I have a love and hate relationship with this book. I couldn't get ahold with the rythm of it and it took me a while to get into the story. Around 40% in the book, I could start liking it better and the plot began to be quite interesting.
Maybe the setup of the characters was a bit off for my taste. The story though was good. I liked the idea of Gideon being the saviour and the one putting Beverly again in danger. I liked his darkness and I liked that he wanted redemption for all he did and was patient with her even though he was obsessed with her.
On the other hand I am sorry but I can't stand Beverly. I understand she has gone through some trauma, but she seems to forget and gets into the same issue over and over. Her taste in men doesn't change, her way of healing is not working and yet she keeps not trying to change it. She keeps needing Guideon to guide her to a better life but she keeps wanting to make things difficult. If I would have seen a bigger growth in her or a real acknowledgement of her on mistakes most likely my perception would be different.
By all means this is a personal opinion of the book and I wouldn't like it to be taken as one to not give a chance on the book, it may be the one for you!
This book has a mix of violence, sex, stalking, etc. so pay attention to the trigger warning if you have concerns. I, luckily, do not have triggers. I am typically a psychological thriller reader, but enjoy many different genres.
I enjoyed reading Whispers of Obsession, and the story line kept me interested and wanting to keep reading! The main characters, Beverly and Gideon, have many layers which also added to the story line. The book is written from the perspectives of both main characters. I feel this made it more interesting, as the story wasn’t told from one singular perspective.
I stopped reading around 50%. This book didn't work for me.
It's possible you might like it more than I did. If reading this review makes you interested in this book, consider adding it to your tbr and reading it.

What I liked I thought the writing was easy to read. I was intrigued by the darkness of the book. It started off dark right out of the gate which made me want to read more. I thought Beverly and Gideon were interesting, especially Gideon. Gideon is a morally grey, somewhat unhinged stalker mmc.
What didn't work for me This story needed more details. It felt confusing and incomplete at times. And Beverly and Gideon didn't work for me as a couple. I liked them individually, apart, but together not so much.
This was an ARC read and review. I'm grateful to the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
DNF- 15% I can already tell it’s isn’t the book for me and there’s no point in reading something I know I’m not going to enjoy
The writing is already flat, the character are boring and the ngl I don’t like either one of them and I’m only 50pages into the book
The fmc- seem very whiny and I know she going to annoy me
The mmc- I can tell he isn’t a tough as he thinks he is, the beginning with the killing process tells me he have too much “feeling” 🤣 which is a ME ISSUE I want him to be possessive and have no remorse from the beginning and not think about her feelings for such a “powerful” man
Thank you for the arc but sadly it isn’t the book for me
I LOVED the push and pull of Gideon and Beverly’s relationship. You truly never knew what you were going to get chapter by chapter as each character is so complex and unpredictable. The duel POV with flashbacks was amazing and although it took me a minute to understand the timeline I was so immersed with the story and latched on so quickly. Rhiver did an absolutely amazing job of keeping the story fast paced but it never lacked any details or left me wanting more. The spice and the game of who was going to dominate who was perfection!!
This book started off great. I was absolutely immersed into the storyline right away. I think the storyline itself is great, however, Beverly just wasn't it for me. I tried really hard to like her, but I couldn't. I just found her to be such a contradiction. Gideon was great. I loved him. I also felt that they didn't make sense together. They were both just too dominant to work. Their behavior towards each other was a little weird. Gideon was completely obsessed with her... which, typical psycho guy.. and I loved that... swears he'd do anything to be with his girl and have her, but then, throws her out of his office because they shouldn't be doing "that" there. There was a lot of banter and tension between them and I thought that would lead to some great spice. And while this book is very spicy, the spice between Gideon and Beverly felt awkward to me. I also found the story to be a bit repetitive. I did, however, love the writing style. The story was easy to follow and that made it quick and easy to read. Everything outside of Beverly and Gideon had my attention and I enjoyed that part of the story line more than the two of them. I love the age gap between them and that she was plus size... but I felt like every time her description was mentioned, it was too weight focused. While... I think that Beverly and Gideon wasn't for me, I did enjoy the other parts to this story and the writing enough that I would continue to read books from Rhiver Rhose.
