Demetra once lived a life of peace and serenity on a heavenly planet, untouched by the troubles of the universe. But when she dares to defy the ruling archangel and their oppressive system, she is cast out, stripped of her wings and her magic, and exiled to a forsaken planet—a world teeming with the outcasts of other realms. This desolate land is home to beings of all species and races, each banished for their own acts of defiance or despair.

On this harsh new world, Demetra encounters a fallen angel from her own planet, an exiled demon from another, and a shape-shifter from a long-lost kingdom. Together, they navigate a society built on misdeeds and hopelessness, where every day is a fight for survival. As Demetra grapples with her shattered faith and a life devoid of the powers she once took for granted, she must make a succumb to the darkness around her, or find a new path in this chaotic land.

In this dark fantasy, Demetra's journey is fraught with danger and moral ambiguity. Will she embrace the shadows or find a spark of light within herself?

ARC REVIEW “INFERNAL ASCENDANCY” - Book 1 in Divine Destinies ❤️‍🔥🪽

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tropes:
🪽Enemies to lovers
🪽Forbidden love
🪽Morally ambiguous protagonist
🪽Found family
🪽Exile and redemption
🪽MMF

This book follows Demetra’ story, a fallen angel, in a city where she was exiled among another magical creatures in which rules don’t exist and it is literally called Hellcity. She meets Athena, a tiger shifter female, and they easily become friends, Athena became Demetra’s only support

Then we meet our first love interest, Dracian (I love him so so much), a demon exiled by the devil himself, his father, from Inferniox. He easily becomes protective of Demetra and takes care of her even assuring her that he will be her wings and she isn’t alone. Dracian is the definition of “he is a cinnamon roll but he kills you” everything for his loved ones.

Rikarion is the second love interest which most of the time was getting on my nerves because of this attitude towards Demetra, he despises her, actually he is jealous because she was Daniel’s love interest for a while in Celestium, the angels world. After he endures some hardships and he needs to kill some angels he realises that he can be free from Daniel’s control and can love truly someone elses.

I really loved the side plot with Dracian and Rikarion being detectives while looking for a demon with red wings who kills angels it reminds me of Shadowhunters and I loved it. I also loved how close the characters became and how they found each other while being in despair with their life stories, found family trope hits every time.

To be honest, I wanted more interactions between Rikarion and Dracian I wanted to see more of them together their actions towards each other and the evolution of the relationship I wanted to be explored more to see their dynamic.

I loved this book so much it feels like watching a whole tv show so much action so many things happening and a lot of characters. I read some reviews and some said is just smut?! Barely in the half book was the 1st romantic scene and the rest of them were in the last 100 pages. The book is based on plot, on twist plots, I really couldn’t breathe at the 50 pages left in the book it was so intense but 100% worthy.

This volume was incredibly detailed from every point of view. Since it’s the beginning of the series, it lays the foundation for the entire universe, offering tons of information to help us understand where everything is happening. There were a few intriguing secondary characters that caught my attention, and I’m really curious if they’ll get their own stories. I guess I’ll find out in book 2 or 3 or maybe never! 🤣

The main characters definitely sparked my interest. We have Demetra, who used to be, let’s say, the lover of a powerful, arrogant angel who couldn’t stand to be contradicted. And because Demetra dared to speak her mind, she was punished: her wings were cut off and she was cast out of Celestium into Hellcity, the home of the fallen.

There, we meet Rikarion, a kind of assassin (if I can call him that), and Dracian, some kind of demonic police officer. The paths of these three characters cross repeatedly throughout the story, forming interesting connections and slowly building something more.

I really empathized with Demetra. I understood her attitude and her point of view so well. She’s that kind of strong female character who knows her worth and refuses to be walked over anymore. Even after being punished, she tries to adapt, to rebuild her life and integrate into this new reality.

Dracian was such a sweet surprise! Despite being a demon 😈, he has a gentle soul. He’s kind, empathetic, and thoughtful. Through his small, meaningful gestures, he totally won me over. I’m literally smiling like an idiot just thinking about him right now.

