cute and in love! Holly and Cricket are tasked with solving another mystery revolving Cricket’s bar and Holly’s Halloween bash.
Caroline Laine described it as a perfect combination of practical magic and Halloween town vibes just extra spice for us adults and she did not disappoint! I loved being able to see the gang back together, solving this mystery and coming together to help one another. It left me feeling warm and emotional vibes afterwards. Even though this was a short novella, I did not feel cheated or disappointed. Caroline was able to still create a well rounded and creative story including wonderful banter between the characters.
Gleeful Goblin Review: As a dedicated cat parent, the sheer amount of cat appreciation from the jump of this book is an absolute delight to me. This is also just a wonderful continuation of a sapphic love story I adored and it makes me so happy: “I love you.” “I love you, too.” Her hand slid down to cover mine for a moment as we idled at a stop sign that took us to Main Street, and I turned my face to her. I’d never get over looking at her stunning face. Or the fact that it was mine to kiss, to run my hands across, to snuggle into. She was mine, and I was hers, and my belly was full of coffee and cinnamon monkey bread, and it was a bright Fall morning in Haven’s Hill. What could get better than this? Oh, right. Halloween decorations, hanging out with my best friends, and a costume party. My dream day." HOW CAN I NOT MELT AT THINGS LIKE THIS?!
This is now a new fave fall comfort read for me and I couldn't be happier. 5/5 Stars
One again Caroline has combined cute and cosy with spooky vibes, perfectly. This time by creating a heartwarming novella that is a perfect read for the autumnal and spooky season!
It was wonderful to see how the characters of Haven Hill are doing following A Hex on Honeysuckle Lane, and to see that a certain couple are still thriving. I absolutely love the vast range of unique characters that are all fully fleshed out, and so loveable. The found family vibes of this series were soaring in this book and I am here for it!! It's left me feeling all warm and happy.
It's definitely the perfect little filler as we await the next Haven Hill story, and I cannot wait for more.
This was the best little pumpkin spice-flavored fall treat to brighten up my day. It’s just so freakin’ cute, heartwarming, and all around delightful. It would’ve been easy to coast on the (once again, cannot stress this enough) immaculate vibes, but we end up with some really intriguing character development in this novella that makes me love the Haven’s Hill crew even more than I already did, if that’s even possible. I want to roll myself up in a giant fluffy sweater, drink some warm apple cider, and give everyone in the Brew House an enormous hug. Make your own day better and give this a read. TREAT YOSELF!!
Such a cute Halloween/fall novella! I read an e-arc of this. It’s full of cute little day to day romance moments, a cute little mystery, and a rag tag group of friends. I actually hadn’t read A Hex on Honeysuckle Lane before this but I loved the characters so much I’m going to go back and read it. If you did read the first book before the novella then this is the perfect glimpse into the near future of your favorite characters from the book. It’s what every reader who loves characters wishes they could see.
So I absolutely adored a hex on honeysuckle lane , so when I saw this cute novella I had to read it. I wouldn’t read this if you haven’t read the first book though.
I am not a big fan of novellas because it takes me some time to be reoriented with the world and characters. I wish I re-read the first book before reading because my memory is poor 😂 but this is so cute and whimsical and cheesy but I loved it and it has some great messages about self love too. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
This is the perfect novella for this fall season! I loved A Hex on Honeysuckle Lane, so I was so excited to read this and let me tell you it did not disappoint! I'm so thankful to have received an ARC of this novella thank you so much Caroline Laine. The characters are once again everything and I was so excited to read more about the wonderful town of Haven's Hill. This novella is the perfect for getting into the fall season and I can't wait to see what's next for Haven's Hill!
A fun little slice of life featuring all the fall vibes, witchy goodness and humour. So perfect read for a cozy fall day. Get your blankets, hot beverage and this book ready for a good time.
A Very Haven's Hill Meowloween is a cozy Halloween novella that will warm your heart. A tale about friendship, witches, Sirens, Fae and ... Cats?
A fun and quick little read that takes you back to the characters you know and love from A Hex on Honeysuckle Lane.
I loved this book so much, I am so glad that I got to spend more time with these characters. I am really excited for book 2 later this month. The characters were amazing as always and I really loved the little new character that was introduced to us in this book. The vibes were just immaculate and it is perfect for Halloween.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Hop aboard the cosy cuteness train! A lovely lowstakes Halloween novella where we meet up in Cricket's bar, where preparations for a Halloween party are in full swing!
This definitely left me wanting more, and I'm looking forward to the next full book in this series that's planned to come out later this year.
This was my introduction to havens hill and I am hooked. Not having read the first book didn’t take away from this experience :)
I loved meeting all the characters and going on this short fall adventure with them. The vibes were so cozy, I’m a little jealous I can’t be friends with Cricket, Holly and Blake. Definitely going back to read book one asap.
What a treat (Ha!) to get an ARC and revisit these characters and setting. The characters are working together and seeking help to recover from the events of book one. I'm glad they were still dealing with consequences from that, it made the character development and relationship development seem more realistic. The culprit was guessable. This certainly whet my appetite for book two!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was such a cute look into the close future for Cricket and Holly, I loved revisiting them and seeing them grow and be there for one another:) A sweet, cozy little novella for all of us who love A Hex on Honeysuckle Lane, perfect for fall!!
This is the book I've been looking for. A cutsy wholesome Autumnal read. This was perfect novella after A Hex on Honeysuckle Lane. I can't wait for the next book in the series and I really hope we get to see more of Cas-purr 🐱
This is an adorable witchy novella about Cricket and Holly and their friend group having to figure out what is going on at Crickets bar before the big Halloween bash. I couldn’t read it fast enough! I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Such a cute and cozy read just in time for fall. Chai cookies, and other delicious fall goodies are mentioned that make me crave them even more a little bit, spooky less adventure than the first, but such a cozy read.
ARC Review This novella is the perfect read for fall! It's an easy read that has a delightful story. I like the characters and the magical town of Haven's Hill. I'm excited to read more from Caroline Laine. I would recommend this Halloween Mystery!
The perfect autumn novella! I loved the first book in this series & this one was such a fun & quick read for the beginning of fall. I definitely recommend reading book one before this one just to get a full idea of the people, town, etc!
This was a lovely little tie over while we wait for book 2. I love how it touches on a few little bits from book 1. Honestly super looking forward to book 2.