There were many things I enjoyed about this book. The push and pull of their relationship, his possessive/protectiveness, spice, etc. I felt the writing was easy to follow and hooked me from the beginning. I liked the storyline and characters. So much of the book was spent describing flashbacks, building up to their relationship, the exchanges outside their relationship (her with subs and him pursing violence/stalking), and the breaking down of their relationship and the time spent apart after the revelations were made. The ending for me felt rushed. At 98%, they still weren’t back together after not really having very long together in the book. For me, I would have liked to see more relationship development and spicy scenes between the two main characters. I felt like I got everything I needed out of the other parts of the story and understanding the characters but wished to see a little more of them together before and after she finds out the truth. There were also some typos that were distracting for me and in some places caused me to have to reread. Overall, I really enjoyed the book but felt a little let down I didn’t get to read more of them as a happy couple. ARC reader
This book started out strong for me. I was chuckling at the fact that both FMC and MMC were dominant and their first sexual encounter they were both fighting for control. After that though it kind of went downhill for me. I never fully got into the story as it was all pretty basic to me. Gideon was overly possessive over Beverly who didn’t seem to even want anything to do with him. She was always finding herself in some sort of trouble with a man and was always ignoring red flags she herself pointed out. I did not care for Beverly at all. I’m all for a morally grey MMC, but Gideon took it beyond morally grey. He had such an anger issue to literally anyone except Beverly. There was very little backstory to either character. I would’ve liked to know more about Gideon. The only backstory he got was the fact that his father used to beat his mother and that’s why he doesn’t take kindly to men abusing women. That was less than a paragraph near the end of the book. Overall the story was lacking and felt a bit forced at times. It took me almost 2 weeks to read this book when I normally take about 3 days for an enjoyable book even longer than this one.
I loved this book, I loved the banter between Gideon and Beverly. I liked how Beverly went through things that you will find out about and she is trying to heal herself by figuring out what she wants. While Gideon is always there lingering. Beverly wasn't always my favorite, she really seemed contradicting through a lot of the book. She would say or do something and then completely do the opposite just a little bit later. Gideon also had some flaws where he wasn't always the strong stalker MMC that you would normally see. He kept wanting and looking for approval for what he was doing. This book did hook me and kept me intrigued with what was going to happen. I felt like both Gideon and Beverly were a good match. He kept causing her to get involved in things and She would just walk into them. Then they both would expect him to save her. I liked the dual POV where you got to see from both Gideon and Beverly. I also liked how you also got the dual POV in the flashbacks in the story to see where both MC where coming from.
🩸Morally Grey/Unhinged MMC 🩸Possessive MMC 🩸Touch her and ☠️ 🩸Curvy FMC 🩸Stalker 🩸Multi POV
OKAY this amazing book starts out with Beverly (the older beautiful curvy and body proud 👏FMC) Bakery owner who uses men 😉 in her spare time as a way to deal with her trauma from losing her husband and being held captive and abused by the same men, And Gideon the crime boss MMC holding into a dark secret who has also been stalking Beverly for years amd scaring off all her one night stands 😉 he is OBSESSED! The battle of who will dominate 😉 commences whilst Gideon knows the truth ALWAYS finds a way to come out one way or another.
so the question is who will win in the end? 😉 will his obsession and devoution be enough?
you will just have to read this downright incrediblely written Dark spicy stalker romance book by Rhiver Rhose to find out 😘🖤
Available on the 21st of September on Amazon and KU 🖤 and available for pre-order now!
I was selected as one of the ARC readers for this book and I almost DNF’d it a few times but I’m so glad I didn’t!!
You honestly cannot tell from the cover but these are the vibes: 👉🏽 morally gray mmc 👉🏽 curvy fmc 👉🏽 touch her and 💀 👉🏽 stalker + possessive mmc 👉🏽 spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Let me first start by saying this is my first Rhiver Rhose book it was an easy read less than 400 pages. I liked the FMC from jump but I just wasn’t a fan of her being a “lady dom” which caused me to almost DNF this. Overall I really liked the book but some parts of the book I had to stop to understand or remember how we got here. I feel like the first part of the book was a little confusing with the amount of flash backs but that was needed to establish the characters then towards the end, it felt rushed with them getting back together and the epilogue.
I’m rating this book a 3 star due to I have more questions about the fmc past life and I would maybe recommend this book to someone else.
Gideon is a fierce CEO and crime boss that holds power and demands attention in the board room and out. He gets what he wants and takes no for an answer.
Beverly is a bakery owner with a traumatic past she's trying to heal from. Taking control in her own way she has learned to love her life.