Rikarion, on the other hand, was a real challenge. He’s arrogant, full of himself, and acts like the world owes him everything because he’s the best of the best. But as the story progressed, I realized this was all just a mask. Behind his bad boy attitude lies a lot of pain. Deep down, he just wants to be loved for who he is, not for what he can do or what he has. He longs to be appreciated, but no matter what he tries, he can’t seem to catch the attention of the one being he truly wants. And at some point, he has to find the strength to break free from that toxic love and finally start building the life he deserves.

Even though these characters are supernatural, DARI managed to make them feel incredibly human and real. I saw pieces of myself in all three of them. Even Rikarion, who I couldn’t stand at first, grew on me. As I got to know him better, I realized he’s just a tortured soul, longing for love… just like the rest of us.

I also loved that the story is told from a triple POV, which allowed me to get inside each character’s head, to feel their thoughts and emotions, and watch their relationships form and grow over time.

There was one particular scene (no spoilers!) that DARI wrote so meticulously… every gesture, every feeling was captured. Nothing was left out. Each character received exactly the amount of affection and care they needed in that moment 💫. It was a powerful reminder that yes, stories can be both fantastical and emotionally authentic.

And that ending… it shattered me. Broke my heart into a million little pieces. I did not see it coming. The epilogue made me cry, and I kept hoping that maybe, just maybe, it was all an illusion.

Now I’m super curious to see what happens in book 2, and whether there’s any hint related to the ending of book 1… but we’ll see what the story has in store 📖✨

Infernal Ascendancy was my introduction to the world of Dari A. Malaunt. A world filled with angels, demons, and everything in between. A world of power, instincts, and desires. A world of the desired and undesired.

When a fallen angel finds herself in the lawless Hellcity, her new life will begin. A life of uncertainty but still a life of newfound freedom. Demetra navigates these unknowns and tries to find her place, friendship, and even love. She will find all of that and more. She will also learn the truths of the world she's left behind and its ruthless leader.

Amid it all, hurt, anger, and the need for revenge will claw their way into her heart.

The beginning of the book was a bit slower, and it took some time for me to truly immerse myself. The story is deep and dark and not for those faint of heart. The ending was devastating, and it hurt. Still, I understand why the story ended the way it did—not all endings are happy, and the definition of a happy ending may not be the same for everyone.

Infernal Ascendancy is a standalone novel but interconnected to other stories set in the same world. I'm off to book no. 2.

I really enjoyed this book! The story was engaging, with a fast-paced plot full of interesting twists and turns. I’m usually pretty good at predicting where a story is going, so it was pleasantly surprised to be caught off guard a few times.

The side characters were a huge highlight for me, especially Athena. I kind of wish she had been part of the little harem, but I was happy that she found her own love. The friendship between Athena and Demetra was perfect and had such a genuine, heartwarming vibe and let’s not forget Daalisiya— the smutty, book-loving librarian, she is my spirit animal!

As for the leading men, I was here for both of them. There’s Dracian, the sweetheart demon, and Rikarion, the grumpy fallen angel. They both help Demetra navigate her new reality in very different ways. Rikarion’s idea of “protecting” Demetra was definitely interesting (he’s got his own methods), but he clearly cared for her. Though, I do think he should’ve had to grovel a bit more for forgiveness. On the other hand, Dracian was super protective but also really nurtured Demetra, encouraging her to find herself and always putting her first. He would sacrifice anything for her, which was pretty swoon-worthy.

The writing style was a bit different from what I’m used to, but once I got into it, I was hooked. Overall, it was a really enjoyable read, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a mix of romance and fantasy (with a little spice thrown in)!

Thank you for sharing your story.

So, the moment is finally here! ✨🌃🪽

My fifth book is releasing on November 1st, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! When I began this journey, I never imagined my mind would fill with so many stories, yet here I am, following characters who came alive in my imagination, whispering their tales, pleading to be written. It might sound a little wild, but these voices grow stronger every day. I already have plans for at least three more books in this universe, if I can capture all of them on the page! Each story in this dark fantasy world carries its own heartbeat — some tragic, some redemptive — and I hope you find them as captivating as I do.

A huge thank you to my friends and fellow authors who’ve supported me along the way—Martina, Madleen, Zofia, and Eva! And to my amazing ARC readers, a group of 11 I am endlessly grateful for just like 11 planets in this vast universe of Divine Destinies series! Thank you, Eva, Zofia, Gareth, Alexandra, Natasha, Lisa, Deya, Victoria, Jessie, Aiste, and Fray! Your reactions, encouragement, and support mean everything to me. In my past attempts, I never thought I’d find a team like this, so thank you, truly, with all my heart.

