Abby kindly reached out to me and sent me her book, and I was sold on the tropes—some of my favorites!
Juliet "Jules" Anderson is a small-town librarian, and Miles Murphy, her high school rival, is now a football coach. They’re competing in a fundraising challenge, and the banter between them is top-notch. The tension and chemistry are undeniable.
I love the cozy small-town setting and the perfect fall vibes. In high school, Miles wasn’t kind to Jules, but he’s changed—though Jules still sees him as her enemy. He loves to fluster her just to get her attention. Secretly, he’s been attracted to her all along but hides his feelings.
Jules has been through a lot, losing both her mom and her aunt, so she’s mostly alone except for her best friend Olivia, who’s like a sister. For the fundraiser, Jules suggests a date auction, never expecting to be part of it—let alone that Miles would bid on her. Their first date is great; he pays attention to everything she loves, like her coffee order. From there, their relationship blossoms into something neither of them anticipated, and I loved how they balanced each other out. They complement each other so well, and I really enjoyed watching them grow together.
If you’re craving a charming small-town romance with warm fall vibes, I highly recommend giving this new author a try. And if you’re into a bit of spice, this book has just the right amount! The nosy townspeople, especially Miles’ mom, added so much fun to the story. I also appreciated that there was no unnecessary drama or third-act breakup. Miles’ brothers, Cash and Holden, were a blast too—I’m really looking forward to their stories!
Thank you again, Abby, for gifting me the book. This review is my honest opinion and was written voluntarily.