There is so much to this book and I ate it up. There is.... Stalking, dual POV ,age gap she's older, dom/sub,kidnapping, he's obsessed, morally grey MMC, it is a Dark romance please check triggers on this on. Content has unaliving and d.v . But it has an amazing story of drama healing and a man that knows how to treat a lady in and out of the sheets 🫠. She can't help but melt for him even when she hates him. It ends with a HEA and even tells a bit of how the future is. You will not regret reading this book.. it may be slow for some, but give it time.
Beverly, the FMC, has been dealt some trauma; she thought her past was in the past. I'm still not sure if I like her as a character; she was very "I'm going to change", but never changed. Just too milk-and-water.
Gideon, the MMC, is a complex man. He seemed to always be searching for approval, which can cause issues in itself. Then he turned into this strong, possessive stalker. I genuinely enjoyed this character, and constantly whooped for him.
The banter between Gideon and Beverly was nice, I liked it. It was also nice to see their relationship develop into what it became. Pacing took a little getting used to, but I loved the dual POV (flashbacks were also dual, so that was great, too). The epilogue was a nice touch.
Whispers of Obsession has good spice, plot, and character development.
What you get...... ♡Dark Romance ♡Morally Grey MMC ♡Unhinged MMC ♡Crime Boss ♡Bakery Owner ♡Curvy FMC ♡Age Gap ♡She's Older ♡Stalking ♡Touch Her and ☠️ ♡Spicy ♡Dom/Domme/Sub ♡Violence ♡Kidnapping ♡Strong Independent Woman ♡Trauma ♡Obession ♡Possessive ♡Trauma Healing ♡Good Banter ♡Second Chance Romance ♡HEA ♡Dual POV
Beverly and Gideon are both dominant. They are always fighting for control, and the spice is 🥵🔥🥵🔥
I enjoyed their story and the push and pull of their relationship. You never knew where the story was going with these two. The ending was great, and I hope we get more from them in the future!
⚠️Please read the trigger warnings before starting this book⚠️
Beverly, a strong independent woman who has had to heal and fix herself from some of the most horrors someone can endure finds herself attracted to a man that changes her world view Gideon, a scary man who is partly responsible for Beverly horrors finds himself wholly obsessed with Beverly and will do absolutely anything for her!
I amazed by the way Gideon was protrayed. He was insanely possessive and jealous but he also let Beverly do everything and anything she needed to heal, even if after he took some crazy methods for himself 🤣 I throughly reading this book and feeling so immersed in the trauma Beverly had to endure and overcome to finally reach and accept what she wanted. The epilogue chapter was one of my favorites and a perfect ending
I was so hoping to love this book, but I just couldn't. I made it 60% and had to dnf. I hardly ever dnf a book. I didn't care for the FMC and how wishy washy she was. One moment, she's dominant the next she's not, and not just in the bedroom, but in her everyday life. I also felt like there was too much use of terms of endearment throughout the book. The MMC was obsessive, and I liked him, but I just felt he was lacking in some way. I felt like this book could have been shorter, and it would have been better. It just felt wordy to me. This is my opinion, and others loved it, and that makes me so happy for the author. It just wasn't my thing.
I spent 4 nights reading this and I couldn’t tell you the plot of the book. Let’s break it down
Beverly is a want to be BDSM girl who is trying to find her identity but also like is easily push over. She spends the majority of the book playing a victim while trying to convince herself she’s not a victim.
Gideon is not as scary as he thinks he is. No real morally grey character has had to “beat up” their best man just to keep appearances. I get stalker but this man couldn’t even tell you why.
The amount of times Beverly’s appearance gets mention. Like okay why make a character that everyone degrades? Like that is not okay.

The push and pull between Gideon and Beverley was certainly something else.
All of the suffering Beverley had to go through was so sad, and I am kind of upset with Gideon about some of it. But at least Beverley tried everything to take her life back and stay strong. She made me proud in how strong she stayed.
Gideon is just something else. Making sure to always keep his eyes on Beverley (yes okay, st@|king) and then doing what he did afterwards (iykyk)
Definitely loved the back and forth, the drama and the darkness in this book. It was a very entertaining and intriguing read.