Writing this book has been an exploration of the darker corners of this universe — places still shrouded in mystery, waiting to be uncovered. And it’s only the beginning of all that lies hidden.

Thank you for coming along on this journey.
I love you all, and I hope you enjoy every page!

With love, Dari

Infernal Ascendancy is like nothing that I have read before. The worldbuilding was intriguing and very original, reminiscent of Yggdrasil as described by Thor to Jane in the first Thor movie. Basically, there are many different planets all linked together by portals. The action takes place in Hellcity, on a planet of exiles. The city itself is reminiscent of Basin City from Frank Miller’s Sin City, but with a supernatural twist. The author does a great job in setting the atmosphere and letting the reader imagine their own monsters in the shadows.
The characters are wonderfully complex and engaging, especially Athena, a tiger-shifter with a pet cat, who befriends the FMC Demetra with no questions asked when Demetra needs it most. I love this depiction of female friendship. There are three main characters Demetra, Rikarion, and Dracian, all with their own POVs and their own complexities. Their polyamorous relationship is very interesting. There is lots of spice in this book, with the most graphic scenes contained in chapters 21-23 (I think), so for any readers who do not enjoy reading graphic depictions of sex, you can still enjoy the book and just skip these chapters. For those who like your spice super spicy, you can find them easily if you want to re-read. 😜
The only minor complaint I have is that the pacing is a little strange. The book kind of reads like a series of episodes each with their own minor arcs, rather than a single narrative. But as all these episodes are fun to read, this is really not a big problem. 4.5 stars overall.

ARC~ Review 🖤

📖: Infernal Ascendancy 🪽😈🌃🖤
4/5⭐️
3/5🌶️

🪽This was the first time that I read a MFM romance, and I really liked the book, it was easy to read and very interesting. I didnt expect to like it that much in the first place but it was surprisingly so good. The storyline was so well written, and if you like dark romantasy with fallen angels and demons, this story is for you🤭

😈 The tropes are the one that got me hooked and it was also the first time that I read about demons, fallen angels, etc.

The characters are so complex and I like how they were described, and I love that the author wrote also about their past, I really enjoyed reading about their lives.

🌃 The main character is Demetra and she is awesome, she is so brave and strong, and I loved the friendship between her and Athena. BUT my favorite character is Dracian he is the sweetest , I love how much he cares for her and his friends, he is the best🥰

Rikarion was an interesting character, I didn’t really like him, especially in the first half of the book, but I knew in the first place that I am going to have a favorite between the boys, Sorry Rikarion but Dracian won🤭

🖤 Dari, I want to thank you for this opportunity and for introducing me in the dark romantasy universe, you are amazing, and I am honored that I had the chance to work with you❤️

Oh. My. Gosh.

This book blew my mind and just broke my heart.

Let’s start with the universe. I am impressed and amazed at how well-thought everything concerning the worlds and the different beings in this book is. Dari truly built a wonderful universe here and I love it !

Now, the characters. They are all so beautiful in their personality, their brokenness and their ability to stand back up every single time. Even the villains are incredibly well-written !
I loved some right away, hated others from the start as well, but there were some characters I learned to love through their growth and character development.
THAT’S what makes a book unforgettable in my eyes. The characters growing through the journey of the story and every flaws they can have.

And the ending ?? I cried and I think it'll haunt me for a while !

It was my first time reading Dari, and I can say with certainty that I WILL devour her other books without even looking at the blurbs ! Dari wrote it ? Give it to me ! She is truly a genius in her world/universe building as well as her ability to create relatable characters. She deserves more recognition for her writing !

Honestly I loved this book. It had me feeling the motions. I honestly cried, screamed, and laughed at parts. That ending had my jaw on the floor leaving me the need to know more. Also the world building was amazing, like honestly I can picture it in my head. I also enjoyed reading in all the characters POV (3 in total (2 MMC 1 FMC)) it was really interesting to see everything in their unique way. Seeing how they grow and hit their potential as characters was amazing. I honestly hope there is more to this series (can see it).

