This was a cute romance. I loved how the characters developed and their romance did to. I love when an author makes her main character a book nerd lol. The spicy scenes were perfectly spicy. Overall definitely recommend!!

Abby kindly reached out to me and sent me her book, and I was sold on the tropes—some of my favorites!

Juliet "Jules" Anderson is a small-town librarian, and Miles Murphy, her high school rival, is now a football coach. They’re competing in a fundraising challenge, and the banter between them is top-notch. The tension and chemistry are undeniable.

I love the cozy small-town setting and the perfect fall vibes. In high school, Miles wasn’t kind to Jules, but he’s changed—though Jules still sees him as her enemy. He loves to fluster her just to get her attention. Secretly, he’s been attracted to her all along but hides his feelings.

Jules has been through a lot, losing both her mom and her aunt, so she’s mostly alone except for her best friend Olivia, who’s like a sister. For the fundraiser, Jules suggests a date auction, never expecting to be part of it—let alone that Miles would bid on her. Their first date is great; he pays attention to everything she loves, like her coffee order. From there, their relationship blossoms into something neither of them anticipated, and I loved how they balanced each other out. They complement each other so well, and I really enjoyed watching them grow together.

If you’re craving a charming small-town romance with warm fall vibes, I highly recommend giving this new author a try. And if you’re into a bit of spice, this book has just the right amount! The nosy townspeople, especially Miles’ mom, added so much fun to the story. I also appreciated that there was no unnecessary drama or third-act breakup. Miles’ brothers, Cash and Holden, were a blast too—I’m really looking forward to their stories!

Thank you again, Abby, for gifting me the book. This review is my honest opinion and was written voluntarily.

A must enemies to lovers read!

The Next Chapter is the sizzling, enemies-to-lovers romance you didn’t know you were craving. Scott delivers a masterpiece of chemistry, fiery banter, and tension that practically crackles off the pages.

We meet our dynamic duo, Juliet (Jules) and Miles, two people who loathe each other with a passion that has simmered since their days as high school rivals. While they couldn’t stand the sight of each other back then, things have changed since high school (he falls first). But now, fate (and the town council) has thrown them together to compete for a highly coveted grant to further their special interest. Forced to compete—coupled with their explosive history, Jules and Miles are nothing short of combustible.

The banter between them is pure gold. Jules is sharp-witted and unapologetically confident, always ready to jab at Mile’s ego. Mile’s, on the other hand, will say anything to rile Jules up. Their verbal sparring is a delightful dance of insults, teasing, and undeniable sexual tension. Each word they exchange is laced with a mixture of frustration and something far deeper—something that neither of them is willing to admit.

As the competition heats up, so does their attraction. Sparks begin to fly at every turn. It’s clear that there’s more than just rivalry between them—they’re drawn to each other in a way that neither can control.

But the best part of The Next Chapter is their romance that builds through the competition.
The evolution from bitter enemies to sizzling lovers is one you won’t be able to put down.

The Next Chapter is everything you want in a romance—fun, intense, steamy, and full of heart. If you’re into enemies-to-lovers stories that leave you with your heart racing and your head spinning, this one is an absolute must-read. Prepare for fireworks—both in and out of the town council.

The best way to describe this book? Cute and cozy! It’s such a feel-good small-town romance with a total golden retriever MMC. This feels like a Hallmark Movie in a book! I wouldn’t quite call it enemies to lovers—more like high school annoyances turned lovers. I loved how Miles won over Jules, but honestly, the banter with his brothers was one of my favorite parts. I also loved Miles’ dad jokes, that was a cute touch. And don’t even get me started on Miles’ mom—she was adorable!

I’m so excited to see what Abby does with Cash’s character in Book 2 because I am READY for the single dad spice!

What an amazing introductory book by a soon to be best selling author Abby Scott! I didn’t want the story to end.

I could almost smell the coffee brewing at Pink Morning, and could hear the gossip train rolling through the small town of Lily Point! The descriptions of the quaint small town had me reminiscing on the roar of Friday night football games and big family Sunday Dinners at my grandma’s house.

The spicy parts had me blushing at every chapter! Amazing debut can’t wait for the next one!

The spice was 🔥🔥🔥! I seriously blushed for the last 1/4 of this book. And I didn’t read it with anyone lol. I loved the text messages and I loved that the main characters read a book together! I love books about book people - librarians, authors, etc. I was excited to read a debut novel from a fellow Kentuckian.

Rating: 3.5 Stars (rounded up to 4)
Spice: 3 (naughty words, to 2-3 detailed sex scenes)

If you love a typical modern day 'sunshine' romance novel with these tropes:
Small town
Enemies to lovers
Librarian and sportsman FMC and MMC
He falls first
Single brothers

This is the first of the Lily Point series, set in the small town of Lily point.

Following FMC Juliet (Librarian) and MMC Miles (Football Coach) and their relationship. They went to the local high school together, where Miles used to bully Juliet but actually always had a crush on her. Miles is attracted to Juliet from the get go of this novel and his sexual attraction and tension is described. They are constantly thrown together within the small town, local coffee shop, pub, grocery store etc. Miles infuriates Juliet who can't help but find him attractive. Both of them deny their feelings for each other initially.

Abby Scott described the small town of Lily Point really well, that I was able to picture the setting. The banter between Miles and his two older brothers was mostly expressed through text messages which had me chuckling at their riling of their younger brother.

This made me blush, smile and chuckle. It was such a feel good, easy and well flowing read. I can't wait to read book 2.

This was so cute. I loved the vibes that Miles and Juliet had together. It gave me a vibe of Gilmore Girls meets spicy. I honestly wish that it would have been a little bit longer. I also wish that there would have been a touch of drama (not a 3rd act break up necessarily) but just something to stir the pot. I figured that it would have something to do with the mean girls that was referenced but nothing ever come from that.

So I’ve read this book as part of my indie author series. And sadly I didn’t really enjoy it. I found the characters jarring and unrealistic. It was slow and then rushed and why I felt was a lot of unnecessary information. The writing was difficult to follow. There were a few parts where I thought this is cute but nothing major really.

Fabulous

Loved it! Classic enemy to lovers but with a good storyline and great staging of quaint small cozy town. Who doesn't like a spicy librarian and a buff coach? I can't wait for the next book!