I had the pleasure to be one of the first, if not the first to read Whispers. This story is easy to read, has a great story line, plot and character build up. Gideon and Beverly are the perfect pair. The push and pull of their relationships, his obsession with her, despite her not knowing he's the one kept me reading and wanting more. Rhiver, you've done an amazing job with this one, congratulations. I'm so proud. If you enjoy, a dark troubled possessive mafia MMC, that is willing to bend all the rules, even his own needs and desires for her, then Whispers is for you. #TeamGideon
Isn't it incredible when a book draws you in right from the first paragraph? That is exactly how this book was for me. I must say the way the author portrayed Beverly left me feeling like she was a strong woman who can get through anything. She was definitely put through some really intense situations, and she always managed to come out stronger than before. Then we have Gideon. While his stalkerish vibes would normally give me ick vibes, I was left feeling like I needed to find me my own Gideon. This book is one that I will think about for a very long time!
Tropes: Touch her and ☠️ Possessive MMC Plus Size FMC Morally Grey Stalker
Ratings: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Review: This story is about Gideon and Beverly. Beverly is a plus size woman and proud of it. She is dealing with stuff from her past. Then she has a one night stand and meets Gideon a crime boss that becomes obsessed, possessive. And I love him! The ending was great. I would recommend if you are in to all the tropes it is a well written book.
Thank you Rhiver Rhose for letting me read this book. This is my honest opinion.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. I morally gray, touch her and 💀 guy with a plus size girl who has so moments that she is a strong badass.
I really enjoyed the story but the pacing of the story was a little inconsistent. At times, it was perfect, to me, and other times it felt rushed. I wish there was more character development. I still don't fully understand Gideon's obsession with Beverly. Overall, I have more questions than answers.
I can't wait to see what is next for Rhiver.
Thank you to the author for an eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I DNF this book I just simply couldn’t get into it and the MMC is a little over the top and very dramatic. He killed anyone who touched this girl but she likes dominatrix but he has a temper he can’t seem to control and it simply gave me the ick he was more then a regular stalker he was also a creep is what I thought. This is just my opinion I hope to the rest of you who read this like this book 😊

**recieved as an advance reader copy in exchange for honest review **
This was a fun fast read with a fair amount of spice and was a refreshing take on Kinky activity with actually fairly accurate take on safe words and protocols. Thankfully it wasn’t your classic domme meets the “right” man and turns submissive. Awesome character development and lovely morally grey main characters
Fast read it in one day enjoyed it quite a lot. Highly recommend it.
I feel like this was my first read of the year with an MMC so obsessive with the FMC, and I am here for it. Definitely enjoy seeing the development on MMC character to please the FMC.
I did feel like some chapters were a little repetitive, where both MCs were just repeating themselves over and not actually giving us any new information.
However, around 55% in this book was just a page turner, and I am so glad with the ending.
I am definitely intrigued to read more books from this author.
First of all let me just say the from the cover you would not expect to be diving into a stalker romance with a obsessed, touch her and blaa MMC and a curvy unlucky in love, trauma-healing FMC. For a debut I think Rhiver has done a good job with the storyline and characters, there were some areas that were a bit repetitive or choppy but personally for me it didn’t take away from the story itself. Overall this was a good read and if you enjoy obsessed stalker MMCs you should give it a read.
I wanted to love this book, but struggled with the story, the repetition, and the constant situations the FMC was in. From about 30% in, it was difficult to push through as there wasn’t a smooth flow, Beverly kept ignoring red flags and had no conscience about jumping from man to man when she was mixed up about Gideon. I love spicy romances, dark romances and sweet ones, and this had potential, but it didn’t get there for me and needed more development. 2.5 ⭐️ 2 🌶️
This is my first read by this Author and I enjoyed it. It was a quick fast paced read.
Gideon - “What kind of a man would be willing to give away something so precious…”
Beverly - “Don’t worry sweet cheeks, I will let you worship me as long as you want. If you taste nearly as good as you look, I might not be able to give you up.”
The push and pull between these two was entertaining.
Beverly has had no luck with men, terrible luck actually. But she has a unique way of healing herself and taking control of her life. Gideon is absolutely an obsessive stalker and will do anything to have Beverly and keep her safe. Their relationship is unhinged, sexual, healing, unstoppable, and is amazing. *Stalker *Abuse *Morelly Gray MMC *Secrets Revealed
This man is so obsessed with the FMC after his group lady-napped her and her “then” husband. He then lets her go and no one, I mean no one is allowed to touch her. He stalks her for many years and then finally gets up the courage to walk into her bakery and ask her out. If you like a dominant FMC and MMC who are always fighting for control and like a lot of spice than this book is for you.