I've finished reading 'Infernal Ascendancy' written by Daria Malaunt. This is a dark fantasy and the first book in a standalone series called 'Devine destinies'.

"An angel, once full of light, now standing on the edge of a dark abyss."

So there are not a lot of books that give me true shocked feelings, but the ending of this book and that epilogue.. I did not see that coming! I feel truly shocked, in a good way, but still shocked. I just loved it. I love when a story can surprise me like that. This story is written really comfortable, what makes it an really easy read and once you've started, you will not want to stop.

"I'm not one of them, not anymore. Wingless angels aren't angels any longer, you know?"

So this story is about Demetra, Rikarion and Dracian. All three of them banned from their home planets and cast out to live their lifes in 'hellcity'. All of them dark background stories, but maybe they will be able to find some light in the darkness.
This is is true fantasy with all these elements I love and a lot of creatures I like to read about. But it's so much more.

"I'm your god now, and I'm going to destroy you."

This story is unique and the background story intrigues me. If you would look at this story on a deeper level, you can spot themes like mental health, sacrifice and grief. The story is about rising above everything that's said and done to you and hopefully still be yourself on the way. About being brave and also being vulnerable. About opening your heart and fighting for whats good and just even in the face of danger.
I cant say anything other than that I loved it and I hope you all will read it. I give it five stars!

Listen, listen, listen! 🪽🌃🏩🖤

Infernal Ascendancy is a soul-devouring masterpiece that grips you from the first page and refuses to let go.
The characters are so vividly crafted that you can't help but feel every ounce of their pain, joy, and vengeance. Demetra's story, in particular, is a gut-wrenching journey of loss and resilience. Her fall from grace, marked by the loss of her wings, is a hauntingly beautiful metaphor for the depths of despair and the fiery pursuit of redemption.

The archangel.... oh, the archangel! Equal parts infuriating and alluring, he embodies the complexity of love and hate, leaving readers torn between admiration and loathing. And the ending? It defies expectations in the most heart-shattering way, leaving you in tears yet strangely satisfied.

The polyamorous relationship at the heart of the story is a refreshing and deeply emotional exploration of love in all its forms. It's impossible not to root for this trio, even as their journey takes unexpected turns.

Infernal Ascendancy is a tale that lingers in your mind long after the final page, itching at your brain and tugging at your heartstrings.

Kisses, Ari 🥀

Loved this story and the last picture of the book really shows the start of the path Demetra takes! Some of the chapters can be long, but it’s really my only gripe.

Perfect Indie, Dark Romance author! Thanks Dari for the wonderful book series you’ve given to me! Can’t wait to read continue in the near future!

Demetra finds herself on a beach on another world, barely conscious and slowly dying. She’s had her wings cut off and been cast out of Celestium by the archangel Daniel; no longer his favoured plaything. I wasn’t a fan of Demetra at first as she’s quite meek but eventually she develops into a badass bitch and I couldn’t love her more for it.

Rikarion stumbles upon Demetra and reluctantly saves her even though he hates because she was Daniel’s favourite and not him. I can’t stand this male! The way he treats people is beyond deplorable. Think Joffrey but even more infuriating. I know it’s really his own particular brand of tough love, and he does kind of redeems himself later, but he needed to grovel and grovel then grovel some more imo and even then I think he still needed a good swift kick in the dick.

Athena, a red tigeress shifter, lives across from Rikarion. She takes Demetra in when Rikarion throws her out after patching her up, and becomes Demetra’s best friend in the world. I love how protective she is of Demetra right from the start, and she’s a total badass bitch too! She’s definitely my second favourite of all the characters.

Dracian is a big scary demon and Athena’s neighbour. He’s dark, hot, super sweet, not pushy, and beats Rikarion when he tries to make out Demetra’s a thief (I wish he’d beaten him a bit more tbh 😅). One night Dracian gets wounded in an attack and Demetra takes care of him. She stays the night and they form an attachment which becomes of the spicy variety about a third or so of the way through the book. I enjoyed the story way more when Dracian became a main character; he’s definitely my favorite and I love his storyline.

There’s quite a lot of characters, but they’re all memorable. All living in exile, coming to terms with loss, and trying to carve out new lives in Hellcity. The world building is really good, I could imagine every place and every creature in vivid detail.

