Robert M. Kerns (or Rob if you ever meet him in person) is a geek, and he claims that label proudly. Most of his geekiness revolves around Information Technology (IT), having over fifteen years in the industry; within IT, he especially prefers Servers and Networks, and he often makes the claim that his residence has a better data infrastructure than some businesses.
Beyond IT, Rob enjoys Science Fiction and Fantasy of (almost) all stripes. He is a voracious reader, with his favorite books too numerous to list.
Rob has been writing for over twenty years, and "Awakening" is his debut novel.
So the last book was setting up the Fae invasion of Earth and the big reveal of the supernatural to the mundane. It now seems like the author had written himself into a corner so just Deus ex machina a couple page "solution" slapped in a sacrifice to try to give it some weight and tied up all the loose ends. So that's where the book is, back to early book storytime where the bad guy is again a hopelessly overmatched mundane who is fantastically arrogant and our MC gets the easy win. Also it seems that every other person wets themselves and poos themselves
This one was just okay. One of the problems was that it had been 3 years since the last book came out. 3 years between book 3 and 4 is a little too much. The second problem for me is that nothing much happened. It was pretty much the same thing over and over again. Someone acts like an asshole and Wyatt has to put them in their place. He hates assholes and bullies and has all the power in the world to stop them, so he does. I don't know where this one is heading. I still like it but not as much as the early books.
They story was not as expected. Doesn’t pick up right at the end of book three, but overall a decent addition to the series. Wish the book had more meat on its bones story wise, and was closer to book 2 content wise. But still an enjoyable read with a few big twists and turns.
As always, the author delivers a well written interesting story, with excellent characterizations and clean presentation. Excellent continuation of the Progenitor series, with several unexpected twists.
Decent book, well written. Strange trajectory. Plot jumps from one non-linear and often engineered crisis to another. Not a fan of the whole Moira debacle. Spoiler, she dies because of months of mc procrastination and complete lack of communication between members of magnusson family. They have a fae scout who swears life long loyalty to mc if he will protect her from merlin. A simple mention btw wyatt or vicki with their grandparents about even having a fae in their care probably gives merlin a heads up before he does his suicide thing.. God forbid Wyatt actually attempted to communicate with the woman living in his house or merlin about it.
There are so many errors of various sorts from basic issues with the text to story consistency and on and on and on that this is more like a joke or scam than what I'd call a proper book. - The issues just keep piling on at what seemed to me an increasing rate. It was to the point, 3/4's through, that I found myself taking breaks from reading just about once or more per chapter. - When blatant, slap you in the face, contradictions to what one reads in one chapter show up in the next, as in just a few paragraphs later, one starts to wonder what the heck is going on with whomever authored the wreck one is trying to get through.
I do not recommend this so called book to anyone. I truly hope the author will take it down and re-write it and do a proper job of it but honestly I am starting to wonder if He, They or It is capable of doing so.
I found the cover art to be the only real positive that comes to mind about this book. Even though the Smilodon and Short Faced Bear depicted do not match my imagination. ;)
I can see this both a finale, or the beginning of the next chapter. Will the US and the world become aware of shifters and the Magi? Will a Shifter Madame President lose her cool and slap the head right off someone if they attack her "cubs"? Is the entire country now her cubs? Come on dear Author so many unanswered questions that deserve the next book or several next books.
While I throughly enjoyed this series, this last book left off with some unanswered questions. I'm unsure if there will be another book or not but I'll like to know what happen to President and her family... Anyway still one of the best shifters book I've read in a while.
Overall Rating: 4* for this book However, 5* - For the entire series
Like every other title in this series, Tempus is an epic read!
The imagination it takes to world-build to this extent is totally outside my ken, yet Robert Kerns displays his mastery so easily and with such facility and grace - I am continually astonished.
I love the characters he’s created for this series, and I am always completely engrossed when a new book in this group comes out that my husband temporarily becomes a story widower until I finish the last page!
I’ve read only a few other books that this author has written (the 1st Cole & Srexx among them), but I’m beginning to get a good feel for the kind of amazing talent he has to offer… can’t wait to pick up my next Robert Kerns novel!