Thanks to the author (Dari A. Malaunt) for allowing me to read a digital review copy even though the book has already been published. I hereby promise that this free provision will not affect my review and opinion in any way. The only exception is the length of the review, as I take a little more time to evaluate review copies.

I really liked the presentation of trauma and PTSD. Usually such scenes are resolved relatively quickly, I liked that the main character had to deal with it a bit more here.
I particularly liked the scenes where the main characters took care of each other and how the male main characters met Demetra's individual needs in completely different ways.
Draconian teaches her what real love is, how to care for each other, and how a partnership can be a matter of course.
Rikarion challenges her and ensures that she excels herself and regains her self-confidence.
However, the relationship between Athena and Icy felt a bit hasty and then the two simply vanished into thin air at 50% of the book.
I often felt that there were too many open threads in the book, purely narrative, and that the endings were not properly linked.
In fact, I would have liked to read more about the wings. They were often described, but never as detailed as I would have liked - especially when it came to sexual activities.
I had the same problem with stripping. It was described and individual figures were good to imagine, but how does the whole thing work with the wings? How and what did she actually dance? To which songs? How did it all feel? It wasn't detailed enough for me.
The author writes very rousingly emotional worlds, but unfortunately has difficulty depicting the "real world."
I have to say though... she is veeery good in writing the sexy scenes. Those were 👌
The ending was surprisingly dark, more than I would have expected, but it rounded off the story excellently.

All in all, I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read fantasy smut and isn't bothered by a bit of trauma.

I cannot find the correct words that would do justice for this book. But I will do my very best.

This story is a BREATHTAKING masterpiece of world and character building, where every being - human or otherwise, more times than not, otherwise - shines with depth so profound that each could easily carry their own story. And I will be certainly waiting for more stories to unfold from our precious author!

The portrayal of the main heroine's journey through trauma is exceptionally authentic; healing and hope is present, but it is neither rushed nor romanticized. You breath, every line, with the heroine as she navigates the world, taking in the experiences described unfolding slowly in time, that makes the heroine's growth feel both raw and so, so, so human (even though she couldn't be further from a human). I believe everyone of us can identify with her even just a little bit, as well as other main characters - each one of them carrying weapons, be it a sword, a knife or a dagger, both in their sheaths and in their hearts. Even when set in a fantasy world, the characters feel what we feel and it is described well - this, once again, makes the story much more captivating.

Even though the ending carries sorrow that makes you think about this book for days while your heart aches, quite an unpopular opinion is the one I have - the love between the main characters endured till the very end, they never betrayed one another, their connection was unwavering and resolute, never faltered, it was so beautiful, even more devastantigly beautiful because of the ending. It all fits together to a wonderful story. Love remaints the greatest victory - raw, unconditional, fulfilling, just like this fairytale was. Cannot wait for more creations written by miss Malaunt!

Dari A. Malaunt’s Infernal Ascendancy is a sweeping, character-driven fantasy that plunges readers into a richly imagined world of exile, rebellion, and redemption.

Demetra once lived in peace and power on a heavenly realm, untouched by darkness. But when she dares to defy the ruling archangel’s cruel system, she’s cast down, stripped of her wings and magic, and exiled to a lawless, forsaken planet—a wasteland where beings from across the universe are discarded like refuse.

In this brutal new reality, Demetra is forced to confront more than just the violence and chaos of her surroundings. She meets a fallen angel from her homeland, an exiled demon burdened by guilt, and a shape-shifter whose kingdom exists only in memory. These unlikely companions form a fragile alliance, navigating a society built on misdeeds and despair.

As Demetra wrestles with the loss of her powers and the trauma of divine betrayal, her struggle becomes deeply personal: will she surrender to the bitterness and corruption of exile, or will she forge something new from the ashes of her former self?

With lyrical prose and hauntingly vivid world-building, Malaunt explores themes of identity, spiritual reckoning, and the resilience of the soul. Infernal Ascendancy is more than a fantasy—it’s an examination of what it means to fall from grace and still choose to rise, forged not by light, but by fire.

Emotionally intense, philosophically rich, and gripping from start to finish, this novel is perfect for fans of character-driven fantasy, found family, and stories that ask what remains of us when the divine abandons us.

Holy cow.

First off- I have never had a dark fantasy book grab me like this one has. I don’t dip into the fantasy world often to begin with because it’s not part of my normal wheelhouse. I just don’t connect with it like other readers. I try really hard but I just can’t. This book though! 🥵🥵🥵

So let’s dive into it!

A fallen angel (Demetra) who has her wings taken away right from the beginning and has to learn her new life on a new planet…ummm yes. Along her new journey she meets some new people/species, begins to understand her new life involves money which was never a thing before so what does she do- she becomes a pole dancer because she basically was a sex slave before and had danced without the pole previously.

In the process of learning her new life she’s constantly verbally tortured by another fallen angel (Rikarion) who still has his wings because he was bitter and jealous of her relationship with the archangel. She also meets a demon (Dracian) along the way and is instantly drawn to him and falls in love with him.

Along the process of Demetra trying to regain her wings or some sort of magic so she can take out the archangel- she falls in love with Rikarion as well. Rikarion also admits that he has had some sort of feelings toward Dracian and the feeling was mutual. All 3 enjoy their time together and realize that together they can take out the archangel.

I have to admit- I have never enjoyed any form of why of choose or polyamorous books due to I am a monogamous person and I can’t visually put myself in their shoes. But I actually enjoyed this book a lot. I cannot wait to read book 2!

Infernal Ascendancy by Dari A. Malaunt is a dark fantasy that plunges readers into a richly imagined world of celestial politics, moral ruin, and the slow-burning reclamation of self. It’s a story of what happens after the fall—when the light is stripped away, and all that remains is who you choose to become in the dark.

Demetra is a fascinating protagonist—once angelic and powerful, now wingless, magicless, and banished to a planet filled with the broken and the damned. Her descent from a divine paradise into a brutal, lawless wasteland is both heartbreaking and empowering. Malaunt paints her struggle with nuance: Demetra doesn’t become a savior overnight, nor does she spiral completely into ruin. Instead, she claws her way through grief, disillusionment, and rage, searching for a purpose in a world that no longer grants her grace.

The ragtag ensemble of fellow exiles—a fallen angel, a demon, and a shifter—adds emotional complexity and diverse perspectives on punishment, redemption, and survival. Their uneasy alliance crackles with tension, mistrust, and unexpected solidarity. Each character brings their own burdens, and their moral ambiguity keeps the reader questioning whether salvation is even possible—or if it should be.

Malaunt’s worldbuilding is stark and immersive. The exile planet is a brutal mosaic of shattered realms, haunted by decay and drenched in despair. It feels alien yet eerily familiar, echoing our own world’s harshest truths. The prose leans poetic at times, lending a haunting, lyrical tone to the grime and grit.

The way this took me on a journey!!!

So for those who know me, sometimes for me fantasy books can take me some time to get into....yet with this one, there was something in the way Dari writes that just hooks you in, which is saying something cause I tend to get distracted EAAAASILY.

I love the way she started this book...where we meet Demetra, her demise, and the world she now has to face. As the book continues, we then meet Dacian and Rikarion, them sexy love interests, and we just go downhill into a universe of angels and demons and magic and romance and all the goodie goodies you can think of. Even from enemies to lovers to everything n between, the way Dari showed their stories, in amazing details from each point of view was a refreshing thing to read.

If you're into Romantasy and want to immerse in a new universe, this is highly on the books I would recommend.

This is book 1 of the Divine Destinies series and even thought each book is a stand alone, it is HIGHLY recommended to read in order to keep up with the lore and timeline.

What to expect in this book:
-MMf
-Fantasy Romance
-Fallen angels x Demon
-Enemies to lovers
-Forbidden love
-Found family
-Exile/redemption
-Hurt/Comfort

Overview:
Overall: 4.5/5
Storyline: 4/5
Smut: 5/5
The feels it made me feel: 4/5

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest, voluntary review

If you're wanting a supernatural dark fantasy romance, with layered characters, enemies to lovers, and jaw-dropping plot twists—this one's for you. Infernal Ascendancy had me on the edge of my seat from page one, pulling me a world that's as brutal as it is beautiful. Thank you Dari A. Malaunt for letting me receive an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book follows the journey of Demetra, a fallen angel cast into Hellcity. There she meets Athena, a tiger shifter who becomes her closest friend; Dracian, a protective cinnamon roll demon; and Rikarion, a grumpy fallen angel with hidden depth. I loved the characters in this book. Dari A. Malaunt once again nails character development—each one was written with such complexity, and the triple POV really lets you truly feel their thoughts and feelings.

The ending was jaw-dropping. It absolutely shattered me. While I understand why it ended the way it did, does not change the ache it left behind—I'm still reeling.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who loves intense, beautifully written, and absolutely unforgettable dark fantasy romances.

★★★★

I really ended up enjoying this book alot!!

This was my first read by Dari A. Malaunt, and I’m so glad I picked it up. The pacing at the beginning felt a bit slow, but once it picked up, I couldn’t put it down!

I absolutely loved Demetra and especially her friend Athena. Their friendship was so precious and one of my favorite parts tbh. Dracian also easily stole my heart. He might look intimidating, but he’s an absolute sweetheart!!

I had a few issues with Rikarion, especially later on when it came to the relationship between him, Demetra, and Dracian. That whole dynamic came out of nowhere for me. Honestly, I really think Demetra should’ve made him grovel a lot longer!! 😂

That said, the spice in this book was something else. Very hot!! 🔥🔥

Overall, it was a really fun story to read, and I’m super excited to read the second one!!

Thank you so much Dari A. Malaunt for this Arc!!🫶🏻

This book follows Demetra who's a fallen angel for defying her ruler Daniel. She meets Rikarion who's an angel from her planet as well and Dracian who's a demon from another planet. They all live on a cast out planet and have to figure out what they are going to do with their lives nows. Demetra had he wings cut off which essentially takes away her magic as well. They eventually team up to take on Daniel.

This book was giving to me as an ARC and i'm leaving my review of my own free will. This book took me a little while to get into because it's over descriptive in some parts and took a minute to get going. The book was a little hard to follow and seemed to bounce around a lot but when it finally started getting good it was a page turner! And of course ends in a cliff hanger!

I have the next two books to read as well and I'm really excited to jump into them!

Arc read -
This is such a great first book in a “series” to get you hooked in for the rest! (It’s a standalone but it’s in the same works with two others)
It’s written a little bit different than some books, but it really works when you get used to it.
It’s so beautifully written where you really feel the feelings the characters feel! Demetra is such a strong FMC that really goes through it in terms of character development! Her friendship with Athena is everything!
The MMC are so different and in the end I really loved them both (didn’t in the start, I was really screaming at Rikarion). I hope we get even more interactions between Rikarion and Dracian in the next books.

The ending is heartbreaking and dark, I had tears so be prepared for that!

ARC REVIEW!

I really enjoyed this book, it had me hooked from the start.

(Thank you to Dari and Book Sirens for providing me with a copy of the book,I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily)

We follow the story of a fallen angel in a city she has been exiled to (Hellcity) here she meets a friend who supports her through her hardship.

We meet our love interest(s!) as time goes on and I loved both of them (even if I did dislike Rikarion for awhile there!)

This story really is a tale of found family, redemption and enemies to lovers, throw in some forbidden love and a morally ambiguous protagonist and I’m all in!

If these tropes are something you enjoy I seriously recommend this book!

The main characters definitely sparked my interest. Demetra having her wings stripped and her magic taken away from her because she showed defiance for once shows she wants to do something for her for once. As for the leading men, I was intreged by both of them. Dracian, being the sweetheart of a demon, and Rikarion, being this grumpy fallen angel. both of them helped Demetra navigate her new reality in very different ways. I really enjoyed reading the book what broke me was the ending… it Broke my heart into a million tiny pieces. I did not see that coming at all. The epilogue had me cry so hard, and I kept wishing that maybe it was just a dream a illusion. I am excited to read book 2 in the series.

This was such a unique and amazing read. Demetra was a really interesting character trying to find her way in a new world that seems to thrive on pain and suffering. She finds a really solid friend in Athena who was crucial in helping her adjust to her new life. Dracian was fantastic and I loved how strong he was and also how devoted to Demetra he was and the sacrifices he made for her had me swooning so hard. Rikarion was really complex because he had all of this like animosity towards Demetra but they were kind of intrinsically linked to each other. The “group” scenes span like three chapters in the last third of this book and I was SWEATING. Very very well done. The final battle in this had me screaming at the sky because WHYYYYYYY.
